My Tours has significantly enhanced our visitor experience, saved money, and made tours easier
Vorteile:
How easy it is to add and maintain content to deliver a polished, professional, and customized app without requiring specialized skills or outside contractors. This app has greatly improved the way we deliver tours and reduced our costs (both direct expenses and staff time).
Nachteile:
There are limitations in the tour building interface (most notably the ability to move individual stops between tours) but there are reasonable work-arounds and the developer is highly responsive with support and regular improvements.

Vorteile:
The app was easy to use from the back end (intuitive) and allowed for all the features we were looking for in our walking tour project: off-line use, GPS location, audio files, video, photo, etc.
Nachteile:
We didn't have the posibility of providing permissions to "add only", "delete spots", "edit text" or "view only" on the back end which hurt us a bit when one of our content developers over thought some things and deleted where they should not have. It made it a bit hard to go back and find what connect had been on the deleted spots. Perhaps a 5 day "reactivation" of deleted spots could be a useful option if a mistake is made. But then again the error was a human one and not that of My Tours. Hard to develop out every potential for human error/misunderstanding. Each spot (primary or secondary) only allowed for one audio recording. We often wanted more than one and had to find away around that by creating secondary spots just to house additional audio content like interviews).
Overall amazing, great customer support and a good cms to build the tours.

Nachteile:
Ther is no option to automatically draw lines between locations, so that users can navigate easily. It might also be a good idea to have an explanation section for the symbols in the app, especially for our museum because a lot of our visitors are older people.

Kommentare: I almost never write reviews of any kind, but I feel compelled to do so in this case because of my outstanding experience with MyTours. Their tour builder is designed for simplicity and ease-of-use, with an intuitive interface and quick learning curve. But this doesn't mean that they've sacrificed functionality. Every feature that I could imagine is included in the basic product, and you're not forced to upgrade to a premium version to get the job done. I can't say enough good things about their technical support. Frankly, I was a bit skeptical about the responsiveness I might receive from halfway around the globe (I'm in California). But I always got a timely and complete response to every inquiry. I also never felt that they were talking down to me if I asked a simple first-time-user question. MyTours also took care of every aspect of the process of releasing my walking tour. They advised me on how to sign up for Apple and Google developer programs. Then they handled the technical details so that I could focus on creating my content. From my initial contact with the founder and CEO Glen Barnes, through the development and release of my walking tour and beyond, my experience has been top notch. I have already recommended MyTours to a neighboring community who are in the early selection process, and will continue to do so in the future.
