Vorteile:

StarChapter offers a comprehensive solution for chapter management, making it a go-to for association leaders. The membership management features are robust, providing seamless tracking of member data, event registrations, and communication.

Nachteile:

Customization options for the website design could be more extensive. While the provided templates are functional, more flexibility in design elements would be appreciated.

Good integrated system

Kommentare: StarChapter has streamlined our website management with its extensive proprietary integration. Although they have just raised their prices, it is still a reasonable value and the simplest way for us to pull all of our functions together.

Vorteile:

We went with StarChapter because it integrates website, membership management and email into one system. StarChapter is based on WordPress, which makes for easier learning for users already familiar with WordPress. Event management is a plus. There's an extensive knowledgebase for help and StarChapter support department is very responsive.

Nachteile:

1. The system is so feature rich that there is a substantial learning curve to master the full capabilities. 2. Although webpage editing is based on WordPress' block editor, the content editing and navigation editing is a bit clunky. Fortunately, there is a source code (HTML) option, but StarChapter inserts additional tags based on its CSS. 3. The elimination of 3rd party payment processors in favor of its proprietary (and extra cost) StarPay system means we have to use payment links to the processor instead of keeping everything within StarChapter.

Vorteile:

The ease of tracking current members, maintaining conference attendees and payments for these things.

Nachteile:

It is not very user friendly. Nothing is simple. I can't just go to one place to do what I need to do, there are other steps that are critical to do before I can do what I need to. I frequently don't know what those steps are, it is not obvious. The knowledge base is not at all helpful. If I don't use words that the search will pick up on, I don't get the information I need. I frequently get results that have nothing to do with what I need. A lot of my members have problems making credit card payments.

Great Value

Kommentare: I've worked with Star Chapter since 2010. They have been responsive, easy to work with and great to problem solve with. I like the ease of use for my staff as well as our volunteers that want to dig in on the admin side. We have about 20 clients on the platform which allows all of our staff to work on something in StarChapter. We are able to enhance other websites based on new features we see or something a client asks for on one we can implement for others. They have been a great partner.

Vorteile:

For an affordable price, your association can host their website and manage it easily. It has all of the features needed where you don't have to have 1000 platforms and systems to manage and keep track of logins for.

Nachteile:

The biggest complaint I hear is that the meeting registration has one to two too many pages to click through vs. being a one page sign up. That would be a great feature to enhance.

Perfect product for non-profits

Kommentare: Fantastic! We were looking to rebuild and rebrand our website several years ago and I was informed of the product by IFMA International. $50/month is way better than $10,000 to develop and implement a web page.

The website is very professional and helps get members engaged.

Nachteile:

We had some hiccups on setting up our email side of the system. But was able to get them worked out. More of a "I didn't know this about" kind of situation.

The email system, it is the worst part of the system. the new system is very un-user friendly.

StarChapter Fits the Bill for Us

Kommentare: It has been the best program I have used and I have worked with three different programs over the last few years as I manage multiple groups.

Vorteile:

The ease of event management from setting up registration to handling check in.

Nachteile:

I have a little difficulty with web changes but that is probably more my lack of knowledge than the program itself

Kommentare: I am generally happy with the product, but I think there is always room for improvement. As the author [sensitive content hidden] says, the enemy of great is good.

Vorteile:

I like the "one stop shop" features of managing our organization.

Nachteile:

The product is mostly intuitive, but the webpage design and management features could be improved and simplified. The biggest thing that I think StarChapter can improve upon is the customer/technical service access. Talking to a real person the day of the issue is paramount to modern organizations, and I would suggest investing in the human capital to accomplish better customer or technical support.

StarChapter Survey

Kommentare: The membership data storage is about the only thing I really like on StarChapter.

Vorteile:

Membership storage, event listings, reporting ease. IREM HQ links to Website.

Nachteile:

Cost is extremely high. Event communications do not look good. Content data is difficult to administer. Adding to groups is hard to manage. Customer Service is limited with only emails to help keep the site looking good.

Paying for service for non existing web page.

Vorteile:

Nothing yet. We haven't had a chance to put our web page to use since it was never set up.

Nachteile:

Our StarChapter was never set up at the onset of signing on as our chapter had some issues. Tried reaching out to StarChapter about this issue and but they have sent us to training videos rather than helping us pick up where we left off. Our chapter has unfortunately been paying for this service for the last two years but our chapter never had our web page set up.

Features are good, look and use is not up to par

Kommentare: When I have questions, I don't receive answers only direction to the overall help site that doesn't answer the question directly or takes tons of research. When I have received emails back about my questions, it is not helpful and really a bit rude and so I won't use the help feature any longer.

