We needed an intuitive but robust network monitoring solution

As an MSP managing multiple unique networks, we sought a robust solution for network and systems monitoring across a large number of environments. Our critical requirement was that the solution be easy to deploy and intuitive, as we have a large number of staff relying on it daily. Domotz has met our needs exceptionally well. After initiating a proof of concept, it became evident that Domotz would significantly enhance our operational capabilities. The setup was quick and straightforward, allowing us to see immediate improvements in network management and monitoring. Our interactions with the Domotz team have been consistently positive, especially with the account management department. Their proactive approach in ensuring the software meets our needs, coupled with regular updates on new features, is a testament to their excellent customer service. The technical support team is responsive and receptive to feedback, which has been instrumental in refining the product. As new features continue to be introduced, we look forward to seeing further enhancements.

Nachteile:

No obvious downsides. We look forward to seeing what new features and functionality are coming in the future.

Domotz as my MSPs primary network monitoring solution

Kommentare: Domotz meets our requirements for easy-to-use, easy-to-set-up network monitoring very well. The setup-and-forget nature of the platform allows us to allocate more time to assisting our customers, confident that Domotz will alert us if any attention is needed in their network environments.

Vorteile:

As a company committed to efficient network management, we have found Domotz to be a great tool for monitoring our customers’ networking environments. Our focus lies in real-time visibility rather than diving into intricate metrics and statistics. Domotz allows us to assess the overall health of our customers' network infrastructures real time and at any time of the day. Onboarding new customers is effortless.

Nachteile:

For customers with multiple locations and extensive VLANs, we find that the existing licensing structure does not always fully accommodate our expectations. These scenarios often necessitate the use of multiple (licensed) agents and/or coping with additional costs to lift the fixed VLAN limitation per agent.

Domotz is a game-changer for managing my network. It's intuitive and effective.

Vorteile:

The remote monitoring and management features are top-notch. I can monitor and troubleshoot my network from anywhere.

Nachteile:

The interface could be more user-friendly, and the pricing is on the higher side.

Best Remote Management Platform on the Market!

Kommentare: I've been using it daily for 6 years and it keeps getting better. The best remote management platform I've used.

Vorteile:

Easy setup, intuitive layout and customizable alerts. Domotz has far more diagnostic tools than other monitoring platforms and their customer service is fantastic with quick response time.

Nachteile:

Every feature that I've requested in the past has been implemented, so at this point there's nothing I don't like!

Simply & Effective

Kommentare: Of all the network monitoring services that I have tested, Domotz is unfortunately the simplest to use with the optimal number of alerts. I am sure Zabbix would be a better solution, but the learning curve is too difficult for a small IT team. I originally was using their remote access tool, but it lacked the necessary security measures for our networks. I do run an additional tool internally for scanning internal assets with greater details, but Domotz does a good enough job for when I am out of the office and need to monitor general health. I believe I could customize Domotz a lot more than I have, but just have not had the time to dig into that side of the service due to workload.

Vorteile:

Simple setup especially for small networks, relevant notifications on app, site device outage alerts, Android app, network health dashboard, constant development

Nachteile:

STP monitoring doesn't work very well, does not support multiple network monitors on same network for redundancy, does not integrate with Tailscale or Twingate, Network Topology is not accurate, does not support linking sites to see outages across multiple isolated networks, frequent service outages, external port security is not accurate

Garland Tech Review

Kommentare: Overall I've been impressed with how easy the system is to setup, add your agent, and get visibility on devices very quickly. It integrates with our tool stack simply and provides information there. I'm excited to turn on alerting, so we're able to resolve some alerting issues that are problematic with the native tools we use.

Vorteile:

I love the one price, and that it links up with Unifi. I also like that it'll monitor iDRAC and other ILO devices.

Nachteile:

Doesn't do cloud, non hybrid systems will without a "Domotz Box". It also only runs SNMP scan every 30 minutes, where we used to 5. Costs start to go up radically as you add features that a lot of other products have built in for their price.

Domotoz is the network management tool that you need

Kommentare: Amazing. working with them and joining the partner program is one of the smarter things I have done.

Vorteile:

price/features/mobile app. All of these allow my MSP to manage all of our clients network equipement

Nachteile:

That you have to set up a new client with an agent. Typically I want to build out all my tools prior, I understand why this is, but maybe I could build them in the portal and link an agent when it gets installed.

