Excellent tool for qualitative data analysis & management

Kommentare: Excellent newer tool to the market for social scientists, researchers, and those who have periodic needs to analyze and manage qualitative data. I've used the tool for a recent project interviewing stakeholders -- including respondents from a donor, government agency, UN organizations, and non-profits -- in a project related to a public health program in a developing country to understand what is working and not working from different organizational and professional perspectives. I signed up for the Delve monthly subscription and will keep using it for my next project.

Vorteile:

Delve is the qualitative data analysis tool I was waiting for! I have periodic projects requiring qualitative data analysis of interview transcripts in English and sometimes French. Within a few minutes of signing up, I had dragged transcripts into the project panes and was coding data. It is easy-to-use, with a clean interface that required no lag-time of reviewing instructions or familiarizing myself with the tool. Favorite features: - Intuitive especially tagging features including to merge, rename, or change hierarchy of thematic codes - Web-based tool (no need to install software onto the computer) - French and other languages can be used - Option to add demographic information and descriptors to the transcript that can later be filtered - Useful filter options to quickly pull up data and transcript excerpts in different ways - Very reasonably priced

Nachteile:

None - it surpassed expectations and I will continue using

Great product, even greater resources

Kommentare: Overall, I am grateful for software like Delve that gave me the opportunity to quickly conduct a qualitative analysis for a pilot study. Other options exist; however, the wealth of resources that Delve offers (for free) on the fundamentals of qualitative methods sold me over the competition. I appreciate developers who know who their audience is and how they can help them beyond the product they are offering. Thank you, Delve!

Vorteile:

The most practical aspect of Delve is, firstly and foremost, the resources available to embark on Qualitative analysis. Without those resources, I would not have been able to approach my research questions. It was then very easy for me to use Delve because of the software's intuitiveness. I could not spend precious time learning how to use the software and focus that time on my research.

Nachteile:

Since I used Delve for a pilot study for a project, I did not have to expand in other areas of Delve to explore some of the limitations possible. To the extent I used Delve, there was not much to dislike.

Kommentare: overall my experience till now with delve was Excellent. it was worth for the money, I may continue to use this even after I graduate from college wound't mind at all for spending my money on Delve. Coz it's worth buying this product. Must have Product for Qualitative Analysis.

Vorteile:

if you are a beginner in Qualitative analysis methods, Delve is a go to for Data analysis. Made my Analysis journey easier and time efficient. I like the option as coding using AI which works really very and reducing half of your time on coding every transcript. I also like description option for every code making it easier to write the narrative which is so true as mentioned in the introduction video of Delve.

Nachteile:

First: I wish there was Auto transcribing optionI which is a first step in qualitative analysis is transcribing interviews and then moving on to coding. Second: wanted color coding to differentiate between themes and underlining of the sentences in different colors to identify between common codes and least used code.

Delve Software

Vorteile:

Delve software helps me to deductively and inductively produce my codes. I am writing my dissertation for my PhD degree and the software was so help. I have use the coding patterns in my data analysis and have develop into themes.

Nachteile:

I am looking for diagraming my codes or concepts that develop out of the data. What is missing is the concept map or the word cloud. it would be best if it could generate that one, but it would costly i think , this one is very affordable for a student. Thank you delve for the help.

Delve for dissertation - yes!

Kommentare: I've used it daily for about a week now and I really love it! I've been in conversation with the Delve team who answer my questions almost immediately. Really appreciate that kind of direct interaction! The Delve platform is exactly what I need where others were overwrought and too expensive.

Vorteile:

Simple, easy-to-use, interface with powerful search and analysis capabilities. Top-notch customer service always available, both bot and real people.

Nachteile:

Needs more options for grouping codes; needs color options for coding and the interface; needs place for field notes and expanded participant info.

Qualitative analysis with undergrads

Kommentare: Delve is great! Its easy to use, and very affordable. I will certainly use it again next time I have a qualitative project.

Vorteile:

Delve is very user-friendly. Its quite intuitive, so its easy for new users, including students, to pick it up. It is also very affordable and easy to cancel. I was able to work with undergraduate students during the school year, then pause our subscription until we could resume after the summer and winter break. It is great that we are able to see each other's codebooks, so I was able to see that our students were making progress on their coding. The export feature was super helpful when we were done with our project. I was able to export all of our codes, which is making it easier to put the manuscript together.

Nachteile:

One feature that could be improved would be keeping track of overlapping codes. There were several times when we accidentally double coded the same block of text, but it was not easy to visibly distinguish between the underlined text and identify the double code.

Highly Recommend Delve

Kommentare: I already coded three transcripts and it helped me to be productive.

Vorteile:

It is simple to use and very interactive. It was easy to code and also the snippets sections are very useful. I also loved the filter section for the codes.

