StarChapter keeps our local Chapter organized

Kommentare: We love the support ticket response team. They are always available and answering questions thoroughly!

Vorteile:

As a non-profit organization with new board members every two years, StarChapter has proven to be vital in keeping us organized and providing a location for documents so that we are not exchanging a large box of documents every time the board changes. It is all in one place - our applications for membership, member lists, old documents, scheduling meetings and events, sending email blasts, and even collecting payments.

Nachteile:

The cost for our small non-profit just went up in 2024 and we are not happy about that because there wasn't any added features provided with this added cost.

VASHRM Review

Vorteile:

The ease of tracking current members, maintaining conference attendees and payments for these things.

Nachteile:

It is not very user friendly. Nothing is simple. I can't just go to one place to do what I need to do, there are other steps that are critical to do before I can do what I need to. I frequently don't know what those steps are, it is not obvious. The knowledge base is not at all helpful. If I don't use words that the search will pick up on, I don't get the information I need. I frequently get results that have nothing to do with what I need. A lot of my members have problems making credit card payments.

StarChapter Fits the Bill for Us

Kommentare: It has been the best program I have used and I have worked with three different programs over the last few years as I manage multiple groups.

Vorteile:

The ease of event management from setting up registration to handling check in.

Nachteile:

I have a little difficulty with web changes but that is probably more my lack of knowledge than the program itself

Nothing. We have experienced some glitches over the years that are to be expected with any software program, but you have great tech support!

GBTA Rocky Mountain Chapter

Kommentare: It is a good product and helps us with chapter management and event organization. With additional options for reporting and arrangements set up - it would be better.

Vorteile:

There are a lot of support materials and videos, and the knowledge is intuitive and can be learned and applied easily.

Nachteile:

There are very limited options, payment processing is expensive, reporting is static, and it can't be modified a lot. Would like more reporting options and templates.

Works well but is not the easiest platform

Kommentare: Overall the system works well but it is very temperamental.

Vorteile:

Maintains membership records and provides an efficient email system.

Nachteile:

When putting in descriptions and the body of the email there are too many codes that get put into the format. Not easy to make the body of the email or meeting description look appealing.

StarChapter review

Kommentare: It is a great BASIC service for organizations that do not need more than basic functionality and features and do not have a web wizard on staff. I believe there are better services out there, but the trade-off is expense and experience/knowledge in working with websites.

Vorteile:

Ease of setup and updating the site with current material

Nachteile:

We have not had some of the functionality that other competitors provide; batch membership dues processing/payment, integration with member ID badges to swipe and log attendance at events, no ability to send automated "attendance certification" email to members who attended an event (we could do this initially but was lost during a recent update to email functions). There have been other features that we would like to have but don't recall right now.

StarChapter Enhances Association Management

Kommentare: As a new user, I'm very pleased with StarChapter and the enhancement it has provided to our association management. I love the website that was designed and how easy it is to manage for administrators and members/guests.

Vorteile:

The onboarding process was clear and well-supported by the StarChapter team.

Nachteile:

A few of our existing processes had to be adjusted in order to be accommodated by the StarChapter platform.

One stop platform for managing an organization

Vorteile:

The website is very professional and helps get members engaged.

Nachteile:

We had some hiccups on setting up our email side of the system. But was able to get them worked out. More of a "I didn't know this about" kind of situation.

Major upgrade for me!

Kommentare: Overall, this is an exceptional software with supportive customer service and knowledge base library.

Vorteile:

I love the fact that everything is in one software. I used to have to use multiple ones and now I have everything in one, easy to use, functional place. The membership tracking, the payment processing and ease of website updates are amazing.

Nachteile:

There is limited customization after a certain point. If the field hasn't already been created then in some cases you cannot create it. Some things cannot be made mandatory and there is a limited way of filtering member reports.

Room to grow from Good to Great

Kommentare: We like the website front and back end management. We like the calendaring. We like event management, although it can be improved. The webstore is generally good, but would be much better with financial integration and a more standard order to ship process flow and functionality; i.e., bundling. E-mail communications are good; however, e-mail address flagging and rectifying is AWFUL, and we strongly disagree with StarChapter's interpretation of the regulations.

Vorteile:

StarChapter offers good functionality and management for an affordable price. It puts our website and association management into the cloud, where it belongs, and doesn't require a high degree of tech savvy to manage the site or our day-to-day activity.

Nachteile:

The lack of a financial interface is PAINFUL, and it has resulted in higher than usual external accounting expense to make sense of what we do.

StarChapter

Kommentare: Overall StarChapter has been a tremendous help with our association management. It has made my job so much easier. The system is easy to manage and maintain. Our members are happy with being able to make payments easier.

Vorteile:

StarChapter set up our website with our assistance, gave us minimal training, and responds quickly to any questions I might have. They provide help to my questions about adding to, deleting, and changing the website. StarChapter is my first experience with managing a website and has been a very easy to learn and maintain.

