Kommentare: Taxes can be complicated and we did have some questions along the way. TaxJar always got back to us.

Vorteile:

It handled all aspects of our sales tax needs. We used it to manage real-time calculations so we collected the correct amounts. Then we used the TaxJar service that also files the taxes with each state. When we did have questions, they had answers. This allowed us to focus on the more important aspects of our business.

Great API, no way to capture tax exempt certificates for clients

Vorteile:

Rich API, calculations were accurate, API speed was very fast, initial setup was helped along by the team at TaxJar

Nachteile:

We saw real differences in the quality of the team after the Stripe acquisition. Further, no tool to capture tax exempt certificates for our customers.

Bad Customer Support

Kommentare: OK, but I can't get anyone to respond to questions/issues I have.

Vorteile:

They do a good job of handling sales tax issues.

Nachteile:

Lousy customer service when it comes to adding new states.

Taxjar will save you hours

Kommentare: TaxJar is a fantastic solution for tracking sales tax. It has saved me hours of time, prevented hundreds of errors, and probably saved a few penalties too !

Vorteile:

TaxJar makes sales tax a breeze. It pulls sales data from multiple platforms (in our case, 9 platforms) provides a consolidated report for each state that one can use to file your sales tax return. Alternatively, for a fairly average fee TaxJar will file for you. TaxJar saves me in the region of 20 hours per month.

Nachteile:

Honestly, I do not have anything bad to say about TaxJar. I feel their filing fee is slightly high, but I'm really nitpicking there....

Excellent product for most online sellers battling with interstate sales tax nexus

Kommentare: Overall experience has been great. It took some time to get set up because we have back sales we needed to import. But once everything was operational it saved us time each and every month.

Vorteile:

If you are on online seller with nexus in multiple states, this software will save you time. For marketplaces like eEbay and Amazon, sales are imported automatically and you are able to set up auto-file for the states which you have Nexus and need to file.

Nachteile:

If you sell items through an online marketplace which is a qualified "marketplace facilitator" you will currently not be able to upload items in a straightforward way with the basic account. At this point in time, they make you upgrade to the plus version before you have the features to upload items via CSV to have them report as a marketplace facilitator.

Classic bait and switch by sales. Non-existent support. Massive over-payment of sales taxes.

Kommentare: Unbelievably poor support once the sales transaction was complete. No communication automated or otherwise when serious issues happen that result in large transactions drafting from your bank accounts. No remorse or support when serious issues happen to recover funds drafted in overpayments. No priority support no matter what even when things go wrong fee based or otherwise, and absolutely no care or concern about it from anyone include the sales team.

Vorteile:

Initially what was pitched as a robust flexible API, auto-file service to take the burden of multi-state sales tax nexus off our finance team, and "great support" in the event of integration support needs or post purchase assistance. Great up-front sales response working to close the deal.

Nachteile:

1) Unclear or illogical API logic that results in under collections and overpayment. Senior software engineers with decades of backend billing systems integration experience confused by the way it functions. 2) When they autofile for your company, they will happily remit any amount ($10s of thousands of dollars!) more than you collect and not send any kind of alert or make any kind of contact informing you of this atrocity. 4) When you discover a major issue (like overpayment), they remind you the service is not managed, the onus is on you to check everything, and offer fee based services to refile returns once you've corrected data they used to over remit sales taxes to states with a wait time of *6 to 8* weeks. 5) Poor to nonexistent support (phone support goes to voicemail 99% of the time and callbacks never occur, emails take 3-5 days for responses and often need engineering to answer further questions which take a further number of days or weeks for a response). Little to no care or concern expressed whatsoever when support is needed. Sales answers the phone, support doesn't, but will sales not help you one bit after you've signed up with Taxjar. 6) A web interface that provides no ability to manually adjust anything other than whether a transaction is tax exempt or not. Searching for transactions is best done by exporting data and using excel. 7) Auto-file rendered useless in multiple states with sales tax exemptions the platform doesn't support.

Used to be good not its just an overpriced poorly supported app

Kommentare: Terrible. We were looking for a deep dive into the amazon configuration and setup, and support told us they have no configuration assistance anymore. It's only self-service. This company only cares about profits, not quality products/services.

Vorteile:

We used to like the software, but it has become a hodgepodge of features with no real thought put into the interface design. It is very confusing to use.Additionally, the company now provides zero integration and setup support. Their model is self-service which I find to be very ridiculous for something complex like taxes. We are moving to Aclara.

Nachteile:

They used to provide support and assistance with configuration, and now it is self-service. The support articles are very canned and just give you basic directions on connecting things with no real explanation of the configuration of how the system works.

TaxJar Review

Kommentare: It's very seamless compared to a few other apps like QuickBooks and TurboTax because it automated the tedious processes.

Vorteile:

The tax jar is very comprehensive and good for a lot of different commerce businesses or people thinking about going online with their current service businesses.

Nachteile:

The softwares cost to implement is more than it's worth to pay for monthly with a subscription.

Saves our business time and money

Kommentare: TaxJar is a great alternative to Avalara in terms of price and functionality. The service leaves something to be wanted at the lower end of the pricing scheme. Overall, it does what we need it to do.

Vorteile:

TaxJar is a fully featured taxation product for our e-commerce business. I'm amazed that something so fully featured is available at such a low price. It integrates with our e-commerce plugin WooCommerce.

