ImproMed, the best clinic software

Kommentare: It's really the best clinic software I've used. I've had experience with Cornerstone, ImproMed, AviMark & VCA software. It's hands down my favorite of them all.

Vorteile:

The ease of use and customer service are great.

Nachteile:

The only thing I can really think of is that there are just SO many features that we have not yet taken advantage of because we haven't had the training on it all yet.

Needs some tweaking but gets the job done!

Kommentare: Overall Impromed is an extremely useful tool and helps me get my job done properly, I just think there are some things that could use a little tweaking.

Vorteile:

I love being able to easily access my patients' medical records and the ease of overall seeing what I need to be able to see in a chronologically appropriate manner

Nachteile:

I'd really love to be able to have the xrays automatically attached to the medical record rather than having to attach an image or a link. I'd also like to be able to title my bloodwork, rather than clicking on all the various bloodworks run looking for a thyroid for example. I'd like to be able to title the bloodwork what exactly it was I ran and get rid of the machine names used for the title of the bloodwork. There's also a new issue I've noticed- when I hover over an appointment, it tells me the age of the animal at the time of booking the appointment, but the actual medical record has the actual age of the animal. Several times now for puppies, when I hover over the appointment in easytime, it will say "12 weeks and 3 days", but in the medical record it says "16 weeks and 5 days". It doesn't match up and I can calculate from the D.O.B. their actual age if I needed to, but I fear new users can easily get confused.

Impromed is a tech geeks dream

Kommentare: Overall easy to use and great to setup for your clinic the way you would like. Doctors can set so many different things up in their notes when using this program as well.

Impromed is a great PIMs system. There is so many ways you can set this system up. It is a geeks dream for being able to set up the way you and your staff will use this system.

Nachteile:

The hardest thing the script labels you have to program and its not the easiest thing to do if you have never had to use programming keys.

So many difficulties with this software

Vorteile:

I do not like this software, but cannot find a good alternative.

Nachteile:

There are numerous modules that do not function as promised and despite bringing this up with tech support over and over, little effort in made to improve them. We were told that inventory just didn't work when you have multiple storage locations (like ambulatory trucks), so after investing significant time switching back to central supply and giving up on tracking inventory in trucks, found that it doesn't even work well in this situation. Cannot keep up in real time. Want lists are not accurate. Virtual white board not functional. Wellness plans module is also not functional (cannot appropriately track these from a financial standpoint) so we have also had to throw in the towel on this, and not for lack of investing a signficant amount of time to try and get it working. Tech support often knows less about the software than we do, so rarely able to get timely help.

Kommentare: My biggest complaint is customer service. I feel like most of my issues would be resolved if I were able to talk to someone that knew how to fix the problems. What I generally experience is having to "get the higher ups" involved at which point it takes weeks to hear back.

Vorteile:

There are several different ways to accomplish one task. Depending on the learning style of our team, we ca figure out the easiest way to teach someone a task.

Nachteile:

It is very clicky! There are several steps to accomplish one task. It would be much easier to make it more streamline.

Impromed, Loved it and miss it.

The updated or newer modules are great but some key features are missing.

Vorteile:

The reports are nice when you can figure out which report to run to get the information you need. The updates that are released are improving the functionality, and if you take the time to set the program up properly it can be useful. The IDEXX integration is nice, and automatically saves results in the patient file. I think they are trying to update everything, so it's just a waiting game to see what the next update will bring. The newer or updated modules are great.

Nachteile:

The setup time to get to work best for your business is very long. There are so many things that could be better with small tweaks, like autosave, schedule customization per user, making sure that all information prints to the record, making forms, labels, and templates easier to use (they are terrible to make - it's like going back in time and making something on windows 3.5).

Needs major updates

Kommentare: Cumbersome and clunky. We are definitely able to use the system, but it is not reliable. Daily I hold my breath in trying to figure out what is going to go wrong today. There are so many improvements this software needs to make it more user friendly.

Vorteile:

I like the appointment scheduler the most in this software, the different colors make it easier to look at in a glance. I like that it can communicate to Idexx equipment and other programs. I like the idea of intellient inventory if it worked appropriately

Nachteile:

It is not user friendly. The training videos are outdated, it is next to impossible to get someone on the help chat feature consistently as well as when you call. The updates are not very helpful. It does not feel like there is any user feedback when these are done. Most frustrating - Why do the treatment plans, not become part of the record so we can easily print the notes and time stamps to give to referral hospitals. This is a big miss It is extremely outdated, it runs slow, sometimes does not even come up when loaded even though we have a fast server. Reporting is very difficult. It is not really labeled in a way to be able to find the information you need. Too many glitches and not frequent enough updates Not cloud based. We have to practice up to date medicine we should have up to date software Setting up admin users and accessibility is really difficult. I still can't figure out if there is a master area of allowances or do we really have to change it for every individual person as to who has access to what.

