Vorteile:

Competitive pricing, relatively easy to set up, mostly user-friendly platform, can back up multiple PCs with one account, excellent customer support

Nachteile:

Setup is slightly confusing but excellent customer support promptly answered my queries

Worth every cent for the piece of mind!

Kommentare: This is one of the best cloud backup solutions I've used, and I've used several. As an added bonus, it's very competitively priced to others on the market.

Vorteile:

Downloading the software, installing it, setting it up, and getting it started were all very easy and straight forward. One of the biggest selling points for iDrive was the value of the product compared to current competitors. I have a considerable amount of data stored on my computer for my business and school, and wanted a way to back up my hard drive without buying more physical equipment.

Nachteile:

The first back up took considerably longer than a few other services I've used, with the same internet connection and similiar data size. However, I let the backup run overnight and it was ready to go by morning!

Not up to what it is advertised as

Vorteile:

Well I liked it is cheaper, and the support is also decent. But not great

Nachteile:

The aspects of google drive back, and even backing up using express drive is not proper. Continuous issues. Tried google workspace back like 4-5 times. Failed all the times and the drive files did not copy. Same with Express drive. They sent a hard disk to copy the files, but the hard disk is not working properly and causing connection issues.

Great service and excellent price

Kommentare: I like the service so far, it's quite cheap and cost-effective in comparison to others. It's got everything I need and more. I would maybe refine the interface in a more modern fashion and improve the overall experience (see my cons), but for this price there's really little I can complain about.

Vorteile:

I like the ability to upload automatically an incremental backup of my data. The app works flawlessly on my M2 MacBook and this relieves me of some worries in case the disk fails or something happens to my contents. I also love the price/Gb ratio of iDrive, since I also use cloud drive a lot and I need so much space.

Nachteile:

I would refine a little the management of the cloud drive folders in a similar way as Google Drive and OneDrive. I'd like to have a mirrored version of my files without actually having to download them physically on my computer, so that I could choose only the content I need for download and keep in the cloud the rest. Sometimes the navigation in cloud drive folders gets stuck and you need to reload the page, but that's no big deal.

Keep your data safe and access it on the go

Kommentare: As well as using iDrive for remote access of my data when I'm on another device on the go, I have fully retrieved my data when a device failed (PC and laptop), without the need to get a tech to pull the data out for me. Each time I was able to purchase a new device and move forward with no data loss.

Vorteile:

I love that it backs up everything automatically - PC, laptop, smartphone, and tablet.

Nachteile:

I wish Google Workspace backup was included in the main subscription.

I really wanted to like it...

Kommentare: I really wanted to like IDrive and was really hoping this was the solution for me. I have since tried backing up 2TB of my laptop to both Google and Dropbox, and each of those providers have had serious issues in their context.

Vorteile:

The option for them to ship me a drive in which I can backup directly and ship back was a really nice feature. Sadly, thats about the best I can say.

Nachteile:

Backing up 2TB directly to an external hard drive is still going to take several hours. Well, for me it was 11 hours which is fine. So much better than the days it would have taken over the internet. I was expecting a smooth experience and was sad when it didnt happen. First, about 9 hours into the backup, I needed to reboot my laptop. I went into the IDrive app and paused the backup, then rebooted. After it starting back up, there was nothing to resume. It required me to start a new full backup. Resuming an existing backup is not rocket science. I contacted technical support, and they were responsive only to acknowledge that I needed to do another back up. So now on the second day, thats what I did. Per instructions, I went to eject the drive and my Mac was complaining that it was still be accessed my option was to force eject. So I decided to simply reboot again thinking a force eject is not a good path. Now, when it restarted, the drive came back and following the instructions again, I went to confirm the backup. To my surprise, it only listed two of the five folders. Yikes! Back to the support person and they told me to re-index the database using the idrive app. After another 9 hours the re-indexing finished an indeed the backup looked correct. I went to eject and again it was complaining the an app was still using the drive, leaving me with the option to force eject. I ran some command on the terminal and it showed that the IDriveDaemon was the culprit, so I did a kill -2 on it hoping for a clean shutdown, and then was able to eject. Just wow is all I can say. No warm and fuzzy, or confident feeling here. So I shipped the drive back and am waiting to be notified that I can resume backing up my laptop. Another feature that is very rudimentary and really questionable - I needed to share a file that was on the Cloud-Drive. IDrive uses a password to access the file, so yeah. I get to email the link and the password rather than an access control based on email of who I am sharing. So yeah, that is not ideal, especially after using Google Drive or even Dropbox.