Nachteile:

There are certain parts of our paperwork processes that have been a bit difficult to get used to on a website. But the StarChapter allows you to create support tickets to get assistance on adding or changing information. If the website does not allow certain additions, then the support area sends our suggestions to their management.

StarChapter Survey

Kommentare: The membership data storage is about the only thing I really like on StarChapter.

Vorteile:

Membership storage, event listings, reporting ease. IREM HQ links to Website.

Nachteile:

Cost is extremely high. Event communications do not look good. Content data is difficult to administer. Adding to groups is hard to manage. Customer Service is limited with only emails to help keep the site looking good.

If I knew then what I know not, I would not have recommended them

Kommentare: It was at first highly recommended by a colleague. However, that colleague is now pulling out of StarChapter for the same issues that makes our organization unhappy.
We have brought our concerns to StarChapter and have received no response.

Vorteile:

Everything in the same place. Didn't need a separate bulk emailer. Registration for events could be handled.

Nachteile:

We are international. They did not tell us up front that there were certain countries they would block and refuse to unblock (Hong Kong, for one). Their suggestion: tell our members in HK to get a VPN--which means extra cost for the members. It isn't user friendly. There is a steep learning curve.

Costly and difficult to customize

Kommentare: The site is difficult to customize, not allowing for an easy method of previewing changes. The content manager is clunky and unintuitive. The external facing side of the site is okay, though the division of content makes it difficult to navigate if one doesn't know exactly where to go.

Vorteile:

The admin dashboard presents useful statistics in a simple to understand way.

Nachteile:

It is easier for non-members to navigate the site than it is for members. Use of starchapter's payment processor is required, and quite costly if your organization does not regularly collect funds through the site. The captcha function for registration is buggy - if registering from inside my corporate VPN, it gets into a loop and I "fail" every time.

StarChapter Review

Kommentare: Expensive, but fine overall. I like the reporting function and the dashboard as they are very useful to use in completing my association reports.

Vorteile:

Consolidates functions and seems to be an effective platform.

Nachteile:

I think that pushing "woke" DEI ideology through their newsletters is grossly inappropriate. This is supposed to be a platform supporting professional organizations, not an indoctrination center.

Room for Improvement

Vorteile:

Navigating StarChapter for our SMPS chapter has been a bit challenging, as its interface can be less intuitive than desired, a bit slow and clunky. However, given the national requirement, we recognize its necessity in managing our non-profit organization. The learning curve aside, StarChapter proves valuable in allowing us to promote our programs through one system. Although there's room for improvement in user-friendliness and functionality, we appreciate the platform's overall ability to be our one-stop shop for event management tasks.

Nachteile:

Making changes is extremely difficult and there aren't any design/template options. Additionally making editing pages is extremely slow and time consuming.

Ease of Use

Vorteile:

The ability to import membership excel files monthly to update distribution lists. The storage functionality of our monthly newsletters.

Nachteile:

At times it is difficult to fins where content is nested under to make changes to the website. It takes practice to become proficient in finding these nestings.

Vorteile:

The features are not easy to manage, customer service is lackluster with self learning videos.

Apra-NY StarChapter review 2023

Kommentare: The platform is rather clunky and dated and does not make for an easy management for volunteers who manage the site as well as the front-end users.

Vorteile:

Easy to navigate. Very good customer service-always prompt response.

Nachteile:

Clunky page layout. No user friendly for non-experienced users. There are many features that we cannot get to work correctly even after reaching out to customer support for help.

Access to Tech/Customer Support Disappointing

Vorteile:

Having StarChapter manage the backend set up has been nice and I do like the templates that can be created for meetings but I haven't delved into the software enough to see what other things I may like.

Nachteile:

We haven't even launched the platform and I'm ready to go back to what we're currently using and I'm not even into the daily use of the system yet.I was provided 1 hour of online training but there is so much to learn that it is just not enough.The KnowledgeBase has been of little value and tech support is only available via email. They do have a ranking system for their email support, so I would "assume" that if you have a high-priority ticket that it would get a quicker response, but my medium-priority tickets have taken 1-2 business days to get a response.

K.A.C.E. Review

Kommentare: Very easy to work with the development staff. [SENSITIVE CONTENT] was always prompt to respond, even more so than our own Board members. ;-) Appreciate all the help given our organization as we finally achieved the goal of having a website that was not an embarrassment to direct members to.

Vorteile:

Ease of use and presentation. Having the tutorials is a big help for Board Members to learn how to utilize the website.

Nachteile:

Nothing negative at this point. ;-) Thus far any problem that I have come across was promptly dealt with through the online support request.

StarChapter has been in my life for years.

Kommentare: Overall I love StarChapter and it's capabilities for the low price it is offered for. You can't beat it!

Vorteile:

StarChapter is very user friendly and allows many members of our association the ability to keep their team information up-to-date. The website updates do not need to be handled by a web designer and can easily be learned anyone.

Nachteile:

There are a few features that could use improvement such as there are too many clicks needed when registering for an event, there is no way to add virtual login information to a calendar invite that can be saved after you register, and it would be great to have a message system that links cell phone numbers to opt in to receive text messages.