Great network tool for MSPs

Kommentare: Theyve been a great true partner to our MSP and we feel they are on our side.

Vorteile:

As an MSP we utilize Domotz to discover and monitor customer infrastructure. Domotz has made it so easy to do this for us. We have a quick deployment that saves us and our customers cost, while providing integration for alerts, ticketing, and monitoring tools. They value their partners and are always willing to engage. Monitoring Meraki and Unifi networks, switches, firewalls, access points, integrating these monitors into tickets in Autotask.

Nachteile:

We had some troubles with agents per network, but was able to resolve this with the team and we are so happy now.

a good product, a great team, every year is better

Vorteile:

Ease of deployment, scan speed, fast interface. Great support. Really good SNMP support, with predefined settings for many brands/devices. Flexible alerting. Many integrations.

Nachteile:

Alerts and monitors must be defined per device. I know they are developing a tag/filter method for applying settings to devices, but it's still not there.

Network Lifesaver

Vorteile:

Domotz is very affordable vs. other tools that want a minimum commitment or charge on a per-device model. Their per-site model is excellent. It seems to pay for itself every month when there's an immediate notification of an IP conflict or we need to quickly bounce into the config of a random device that wasn't documented when onboarding a new client. The Domotz box is an awesome inexpensive solution for client sites without a server to host the agent.

Nachteile:

I haven't found a con so far. There are some MIBs that need updating, but support has been very helpful when we've had questions about Domotz.

An outstanding network monitoring tool!

Nachteile:

The only thing that comes to mind is that its price has gone up 2x since I started using it. The increase is not huge, but we don't like price increases.

Kommentare: In summary, since its inception, Domotz Pro has taken an enormous step forward, becoming a complete, versatile, customizable, and competitive monitoring solution for complete monitoring, from SOHO to enterprise environments, with fast, efficient, and "human" support.

Vorteile:

snmp template, ssh agentless integration, ease of use, "human" and fast support

Nachteile:

since the advent of "pro", my personal cons are gone

Domotz PRO

Kommentare: Supporting a network in another city 700 km away means I can't just get in a car to go and reboot a server. Domotz has never failed in allowing me to sort out emerging problems. I get alerted if a new device gets added to the network or when important devices disappear or go offline. Network issues can be monitored and corrected before they become a problem.

Vorteile:

The agent is very simple to configure and this has improved significantly over the years I have been using the product. I seem to recall downloading the software and running install scripts in the early days but current versions can be installed via the SNAP Store for ultimate simplicity and ease of setup. Once installed, a browser is needed to access the agent to configure it to connect to the Domotz cloud. From then on, everything can be configured and accessed from the Domotz apps, anywhere, anytime. The Domotz apps on desktop and iPad offer the same views and actions making it very easy to administer networks.

Nachteile:

Sometimes the speed of operations appear to be slower than I would like however taking into account the scale of complexities that go into providing a secure tunnel between networks across the Internet it is a reasonable compromise.

Domotz Pro - All the features you need

Vorteile:

Low time to value. Setup was quick and easy and the process well thought though. SaaS based solution with the only local installs being the agents.

Nachteile:

Cost could be prohibitive for small organisations or for private use.

A very good way to keep track of your networks.

Kommentare: I have been using Domotz Pro for almost 2 years now and my main purpose
was to get a good program that could spot new devices popping up in the
network to spot strange behavior BUT also to keep track of the status
of all my existing "good" devices and see if important ones goes
offline. I have tried to find other similar products on the market but
have not found one that is as good as Domotz.

Vorteile:

Very quickly spots new devices in the network and also keeps track of what port in the switch it comes through. And also keeps a good view of all the devices and tracks status. Also the software is developed and new smart features and is added on a regular basis.

Nachteile:

So far there is really no things that I dislike. It really works OK in my opinion. The only thing that I do not like is that they have removed the "Lite" version so private persons like myself could afford to use this powerful software. (I have been running the "Legacy Lite plan" at an affordable level for a private user but you could not order that any more) However, apart from that and for businesses I still would recommend this as it is a good software for sure.