A Value-Based Winner for Small Business and Personal Users

Kommentare: I've worked with a variety of competitors over the years. The iDrive interface won't win awards for innovative design, but it is clear, simple and effective. The controls also make it easy to monitor the size of your backup so that you don't accidentally get a pesky overcharge.

Vorteile:

iDrive is, hands down, the simplest and most cost-effective backup solution I've tried to date. Installation and configuration and straight forward -- as is pricing.

Nachteile:

The only downside is that I can't get away with backing up my NAS on a my single computer account.

Great for new to cloud backup users!

Great backup program.

Vorteile:

Easy to set up and create profile. Backs up selected files daily on prescribed schedule and send an email to acknowledge backup while identifying any issues discovered. Effective online backup for both desktop and laptop.

Nachteile:

differentiating between which device backs up what is a bit confusing.

I use on smartphone, tablet and laptop but all work very nice. It's easy to upload and restore. I like it a lot

Idrive Review

Kommentare: I've been using IDrive for a while and it's become my top choice for cloud storage. I love its comprehensive backup options, including entire system images, and the ability to sync across all my devices. The user-friendly interface makes setup easy, and the reliable performance and reasonable pricing add to its appeal. Security features like encryption and two-factor authentication give me peace of mind, and while initial backup speeds could be faster, IDrive's overall versatility and strong support make it an excellent choice for both personal and business needs

Great tool for backups

Kommentare: The setup procedure is very simple. Everyday use is nonexistent because of the set-it-and-forget-it process. Lots of useful features to handle most of the Backup scenarios. It consumes a moderate amount of your CPU when backing up (i7-1165G7 I'm using 40%). Overall is a vert good backup solution for the price.

Vorteile:

The GB/$ ratio is very good. The agent has lots of features that for the purpose of backup unmodified files are perfect.

Nachteile:

Agent can be a CPU hog if you don't configure the tool properly (even with an i7-1165G7 I'm using 40% of the CPU when backing up)

Security for a small business

Kommentare: We were looking for a new online cloud backup solution, as our old one could not process our card. iDrive came up as a suggested option multiple times.
The payment and subscription set up process was painless and easy on iDrive.
We were able to download and schedule backup right away. The full backup process took about 5 hours for each laptop device. This is at par with our experience with other such apps.
We had some questions based on the error log, and iDrive support got back to us fairly promptly with clear suggestions.
Overall happy with this app, which helps us take off our mind from file loss related issues and get on with running our business.
I am writing this review based on a request from iDrive.

Vorteile:

Easy to install and schedule backup. No technical knowledge needed UI and instructions are easy to follow Perfect for a small business with limited data and devices The basic plan provides scope for future data needs Different options for scheduling backup means we can 'set it and forget it' Backup can be scheduled for the less busy times Support is excellent and got back with clear and specific answers to our queries within 12 hours and also followed up The iDrive software does not occupy too much memory when processing Was able to purchase and set up subscription for the software without any issues. Other backup options had some issues and were not able to process our credit card.

Nachteile:

Having used various other backup options in the past, we don't find any cons as compared to those other tools.

Disappointed and frustrated

Kommentare: It’s competitively priced, thus I signed up. Interface is quite confusing and not very appealing and it takes some getting used to.
Worst part is, that I wanted to share a file, it then sends a OPT code in order to recognize the device I’m using in this case laptop, that I ALWAYS use.. anyway, the code has not reached my email within the 5 minutes you are given before expiration. I really had no time to wait second and third and forth and fifth time while frustration gets in a way I put wrong, late delivered codes then account gets locked for 24 hours !!!! Support can NOT do anything about it ! This, just is ridiculously stupid and I’m not sure how could this even fly in professional settings of any such services?!

Vorteile:

Priced competitively. Can use iphone to back up pictures

Nachteile:

Design is quite unappealing and development is confusing. Customer service is just ok, but they cant really help because of development

Easy to set up and use

Vorteile:

Ease of use, comprehensive dashboard, ample storage at a reasonable price pay per storage not per desk. Lots of configuration options and customization. Very good live phone support.

