Brilliant! Accounting Software especially for Builders - just what was needed

Vorteile:

This is just a snapshot of the list of features and each one of these were a definite pro for us - to have all of them in the one package really ramped up our ability to save time and make money. No one likes doing "paperwork" but to be able to use ComputerEase and have it all in the cloud and easily accessable was a dream come true for the company I advised to use this. They are very happy with it, and so am I. Experience with ComputerEase

Kommentare: Used to be the CFO of a large painting contractor. We used the software fairly extensively. Tried to use the Apps but the PMs didn't care for them and eventually killed them. As a result, we used other Apps for time, change orders, estimating, etc.

Vorteile:

The accounting and job cost is excellent

Nachteile:

Its platform is a little dated, the Apps are also dated. I think CE will lose market share if it doesn't upgrade its platform at some point. Although, that being said, most folks love it, especially accountants.

Poor at Best

There are no pluses for this software, many other better choices on the market

Nachteile:

Not user friendly, does not work with any other programs, will not live 2 way integrate with other software packages

ComputerEase is a great construction software to build on.

Kommentare: ComputerEase is a robust system with a lot of flexibility, great tools and reports, and a reliable platform to run a construction company on.

Vorteile:

The respective Centers allow a central place to go and get great information and allow easy navigation to reports and other job/maintenance functions. ComputerEase allows a lot of flexibility so it can be set up to best meet your needs. They have many modules, including standard GL, A/P, A/R, Payroll and Job Costing, but also CRM, Service Management, Document Management, Subcontract, FieldEase, etc. These options allow you to pick and choose what modules best work for you and your needs thus saving money by not having to pay for something you won't use. Training and resources through our reseller, Microvisions, has been fantastic. They are very knowledgeable about ComputerEase and have excellent representatives and quick response times. Microvisions also has Webinars to introduce additional features/modules available with ComputerEase which help identify best practices and applications to get the most from the software. QTools is a feature that allows you to easily export reports to Excel where they can be filtered, sorted, etc. to get the information faster and summarized versus searching through the reports direct from ComputerEase.

Nachteile:

There is so much there to learn and what ComputerEase can do, it can be overwhelming. This is overcome with experience and training, but it can be daunting at first.

Managing Projects with ComputerEase

Kommentare: So far, this software has been hit or miss. What is does, it does well. I have had some technical issues with the software producing accurate information and the support took several days. I really like the subcontractor management and purchasing functions.

Vorteile:

It does have a lot of project management/project tracking features. It's pretty robust and although not the easiest software to learn, it's not terribly difficult either.

Nachteile:

It is missing some important features as far as having one software that does everything project management. Beside that, it is not the easiest software to learn. I feel like some of the features are not located where they should logically be.

Meets all our needs

Kommentare: We have been using ComputerEase since December of 2014. I am the Accounting Manager. I was on the selection committee that chose ComputerEase. We have two companies, construction and service. We wanted one software platform that could handle the needs of both companies and have capabilities for growth. I oversaw the installation and implementation of the software and I am the software administrator. ComputerEase handles our project management, service management, and all our accounting needs.

Vorteile:

The reporting function is phenomenal - between the canned reports, user reports, QTool and ODBC capabilities, most all reporting needs are met. If not, for a nominal fee, ComputerEase will create a custom report that is seamlessly added to the software. Though we don’t frequently need them, customer support is always very responsive, and all issues are quickly resolved. If the software does not have a function or feature that we need, we can make a request for it to be added to a future update. If it is something that can not be added to an update, ComputerEase will offer suggestions for work arounds, alternative methods or examples of how their other clients accomplish similar tasks.

Nachteile:

ComputerEase provides updates to the software frequently, usually once a month. We self-host ComputerEase. The issue is that all users must be logged out of the software to install the update. Unfortunately, all our users do not log out. This causes delays and limits the times that I can do the updates. However, this is not a ComputerEase issue and is internal to our company. If we go to a ComputerEase cloud hosted environment this would not be an issue as updates are automatic.

Does it all

Vorteile:

ComputerEase provides all the reports that the owner needs and much more for running his business. Also, I am able to provide our accountant with any reports he requests. ComputerEase made it possible for our accountant to interact with our program by providing software and tech support to our accounting firm. Tech support is amazing! They have always been able to solve my problems and answer my questions without hesitation. They really know their product. Also, they all appear to have more than just basic bookkeeping knowledge which really helps when I don't understand something.

Nachteile:

1-There is no way to search for a number, dollar amount, etc. Sometimes, you just don't have any more info than a dollar amount or number (invoice, check #, etc). 2-I don't care for the way credit card purchases are handled. You enter each transaction as an invoice and pay it with the credit card "account". I think our old software had a better way of entering, paying and tracking credit card transactions and statements.

Computer not so ease..

Kommentare: Program is not well known, but if you use all the available features it is acceptable.

Vorteile:

Program is very detailed, but once you learn it, it is very user friendly. There are a lot of benefits we do not utilize.

Nachteile:

Work in progress! - you can not hit one button and get a report. You have to force feed information into it before you can get a report. You also can not send a report directly from the program.

We use FieldEase which is software within ComputerEase.

