Kommentare: Overall we are very happy with Avimark. tech support leaves something to be desired. We spend $100 to have tech support available & are often treated like we are bothering the technicians when we call - often have to call 4-5 times to get a proper answer.

Vorteile:

Easy to use - very intuitive. Windows based.

Nachteile:

Some very obvious defects: When you change a date in 1 patient's file, every other code for the rest of the day goes under that previous date - should default to current date when you switch to another patient's file. When one doctor is working on a patient & we go to another terminal, we have to select the doctor again - should default to the doctor who had already entered items that day .

Good but can improve

Kommentare: Overall experience is Love Hate. I appreciate the updates (though not automatic enough) but many of the CSRs need to communicate better or know "business" better. Overall grade would be B-/C+ but certain feature can get actually attain a solid A.

Vorteile:

AVImark software has really thought about it all! So much is available amongst its many features. Integration with online pharmacies, credit card processing, credit providers (e.g., Care Credit et al) reminders, and some collection agencies (among just a few examples of many outside organization types) is excellent once correctly installed.

Nachteile:

The software can certainly be improved. Start with design--forms from the 90s were good in the 90s but not today. There's nowhere to add additional notes with regard to client information, for example and pop up alerts show fine in one instance but not in others; no rhyme or reason. Verification from one screen to another isn't always thought through and getting features that easily exist in Cornerstone, for example, just aren't available in AVImark (or not without extras or add-ins). Reports might be built well for IT administrators but should be better for financial analyses. Searches are simply too complex for the technology that exists today, filtering should be possible within the system but it is sorely lacking (not many or none). Support, for the money is still too spastic where one great CSR at one time is missing the next time. Technology support (of the system vs of the many features) is great but it's not always immediately available and you have to have a "ticket" created. Good luck with that, because you're not always available when they're ready to return the call.

The site features and security features are lacking in some areas, especially email and radiographs integration. I feel like when a client is added in boarding it should automatically be added to the client database.

Avimark User 30+ Years

Kommentare: Overall I feel that Avimark is a great program. It's ease of use is good. Beginners can pick up the basics easily. There are a lot of things that the system can do that many are not aware of. The ease of integration from one program to Avimark was pretty seamless.

Vorteile:

Easily teachable. Easy integration. User friendly.

Nachteile:

Not as easy to get "New" features added when suggested. I would like to see the online academy become part of the program as "basic" meaning I think that you would have way more practices wanting to have the system if this was available as a no charge portion of the system. Practices are constantly adding more staff, and the cost associated with the academy are not very cost effective for a practice to have year round. If this price was embedded in the purchase price and maybe just a minimal annual fee would be much easier for practices to want to continue this service.

Kommentare: Overall, I like Avimark much more than some of the other programs I've worked with. It also integrates with IDEXX and with Antech.

Vorteile:

This program is very easy to convert to. My entire staff was able to function within a week of installing.

Nachteile:

The inventory program is little limited compared to some other programs. Quantity discounts could use improvement.

Very customizable and user friendly - once you get past the learning curve!

Kommentare: Overall it’s excellent. There are sometimes bugs with it (like suddenly not finding any pet named Bella, so you have to rebuild indexes) but for the most part, it works great. It is usually speedy, and it can do some really neat, helpful things.

Vorteile:

All the information you need is in front of you - client, pet, reminders. And it is easy to make it do some really cool things, such as packages, creative reminders, documents attached to treatments or diagnoses, etc.

Nachteile:

We switched to this software from Cornerstone, and that was one of the most difficult times in memory. I am very good with software, and it took me three weeks to feel comfortable with it. Some less proficient folks complained for more than a year! Six years later, and I still occasionally find things it will do that I didn’t know about.

Kommentare: Overall AVImark is a good program to run. There will never be a program that fits all the needs of every vet hospital out there but they give it a good try.

Vorteile:

We have had AVImark for 15 + years. It is very user friendly for everyday uses. It is easy to move between different screens. We did not have any trouble moving our data from the previous program that we had.

Nachteile:

We have a boarding area and the boarding scheduler could be improved. You cannot make boarding chart documents using the data in Avimark it all has to be written out by hand. Trying to make searches for data is complicated so I usually have to call into customer support for those. Most of the time they are very helpful in getting these set up, other times it take a while even for them to get the right search parameters set.

AVImark needs an overhaul

Kommentare: Overall I've been underwhelmed with AVImark from the sale to implementation to support. If we didn't spend so much money on the hardware and software in the beginning of ownership we would have switched systems by now. I'm riding out the time until our server is near death before switching. Speaking of servers, we were sold an outdated server by [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]. And when our IT people noticed this issue I contacted Covetrus (formerly HS) and they said the sales rep had left, it was a different company then, and there was nothing they could do about it. Poor, poor service.

