Highly customizable platform

Kommentare: After a short learning curve, we started to design our workflows. The web-based software from GenoFAB offers a versatile platform to organize samples, inventory, workflow, and teamwork. The platform has a helpful support page to learn and report any problems. The support team is extremely useful. The LIMS offered a highly customizable platform that created a tailored solution for our laboratory. The trackability of our samples through a series of steps and people working with them is crucial. We are implementing this process using GenoFAB. So far, the software seems very useful, and we are confident that it will help us increase our productivity.

Vorteile:

Fast, customizable, and web-based, we do not need to install it on any computer, so users can access it easily.

Nachteile:

The price for having customizable software is that the administrator needs to go through the learning curve. However, this is short, and easy thanks to the support page which provides clear examples of how to use the software.

Highly recommend GenoFAB

Kommentare: Implementing GenoFAB in the lab has been a fantastic decision. Previously, I was receiving order requests for lab inventory from at least three sources – email/messaging, excel sheets and a different LIMS that was not useful for the lab.
Now that GenoFAB is functional in the lab and lab members are being trained, it has been a valuable system that has made requests to order and receiving items seamless as everything is in one place. While I have currently been using GenoFAB solely for lab supplies and inventory, I am excited to continue leveraging the platform as we begin to track samples, solutions and media requests.

Vorteile:

It is easy to learn to use GenoFAB and the customer support is of high quality. All lab inventory is in one place, including all requests and order status. As other reviews have mentioned, there is no need to download software, so you can work with the system from anywhere.

Nachteile:

The initial setup and integration required a heavy upfront investment of time because the import from another system had a different configuration than the GenoFAB system. While the old configuration from the previous system could have been left in place, I decided to switch to the GenoFAB system. Now that things have been set up, I see the initial time investment was worth it as lab inventory is now much easier.

Best Thing I've done for my Lab

Vorteile:

After training and putting in time to set up locations, I think the best feature is the ability to barcode and have structured locations. Seeing the layout of a freezer box or our fridge racks makes it easy to find and store samples. Never again will anyone in my lab have to dig through the liquid nitrogen or -80 looking for samples. We have been able to organize cold storage in a way that I've never been able to before. It makes the inventory accessible to everyone.

Nachteile:

It would be nice to have different levels of user roles. I would like anyone to be able to create samples but don't want those same ppl, say undergrads to have the ability to edit locations etc. Separating out user roles will make this already great software better.

A very useful tool for sample management

Kommentare: My experience with GenoFAB is very positive so far. I appreciate how easy it is to both use and customize. Moreover, there is plenty of information to get started using it on their website and the support team was very attentive to our needs. I look forward to continuing to implement it in our lab.

Vorteile:

GenoFab is a highly customizable software that we were able to tailor to our needs. It is a very good tool to keep track of our samples and not lose any information in the process, many categories and subcategories can be created to store the information. This software is also cloud-based so no need to download anything to start using it!

Nachteile:

It took some time to understand how to link certain informations within the software but, fortunately, the support team was always very quick to answer all of our questions.