Vorteile:

FieldEase is an easy to to keep track of hours as a contractor. It makes submitting time cards on time a breeze. I like that I am able to split my daily hours up between jobs.

Nachteile:

My only con is that i wish there was an easier way to set up a reminder notification within FieldEase. I also wish the mobile app was more user friendly. Its not bad- just a bit clunky.

Vorteile:

I have found ComputerEase really easy to use.

Nachteile:

Nothing too complain about. Some personal things I would change but nothing is perfect.

Not a Relational Database

Vorteile:

ComputerEase seems to be one of the less expensive software options out there while still offering many optional features. There are multiple pre-built reports to see profitability, etc. We have not had any system "crashes".

Nachteile:

ComputerEase is not a relational database - which if you are used to a relation database, the process of looking up or entering information will require more steps. The service module is a bit weak despite an upgrade in Spring 2017 (dispatch board lacking features, unable to easily view a work ticket once it has been completed, not easy to link to AP, time keeping app unable to view submitted entries without additionally logging into the online portal). The customer technical support is handled by a third party company that is divided into regions. The regional team supporting us seems short staffed at times.

Great Construction Software - Lacking HR component however

Kommentare: This software would be complete if it contained the HRIS component.

Vorteile:

Job set up, tracking, tax reports, AP & AR systems ease of use, GL accounting system, contract/subcontract/p.o. templates and ease of payroll.

Nachteile:

Lacking the HRIS component - Had to purchase a separate HRIS (Human Resource Information System) through BambooHR that our employees could log into to track their time off, for benefit enrollment and tracking and for supervisors/foreman to perform performance evaluations and post job openings.

CRM Review

Kommentare: It is a great privilege in this time and age to have software's like ComputerEase cloud, to make data management easy and save for future references

Vorteile:

The document management and inventory management

Nachteile:

Nothing least liked about the software. I will just love to know more about how to make use of the subcontractor.

Decent product

Vorteile:

This product allows you to house and report on a lot of important information pertaining to payroll and human resources.

Nachteile:

It can be difficult to find the information you are looking for. Would be nice to have a tutorial or manual housed in the product.

ComputerEase for Contractors

Kommentare: Great overall for any size contracting job.

Vorteile:

Software interface was very user friendly and easy to set up multiple databases for individual companies in a group. Report functionality was very detailed for job costing.

Nachteile:

Drill down capability from the general ledger was limited.

Do not use this software if you can avoid it!

Kommentare: It's format is still DOS - like in the late 80's before we all switched to the windows format. All this software did was remove the use of the F1-10 keys and replace it with a double click. It shuts our printer down and locks it into an internal loop at which point we have to turn off the computer and the printer, wait - repower everything and try again. Ever so often it decides to print the payroll checks backwards and other inconvient things like that. I suppose it is better than no software and is also cheaper than the better written programs for this industry. I guess you get what you pay for.

User friendly

Vorteile:

The customer support is amazing, they will walk you through any issue you have.

Nachteile:

Some parts seem a little outdated (the overall design) but updates are taking care of that.

Great Construction Accounting Software

Vorteile:

Is a great system to track all of your cost for each project

Nachteile:

System is great on the accounting side, however not good for the project management side

ComputerEase

Vorteile:

Payroll and HR housed in same area, as well as accounting

Nachteile:

Difficult to navigate, reporting capabilites are lacking

User of ComputerEase since 2010

Vorteile:

I like the accounting module for the most part. I mostly like the invoice approval process for its ease in processing payables approval and the ability to review contract or POs from the approval screen. The ability to customize access for each user is a plus. ComputerEase can do a lot more with better training and better user manual

Nachteile:

Customer Service is good User manual needs improvement Need to have a better check register Even with Qtools, it is very difficult to get custom reports across various modules Project Management Module - Document Control and Scheduling needs improvement. Scheduling module is very slow and doesn't work well with scheduling software

This program is very easy to navigate but lacks complex reporting

Vorteile:

Easy to learn and navigate through. Works for simple accounting and job costing. New menu makes getting around easier.

Nachteile:

Not enough ways to manipulate reports. Need more customized state and federal reporting for EEO. Qtools should be more helpful

It was not very user friendly.

Vorteile:

The ability to upload documents into the system was a great help. Doing payroll in house was not hard to set up. I think that this would be better for larger companies with more jobs rather then smaller companies with a few larger jobs.

Nachteile:

To do pay applications was hard. It had so many things that just didn't apply to our business and it was hard

We use it primarily because we job cost 95% of our employees.

Vorteile:

Easy for job costing our employees. Great customer service. Really easy for certified payroll because we can pay more than one pay rate per check.

Nachteile:

I don't like having to save the payroll Register and check stubs on my desktop each payroll. I would rather have the ability to pull them up on the CE system at all times.

Fairly easy to learn the basic accounting processes.

Kommentare: Your staff has been very helpful in working with us to resolve various user issues.

Vorteile:

Ability to track job costs in a fully integrated environment, a strong audit trail and ease of getting help to solve user issues.

Nachteile:

As Canadian customers we are being asked to pay for converting the US payroll module into something that works in Canada!
