Excellent

Vorteile:

Works great to help us tie our books to our off service reporting at month end. Use it monthly to tie all the accounts and verify our numbers are tied.

Nachteile:

sometime it is a little slow and jams up loading excel

Spreadsheet Server Saves Time and is Easy to use.

Kommentare: Spreadsheet server is easy to use and refreshes my data immediately. I love all the options I have, I can access any GL data I choose. I'm able to build all of my financial statements, budgets, and financial ratios in one file and it updates effortlessly from period to period.

Vorteile:

I spend less time mining data and more time analyzing the data. I use this for financial reporting and budgeting and any scenario I can think of or want to analyze, I'm able to build it into my spreadsheet and have it update the data based on the period I want to analyze.

Nachteile:

My only drawback is occassionally Spreadsheet Server loses a connection to my data and I have to contact support for a reboot. Which isn't inconvenient during the week, but support is not able to assist me on the weekends.

We use this product as a replacement for Oracle FSG reports for departmental and location reporting.

Kommentare: Reporting times dropped from 3 to 4 days to overnight.

Vorteile:

The product offers great flexibility, looks at the live data and all hierarchies. Distribution Manager and Profile Scheduler really enhance the reporting functionality.

Nachteile:

Performance is slow particularly for transaction based reports. Updating to the very latest software was of great help but we had to move the transactions to a table for quicker queries. This allowed reports to be able to complete overnight (around 8 hours) but we are limited to only a periods worth of data at a time for transaction based reports. The translated ledgers are not currently working but consolidation ledger are so not a top priority but something to fix in the future.

Spreadsheet Server- Vista software

Kommentare: I am using vista software which has horrible extracting and SS is helping to convert data into favorable excel formats

Vorteile:

converting vista data into organized excel format with decent times

Nachteile:

it took while to get the install transferred license since multiple channels have limited access and not connected

Powerful Reporting and Analytics Tool

Vorteile:

The ease in which I can create reports and do on the fly analysis.

Nachteile:

There isn't much. The only drawback is change control. Since it is an add-in to Excel, anyone can go in and change a report. Also, you have to touch every report if a change is made. This is definitely a minor drawback, as there are ways to implement controls.

Self Service Reporting

Kommentare: We have been very happy with Spreadsheet Server and have completely replaced Financial Reporting Studio. The speed with which we can issue reports, modify financials, or create new reports/analysis has greatly improved by using Spreadsheet Server.

Vorteile:

Spreadsheet server gives the control of report writing to accountants all within native Excel that we are all familiar with. Implementation was simple and quick and involved very little IT support. The tool is simple to use and only required a few hours of training to get everyone started on building their own reports.

Nachteile:

With Oracle Cloud our Oracle tables have to be replicated to a separate server. This means reporting isn't real time (but it is close).

Vorteile:

Spreadsheet Server is a life saver when it comes to reporting results from our ERP system into Excel

Nachteile:

The only drawback is the amount of time it can take to update the connections. This is easily fixed by making sure you are on the latest version but sometimes you are unaware.

Kommentare: Overall I had a great experience using Spreadsheet Server. We have used Spreadsheet Server from last several years and have implemented to many of our customers. Although it is not a advance analytics and reporting tool but this is really handy for organizations which are depended upon excel and want ERP connectivity

Vorteile:

- Spreadsheet server can be connected directly to ERP system to pull real time data from the system. - It is really easy to create financial reports using spreadsheet server - Drill down from Accounts to Ledger is very useful functionality - Query Designer (which is available for advance Spreadsheet Server users) is really useful to create ad-hoc queries to pull operational data and create reports

Nachteile:

- One of the difficult task is to upload budget into the system.It is not a straightforward task and really time consuming from user's perspective

Spreadsheet Server for Budgeting and Financial Statements

Kommentare: Our company is willing to try new software in order to hold a competitive edge in the construction business. I was involved in implementation a few years ago, and now I continue to use this software every month. Integrating with cloud-based software was the last hurdle I had, and they resolved that over a year ago. I can't recommend this software enough. As long as you have someone comfortable using it, you may be surprised at how many different applications it will have in your business.

Vorteile:

You can build reports quickly that are easy to share, but really I use it for forensic accounting in my property management company. Being able to pull data in, then drill down for more information is huge. Being able to shift between periods/YTD reporting on the fly is helpful, and being in Excel makes it very easy to pivot and build tables or charts using the information Spreadsheet Server is pulling in. We have multiple companies with different ERP systems, so Spreadsheet Server's ability to pull data from multiple sources has been invaluable to me. This saves me a lot of time that would have gone to drilling down into information in each ERP.

Nachteile:

I have plans to build more custom queries, but I wish there was a database of common custom queries I could review. I suppose this would have to be user-generated, but perhaps Insight could host a forum, or post commonly asked-for custom queries.

Spreadsheet Server - Live Connection to the GL

Kommentare: Outstanding, easy to set up tool that keeps my staff in Excel and productive, rather than bothering MIS or struggling with more complicated data warehouses and sequel scripts.

Vorteile:

I like the ease of use and the ease of implementation. Spreadsheet Server connects the regular users directly to the TB and GL of our ERP, directly from Excel. No involvement from MIS.

Nachteile:

When Spreadsheet Server is re-calculating the links to the GL, sometimes Excel bombs.

Spreadsheet Server Review

Kommentare: Overall, we like the product. If the expenditure reports could run faster, we would have a greater love for the product.

Vorteile:

The best thing about Spreadsheet Server is the ability to utilize excel to build our reports. We love that we have the ability to add graphs and prior year information to our reports for trends and ratios. In addition, we can add multiple tabs with more detailed 'drill down' data that provides the detail needed for analytics.

Nachteile:

The most difficult part of spreadsheet server is the amount of time it takes to run our reports. We have multiple departments in our organization and running the expenditure reports for all of these departments takes more time than it should.

Reporting tool for Companies who don't want to break the bank but want to customize reporting

Kommentare: We have used Spreadsheet server on two accounting platforms successfully. When we moved to NetSuite updating our reporting to the new Spreadsheet server formulas was easy and didn't require us to re-build reports. We have a great rep, [sensitive content hidden], who is very reliable and eager to assist with any issues.

Vorteile:

Customizable; Connection to accounting system; Allows for formatting; Based in Excel; easy to understand the formulas

Nachteile:

Adding users can be challenging; Excel add-in makes it quirky.

Spreadsheet Server - your friend in excel

Vorteile:

I'm using this tool almost every week to make sure that everything is looking fine at the month end and this tool is very easy to use and is making my life easier. It is very easy tool to learn, but you need a little bit of understanding to make sure that you can use every feature there. Customer suppoert is very helpful and guys from IT is making sure that everything is 100% clear.

Nachteile:

Sometimes it has worse days, especially on month end where there is so much going on at once.

Sales team ran a demo that made Queries seem a lot simpler than it was. We were unable to match our WIP reporting in Queries after making the purchase. However, the financial reporting side has been flawless.

Whenever there is an issue I can reach out to support and they are always very helpful at finding a quick resolution. The overall product makes it easy to grab information from other ERPs for a quick and simple way to do FP&A.

Nachteile:

Nothing particularly against spreadsheet server, but it is difficult to host on cloud platforms. Takes a little extra work, but is still achievable.

Vorteile:

Flexibility and ease of use for real-time access to your data. Once templates are setup, it is very simple to refresh your data and get up-to-date reports in a format most folks are familiar with (Excel).

Nachteile:

On some large datasets, it takes some time for the reports to update. With respect to licensing, it would be better if there was a "concurrent user" model available.
