Whenever a new major version of Delphi is released, a corresponding updated version of UniDAC is released shortly thereafter. Migrating from FireDac to UniDac was problem free. But, I had a vexxing problem for work where we use Microsoft SQL Server. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not make a version compatible with Windows 11 ARM (let alone Management Studio) and made it difficult for me to perform Delphi dev even in a Parallels VM on my M4 Max MBP. I ended up having to install SQL Server in a Docker container. That could be accessed using FireDac. But, there was no easy way to perform backups or to switch databases. So, I wrote a utility using Delphi 12.3 and UniDac to perform database backups and restore. I am a user of dbForge for Postgres. At some point, I expect to purchase a license for MS SQL. Until then, I use BeeKeeper.