Vorteile:

Inventory management is great if the time is taken to set up properly. The appointment calendar is useful. Worklists keep the staff together. There are a lot of useful aspects of the software but there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get there.

Nachteile:

There are too many windows and options to click through before a change is effected. The fear of running updates because you will lose information or capabilities is real.

Does not play well with others

Kommentare: a necessary evil until we can find a better solution. There are worse products out there.

Vorteile:

Phone support is good most of the time, most agents are able to quickly walk you through something even when it should be easy, but isn't.

Nachteile:

Avimark does not play well with most other platforms. Integration between Zoetis Labs is a nightmare, and pretty much any product that is not manufactured by Covetrus.

Kommentare: Overall experience with AVIMark is good. The company has always been helpful. There are some customer services representatives that are definitely more experienced, but even the less experienced have done their best to get me to the person that can help me the most. THANK YOU!

Vorteile:

The software is relatively user friendly. The "Help" AVIMark Manual and Online Support are extremely helpful. However, no time to search, pickup the phone, AVIMark Customer Support is always friendly and willing to help with the simplest request.

Nachteile:

There are multiple ways to do same thing and I personally sometimes get confused. I am not actually saying that is a bad thing, just can be confusing.

User friendly but thorough

Kommentare: We were able to become paperless and do away with paper charts.

Vorteile:

It is very easy to use. It is windows based therefore it is easy to train new people to use. There are multiple ways to search for client/patient info. Reports are easy to run. White board makes keeping track of patients and patient plans easy. Entering line items is easy and you can enter inventory in thto the line item. When scheduling, you can change colors to help keep track of appointment types. You can create canned notes in the glossary to make note keeping easy. It is easy to create canned estimates and post them into the chart. Employees have to sign in therefore you have a trail to keep track of who has done what. You can create word documents and have the client/patient information autofilled which makes discharge instructions easy.

Nachteile:

The customer service is not as available and user friendly as they could be. Fortunately we don't have to call very often. The only con in regards to software, is that you cannot time stamp the posting time to know when a client checked out.

User friendly but needs a bit more optimization/customization capabilities

Kommentare: Overall we have had a decent experience with AVImark. AVImark support has always been polite, though occasionally some have said certain things cannot be done that we are later told can be done from another team member. The staff are always polite though and we appreciate their assistance. The program, though it still has its faults, is user friendly and certainly has a lot of potential.

Vorteile:

It is user friendly in most aspects compared to other software programs I have used in veterinary practices.

Nachteile:

There are a few features that my staff and doctors over the years of using it have brought to my attention. One of the biggest issues is the medical condition and how it is viewed in the patient's chart. The fact that there isn't a way to easily view the doctors' notes from the most recent visits has led us to not yet convert to being paper lite. With paper records a doctor can quickly glance at the most recent notes from other doctors/themselves to familiarize themselves with a case. At this time in AVImark from what we can tell we have to manually find the line item where the medical condition is listed and then open that fully for each separate visit. If there was the option to have those notes be in read only view from the chronological page or a different page that would be extremely helpful. Additionally if there was a way to, from the software, submit a bug or error report. With the ability to include a screenshot or something similar this would be much more convenient than having to call in to the support desk each time. Lastly if there was a way to track changes made within AVImark to the calendar this would be incredibly helpful. Being able to look and see who moved an appointment, or where it was previously scheduled would be excellent for busy practices when there's a lot of people on the schedule at any given time.

Thorough program for all veterinary needs

Kommentare: Over the past 6 years of using this program our veterinary clinic has grown, and this software has expanded with us. Originally we only had a handful of computers, where as now we have almost 30 running the medical program. I love the ease of use, for our staff, which helped to improve efficiency. Our staff, can room a client, the doctor can see the patient medical records and put in charges in the room, and we can finalize and check out the client in the room. It has made the process easy to have the client in one space, with no confusion.

Vorteile:

AVImark has helped our veterinary clinic by being able to create reports for statistics, keep in contact with our clients, and have thorough records. We have our in-house labs all where they 'talk' to AVImark, which is helpful for our doctors when talking with clients. When looking for a particular answer to a question, such as how many exotic pets did we see this year, or what doctor sees the most patients in a particular zip code, we can create a report for those answers. Over the past 6 years of using this program, there has only been a handful of reports that I could not create, which is spectacular for a numbers person! We have data at the tip of our fingers at any given point.

