Null Kundenservice, keine Rückmeldung, keine Lösung

Vorteile:

Es hat mir mal gefallen, mittlerweile schlechter Service und wenig Benutzerfreundlichkeit

Nachteile:

Ich möchte QXP 2021 (jawohl 2021!) installieren. Bei Eingabe des Validierungscodes wird mir gesagt, dass ich die max. Anzahl erreicht habe. Auf diesem Rechner läuft aber nur noch QXP 2020, was auch so bleiben soll. Zugang zur License Management Console wird verwehrt. Ein Login ist nicht möglich. Zwei Mails an den Support sind auch nach einer Woche unbeantwortet. Zum Glück habe ich noch Adobe ...

Es war einmal…

Kommentare: Es war einmal… so fangen in der Regel Märchen an. Vor vielen vielen Jahren… 25 um genau zu sein in der ich Qxpress nutze. Angefangen bei den nahezu allerersten Versionen. Hervorragend stabil, konkurrenzlos, extrem teuer damals. Aber den Preis wert. Und Heute? Der maximal schlechteste Kundensupport den ich man sich je vorstellen kann. Dabei können diese Leute wohl nicht mal recht was dafür. Wohlmeinende Menschen aus exotischen Ländern von denen bisher kein Einziger so recht verstand was ich möchte. Einfache Antworten auf einfache Fragen - selbst das scheint mittlerweile zu viel verlangt.

Vorteile:

Bis zur Version 10 super, das Beste was es gab auf dem Markt. Bis Version 2018 war es zumindest noch gut erträglich (mit etwas Hartnäckigkeit). Jetzt, QXPress 2020 und viele (wohl auch Unternehmensübertragungen) Jahre später… Es ist leider Zeit Adieu zu sagen. Schmerzlich aber meine Geduld hat ein Ende.

Nachteile:

Das Programm selbst ist nach wie vor - außergewöhnlich gut. Alles drumherum, vom Support, Kunden-Login, Manual… einfach so miserabel - damit kann man nicht vernünftig arbeiten. Man wünscht sich Quark 10.0 zurück.

Vorteile:

First, their customer support for this product is incredible. Hands down some of the best people working with this company, and knowledgable. There is also an online community behind this software that is wonderful and can usually get you where you want to go if you need help. Also the facebook group continues to grow and thrive and the company is pretty involved with keeping the quark world up to date on progress and resources. Ok the software is pretty wonderful and through the years we continue to choose Quark for book/media publishing over other products that we use more frequently day to day with other media because Quark just has always gotten the job done and done well. That still is the case for a couple specific purposes, like brochure and booklet printing, we use Quark for because most of the tools throughout the years have remained the same. And they make simple what other products cause hair-loss over. Quark not being a subscription based media creation software is the bee's knees!! And the ability and power of all the software can do for the price is pretty great!!

Nachteile:

Over the years, they have tried to do too much in too little of time to compete but they have failed short. In the past Quark was an incredible software and the value was through the roof, but sadly that is not the case anymore. Focusing on becoming a software for producing cross-platform media and new media has taken away from their bread and butter of being the go to software for book and print media publishing over the years. The tools available, advancements and attention to their original staples of print publishing have lacked. PDFs are an area serious attention needs to be given, without having to purchase or use 3rd party integrations. Yearly updates should not have to be purchased or at least discounted much more significantly, especially considering the incompatibility of working between different years of Quark. Saving to a previous version is a must, that I which would come back, without expensive 3rd party software.

quarkXpress: like an excellent dressage horse without escapades

Vorteile:

the typographic tools are precise and excellent [i can judge this as a professor of typography]. the workflows are straightforward and not overloaded with windows. working with images is very fast: double-click on the image content and you're in photoshop. and also: copying image content and pasting it into other windows, so simple, so ingenious the price-performance ratio is excellent. the html interface is very good. pantone included

Nachteile:

I am very satisfied with quarkXpress, I have no cons to mention.

QuarkXpress the Best

Kommentare: Great desktop designer tool that has always delivered for my graphics company.

Vorteile:

Having used QuarkXpress for over 30 years, it has always been my go to application. Have used on designs for many publications, stationery sets and numerous graphics projects! Easy to use and always gets results!

Nachteile:

Difficult to say but creating pdf’s were a problem but I think that has been resolved.

Quark is bittersweet but can’t compete with Indesign

Kommentare: I’ve used quarkxpress for over ten years, longer than any other single piece of software. I converted to indesign kicking and screaming because of how different the workflow was because I was so picky. If you’re just starting out, I’d suggest you look at indesign. If you’re picking up someone else’s work, you can almost everything indesign can do quark can do too.

