Oscommerce Is A Highly Customizable Shopping Cart Solution
Kommentare: Using Oscommerce enables online purchasing with flexible technology that can be customized with any feature that you can think of for your business. I have used it for many years, as long as you have a good php developer at your disposal when you need one, you can use this software with confidence.
Vorteile: Oscommerce is very flexible and easy to customize. It's easy to add features and functionality that your unique business might need. There are thousands of plug ins that you can add to Oscommerce, many of which are free. Oscommerce itself is free to download and is "open source".
Nachteile: The support for Oscommerce is not very great and the documentation is not as strong as other shopping carts. If you have a technical challenge you probably need an experienced Oscommerce expert who is familiar with the code. The code is not as modern but it is lightweight and loads fast.

Versatile and very customizable for simple online stores
Kommentare: It was effective for setting up a straight forward online store.
Vorteile: We used osCommerce for about 10 years to manage our first online shopping offering for our winery and it was an effective tool. However, as time grew we actually found using it internally for order dispatch and inventory management and basic CRM functions was far better. However, the difficulty with integrating it into our accounting software and our needs for more sophisticated inventory management caused us to eventually move to a different platform.
Nachteile: Difficulty encountered with tax rounding errors and the need for an audit log of inventory transactions/adjustments
