Not Too Old to Learn

It appears to be very easy to use. As soon as we received our login information we started work inputting our books into the system.

Kommentare: We chose Surpass to automate our community library and are working with a volunteer committee. The support staff has been a consistent valuable help in getting us set up.

Vorteile:

we like the ability to customize the various modules for our community.

Nachteile:

the depth of the software requires time to learn the many features. This is also an asset but takes time for a volunteer organization to master the software.

Vorteile:

I like the bright colors on the catalog. I also like that you can catalog books by just typing in the title and author.

Nachteile:

The follow-up by the Help Desk is pretty much non-existent. The chat feature does not work so if you put in a ticket, you have to log in again to see if your question has been answered. I was hoping it would send me an email. It is also very slow when checking in books.

AFGS chooses Surpass

Kommentare: Surpass worked with us for over 4 months while we organized our library holdings we have accumulated over 40 years. They answered numerous questions and when we were ready they uploaded over 17000 items into our new catalog. After the initial upload they helped make changes to our setup so we and especially our patrons would gain mazximum benefit. Their help was always timely and with the utmost professionalism.

Vorteile:

The ability to organize our holdings into different categories of our own choosing. As a research organization is is important that our patrons can narrow their search for a specific book or record and surpass does a wonderful job in meeting this goal.

Nachteile:

I initially wanted to be able to search and see several items on the screen at one time. The Large, Medium and Small icon capability for the patrons choosing was not what we wanted but Surpass found a way to set the "samll" icon as a default. We also want to see the items summary along with the title and author when scrolling through a list of books or microfilms. We are not sure this can be accomplished at this time.

Viewing the summary with the title and author can be done at this time if the list is in standard list size (as opposed to compact). First time experience with Surpass

Kommentare: This is my first experience with the Surpass library management system. I have used quite a few other systems in my long career as a librarian. So far I have been really impressed with the customer service whenever I have a question and the system is really intuitive and easy to use!

Vorteile:

The customer service has been astounding. Everyone has been super responsive and quick to answer all my questions!

So far my experience has been excellent with Surpass, nothing bad to report.

Great for a small school library

Kommentare: My overall experience has been positive. Our small school library has been using Surpass for several years, since we first automated. We were unfamiliar with library automation and were given a lot of support when we transitioned.

Vorteile:

I appreciate the customer service and tech support. Whenever I run into trouble or am unfamiliar with a feature, I know that I can get a fast response from the company either by phone or via email with a real person. They are professional and always follow up to make sure the issue is resolved. I am also pleased with the transition to Surpass Cloud.

Nachteile:

I am hoping to see more flexibility and features with the homepage of the OPAC in future developments, including improved search options.

Surpass for Retirement Centers

Kommentare: Surpass was implemented with employees at a Retirement Village but the library volunteer residents have learned the parts of it they need to on a day to day basis quite easily. Since it's based on the Cloud it can be accessed anywhere at any time.

Vorteile:

Surpass has many layers to it but can also be used very simply. The online and live chat help is critical for any database and the support is superb for Surpass.

Nachteile:

Missing all the great features that are sometimes buried until you have a question and then Support helps you find the answers

Surpass saved my life

Kommentare: We have been used Surpass for over 20 years. Surpass always give us a strong customer service. While we lost our server, Surpass stored all of our library data. Surpass saved my life! Now we chose to use Surpass Cloud, no doubt at all.

Vorteile:

Customer service is the best! They are very nice, and be patient.

Nachteile:

There is nothing that make me don't like the Surpass.

Excellent product and service

Kommentare: I'm very pleased with the whole experience - the product is very flexible and accommodating for various size collections and the customer service is quick and effective for the issues I've raised.

Vorteile:

This product is perfect for our small collection of church library materials. It provides for various types of sources, provides for the importing of data from other libraries to make cataloging easy, it has great labeling options for barcodes and spine labels, and provides lots of reporting options. Surpass customer service is very responsive and helpful.

Nachteile:

So far, I have no complaints about the product.

Surpass Easy to Use

Surpass software is easy to use to do the tasks required for cataloging, circulation, fee collection, getting reports, etc.

Nachteile:

At times our simple search results have been strange, but with the recent fix of some broken links, it is working much better.

School Library Surpass Use

Kommentare: I LOVE having Library Sidekick for use with the students that I am teaching how to use the catalog. They can do so much with a little explanation. I like Library Trek as well, but do not have as much application for this app since the students do not get to use their iphones and ipods in class time.

Vorteile:

The software is updated frequently, and instructions are sent to people using it to keep them "in the know."

Nachteile:

No CONS that register with me. There is nothing I can register here.

Their Tech Help is THE best!

Kommentare: We use this for our kids library inventory/check out and it's a pretty basic need met by the software.

Vorteile:

We are a church who uses this for our Children's Ministry library. Since Covid, are activity has been changed, and we are preparing to roll out library cards and advertise to the church families. I was experiencing technical difficulties and called, and [SENSITIVE CONTENT] was terrific to work with, explaining as necessary in a way that was perfect for my non-technical mind. Just terrific customer service, and awareness of keeping it the right level with someone not adept at speaking in technical terms. It was an easy fix for him, but left me feeling confident it was fixed and I will easily call again if other things arise.

Nachteile:

Honestly - we haven't used it very often so, so I'm not aware of any reason I would rank "least" desirable. It works, it's easy, and if there's an issue there are knowledgeable people to help.

Surpass is Excellent for Small Church Libraries as well as other types of businesses

Kommentare: I recently upgraded our small church library software (it hadn't been upgraded since 2008). Every person I talked to was patient, knowledgeable and efficient. The tech guy (Ron) had been with the company since before 2008, so the process seemed easy from his end. He stayed with me on the phone as he upgraded and answered all my questions, as if I was the only customer for the day. I just ordered a scanner from Surpass to make my job easier (I had done the first wave of cataloging without one). The yearly price for tech support was probably used by that ticket alone. The product prices are/were relatively easy to handle, too. This is a great company and I am glad I went with them. I am a retired school librarian, so am familiar with cataloging software. This does everything I need it to do. I wish the scanner was wireless, but then I probably would not be able to afford it. So am just happy to have one I could afford that is 100% compatible with the software out of the box. They set the bar with Customer Service!

Vorteile:

I cannot say enough good things about this product. Ease of use - I taught my granddaughter to check books in and out when she was in kindergarten. I routinely have high school aides who use the system with ease after only one short lesson. Customer service - wonderful wonderful. In over 15 years of use, they have never let me down. They speak English (not computer) and can easily explain how to solve your particular problem. They always get back in touch with you - usually in a matter of minutes but never more than a few hours. Every feature we have asked for has been added and the price so far has basically remained the same. Absolutely wonderful product - would recommend this product to ANYONE.

Nachteile:

If the rest of my life worked this well, I'd be one happy camper.

I have learned this program over a period of years. I could never have managed without Support.

sometimes it's hard to figure out how to do what I want to do. That's where Surpass Support is so necessary.

great software

Kommentare: I love, love, love, this software a lot. I'm so glad the school decided to update my software with Surpass. The ease of processing the books and maintaining the student records is so much faster with only I screen to look at, but I do see a small room for improvements went it comes to checking in and out. I would had gave surpass a 5 star review but for a few issues i'm have getting use to how their circulation screen works. I don't like that when I check students card for lates before they come day to library,that I need to get the mouse and go back to the parton and click on it again. My old software as soon as you hit enter it was ready for the next student. I find this is taking me longer to get done before the next grade comes in.
Over all I would tell anyone to get Surpass well worth it.