Vorteile:

After Apple’s Pages application, it is the easiest and simplest major print design software out there that you can use fairly intuitively if you’ve used a computer graphics program before. Just watching some tutorials online you can easily edit other people’s work fairly easily without much training. The second best feature of quark is the powerful xtentions that exist out there on the market. Other programs had this too but quark was the first to do this. Xtentions really streamlined and automated a lot of repetitive design tasks like updating prices and phone numbers (xcatalog).

Nachteile:

It lacks full transparency gradients and doesn’t have adequate photo layering capabilities like opacities and layer modes. It also lacks a wysiwyg font menu so you can’t see they style of the font you’re using until you select it and enter some type. Quark is also a bit unstable at times. Prone to crashes.

Versatile Desktop Publishing Program

Kommentare: Overall, QuarkXPress is relatively easy to learn but does not offer the handholding of strictly user-oriented software. I've used Quark since the mid-90s when it was a DOS-based package, and we printed a 32-page monthly children's publication. Quark is a standard program for commercial use and has few competitors. I've used virtually every version since Quark's DOS days. I've published POD books up to 600 pages with Quark.

Vorteile:

Easy to create a print book that looks as professional as the ones from major publishing houses.

Nachteile:

When you do a File Save As, Quark continues to use the original file instead of switching to the new file you saved, as all other document processing software does. For example, assume you've created a "template" file that is the basic starting point of some common output. You do a File Save As to MyNewBook, but the focus remains on the Template. If you don't remember to open MyNewBook, your changes end up in the original Template file instead of MyNewBook. It's not a show-stopper, but it's annoying at times after realizing all of the changes are in the original starting file and not the one you created.

Old-timer in prepress industry with interactive make-up

Kommentare: In general I am satisfied. It works very stabile. Output - pdf output - is perfect for prepress, HTML5 site of publication is excellent and work as soon as you drop it on ftp server.

Vorteile:

If you work on book, or you need HTML5 or android/iPhone version of your publication, without additional costs, choose QuarkXPress. In one program you can do everything you need to satisfy your publishing needs. But, if you need more "artistic" look of your publication, Adobe and Affinity suites, even Corel, are better solutions.

Nachteile:

It is slow as slow as you hardisk, not your CPU or graphic card. QuarkXPress use too many time more hd than memory cache. Second "least" is price, and it cost too much, and there are no upgrade for 50% or more offs.

Warum QuarkXPress gewählt wurde: Indesign became too pricely, and I switch... after few years, Quark price politics are not good, and I switch again - to Affinity suite.

Gründe für den Wechsel zu QuarkXPress: Adobe was too pricely. Cores was too slow, and cannot handle documents with great number of pages, and we than choose QuarkXPress.

happy long-time Quark user

Kommentare: I've been using Quark since 1990s and have never wanted to switch to any other program. I use the software every day for my design business.

Vorteile:

Using the extensive keyboard shortcuts saves me a lot of time. I rarely need use the drop menus.

Nachteile:

I seem to need to clear the cache quite often to get some features working again. Example: double clicking an image to bring up the Edit Original dialog box.

Very straightforward and easy to use

QuarkXPress is a Good tool for Print and Digital content designs.

Kommentare: I first used QuarkXPress on few occasions in my previous company and from my point of view it is by far a best tool for Page Layouts.

Vorteile:

Its the original desktop publishing software for creative professionals and its very easy to convert documents into interactive, digital experiences with this software. QuarkXPress is a good tool for Print and Digital Layouts, like Newspapers, Magazines, Brochures, eBooks, HTML5, Android/iPhone etc.

Nachteile:

Its slow sometimes and support isn't that great but otherwise software itself serves its purpose.

Desktop publishing With QuarkXpress

Kommentare: I use Quarkexpress in small projects because of its user-friendly features.

Vorteile:

Ever since it was released in 1987 QuarkXPress has dominated the Desktop Publishing. I use Quarkexpress because when its come to page layout it is the best one out there because of its simplicity.its text tools are very user-friendly and lets you get the job done very quickly and efficiently. Also, QuarkXPress supports more printers than any other desktop publishing software.

Nachteile:

There is not much not to like about QuarkXpress. Maybe PDF exports could be easier in the future

Still number one in my opinion

Kommentare: Having used Quark since version 3, (that's early 90's on a IIx) I've grown up with it. Does pretty much everything I need it to do as a final platform for print. It's ease of use and the fact they haven't diddled around too much with its core functionality is a blessing. Never had any problems with getting work printed using Quark. Over the years I've used multiple platforms, individually and combined, in designing specifically for print. Have used Indesign. It's OK, but see no reason to change. Try to avoid subscription software these days. Now use Affinity Photo and Draw in place of Adobe stuff which quark works with without issue.

