After the pandemic, Blackboard Learn became a staple for online education

Vorteile:

I like that it organizes courses in a very neat way, the website is easy to navigate and looks great visually. The calendar is very helpful.

Nachteile:

It's not very easy to use for teachers. They often have a hard time understanding all of the features Blackboard provides.

Functional Beast

Kommentare: I have enjoyed using Blackboard Learn and feel that it meets all the needs of an online learning platform in terms of function.

Vorteile:

I love how functional it is and how thoughtfully crafted it is for students and instructors alike.

Nachteile:

At times the interface lacks aesthetic value, especially when it comes to writing your own responses on the platform and using it on a mobile device.

Blackboard....there may be better resources

Kommentare: Blackboard is competitive with Canvas and other course management systems for higher education. It can be used across synchronous, asychronous and hybrid course offerings. It is a bit limited in its customizability features, but overall it is a solid course management system.

Vorteile:

Blackboard is fairly easy to use and is easy to onboard with. It is familar to most students and professors.

Nachteile:

Some of my least favorite features included the limits on customizability of the course features (such as colors) and the clunky UI.

Kommentare: My overall experience with Blackboard is great, The best online classroom ever i really do love it.

Vorteile:

I love everything about Blackboard Learn I love that I can see and check on my grades weekly Try to turn items in as well that are late. I love that I can reach out to my teacher whenever I need their help with things as well.

Nachteile:

Sometimes if would freeze or log me out if you are not active in your session. but anything else i love it.

An Honest Review of Blackboard

Vorteile:

Blackboard was the tool faculty used most to relay any information about grades, curriculum changes, and other announcements. It made it easier to navigate individual courses, especially in the circumstances in which I needed to miss class. I used Blackboard for four years and could not have survived college without it.

Nachteile:

I think the biggest con of Blackboard Learn is the esthetics. Unlike other learning management systems such as Canvas, the Blackboard Learn interface simply feels a little more outdated. That being said, with this being my main con, it was overall a wonderful tool in my undergraduate education.

Blackboard Daily!

Kommentare: Very happy with the ease of use and quickness to complete work.

Vorteile:

Blackboard is so easy to use. Posting assignments, having discussions and accessing materials is so simple to do.

Nachteile:

Nothing was wrong with the program itself.

Great but needed to update

Vorteile:

Blackboard did do a great job of organizing online classes and content was hard to find.

Nachteile:

The app wasn't as user friendly and as an organization it had too many university-wide breakdowns.

Blackboard Learn for Aiken Technical College's Embedded Librarian Program

Kommentare: I post announcements about our Library's online resources and also monitor a Discussion Board thread called "Ask a Librarian." I get plenty of questions in the Discussion Board and also in response to the announcements, especially closer to assignment due dates.

Vorteile:

I can post a variety of media in the Announcements section and in the Content Areas. The more options I can give students to access the information they need, the better.

Nachteile:

There may be a way to do this and I haven't figured out how yet, but I would like to be able to transfer a whole content area from one course to another instead of starting from scratch each time.

BlackBoard Learn is a Relic of a Bygone Era

Kommentare: I have used BlackBoard Learn for 5 years now, and I can report that it's a tool that I've tolerated with a fair degree of frustration, as opposed to a tool that I'd relish and recommend to others.

Vorteile:

BlackBoard Learn is a reliable tool for basic communication, content collection, and assessments. There are convenience factors baked into its framework in the sense that instructors can readily copy and reuse materials from earlier semesters, but other capabilities have far surpassed the benefits of this complacency factor. Also, the price point of BlackBoard Learn is extremely compelling, and they have reliable customer support and service.

Nachteile:

Doing anything on BlackBoard Learn requires significantly more clicks and testing than competing products. The design is clunky, and it directly contradicts the instructional delivery of faculty who know what else is out there, as well as the learning-design preferences of Gen-Z students.

Perfect and always saves time

Vorteile:

The softwares capacity to synchronize contacts and users information.

Nachteile:

Near to perfect but it has little hitch when it comes to support.

Blackboard, learn in a complex fashion

Kommentare: If you compare this to operating systems, blackboard provides a more linux/windows experience. The platform is robust and complex with a lot to offer, but this pro at the same time makes it a downside since it is not user friendly compared to other market competitors. As a student who used it for 3+ years. I understand and appreciate what the platform provides but I prefer simplicity over complexity.

Vorteile:

The big scale design of the platform is ideal to have all your academic needs in one. Access to a combine calendar allowing for easy visualization of homeworks, projects and tasks. Easy view of currents classes and course materials. With the years of experience this platform is reliable and complete.