Impromed - a total practice management solution

Kommentare: You can generate any form of business report you can think of to help manage the practice. I have been with them long enough to know how they work, how they treat their users, how they strive to help when problems arise. I think that maintenance fees may be a little on the high side but so it seems with everything these days.

Vorteile:

Our practice had been using what is now Impromed since 1985 and have grown with them every step of the way. I cannot compare it to other practice management systems because it is the only system I have ever used. It is very easy to use and has multiple modules that are all integrated and work well together. All our medical records are input at the time of exam, all labs are integrated into the database at the time they are run as well as our reference lab results. Reminders are simple and are either automatically updated when items are invoiced or as dates are input for non-automatic items, such as lab tests, xrays, etc.

Nachteile:

There are areas in the inventory module where we have various items/medications/vaccines, etc. assigned to a certain location within the clinic but when we are inputing new inventory the location prefers to default to the pharmacy. Some of the calculators do not function properly..

Good software suffers from poor support

Kommentare: This is a good software that could be great if the company actually listened to its customers and implemented suggested changes. When I recommend it to others I do so with an asterisk that customer service is lacking.

Vorteile:

Generally easy to use, often offers multiple ways of performing a function which is nice as people have different ways of learning and working. There are some functions that we kind of take for granted but that help us run more efficiently such as the Recents Lists and Quick Search.

Nachteile:

Software support is the worst! Since we're on the west coast chat support is often closed when we need them. When I call their first response is to want to login and do/fix what I'm asking about, which of course is quicker for them but does nothing to help me learn how to do it myself so I don't have to contact them next time the question arises. Support is very spotty: some techs are great, others do not have adquate knowledge of the product. There are multiple issues within the software that it seems would be relatively easy to fix but the feeling seems to be "it's always been like that" and so they're not fixed. Issues that impede efficiency (for example, having to get completely out of a report screen just to change the dates on the report, instead of offering a back button so all data doesn't have to be input again). In some cases it feels like something was done because it was easy from a coding perspective but in actual usage it is very inelegant. But when these are pointed out it is typically met with a shrug and the aforementioned "that's just the way it is" attitude. Change is excruciatingly slow. The last update ruined our ability to easily ascertain how many new clients we've gotten within any given time frame, which is a critical metric for our continued growth, and the problem has been acknowledged but as far as I know nothing has been done to correct it. Communication in this regard is also lacking.

Impromed has changed in the last 5 years

Kommentare: The customer service use to be top notch but about 5 years ago it started to go extremely down hill. The hold time of 30+ minutes is ridiculous. Often times I get a new IT person who admits to me they do not know what they are doing but have to go thru 45 minutes of steps in order to transfer me to someone else. We purchased a new server in November 2018 and it took 3 months to get it running including sending it back twice for harddrive issues. We were without all computers and lost business for 48 hours and impromed did nothing to compensate instead insisted we were the only hospital that ever had this issue. We pay over 1400 every quarter for IT support and recently had an issue were they told me some of our laptop equipment was not covered but it has never been started in a contract that these items are not covered. I also had an issue with billing and told they could not help me with a workstation issue I was having because we were past due on the bill. It took 30 minutes on the phone and for me to pull up our online banking to prove we paid the bill and Covectrus cleared the check 10 days prior. I have never been so offended and disappointed in a once good honest helpful company. Because of these issue we are seriously considering changing. IT is a huge issue and for a clinic we rely heavily on computers and also a company to help us when there are issues and not waste our time.

Vorteile:

Software is overall reliable and easy to use. We have a decent size database and as of recently have not noticed any Issues with speed of processing records. Being 100% paperless it is decent medical keeping but there are some integrations I think could be improved on.