Nachteile:

Really don’t have any complaints at this time.

Solid backup performance - pay attention to the scheduler

Vorteile:

First, it works reliably. As simple as this sounds, some competitor products do not work reliably, and the solution is to uninstall and reinstall the software. The performance of iDrive has been solid.

Nachteile:

The software is not smart enough to figure out the last backup did not run and communicate it somehow or just launch the backup. The problem is, if your computer is off during the scheduled time, the backup will not run, and you may not find out about it. A solution would be to leave your computer on 24x7.

Great product, Somple to use.

I do not like the way it displays files AND folders all together in the mobile client. I am used to seeing folders first, then files.

Reliable and affordable could backup option

Vorteile:

IDrive was straightforward to deploy to multiple types of devices and has provided reliable cloud backup. I appreciate the option to deploy a backup client on a NAS device to streamline backups, in addition to the desktop client. The web client is easy to navigate to see status of backup activities. The annual backup subscription is quite affordable for the amount of space available.

Nachteile:

Viewing backup status of individual files is not as straightforward outside the IDrive desktop client. It would be helpful to be able to see the backup status of a file in the native file explorer applications.

Best translator's friend

Kommentare: I have positive experience with iDrive as it several times helped me when my project files got corrupted due to the hard disk failure and I was able to recover the files from the cloud.

Vorteile:

Huge storage for a price. Actually it is slightly too big for me. It gives me peace of mind that my files are secured and backed up in the cloud, and that I can recover them in no time. Also I can reach files on my mobile phone as sometimes my clients ask me to send the files when I am on the move.

Nachteile:

It takes time to get used to it and find out how everything works. Also it would be nice to have feature that I could see the backed up photos.

NOPE! Cheap means cheap

Kommentare: We ran into these problems before we got far, and contacted support. Initial support contact gave information that later turned out to be incorrect and time consuming. Our overall impression is that this company is just not up to speed.

Vorteile:

Ran into the CONS right away, so didn't find any pros, other than the price.

Nachteile:

The UI is poorly designed, so unclear and hard to use. Initial backup never completed because scheduling a stop time makes it START OVER. So if it didn't finish in one day's schedule, it will never finish. There are several different types of backups, but they are not all located on the BACKUP tab. The SYNC folder DEFAULTS to not keeping a local copy of the files you put in it. Also, you can't put the sync folder on an external hard drive.

Simple, reliable, effective, and non-intrusive

Kommentare: Ever since i purchased my Mac Airbook, I have had to keep all my important source code on an external drive because there is not enough room on the main drive. Seeing that external drive just lying out there on the desk next to my workstation, it has always concerned me about what would happen if that drive died. I have most of my source on versioning systems, but not all, and not useful tools and items like that. Since I put iDrive in and have it backing that drive up, I have had zero worries. Now I know my whole system can be nuked out of existence, and I wont lose a thing. That is peace of mind.

Vorteile:

Idrive covers alot of bases for me. I can select individual folders as well as external drives for backups. I can do schedules that just work in the background. Doesnt have any spinners or windows or anything that says "Hey look at me! Im doing something.". It just quietly works in the background, however it is nice to see the once a day message saying, "All done!" and that gives me peace of mind. To top it all off, they provide a cloud sync'd folder so any one off files and special case scenarios I run up against, I can just use that drive and it just works. IDrive cares about performance too. Unlike Google Drive, it does not max out my processor when it is working. In fact, it knows when I am working and will reduce its usage so not to bother me, but when I am away, it will take advantage of that and speed up the backups so it can finish as soon as it can. Very smart.

Nachteile:

Logs could use some help. The log summary list could use a little more detail. It would be nice if the log details were presented in a data grid format so sorting and grouping could be done so you can do things like look at all the Errors together without having to pick them out through all the other messages. At least provide the log in an XLS format so Excel can handle it.

Peace of Mind

Kommentare: I've been using this service as a daily backup for three years. Although I've only needed it once during that time, it saved my work, giving me peace of mind knowing my files are safe and secure.

Vorteile:

Daily backup option + Ability to restore old revised files + Cloud drive

Nachteile:

It's worth it, though a lower price might be even better.

It is simple to set-up, pricing for 5TB backup is affordable, I was able to add ALL my devices including, Laptops, Phones and iPads