Nachteile:

The integration and transfer of data from AVImark into Quickbooks can be a challenge at times. There are some payment forms that do not transfer out 'clean' into a Quickbooks file, that requires a little work on the back end, like care credit payments. In addition, we implemented AVImark originally for the improvement of our inventory, and set up an entire system with barcode. Although you can sell product like a typical point-of-sale system with the barcode scanner, on the Receiving-end you cannot receive inventory by utilizing a barcode, which still leaves room for errors.

A mediocre software that is past its prime

Kommentare: I have been with this program since it's DOS days and unlikely to change now as I am to close to retirement. I have not paid for support since 2011 as their support teams became more and more uneducated in the product and the updates kept killing the program and it would take months (sometimes never) for them to correct something they broke. The only reason I see for anyone to start new using this program is cost. It is a cheap program with no extra costs charged for extra work stations. That is the only thing that kept me from switching is the licensing structure of the other programs.

Vorteile:

Fairly easy to use and be up and running in short order. Inexpensive depending on your needs. Great support from users of the program in various forums and Newsgroups as well as on FB, which is good because you will not get good help from Customer Service.

Nachteile:

Probably the worst Customer Service on the planet. Outdated product that has not kept up with the demands of today's Veterinary Hospital. Inventory is a mess. Boarding is almost unusable. Was built for small Hospitals in the beginning and has not been able expand to fulfill the needs of today's larger practices. Searching Hx or current problems with a patient is a joke. Their promised integration on PACS is non-existent unless you pay almost so much for their version of a PACS called Dragon. Controlled drug log is a mess. You have the choice of TWO credit card merchants as they will not allow other merchants access to their program. Both of these merchants are among the worst when it comes to fees and honesty.

Avimark for Specialty Practice

Kommentare: The customer service is great. It functions but I would like to use the software more to fit specialty practice.

Vorteile:

Ease of estimates, looking at medical history and a lot of the reporting features.

Nachteile:

We are specialty dental practice, things that would be nice is having multiple referral choices would be nice especially when we are creating referral letters. Being able to email treatment plans directly out of Avimark to the email on file or adding additional emails if necessary. We work with a Cardiology practice they have Easyvet. There referral letter process in amazing. I would like a spot for better communication between staff on a patient so when they call you don't have to go diving into the record to find the recommended recheck. lots and lots of things. I have use Avimark when I worked in GP. I came to this hospital that the original doctor purchased Avimark in1993. I would love to switch to a different software, but I have only heard horror stories and that is the main reason I have not switched at this time. We had to purchase a different dental charting software which is hard to integrate with Avimark.

Decent software marred by numerous technical issues and very poor customer support.

Kommentare: This was great software until they were bought out by Schein. Schein clearly wants people to buy Impromed for a lot more money, and admits that they pulled most of the programming staff away from Avimark. They basically never respond to requests any more.

Vorteile:

Very easy to use. Can train new people in an hour to do basic work on it, unlike many other software titles. Good integration with in house blood machines and Antech/IDEXX online.

Nachteile:

NUMEROUS, DANGEROUS technical issues. 1). Refill system broken. There is NO WARNING when refilling prescriptions with no refills left aside from "-1" on the label. 2). "done" is right next to "cancel" in medical notes. There is NO WARNING if you hit "cancel"! All the notes are lost. 3). Resolution problems. Frequently defaults to 800x600 and you have to hit the "expand" button repeatedly or even exit out of the program and restart for it to display properly. This has been an issue since 2003. 4). The whiteboard of who is in the hospital and where doesn't automatically update when opened.

It should be easier to use, and support should not act as though we are bothering them with question

Kommentare: When I have to call (*Because they have no disable the convenient chat option), I often receive a tech support agent who is peeved that I am calling for assistance. We pay over $100/per month for the support, so I plan to use it without feeling as though I am bothering someone. For instance, we purchased new computers. That should be simple, but it is not. To just get Avimark up and running takes hours on new computers. I want to change the server computer to one of the new machines and [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] has called three times, and we have yet to get this accomplished. I think it was [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] who "helped" us with reminders that we were once again not printing out properly, well, he was not at all happy to help. It was as though we were burdening him to simply do his job.

Vorteile:

I like that it has potential, but that is all I can say. As of right now, I am not pleased with the support, nor abilities of the program.

Nachteile:

We have used Avimark since the 1980's. The program went from one that only required the purchase, to one that requires a server, technical support help, reminder help, and so much more, all too often. The program should be more user friendly. It should be easier to make changes. The different areas should speak to each other. I should not have to call into Tech Support for assistance and they sigh, like [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] I believe his name was, over assisting with an issue.