Nachteile:

I liked it a lot. No complains so far. Would be great if in the future, there would be a summary section and also a way to connect the codes (as network) and visualize it to see a pattern.

Super helpful!

Kommentare: Biggest pro in my opinion is the learning materials, because I wouldnt have been able to do my analysis without all the data they provide online. This was the key reason I decided to use it - I felt like I have enough information to do the coding and analysis. And when I got stuck, customer support was right there with their fast responses.

Vorteile:

I found it very helpful to have a tool that enabled me to iteratively improve on my code until I was able to move on to interpretation. It was also useful when I needed to write my narrative to be able to come back to the snippets and remember all the important findings from the data.

Nachteile:

I needed some time to figure out how the grouping worked. And I would LOVE an undo button just in case.

Delve, 10/10!!!

Kommentare: Overall, the experience was amazing. I recently found out that the Article that I submitted was published and I have to thank Delve (which I did acknowledge) for being the source for my Data analysis.

Vorteile:

The setup of Delve is easy to Navigate and the ability to collaborate on a project was so accessible.

Nachteile:

Honestly, there were no cons that I experienced during my time using Delve.

Complete End-to-End Experience Designed by Experts in the Field

Kommentare: I used the free trial for about 10 days to complete my small project. During this time, I learned how to conduct qualitative analysis as a research method and applied what I learned from their comprehensive free resources (the course, YouTube videos as well as their blog entry) on the software to finish my project. In that sense it was an end-to-end experience for me in all respects.

Vorteile:

I've been fortunate to find an excellent tool, DelveTool, designed by experts in the field. Their resources alleviated so much stress and helped me learn how to conduct my work.Once I learned the process, I found the software incredibly intuitive. You can simply select lines, write code, and everything is organized neatly. If I were to give an analogy, I'd say the entire tool (their free sources and the software) explains complex subjects as well as an expert explaining them to someone else in the simplest terms. I find their place in the market to be completely inclusive of what one may need in the process of conducting qualitative research.

Nachteile:

This tool is incredible. There is no cons to it on my side.

Fantastic qualitative analysis and organization tool that saves time!

Kommentare: Delve has helped me reduce my hands-on analysis time that I was doing manually: reading Word transcripts, copying and pasting verbatims into a separate document, making notes about findings in yet another document, and writing into a PPT file. Using Delve, it is easier to focus just on coding to start, without getting sidetracked analyzing what I am reading. Once coding is finished, the selected excerpts are already organized based on my own custom outline and I can begin analyzing right away, rather than spending time organizing my notes before I can begin the analysis and writing process. I have also found Delve especially valuable when working with a large number of interviews because the platform helps me stay much more organized and be able to digest the data in a much more manageable format.

Vorteile:

Great feature set is very intuitive to learn and start using right away. Interface makes it very easy to construct codes, highlight and code text and view excerpts in different ways. Being able to code as little as a word or as much as a paragraph (or multiple paragraphs) results in more robust coding. Knowing that I can focus solely on coding and let the platform categorize the data for me means coding takes much less time than doing it by hand. Once I have coded everything, I can then view the data in different ways, start my analysis and find the story. I also love the responsiveness of the Delve team. They are available via email and chat, and are not only helpful when I have needed immediate support on a usability question, but they are also extremely receptive to user suggestions and welcome ideas from users on improvements that would make Delve even more valuable and useful.

Nachteile:

I have not encountered any significant drawbacks or issues with the Delve platform. While there are some minor limitations, Delve has been great at communicating about platform improvements and increased functionality - some of which I have seen implemented since I started using the platform about 5 months ago.

Qualitative research for students

Kommentare: As a masters-level student needing to complete a qualitative study and thesis, Delve got me up to speed quickly and gave me access to intuitive and easy-to-use categorizing and coding tools, all at a great price.

Vorteile:

The ability to get up to speed very quickly in order to categorize and code with ease. Very intuitive interface!

Nachteile:

Exported coded texts were very lengthy documents, but there may be no way around that.

Quick start, intuitive, & inexpensive

Kommentare: I used this for qualitative research, mainly coding and analysis of interview data. I have already recommended Delve to colleagues and will definitely continue to use it in the future.

Vorteile:

I loved how easy it was for me to get started coding my interview transcripts right away. I didn't have to waste any time figuring out a program because everything on Delve is so straightforward and intuitive. The education pricing is so inexpensive that Delve would be highly appropriate for students just learning how to code as well as seasoned researchers. It's also flexible enough that you only pay for the time that you're using the program - in my case I used it all the time at first, then paused my membership and reopened it when I had new data and analysis to do.

Nachteile:

The only thing I can think of is maybe adding the ability to download a full transcript with the codes marked - I may have just missed this if it's a current feature.

