I have no idea why but their dunning engine will send messages to people prior to charging their credit cards. So far its worked and it's saved me hours of doing this myself by exporting everything to an Excel spreadsheet to view our custom fintech variables. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the api helped bridge the gap between Chargebee and our other accounting tools. It has recovered some of the failed payments.