Nachteile:

Integration of lab into soap/medical records. Lag time of processing credit cards and researching past products/invoice purchases. Lack of ability to integrate our X-ray software (eFilm) into impromed

Not listening

Kommentare: We are a busy 2 person mixed practice with a lot of inventory dispensing. We have been using Infinity for about 7 years. The support is really not what is used to be. They do not get back to us. And we are paying a high quarterly fee for that support. The label program and the search communications is too complicated for the average person to use. You have to call and get help for that, and they seldom "get" what you want. The program takes way too many steps to complete the simplest tasks. A good program allows a good computer literate person to "enter" or tab through screens. With this program, you always are reaching for the mouse, which doubles the time of date entry. Most of the drop down or view screens are not customizable. They are a small window, with lots of non-necessary columns and the only way to view them all, is to go to the mouse, slide the bottom bar, or narrow the columns like an excel format, until you see what you really want. I have made these suggestions since the program came out, and nothing has been done. There is little that is efficient with this program.

Vorteile:

Lots of reports. But, again, they need to understand what the owner of a practice needs to evaluate and put that in a report that helps, graph and compare categories, trends, product usage for the past 5 years, without exporting to excel. When I complain about that, they just are proud of the fact that you can export to excel. But my time is valuable. Make it work in infinity.

Nachteile:

See my experience, and also, Inventory. They need to get with MWI and get a seamless way to load inventory. I know Infinity is owned by Schein, but I am not, and they need to get over it, and help the customer that can only source what they need from MWI and allow downloading of orders into the system. We need predictive inventory. It takes too much time to view product, look at the usage by month (which is a very nice feature). We have over 2,000 products (inventory) and it would take forever to set the repurchase levels. Plus, in our large animal practice, products are seasonal. Let the program predict what I need to order based on past usage, so my staff can quickly select the quantity to reorder, and let the order go to MWI through Infinity.

Kommentare: In the beginning, I would have looked no further. I was using the software for at least 5 years and was satisfied. But since about 2 years ago we had a few issues, that originally a technician would help with (namely getting the software to communicate with the Dymo label printer, or the Idexx bloodwork), the personnel will not help.

Vorteile:

The ease in which it can be picked up and used. The fact that it was user friendly and ORIGINALLY technical support was available and utilizable

Nachteile:

It does not integrate well with other software (for instance if your Xray or bloodwork technology is from a different company. Also we had EXCELLENT support originally. We were happy to pay a monthly fee to be able to call and speak to technicians who were quite good at their job, and were respectful, courteous and kind to those of us who were learning/limited in computer skills. Now the process is difficult, and they will not help as they did in the past. For example, even the software for the prescription label maker that they deem to use with their software, they will not help to have work with this software.

Kommentare: We are close to 85% paperless in our Emergency department and this has made a huge difference in the details. The information is retrievable and very easily accessed saving time and money. Would not consider changing systems. Use is so easy and understandable that you can onboard new hires with ease.

Vorteile:

Impromed is one of the easiest software to use. We put it in place and began usage back in 1990(?) before paperless was even a thought. The software has been enhanced but has not changed in any major way since we started. It's ease of use has remained constant. Upgrades have been consistent with the needs of the time. We have very few things we want it to do that has not yet been achieved. Constant Quality Improvement continues throughout the 30 plus years we have used this software with excellent customer support. The Medical Records and Invoicing modules are better than most. The Intelligent Inventory has made keeping track of inventory much easier, invaluable.

Nachteile:

We started so long ago that any computer system would have been cumbersome. The ease with which we can train our ever- evolving staff saves both time and expense. We run across minor things over time that we would like to have included and give this information to Impromed who may or may not include in future updates. We do have difficulty emailing from Impromed at times but overall there is very little that we are displeased with.

Impromed Review

Kommentare: When I got Impromed it was CompCare (1980's) and the experience was good. Tech support is my biggest complaint now. Overall the program is okay.

Vorteile:

A lot of the program is not user friendly and intuitive. My biggest critique is the degradation of support since Covetrus took over. Hold times are improving but often not ideal. Usually the Tier One techs don't know much or at least enough to solve the problem. One has to wait for a call back from an analyst which may be a day or two wait. It's now more difficult to send support a message. It is no longer as simple as sending an email. Now you have to go the website and fill in a form. Putting in an online request for support is a joke. They MIGHT call you back in a day or two. Chat is usually worthless. Another problem since they took over is that they dropped the mobile app which I used daily.

Nachteile:

Tech. Support. Impossible to program label formats without support doing it for us. Long hold times which are getting better.

Kommentare: From preinstall preparation to use over the past 8+ years, we have been pretty happy with Impromed. You have some of the nicest tech support people and it's a pleasure to work with them. Since this was a new practice, we had no database conversion to deal with thankfully!