Delve and my disseration

Kommentare: I told my doctoral cohort about Delve and the ease at which it was to use. I coded over one hundred pages of code in about ninety minutes! I had spent more time than that trying to figure out the other type of software I was using prior. It was worth the money for the time it saved me in coding and looking at my data so I coul explain it clearly in my doctoral dissertation.

Vorteile:

I had tried other methods of coding my information and it was cumbersome and confusing. I found Delve and it was use friendly. I was able to extract and organized my data in a way that I could understand it, manipulate it and it just made sense to me.

Nachteile:

I did not find anything that I didn't like about Delve however I did not use it to its full capabilities...I am sure of that.

It was a life saver!!

This product was extremely easy to use and it had all of the features that I was looking for!

Nachteile:

There really wasn’t anything that I would consider bad about the program. Especially once I got used to using it

Easy and Convenient Qualitative Analysis Program

Kommentare: This is a top quality program that makes qualitative analysis very easy. I was very uneasy going into this process and within minutes of using Delve, I felt infinitely more comfortable. I would recommend this product to both new users and veterans of qualitative analysis.

Vorteile:

How easy it was to use. There are videos to help you get started. The emails that were sent by the company were not annoying, they were helpful and gave me ideas to help start my coding by giving me sample codes to use.

Nachteile:

I can't say that there isn't anything I dislike about the software. This is my first time doing qualitative analysis and I had a choice between this and a program provided by my school. I chose to use this on a recommendation and haven't found anything wrong.

Delve for master thesis

Kommentare: I can only recommend this software! Compared to using word or excel to code interviews, Delve is definitely worth the money.

Vorteile:

I have used delve to analyze +60 pages of transcripts for my master thesis and it was indeed a game changer. The software was way cheaper compared to competing software and it made it very easy to code, analyze and export data. I have a few time contacted customer service and every time I have received an answer within an hour. Furthermore, their youtube videos on how to conduct a qualitative analysis are really worth watching if you don't have any experience in this type of analysis.

Nachteile:

For the purpose of my thesis the software included everything that was needed.

If you're doing Qualitative Analysis, use Delve.

Kommentare: I couldn't have been happier with Delve; the tool, the support, the teaching, my experience from start to finish was fantastic.

Vorteile:

Delve not only taught me how to conduct Qualitative Analysis (I was a complete newbie to the concept) but made it incredibly easy to do. The software is intuitive, but there's detailed guidance available on how to get the most out of it, and if I ever had any specific questions, I was able to get near-immediate and detailed support on exactly how to do what I wanted to.

Nachteile:

The ability to group codes beyond 3 tiers may have been useful in some respects, but in others, it forced me to be strict with my coding which lead to a better outcome.

Delve was an answer to a prayer!

Kommentare: I am solving problems for the business community with regards to having entrepreneurs consider weaknesses inherent within social media marketing before implementing social media in their businesses.

Vorteile:

I had enough on my plate with theoretical/conceptual frameworks, literature review, references, data collection, APA, developing research and interview questions...IRB approval. I had zero time to learn a software in order to analyze my data and report the findings in my dissertation. Delve is so user-friendly my niece could code!

Nachteile:

That I could not upload other media (i,e video or pdf) and experience the same ease of use.

Super useful, simple and intutive

Kommentare: Super useful, simple and unfriendly. Hence I saved a tons of hours learning a complex software and using it. Also price is very competitive for student version. Also, customer service is excellent. Most of the time I never needed to wait longer than a few hours and max a day. I am happy that I was able to complete my project within a desired time frame. Vorteile:

Very simple and doesn't require any long training hours. Just go through 30 min long quick short videos and you are all set.

Nachteile:

color coding is not available. compatibility with other qual software in terms of importing and exporting is not there. It is a web application, so continuously require internet.

Life-saving!

Vorteile:

For a first-time researcher like me, Delve made the process so simple and effective. It helped me save time that I might've wasted in trying to learn another software that wouldn't be as user-friendly. I also love the customer support! The team at Delve is extremely accessible !

Nachteile:

It would like to be able to order the quotes within a given code in different orders, as well as nest more than three labels within a label. Those are very minor things, barely relevant. Overall, I loved the experience.

Use of Delve in a Qualitative analysis of interviews

Kommentare: I was analyzing interviews of nurses and physicians and I was worried I would not get enough results or conclusions from the brief interviews, but the way Delve helped analyze really brought out meaningful results

Vorteile:

Coding was fast and easy, but the way Delve helped me analyze the data was where I most appreciated the software. I also used the chat and email to ask questions and got fast answers

Nachteile:

Nothing to report for cons. Delve looks almost too simple, like it’s not sophisticated but it is.
