Kommentare: Ispirer is a great tool for migrating databases. We used it to migrate large and complex database from SQL Server, Sybase to PostgreSQL. The migration process was smooth and easy, and the Ispirer support team was very helpful in answering our questions. We would definitely recommend Ispirer to anyone looking for a reliable and easy to use database migration tool.

Kommentare: The experience with Ispirer has been exceptional. They are very cordial, prompt and professional. They readily attempt to check and eventually include your requirements in the tool. I experienced this in case of screen and SQL handling capabilities in COBOL to C# auto re-factoring.Overall, I found the team very well equipped with the needed technical knowledge.

Vorteile:

The most important thing about this tool is it comes to help you in a requirement less in demand - COBOL to C# auto refactor. There aren't many tools in this space. This one works well with mainframe and AS/400 COBOL - within its current limits.

Nachteile:

Not that I liked LEAST about this; however, it currently processes only business logic in COBOL. It doesn't take care of user interaction and reporting. Also, currently it is not equipped with SQL statements processing capabilities, e. g. - CURSOR processing.

Ispirer SQLWays

Vorteile:

Ispirer SQLWays was easy to use & support team are very responsive

Nachteile:

No report of import results, some of our stored procedures and functions were not able to convert correctly. Oracle sequences also not converted correctly. License period may be too short for big data migration

PostgreSQL migration success

Vorteile:

Our migration from MSSQL server to PostgreSQL was facilitated by ISpirer. We are very happy and content with the support we got from ISpirer. We had some SQL Server specific constructions in our database, like the use of HiearchyIDs for instance, that simply do not exist in the PostgreSQL world. But ISpirer helped us work around this, by writing a customization that, in this case, leverages the use of the PostgreSQL function ltree. Another thing we encountered is that the migration was initially quite slow. It turned out we were not using the native mssql drivers in our DSN. After specific instructions from ISpirer the duration of a migration was reduced from 8 hours to 20-30 minutes. Because we have hundreds of databases that need to be migrated, automating the whole process was key for us. ISpirer helped us achieve just that, through their excellent tooling, customizations, and support.

Nachteile:

The migration was quite slow when using the wrong ODBC driver. It could have been more clear that that would be the effect when choosing a DSN.

Kommentare: I would like to talk about teams. They really listen and are very responsive, I am very pleasantly surprised. Several times, they quickly found solutions to my various problems. Whether in terms of implementation, or additional development.

COBOL to Java conversion

Kommentare: We conducted a project for a major Japanese supplier to convert COBOL batch programs of about 400K lines to Java.The conversion was performed using the Ispirer tool, and the project proceeded with the policy of manually addressing the missing parts.Before the project started, whole conversion was performed in advance and problems were identified preliminarily, major problems were addressed by customizing the tool in advance.Without Ispirer's tool, it would have been impossible to complete the project within the eight-month time frame.Using Ispirer tool to convert COBOL to Java this time, we will never be converting COBOL to Java from scratch for similar projects in the future.I believe we will continue to use Ispirer's tools for similar projects in the future.

Vorteile:

1. Ispirer Java library for COBOLThe tool converts to Java based on the Java library that Ispirer delivers with the tool for COBOL specific data types such as PICTURE type and other COBOL specific circumstances, so the accuracy of conversion is high.2. Extension of the tool (which is called customization)For example, in this project, the user was accessing Oracle using a special library that allows SQL access to the database to be coded as if it were a regular text file.But when rewriting to Java, we needed to rewrite it as JDBC access. This was necessary and we had some tool customizaions on this.This was very helpful because the tool was able to cover a large portion of this issue by customizing the tool.Ispirer was very helpful in consulting the conversion specifications for such customization, and was very quick and detailed in its response.

Nachteile:

I think it is better to say that it is not a demerit but a point to be noted on the basic premise that a tool cannot convert 100% perfectly.In the case of conversion from COBOL to Java, performance problems may occur in the converted Java. This is largely due to the structure of individual programs, so it has to be handled manually.The secret of success may be to verify the performance at an early stage of a project.Other than this, I have no particular complaints.

migrating from sql server to postgresql

Vorteile:

mainly the technical assistance provided by Inspirer staff, then the easy use of the tool to migrate both the structure, the database objects and the data

Nachteile:

The price, we are not a software development company and we only use the tool once, if you can consider an amount to be able to use this tool for two weeks.

Ispirer software and customer support was remarkable

Kommentare: Very good experience. The company was responsive to our questions and issues and the software functioned well.

Vorteile:

The conversion software simplified our Oracle to SQL project and reduced the amount of work we had to do. The company provided exceptional customer service and felt like an extension of our team.