Vorteile:

Generally very intuitive to use. The financial reports generated are great to use. (now if I could get the team to balance at the end of day, I'd be doing good!)

Nachteile:

The Inventory Module needs serious revamping: The out of stock bin in the inventory module is a waste of time as it affects the total inventory value and you have to go digging to find the issue. The Inventory Category report needs to be accessible at any time after the close of the month. Currently if you miss printing it you're out of luck. Everything else seems to be date dependent...not Inventory. Also needs a count sheet for when performing a large scale inventory count without killing a ton of trees. Not everyone has a bar code reader ( or needs one) but there's not a count sheet that doesn't include it. Also there needs to be a way to "hide" products no longer in use or in the hospital so that you are only looking at active inventory in ALL THE REPORTS. I can go on, but you get the idea

Great software for our practice!

Kommentare: I am very pleased that we chose Impromed. From installation and initial training to ongoing technician help, it has been a great experience.

Vorteile:

This software is easy to use. When it was first installed there was a rather steep learning curve for us since no one in the office had used it - but it was worth it! There is so much included in the program to make day to day tasks easier and the program is always getting better with the upgrades. The Inventory Module is one of my favorite. It is also nice that there are different ways to through the system depending on the task. The help desk is fantastic! When I call in with a question or problem it is usually handled with the first phone call. I believe the best experience I had was when the computer had a hard shut down (due to my error!). It happened at night, but Impromed had us up and running using the back up by mid-morning the next day! The technicians are very helpful and polite. I am very pleased with ImproMed.

Nachteile:

A better inter-office chat system would be nice. Also, I find that the Communication/Search module is a bit cumbersome. Lastly, I seldom find what I am looking for when using the Help - Contents/Index/Search section.

Kommentare: Excellent. Since our upgrade (video lessons were sent) I have sometimes had 2 or 3 questions per day, the support staff is quick to get back to me if they are not immediately available, and always very pleasant. We have also had some integrations that have gone smoothly with their help.

Vorteile:

We have been using this product for over 10 years now. We have always been happy with the easy of maintenance, and use. We recently updated to the newer version of the program and are still getting used to the changes. There is a lot more security, as an owner I appreciate this. We do use the appointment scheduler and one of the upgrades now helps to prevent two people from scheduling appointments at the same time.

Nachteile:

I think the easytime appointment scheduler has been the most difficult to adapt to, it is difficult to look quickly for an available time slot, because it does not give you a view of entire day. We used to use current invoices tab to help locate clients coming to pick up meds. Unfortunately it is alphabetized by owners first name not their last, and if a spouse picks up it makes it more difficult to locate for billing out.

Kommentare: Overall I like the program, but it is not user friendly. I wish that they could simplify /streamline so that it was not so complicated.

Vorteile:

1. Can work on road with laptop and synchronize when back at office 2. travel sheets 3. lab integration 4. bundles 5. credit card integration

Nachteile:

1. Company never addresses problems that mobile practitioners have with their platform. eg they recently updated software so that images can't be uploaded onto laptop on road and don't open if out of office. So now I have to come back to the office to download images. Tab button doesn't work for weight. names with Apostrophe's put a capital S in the animal database(name). 2. Any forms or certificates with an image shows up as large black box if printed from laptop when out of office.3. Split billing module unusable4. coggins integration module unusable 4. Large animal diagnosis list totally incomplete 5.Too many steps to complete certain functions 6. was told images could be uploaded to improview on cell phone, but it is only the image of the horse in the data base. Not the images in the medical records 7. Images in medical records- only one will show up if printing records . so if there are 4 images, they have to be individually be reentered

Vorteile:

I can't see any pros about this software, users complain about it on the daily.

Nachteile:

This company is a sham! They continue to get bought by bigger and bigger companies, ImproMed Infinity is now just a sliver what they offer. The support is by far the worst I have seen, worse than Microsoft! If you run into an issue don't expect it to be fixed, if someone says they need to call you back don't expect a call back. When it comes to someone managing your account, that doesn't exist. Your only line to this company is through their horrible support department. WARNING this company will try and sell you hardware, IT support all the while ignoring anything that isn't part of their suite. They sell white box servers, well over the price of what you would pay for a real server from Dell. If you want to buy only the software don't expect them support to performance issues even if your hardware is better than what they would sell. They know nothing about the other essential technology that runs your business. Stay away if you can! They software itself looks like Microsoft Office 2007, the interface is old and extremely outdated.