Nachteile:

The service at the low price point is very poor. It feels like they do this intentionally to get you to upgrade.

This is one of those `invisble helpers you cannot live without.

Vorteile:

Best support to handle sales taxes with omni channel business. Our omni channel sale tax collection is on auto pilot. It integrates flawlessly with amazon and Shopify and we haven't had any issue at all. TaxJar just does the job.

Takes The Headache Out Of Sales Tax Collection

Kommentare: What I really liked about Taxjar was the fact that it made an intimidating subject a lot easier for me. Having to collect and remit sales tax can be a challenge for a beginning business owner, but this software takes some of the pressure off.

Vorteile:

I signed up for TaxJar as an effort to simplify my online business when it came to taxes. I needed help not only determining which states I had nexus in, but also with automatic tracking of sales tax collection. Taxjar helped me with both, and when it came time to file, TaxJar gave me notifications so I would not be late. Even better, there is an option to auto file, so I barely had to worry about it at all. They also have a great blog and newsletter to keep you up to date with the latest tax news and tips.

Nachteile:

There were some times when I first started my business that my sales were low, but there is no flexible pricing option for those times. Depending on how you are doing you may not be making enough to justify the cost. It really depends on each person's business however.

We discovered that the software was not calculating tax rates correctly, so we had to stop using it.

Kommentare: Customer service is excellent. We find the software a critical part of our monthly and quarterly sales and use tax process. We allow TaxJar to auto file for our large volume states, saving us hours of work. We manually file our other states and TaxJar’s organization makes its incredibly easy and, in our view, a critical part of our financial work.

Vorteile:

The depth of organization and ease of data acces.

Nachteile:

There is nothing I can think of - TaxJar even highlights states where I might have nexus

I am not familiar with state sales taxes at all, and TaxJar made it so much easier!

Vorteile:

I can have all my states in one place and see all the statuses. I love that customer service is quick to respond and helpful to people who know nothing about state taxes such as myself.

Nachteile:

It is difficult to navigate when you don't know much about taxes. Specifically when I try to autofile and don't owe any taxes, I have to create mock files. This is almost impossible to figure out on the platform without customer support being involved to explain.

With all of the changes going on with sales tax these guys help set you up with all of the tools you need to be compliant.

Nachteile:

The software and the team are great, I would highly recommend them.

Extremely Easy to Use

Kommentare: Extreme time savings. Could not conduct sales tax without this software.

Vorteile:

Saves me days of time by automating everything that has to do with sales tax. Customer support is fast and friendly.

Nachteile:

I would love to see more educational tips and suggestions around the individual states and difficulty levels around filing manually. There are some states where it is almost impossible to do it yourself.

TaxJar addresses a major pain point in my business and does it well.

Vorteile:

For the amount of data that is available, the layout doesn't feel overwhelming. There are helpful tip icons for certain items that make the software easier to learn.

Nachteile:

I think the cost for autofiling is a bit high, especially in the states which I file monthly. Perhaps a tiered pricing model?

Super Easy to use, and the most important part is the accuracy.

Time saver, We have full confidence and trust this product, Can have reports that shows how much we pay to each state and we can plan our cash flow based on the calculation in advance.

Nachteile:

I don't have anything to say on this one, since we start using it we notice the value in it. MAybe the can be integrated with a accounting software and will be a lot better.

Life Changing For Any E-Commerce Store

Vorteile:

It's very easy to use unlike other softwares and their tax-are calculations are always right.

Nachteile:

The software does not work well if you sell on channels that do not integrate with TaxJar.

Ease of use, easy to login and check status also the filing is really easy and is taking the stress off paying taxes

Nachteile:

Confusing ways to auto file. Not clear on ways to file. Need more training videos. Some graphics aren't clear whether we are files or not. Otherwise s great program.

Taxjar make

Kommentare: Definitely work the price i pay monthly, so far i have not had any bad experiences everything is seamless

I love that i dont have to worry too much about the tax side of things taxjar pretty much takes care of it for me and the process is very simple I just pay the monthly fee

Nachteile:

It'll be easier for me if i received autofiled notifications by text as well since sometimes my email notifications ended up in my spam

Great software for small business

Kommentare: I would recommend this product to anyone using Shopify as their ecommerce platform but not if they are using Wix.com

Vorteile:

This software took care of all of my bookkeeping worries. It integrates seamlessly with Shopify. You pretty much just set up all of your details at the beginning and let TaxJar do the dirty work.

Nachteile:

I recently switched to Wix.com as my ecommerce platform. I was disappointed to find that there was no TaxJar app to pair seamlessly with my site like when I was with Shopify. I'm hoping that they change that one day.

Fast and Personalized Service!

Kommentare: The most important thing about this software and TaxJar as a company was the fast customer service. Everyone was always very helpful to me with my questions and software navigation. Im so happy I joined TaxJar as my state tax service

I am not a computer wiz but this software was easy to understand and navigate through.

I did not find any area of this software that was difficult to understand or navigate through.

It's become a life-saver for our small business

Vorteile:

I am so happy to have found this app! It integrates with our Squarespace website and saves hours of time and confusion to automate the sales tax payments to our state. Highly recommend it!

Nachteile:

I only wish that they could make it more clear as to exactly what sales tax to be collecting from our customers. Their SmartCalcs portion of the app seems great, but have yet to figure out how to integrate that with our Squarespace site.
