A lot of power under the hood!

Kommentare: Being able to customize has been huge and they are few softwares that are HIPPA compliant both static and motion of less then 50 out there. They take security to the max. Investing in the set-up and organization is key to really make this software work optimally.
Unlike others that have less flexibility your are stuck with their design of templates etc.
You need to put your thinking cap on. Having worked in a lot of offices most never use that ability a software has. Take the time to invest in it. When you do it is worth it daily.

Vorteile:

Very customizable, easy to use, great support, most suggestions are implimented. Rarely have issues. Once my harddrive was acting up, they could tell on support and called me, they checked it out and told me it was my computer, switched it for another so I could work and took it in over lunch to my tech place to have it replaced. Customizability of EHR is great or notes and I merge custom templates made in Textexpander as needed. Can monitor how many visits a client is seen which really is great ability, I know chiropractors like that ability.

Nachteile:

During the HIPPA compliance a lot was put on hold, but now they are putting a lot into being progressive.

Best Mac based software for Dental practice

Kommentare: Been using this software since 2004. The company has been responsive to suggestions and adjustments.

Vorteile:

Intuitive interface, scheduling, and detailed reports. Unix based.

Nachteile:

E-prescribing could be much stronger. EPCS has been weak. We have been using DrFirst, the industry leader to supplement this weakness. Confusing account statements from the patient perspective; however, the software engineers are improving it.

MacPractice for chartless office

Vorteile:

The storing of patient's digital information, reports, referrals, photographs/x-rays, periocharts is well done.

Nachteile:

The software is setup to work in multiple healthcare fields so it can be difficult for the staff and the doctor to learn the system as much of the data fields are improperly labeled for dentistry; plus there is much that has nothing to do with dentistry entirely and can be misleading. The ledger can also be confusing as it does not provide a running balance by date if there is more than one patient on the account. The biggest problem is that MacPractice does not seem interested in making changes to the data field names to help the solve the problem. Also their business practices are somewhat questionable. They sold me on a fixed fee for a collection of their software products if I committed to purchasing the software while at their booth at the dental convention. Several years went by and they honored the arrangement. Recently they sold their company to a foreign interest and this year all previous deals were cancelled and they more than doubled their yearly fee. I scheduled an interview with the person that handles the fee arrangements. We agreed to reduce the number of software products in our package and he would get back to me with the new fee arrangement. It has been one and a half months since that meeting. And no response. I have called twice and still no returned calls. Their office staff says there is no management structure that allows for me to contact someone else to help me.

Solid Mac-based software

Kommentare: Good comprehensive dental practice management -- easy checkout and insurance filing

Vorteile:

Presentation, easy to read, one stop for billing, insurance and scheduling. very responsive support

Nachteile:

Currently there are glitches in the patient incident forms, family account balance is printing vs. individual patient balance. It is often difficult for MacPractice to keep up with changes in Apple OS

Kommentare: Pulling up reports with this software was complete fluid and easy.

Vorteile:

ease of use and facilitation within Apple environment

Nachteile:

can only be run on Macs, expensive, cannot be used with Windows, difficulty with Itrans and insurance transmissions

Kommentare: To get you to order their software, they make it seem like every aspect is customizable- it is not! This software has other versions for chiropractors, doctors, etc, and all are on the same platform just very slightly tailored to one or the other. There are tons of things that dental offices do not need which take up memory & computing space of our server & computers. They refuse to remove them! There are screens that do not make sense &/or are a huge waste of space. When viewing previous period charting: the screen loads weird & you can not click to compare progress. It crashes often & requires you to upgrade memory or purchase all new computers & server about every 2 years. So many glitches that tech support refuses to fix.

Vorteile:

The scheduling feature, when it works properly, looks nice. The Attachments and Notes areas work well for what we need as do the e-claims.

Nachteile:

Reports: they are not comprehensive and track very few statistics that are useful to the dental office, like marketing. In the software, there is a place to enter a Referral (where/how the patient found our office). However, once you enter it, you cannot generate a report for Marketing. The only reports are for the other two types of referrals ("Transition From" or "Transition To"). The developers do not want to listen to advice to make it more user-friendly even though common sense dictates otherwise. Patients, & myself, think that the statements are long & confusing. They refuse to fix most things that I point our to them as missing or not working properly.