Nachteile:

The software was easy to install and Ispirer provide customizations where the tool was initially unable to convert some of our stored procedures.

Kommentare: 10/10 - customer support was fast and prompt. Gave me a good deal on the product

Simply to use UI. No configuration required. UI has live updates on progress, you're not concerned it's stuck somewhere and actually has already crashed.

Nachteile:

Pricing not available upfront. I understand that their business model is quota based so they need estimate of how you will use it, but they could provide a chart of rough costs so you can know what you might need to expect

Sybase to MySQL Database Conversion.

Kommentare: We are very pleased with the product, it saved us a lot of time.

Vorteile:

The success rate of database objects conversion and customization requests.

Nachteile:

We have no complaints about the product.

Ispirer data migration

Vorteile:

quite easy to use/user friendly. easy to understand even for non technical people.

Nachteile:

The interface is a bit outdated and debugging process for failed table conversions is harder to follow.

Db2 to Postgres conversion for procedure, functions and triggers

Kommentare: Overall it was good experience using this tool and all our procedures, functions and triggers got converted successfully.

Vorteile:

Ispirer has pre-assessment tool which really helps to get the exact idea about the conversion and the costing. The conversion tool is very easy to install and use. We had to do some customization and some changes in the tool as some of the procedures were not getting converted properly. Ispirer team was very helpful and providing fixes time to time.

Nachteile:

It was all good and i don't have anything to add here.

Awesome product

Kommentare: I use Ispirer to convert the MS Sql server database to a PostgresQL database, Ispirer automatically analyzes the database objects, converts the table structure and view definition correctly, and the data is converted correctly, although my view definition is very complicated.Awesome!

Ispirer is very accurate and intelligent.

It may be that I used it improperly. I found that the definition of migration engineering is not particularly clear, and I hope it will be more intelligent

Good tool for DB conversion

Kommentare: Overall good tool. Most of the conversion was seamless except for a few stored procedures.

Some of the successfully converted stored procedures didn't run and had to be fixed manually

Ispirer tool review on converting Oracle pl/sql to Teradata USP

Vorteile:

1. Tool is very user friendly to operate and installation is quick and easy2. Customization is easy to meet the project requirements without affect the other functionalities 3. Good for simple code conversions

Nachteile:

1. Complex functionalities (Ex. handling multiple cursors, variable data types, batch processing and dynamic SQLs and updates) are not addressed in code conversion which lead to more manual efforts2. Support team was expecting equivalent solution in Teradata for Oracle functions which were not converted properly in the beginning

Not observed any cons with the software. May be If i use the tool for code conversion, i can share my experience on this.

Easy to migrate database

Vorteile:

I've been migrate db2 database to postgresql easyly using this tool

Nachteile:

My job of migrating databases can easily be done automatically with almost 95% accuracy. The rest is manual effort

Sybase SQL Anywhere to MS SQL Server database conversion

Vorteile:

The Assessment toolkit was very helpful. It provided an overall picture and the scope of the database conversion. It analyzed all objects including Views, Tables, Stored Procedures and so on within a source database. The SQLWays module worked well. It converted all data successfully to SQL Server. The process logged exceptions so we could either fix them before or after the conversion. Overall, it's a very good product and ispire customer support is exceptional!

Nachteile:

The original version of the Assessment Wizard ran into an issue causing the error "Failed Objects (Not Parsed). However, the issue was quickly fixed by technical support. It ran successfully with latest version.

Best and most intelligent tool in the category

Kommentare: Ispirer is the best tool we found in the Database migration category. It does not just blindly do the pattern based migrations and rather applies good intelligence in doing so.
With the awesome support from Ispirer team, we were able to customize some rules to our liking and it delivered perfect results. Using the flexibility offered by the tool, we were able to migrate databases with thousands of objects, with good speed through CLI options. The best part is that once the configurations are tried in test environments, we could simply breeze through our Production migrations without any extra efforts. The proactiveness of the Ispirer sales team and responsiveness of technical team made it a perfect DB migration experience. One thing which can be improved is speed of data migration, when BLOBs are present with high data volume. In general, for migration of couple of hundreds GBs of data (without strict downtime requirements) tool can be of help.

Kommentare: This group has been wonderful to deal with and the software easy to use.

Vorteile:

This software allowed us to reliably convert Informix data to a SQL database.

Nachteile:

The initial setup took some time but the support staff helped me through it.

Great product at a great price.

Kommentare: As you can guess, the over all experience is 5 out of 5 stars, really (no I'm not being compensated for saying that).

Vorteile:

While I was more on the admin team, I can speak to the amazing customer service provided. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Nachteile:

Of course nothing is perfect, and that is the case here, but the tool is fantastic, and with the support we got, we were really pleased.