Great program overall, takes a while to KNOW it though

Overall the systems set up intitally that we use every day are easy to use. Theres quite a bit about the program thats rather intuitive and easy to follow.

Nachteile:

I know there are SO many features to this program that we are seriously underutilizing. The How-to guides are not easy to follow and I often have to contact customer support to get information on how to look up how to do something. I wish it were easier for me to search for my own solutions. Customer service can often be helpful but I do find from person to person varies at their ability to help me versus just tell me something isn't possible (when the next person can explain that it is or it is its just not going to be easy or practical).

Kommentare: If there is something that can be done- the client services people I have called have always been very helpful and polite, the biggest frustration is that if it isn't something that the software isn't able to do at this time, it seems that and the impression given is there is no interest or hope that changes will ever be made In the software......

Multiple times I have called and asked for specific functionalities and have been told no with no chance of it ever happening. I find this disappointing. Examples are: being able to customize/change vitals section, send more than one attachment through email function (I feel like this may have been addresses but it isn't on our system), doctor's notes being part of the medical record, alerts being a separate tab not just the pop ups, customization to Rx label format to include more info, Ability to see if there are refills on an rx easily in the single line entry in the cid instead of having to go through the label option, being able to add species or sex to the patient search info, bcs History displayed like weight is, there are likely other things but I can't think of them right now......

Kommentare: Overall, Avimark is fine. I do wish the customer support team were more consistently trained.
A lot of the time I need to call several times before I get the answer I need.
One time someone messed up our computer so bad that she couldn't fix it and only said she was sorry to make such a mess. We fixed it on our own and then found out the answer to the original question was one click on the speed bar. *face palm.

Vorteile:

Ease of use in general, very user friendly (except for reports)

Nachteile:

Our OLD DOS veterinary software counted down the inventory quantity and then chose the next expiration date to use for prescription labels automatically. I miss that. Report are impossible. They need to be simplified.

Kommentare: Avimark works well for what we use it for, but there isn't much flexibility or adaption with it.

Vorteile:

For an ER that uses Avimark mostly for charges and basic patient info, it works very well for us. I do feel like learning to do anything different or more advanced is very hard but the customer support is excellent. I also like how simple the billing/invoicing is.

Nachteile:

Inventory management. It is very complex and not user friendly. I have been learning for the last 6 months to better understand it and I feel like I am barely scratching the surface. It also does not link with other programs, like smart flow, well.

Kommentare: Overall, everyone here likes Avimark and when we hire new employees, they are frequently already familiar with this program since it is commonly used in other veterinary hospitals.

I came into the veterinary field just a few years ago which is when I was first introduced to Avimark. The hospital that hired me had always used this program. I found it easy to learn and easy to navigate. We are paperless and everything we need is in the patient's file...staff notes are critical. We scan in or download documents and are able to attach them with ease. The different file tabs and the search box make it easy to find what you need immediately.

Nachteile:

Our version of Avimark is only happy merging Word documents (.docx). You cannot use any other program to create documents. Also, when we want to add a type of reminder (for a test or new vaccine), the Avimark tech support have to do it and it requires them to "re-build" the reminders. This brings in all the old reminder types that we no longer use and attaches them to every single patient in the system, which we then have to remove, individually. Very annoying!

Kommentare: Overall I like Avimark as it is easy to train employee's on. The first few months I spent A LOT of time on the phone with their customer service or tech support (who were fantastic!) but now I feel I know the ins-and-outs pretty well.

Vorteile:

I think that Avimark is very user friendly, and easy to set up new inventory or treatment codes.

Nachteile:

Sometimes the updates can cause issues, and the program can be slow when "talking to" the Avimark at our other clinic. The medical history doesn't correlate with the account history if something has been posted.

The best out there, but it needs improvement.

Kommentare: We like using this software and recognize it is the best in the industry, however as the times change and the digital age is more prevalent, updates to the software for ease of use and utilization need to be made. We have looked to switching software, but others are worse. We would like to feel that this is the best option, not the best of the worst options.

Vorteile:

Scheduling is intuitive. Reports for inventory as well as billing and invoicing make overall function of the hospital smooth. Support is FABULOUS and they are quick to respond and attempt to solve every problem quickly.

Nachteile:

Search function is limited and often times, comes back with "No client/patient found" even if they do exist. Reminders are difficult to manage, get messed up frequently, and are impossible to stay on top of. Emails through Avimark to clients will not let you leave the screen and don't always post to the history. Emailing treatment plans is difficult. Recurring payment plans FREQUENTLY have errors or cannot be fixed if set up improperly. Need to be able to search ANY phone number on an account, not just primary. Reprinting receipts generate errors.
