CACTI: a simple and quite useful tool

Kommentare: We started using CACTI as a free tool and after validating some functionalities we acquired licensing, we used it for some specific projects where Cacti meets the requirements of the end client and we have started to use it in other projects in a transversal way.

Vorteile:

What I liked most about CACTI is that it is very simple to use, very intuitive and also easy to deploy, it does not require advanced knowledge.

Nachteile:

What I liked least about CACTI is that I see that it is widely used as a free tool but in reality it is a tool that has many functionalities.

One of the best open source monitoring tools

Kommentare: Solid monitoring for medium size company, fine for switches, firewalls, routers and all devices which supports snmp, syslog (so all devices)

Vorteile:

Easy to deploy, stable, flexible and fast.

Nachteile:

Scripts and plugins gets obsolete, but that's the "price" of open source = its free, sometimes you have to learn and script your way to get things done.

The ease of use and the capabilities it gives

Nachteile:

It is a good product I like all the features

CACTI: highly recommended for inexperienced users

Kommentare: A friend recommended the tool to me because I was not very expert, he showed me how he had it implemented in his company and I thought it was great. Afterwards we made contact to acquire it and the issue was very agile and we use it on a daily basis to monitor our grid.

Vorteile:

The tool is supremely intuitive, no great knowledge is needed to implement, configure or use it, apart from the real-time monitoring it is very agile

Nachteile:

The hiring issue was a little delayed. The rest has been very good.

CACTI

Vorteile:

It is a useful and intuitive tool to use, especially in my field of networks.

Nachteile:

That I had a much more summarized general vision.

Cacti Best Graph monitoring for ISP

Kommentare: when i work at ISP i use cacti too, and its easy to use, we use mixed devices from china, us etc, so function is not the same, especially MiB that not suitable to use with other monitoring too, but from this experence we use cacti, we build the custom MiB from devices and then import to cacti and we can monitor all the devices such as transmission devices mostly huawei product we need to build the custom template to monitor those devices.

Vorteile:

easy to monitor the graph, its support all kind of devices, and sysadmin can build custom template for cacti too based on the MiB of the manufacture devices. graph are generate every 5min, not high load on the server performance, especially for ISP there have alot of customer. email notification is very good to send alert in case there have problem, or link down, also can automatically send email directly to customer as well the graph of their usage etc. weathermap plugin is powerful to let the system admin/network engineer to draw and connect devices and show the realtime traffic on the link.

Nachteile:

its perfect already i have no comment about this.

Vorteile:

cost effective, easy deployment, light foot print.

Nachteile:

Application monitoring could be improved, best if OVA files were available for deployment on virtualized environment.

Good tool for monitoring

Vorteile:

I've been using Cacti for years. Robust in that it does what it's supposed to do. Connects to all network devices that we have used.

Nachteile:

Somewhat tricky user interface, especially when you have a lot of devices under management and when you want to focus on events in the past.

Cacti, Excellent monitoring tool

Vorteile:

It is an excellent monitoring tool and easy to configure. Good tool for SNMPD and allows sending alerts via email of the services when they are not working.

Nachteile:

Making updates can be complex and configuring plugin architecture is a bit complex and when sending alerts when a service is down sometimes it is not usually immediate

Cacti is Great

Kommentare: Very useful I use it to graph my routers, switches and printers

Vorteile:

The graphs,the ability to use SNMPv3 and the community which is of course FOSS

Nachteile:

KB needs an update. Finding the right template you need can be a challenge

la configuracion de las interfaces es muy tediosa es la desventaje cualquiera no las puede configurar

Cacti monitoreo

Vorteile:

Las alertas son fáciles de comprender el menú es facil

Nachteile:

Algunas veces es difícil la apertura en exploradores como edge.
