I think the feature I love about OVPN Access Server is the ease of use and the accessibility for new users, with no technical experience, to set up and use the software.

Nachteile:

I think the first set up to configure is a bit harsh, but that's fine because it ensures that you prepare a robust environment and can protect you from things you don't know about in your first steps.

Great option for having your own VPN

It is very reliable and fast to connect, easy to manage users and the stability is 10/10

Since it requires your own server to deploy it mat be more expensive depending on the numbers of users

Good VPN Service

Kommentare: It gives me the freedom to change my IP address.

OpenVPN is available for Ipads, Android and PC and gives you the flexibility to change your IP: address.

Nachteile:

The first impression of the software is it is difficult to setup compared with other services, however after some time you get used to it.

Probably my favourite enterprise VPN solition

Kommentare: I first used OpenVPN at a company in 2021, I enjoyed managing it so much and found it so easy to use yet fit for purpose and importantly, secure, that I've implemented it at all 4 companies I have worked at since then, including my current one now. From how easy it is to get started, how customisable it is, how reliable and robust it is, how fair priced it is to how good the support team are I keep going back to it for a reason.

Vorteile:

Other than offering a free plan, I love how quickly and user friendly it is to get started with the setup. From signing up to downloading and installing the appliance the entire thing can be done and up and running in basic form in around 20/30 minutes.

Nachteile:

Purely because I am struggling to think of anything else the Azure SAML SSO is a bit clunky. It requires the user to sign in via a web browser, which is usual, but then there's a lingering tab which is supposed to automatically close after 5 seconds but often doesn't, or there is a message within the OpenVPN app that says an error occurred and prompts the user to retry but it doesn't actually fail, it works. But these are minuscule issues that don't stop us from using the app or impact performance.

It's reliable and easy to use, the option to work with desktop and web apps is great, you don't spend a lot of time connecting, and the performance overall is very stable using the VPN.

Nachteile:

I encountered some bugs where you can't access the VPN, and you need to restart in order to successfully connect.

Easy to use and convenient. Setup with AWS cloud is super easy.

Nachteile:

Not much to dislike. However I wish this could be setup using bash scripts as well.

Good self-hosted VPN

Vorteile:

OpenVPN Access Server is the easiest self-hosted VPN to install and administer.

Nachteile:

OpenVPN Access Server license price is too high

Secure Browsing

We use this at my manufacturing job to look at cameras pointed at machines to see when they are done and we aren’t at the shop.

Nachteile:

So far have experienced no cons. It works great for what we need.

Very good VPN

We use this VPN on a daily basis to protect our service departments information .. it works very well.

Nachteile:

It can be slow dependent on where you are accessing it from.. I have " mid-tier " internet at my home, so when utilizing a VPN that already " slows " your speeds, combining it with average internet is definitly a snail race.. But better safe than sorry!

Vorteile:

It gives you the security you needed for your access, documents and log in credentials. I've used this on my previous job.

Nachteile:

Can't recall any difficulties as far as I remember.

Open to making the best VPN client out there

Vorteile:

OpenVPN has a user-friendly interface, that is easy to navigate. In just a few minutes, anyone can get started with setting up a virtual private network even without much computer skills, because it is compatible with various operating systems such as Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. Most importantly, it is open-source, meaning that it has the largest amount of documentation and tutorials online if you are ever facing troubles.

Nachteile:

The configuration can become tedious if you are not used to networking lingo and words, once it's set up though, you can set it and forget it. In my opinion, some default settings should be in place for newer users that aren't experienced. Such as disabling one's internet connection if the VPN fails to work (kill switch).

Excellent VPN Option

Kommentare: I use OpenVPN to access my company's network when I am working remotely. This keeps me productive no matter where I am. It works great and I have literally never had an issue with it.

Vorteile:

I have used many other VPN clients before and OpenVPN is my favorite. All clients do a fine job of getting me VPN access when I need it, but OpenVPN keeps me connected while my laptop is off or asleep and it remembers my login credentials to make signing back in very quick.

Nachteile:

I really have nothing to complain about. OpenVPN is a very simple and useful VPN client. I have used it for a while with zero issues.

OpenVPN / Router Client is a Viable Choice for Privacy and Security

Kommentare: I have found OpenVPN when implemented at the router level to be an effective means of protecting one's internet activities from intruders and bad actors. Performance could be better.

Vorteile:

I like that I can setup OpenVPN at the router level for my organization and not have to install a VPN client on each device.

Nachteile:

OpenVPN degrades performance noticeably (i.e., about 66%) compared to unprotected internet access.

Private network easily

Vorteile:

Really easy to use, and super compact. You can connect and create a vpn server really quickly.

Nachteile:

Requires a lot of knowledge to do it good and secure, and should be more explanations

The simple solution we were looking for

Kommentare: Great way to quickly get a team connected to our cloud VPN server.
This was the infrastructure integration piece we needed for a smooth rollout.
We used it to grant access to our custom cyber range build within the AWS cloud.

Vorteile:

Straightforward to install and keep updated. Easy to set up multiple connection profiles. Configurable to run in the background, and provide seamless connections.

Nachteile:

Seems to be resource-intensive, even when it's not doing anything. Version updates are not automatic.

Utilitarian VPN server

Vorteile:

Based off the open sourced free version it tends to have updates for security problems fixed very quickly when they occur. Once configured it works smoothly. The LDAP integration for the business version is pretty slick

Nachteile:

Configuration can be tricky depending on your certificate setups and your installation (specifically on windows, had some files in the wrong directory and in the wrong format initially). Updates are frequent which is good but aren't clandestine as I would expect them to be.

Easy to use. Easy to install. Easy to connect. Lots of servers other than the work based configuration. It also has different user interface languages. Simple UI. Can add extra configuration files through the installed directory.

Nachteile:

Sometimes needed to reconnect the VPN because of not getting connected through the channel. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get connected.

This Virtual Private Network allows me to access the website those work inappropriately OpenVPN Access Server is the best VPN software that resolves my issues which occurs while browsing. I will get updates off n on to secure connections.

Nachteile:

I need customer support through email or chat but i am unable to contact with them, because i want to tell them about some issues. But i have no disadvantages about this software. 100% recommended.

Very secure VPN

Kommentare: Overall I have a very positive experience with OpenVPN, I have not had any technical issue or noticed any bugs since onboarding with them.

Vorteile:

Working with proprietary data means that we need the best security possible to access our network - OpenVPN makes this extremely easy to do this without worrying about network security when we are not in the office.

Nachteile:

Setup can be improved to be more simple but I understand the amount of security it must take to make sure it runs properly - our IT team was able to help us through this.

Solid VPN server product

I didn't find anything with OpenVPN Access Server that I didn't like. It had an easy to configure interface and the client just worked.

Easy to Use, Works Better Than Manufacturer Provided Client

Kommentare: Our OpenVPN experience has been very positive compared to it's alternatives.

Vorteile:

We were having issues with the manufacturer provided VPN client, but once we switched to using the OpenVPN client we have had very little issues

Nachteile:

We do not have many options, but at least it takes a config file from our provider which makes it easier to use the options.