Vorteile:

The StarChapter system seems to have all the features needed to manage our organization

Nachteile:

The website look is not antiquated. Management of the site is cumbersome and not easy.

ASHRAE StarChapter Review

Kommentare: Overall experience has been positive. StarChapter looks so much better than our previous website. Even with its cost and difficulties I believe StarChapter still allows for easy updates for the important things like events.

Vorteile:

StarChapter makes it easy to schedule events and email reminders about the events.

Nachteile:

The emails all have the same sort of bland look to them and they seem hard to customize. Certain file storage options are not easy to use on the website. Creating and managing pages can be difficult and the content customization seems to crash frequently.

Works for What We Need

Kommentare: It's something I've gotten mostly familiar with after years of use, but we always have the disclaimer for new board members that it is not super user-friendly and we'll be available to help.

Vorteile:

The member roster and event management are useful for our Chapter.

Nachteile:

The overall usage and content manager is not very user-friendly and the processes for creating templates, designing web pages, etc. is convoluted.

StarChapter Review

Kommentare: Expensive, but fine overall. I like the reporting function and the dashboard as they are very useful to use in completing my association reports.

Vorteile:

Consolidates functions and seems to be an effective platform.

Nachteile:

I think that pushing "woke" DEI ideology through their newsletters is grossly inappropriate. This is supposed to be a platform supporting professional organizations, not an indoctrination center.

Kommentare: The platform is rather clunky and dated and does not make for an easy management for volunteers who manage the site as well as the front-end users.

Vorteile:

Easy to navigate. Very good customer service-always prompt response.

Nachteile:

Clunky page layout. No user friendly for non-experienced users. There are many features that we cannot get to work correctly even after reaching out to customer support for help.

StarChapter Qualities

Kommentare: We are pleased but it's expensive and so it's a year-tp-year decision

Nachteile:

Not easy for a non-technical person to master all the features, and we had to jump[p way up in member capacity/pricing when we needed just a small boost to accomodate a few more members

Access to Tech/Customer Support Disappointing

Vorteile:

Having StarChapter manage the backend set up has been nice and I do like the templates that can be created for meetings but I haven't delved into the software enough to see what other things I may like.

Nachteile:

We haven't even launched the platform and I'm ready to go back to what we're currently using and I'm not even into the daily use of the system yet.I was provided 1 hour of online training but there is so much to learn that it is just not enough.The KnowledgeBase has been of little value and tech support is only available via email. They do have a ranking system for their email support, so I would "assume" that if you have a high-priority ticket that it would get a quicker response, but my medium-priority tickets have taken 1-2 business days to get a response.

All in One

Vorteile:

I appreciate the services offered, but what really stands out to me with StarChapter is the outstanding customer service. If I have a question or encounter an issue, help is on the way!

Nachteile:

I don't have any cons about the software. But I warn new users, it can be a lot to take in at first. However, once you get into the swing of it, you'll wonder how you managed without it.

Review of StarChapter

Kommentare: This has really brought our organization to a one-stop shop. We had files everywhere, and when people would drop off the board, sometimes we lost information. This allows us to keep it in one place and make the transfer easier for the Chapter.

Vorteile:

It's a total package for our membership organization. It allows one program that can be easily transferred to the new board each year. No need to have separate files.

Nachteile:

Some of the areas for managing the website are not easy to find, but once you have done it a few times, it starts to get easier. It would be nice to see what the regular member sees when adding items.It's hard to get everyone on the board together to train. Individual training is fine, but it is more beneficial together.It would be nice to have a calendar that members could pull up by month and see the upcoming events. And allow us to add events to the calendar that aren't specific to our chapter but interest our members.

User friendly

Kommentare: My overall experience with StarChapter is good, and it performs well.

The software is mostly user-friendly and customer service is quick to respond to questions.

Nachteile:

Our use of StarChapter is not integrated into other applications. It would be very helpful to be able to use coupons toward membership dues for both new members and renewals. We give free memberships occasionally and would like to offer discounts to some students from time-to-time.

Works well for general purpose use but starts to crack at the edges

Kommentare: Overall the experience has been mostly positive. I wish StarChapter would make more of an effort to incorporate a few small enhancement requests I've made, mainly allowing users to select the time zone of a meeting when setting one up.

Vorteile:

StarChapter is easy to use once you get over the initial learning curve and there are a lot of resources provided to help with setup. Our website works well for most purposes and is easy to update and manage.

Nachteile:

StarChapter does not seem to handle special use cases very well. Our organization spans several time zones but meetings can only be set in the time zone of the administrator. The platform cannot process payments from outside our country which creates some issues for us as well as people from Canada regularly come to our events.