Nachteile:

Even though the complexity is robust, sometimes it can be overwhelming for students and ease of access across the platform is not the best compared to other market competitors.

Easy to use and user friendly platform

Kommentare: Blackboard is a very advanced tool to help elevate the online learning experience and it’s also easy to use.

Vorteile:

It’s impressive how online learning can be easily managed by utilizing key features. It’s virtual classroom and assignment/tests are one of the best in the industry.

Nachteile:

Sometimes it takes too long to load the documents or lags when all the students log in at the same time for a common use like test or group activity.

A helpful LMS from the student perspective.

Kommentare: I think that overall it was functional and did the job. I think there is room for improvement, but it functions in the way you'd expect from an LMS.

Vorteile:

I liked that you could set it to send reminders about when upcoming assignments were due. It was very helpful from that perspective.

Nachteile:

I thought the user interface was clunky and needed work. It was sometimes hard to navigate and there would often be times where students would have to ask how to do something in the platform.

Comprehensive learning management system

Vorteile:

What I like most about this app is the ability to discuss topics in the app's discussion forums. It also offers a gradebook function that simplifies the grading process and allows students to track their progress throughout the course.

Nachteile:

The platform can sometimes be slow and prone to technical glitches.

Used as a Student

Vorteile:

All of my online college courses were in Blackboard.

Nachteile:

If you use the back button during a quiz sometimes it would end your quiz

Daily Use!

Vorteile:

I used CivicTrack all thru my education. It was simple to use and kept all of my course work and information in one place. Loved it!

Nachteile:

Some professors wouldn't use it properly/avidly (i.e. change of due date on an assignment). It would glitch rarely.

blackboard Learn for undergraduate classes

Kommentare: I used blackboard as a graduate student and I have been using it now as an instructor for my larger chemistry classes with 200 to 250 students, and it is really very helpful, makes my classes run smoothly.

Vorteile:

it is easy to post all assignments, class materials, notes and grades using blackboard. Especially for larger classes I don't have to print the paper copy, posting the class material on blackboard will help students to print and refer to the material easily. Gradebook is one of the best features of blackboard, I have quizzes almost everyday for my students, posting these quizzes grades were very straightforward using blackboard. I have also used blackboard for online quizzes and exams, and for lab exams.

Nachteile:

Blackboard gets slower when many people are using at the same time and some times it becomes unavailable due to maintenance(but we do get notice prior to it). other than that I had no issue with it.

Does the job and has everything you need

Kommentare: I like that it does a little bit of everything. Some other professors at my university liked to rely on BB Learn for everything, including video-conference and online exams. Being as feature rich as it is, BB Learn has the problem that the user interface might be very challenging for some people. I guess you either really like it or really don't, so when it doesn't click you can get frustrated by a lot of things. Still, for the people loving it, they will make the most out of it. One of the best tools out there. Easy to recommend for general purposes.

Vorteile:

I like that if you're a power user and your students get into it, this is probably the only eLearning tool you will ever need. It has everything from homework assignments to actual video-conference; besides of the usual tools like forums and work groups. The online exams are very useful, specially if you don't want to manually grade tons and tons of tests.

Nachteile:

I don't like the user interface. Most of the tools are one more click away than I think they should. Very useful things like the exams are really powerful, but creating them is so awkward that sometimes you prefer to just handle a document.

Great LMS for school or uni

Vorteile:

Blackboard is reliable and easy to use LMS, requiring little to no direction or training for new users. Communication and notifications are great, found all in one place for easy access and viewing. Gradebook is another fantastic feature. All the information about your assessments can be found in one place, including submission dates, marking criteria and overall grades. Submission process is great, allowing users to thoroughly review their documents and their similarity report before submission.

Nachteile:

UI could be updated to be more user-friendly, e.g., minimise clicks, add more shortcuts for site navigation. Features to allow for collaboration in group projects/tasks would be useful as many users prefer external software for collaboration, communication between students and instructors and productivity. However, it is perfectly adequate for users familiar with the LMS.

Functional, with some philosophical flaws

Kommentare: It served its purpose and I don't recall any major issues with use, but when I graduated high school I was delighted to switch to Canvas in college instead. Everything about Blackboard struck me, as a student, as outdated and depressing.

Vorteile:

Blackboard is easy to learn and usually intuitively easy for any goal you have. It helps coordinate large teams or classes, and with creative use can be set up to use most styles of teaching (group discussions, online learning, video/attachments, etc).

Nachteile:

My concerns with Blackboard are at the philosophical level. From the way it is systematically set up, you can tell that it uses some outdated methods of teaching. Use as a student can feel oppressive, with students too easily shut down and overruled and the general aesthetic vibe being a bit darker and more confined than examples such as Canvas.