Vorteile:

Does everything I need it to do in design for print. Accurate, fast, reliable and a very powerful bit of kit and that's all that matters in my book.

Nachteile:

Not many. The tables function could be a bit more friendly regarding basic editing. Updates are a bit expensive for the frequency which they offer them. I miss the little alien, they could bring that back, a little bit of stress relief I miss!

Great to Use for Marketing Materials!

Vorteile:

I used this software regularly at my previous job, and really enjoyed it. I was able to create beautiful advertisements for print, fairly easily. I was able to teach myself how to use it also. When it comes to design software, this is user friendly.

Nachteile:

It is kind of outdated. These days, people tend to look for Adobe software proficiency. It is a great stepping stone to Adobe.

Once avoided, now embraced

Kommentare: When I began using Quark roughly 15 years ago, I would so anything to try to avoid it. It was intimidating and frustrating and, at the time, only a mac program. I desperately tried to convert as many files as I could to Adobe InDesign because I was more comfortable on the pc platform. Now, I love Quark and would prefer to use it over anything else. Having a PC platform version really was the key in my eyes. With recent versions, Quark has become much less intimidating and more inviting to non-industry professionals.

Vorteile:

Quark really is the best when it comes to page layout and typesetting design. The features and abilities far surpass other layout programs.

Nachteile:

Although recent versions have been improving, Quark can be rather intimidating to learn and not the most user friendly.

Kommentare: Amazing we use it for years, but we have to change to more modern product can solve the current workflow of digital/print media

Vorteile:

Quarkxpress was the standart for printing. we really love it, we use it for make books, and magazines. Is relative easy to use (not easy but kind that) and get results. If you go for make prints books, is amazing... but if you work in print and digital media... well is gonna be a pain.

Nachteile:

The big issue is QuarkXPress dont adapt to the "new standards", like make books for prints and digitals with all the formats (epub, kdp, and other) for all the markets. So you have remake the book for digital, other products save that more time because offer a solution to that problem Also the pricing is very expensive, they should try to find another model In the last 5-10 years they lost the market because of that. I hope QuarkXPress get it because we love it

My first software for diagraming magazines

Vorteile:

Easy to use, multiple options to export and make impressive presentations such as HTML5, very complete and elegant typography tool, compatibility with other similar programs.

Nachteile:

I can not open INDD extension files, I must ask the sender to export the files in an IDML extension, it is a bit inconvenient but nothing impossible.

Quark after using InDesign for about ten years

Kommentare: Laying out ads and pages for our newspaper is very easy in Quark.

Vorteile:

Very easy to transition to after using InDesign for about ten years. Layout is very easy. The keyboard shortcuts are easy to learn as well.

Nachteile:

There are times that files imported from Illustrator do some strange things when you export the Quark file to a pdf.

The Best!

Kommentare: We use it for everything from newsletters, magazines to brochures and creating PDF's as well, catalogs.

Vorteile:

Love the many functions and features it has for our newsletter and magazine publishing. As well for our clients design projects.

Nachteile:

Lots to learn with the many features it has. Must take time out for learning.

There's a Reason it's the Industry Standard

Kommentare: My output doubled with QuarkXPress. Easy to navigate, allowed me to be more creative without having to worry about USING the tool. I just did, and let the creativity flow.

Vorteile:

The flexibility to do what I need, quality pixel perfect output

Nachteile:

Very small learning curve (I came from using InDesign)

Loved Quark until I got my hands on InDesign

I learned Graphic Design elements with Quark. It was a great way to learn the basics of design and layout.

Nachteile:

Quark is limited in its capabilities compared to other designer programs (InDesign). Integrating Quark files with other software is often difficult to do.

Very useful app for making newspapers and magazines

Kommentare: Overall a very great experience. But the ease of use should be looked after.

Vorteile:

This is one of the best app to make newspapers and magazines and newsletters and many things. You can edit a newspaper here and create posters as well. Students who are studying journalism, this is a great app to start. Professionals also use this app for the same purpose.

Nachteile:

Although this is a very good app but you will face difficulties while using this app. The ease of use is really complicated. Tools are also hard to use.

A robust alternative to InDesign

Vorteile:

I've been around forever, so I still use Quark Xpress alongside Adobe InDesign. Quark has a lot of nice features, including some that InDesign doesn't have, such as publishing to HTML5. It's easy to use. It does not require an annual subscription but the frequent (annual) upgrades do cost.

Nachteile:

When I first got this software the registration process was laborious and the customer support was terrible. Quark is not as powerful as InDesign but, for me, is easier to use.