Perfect, essential for every IT administrator

An indispensable program for administrators or IT technicians, keeps track of all the company network products in order. It allows in advance to intervene by the customer in case of failures, the app is easy and intuitive, allows you to have alerts of what happens in the network in real time! Forwarding have recently opened to third-party developers this means the possibility of integrating or having many innovations in terms of integration, from the asset software to the hw asset, I am confident that these indispensable functions will soon arrive! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It was a long time since I was looking for a similar product

Nachteile:

I have not seen any obvious defects, the only improvement I can recommend, to lighten up the old-style PC graphics

Domotz For Prosumer/Enthusiast

Kommentare: I’ve been using Domotz for around 2 years. The product has enabled me to set up comprehensive monitoring and alerting of my home network and extensive home automation set up with ease.

Vorteile:

A full-featured monitoring solution with an excellent web and mobile app, the integration with Ubiquiti network kit(including the capability to power cycle PoE devices) and it's VPN capabilities enable you to respond to issues through one unified interface. API enables integration with other platforms with ease, and the customer service is excellent. I can't recommend the product highly enough for the enthusiast/prosumer and for professional use

Nachteile:

Very little not to like, whilst on the expensive side for personal / enthusiast usage - you very much get what you pay for.

Domotz on my SYnology NAS

Vorteile:

I like the ease of use of the application. I installed Domotz on my synology NAS. After registration the agent mapped my network. I also like the quick detection of new devices. And the periotic bandtwith test is perfect to get a grip on my ISP performance.I also like the Android app So i can monitor the network when I am away.

Nachteile:

I do not know if this is my knowledge of the application (did not look at the Faq or contacted support yet), but I can approve ports on the network, but not on host.

The right tool for right job

Nachteile:

If you there is no possibility to install an agent, you need to purchase the Domotz box which is was only available through Amazon in Italy. Also the price has double on this device in the last 6 month.

Changing Landscape of Remote Support

Kommentare: We are solving many issues every day through the use of Domotz. When we do have an issue with anything within the Domotz environment reaching out to their tech support gets us a resolution very quickly, i would guess around 15-20 mins. They have been a great company to partner with!

Vorteile:

Domotz has enabled me to be proactive in supporting clients. The notifications let me know when a device drops from the network. I can then open the remote app from anywhere, and see if it is something i can fix remotely. Typically devices lock up and need a power cycle. Domotz has support for PDUs like the Wattbox, Luxul, and BlueBolt which make fixing a potential issue a snap!

Nachteile:

I don't have any issues with the software. the "issue" is once you see what it can do you want more. So constantly asking Domotz if it would be possible to build in XYZ.

Must have MSP Tool

Kommentare: Domotz is a great tool and a must have tool for MSP. Not only is the software killer, their support is 5 stars!

Vorteile:

Domotz is a must have MSP tool. It gives us the ability to not only monitor and configure custom alerts for each of our clients but it allow us to quickly resolve issues right from the application or mobile app. Being able to quickly restart an access point or switch, turn on PoE on a specific port or create a tunnel to remotely access needed resources is super powerful.

Nachteile:

Domotz doesn't have the ability to collapse a single client's locations in one heading in the app.

Fantastic for small MSP

Kommentare: The experience has been fantastic. I am not an MSP so cost is a big deal.
You get a lot of bang for your buck with this especially when you support home users.
The monitoring and alerts alone are so worth it.
Also the raspberry pi or linux agent support is fantastic.
I run my main agent in a ubuntu vm in VMware ESXi and it runs flawlessly.
All my other sites are run off Raspberry pi 3's. Also run flawlessly.

Vorteile:

Ease of use is a big plus. The web interface and mobile app are nice and polished. The ability to create a direct link to a certain service e.g ssh or http(s) is my most used feature. Being able to set custom alerts is also a big plus.

Nachteile:

The software isn't as intuitive as I would like with discovery or vendor support. But each release seems to get better and better.

Domotz Box

Kommentare: Very satisfied. Easy to deploy options, easy to use, wealth of information. Support has been very acceptable and response.

Vorteile:

Ease of deployment. Ease of use. Wealth of options. I'm an early adopter, I've used the Domotz Box from the get go. However, they have easy to deploy using Raspberry Pi, Synology, Windows or Linux. VPN and RDP are awesome. Continued expansion of support for specific network attached gear.

Nachteile:

Not much ... does what I need it to do. I'm disappointed that they removed the Lite version for home/personal use, that was way affordable for the individual user.
