Easiest way to cut down on meetings and create tutorials!

Kommentare: Overall it's been amazing, I started on the free account then when I realized how much time it was saving me (with making tutorials for a remote team) it was an easy decision to start paying for it. They also roll out new features so I feel they really listen to feedback.

Vorteile:

I love how easy it is to use, even if you are not tech-savvy it's easy to use. It's easy to organize my recordings with folders and share them with team members and clients. It saves me so much time by creating short screen recordings versus having to have a meeting. It's also low-cost compared to other software solutions.

Nachteile:

I have no cons for it, I think it's great. Even the free account offers a lot.

Loom is the original and still the best by leaps and bounds.

Kommentare: From using the free version when they first released their product, to now paying for the professional version, I am constantly impressed. It is a vital part of how we provide support to our clients.

Vorteile:

After trying every other option out there, from Bonjoro, Vimeo Record, and Dropbox Capture, desktop software like Snagit and Camtasia, and other similar pieces of software, Loom stands head and shoulders above all of them. It is simple to record, the video is uploaded quickly, the processing is ridiculously fast, the editing is faster than I have seen and it does what it says on the box.

Nachteile:

Sometimes the webcam and the sound is a little out of sync.

Sometimes I have problems with the recording function if using a browser other than Chrome.

Horrible experience with Loom - warning everyone

Kommentare: I used Loom for 2 months, and experienced several instances of video recording randomly stopping. There was no pattern to it and no explanation. Randomly, it would just stop recording mid video.However, the infuriating part is that THERE IS NO INDICATION THE RECORDING HAS STOPPED. I'd just keep making video, hit save, and find out my 5 minute video was actually a 37 second video, and I'd just wasted a bunch of time.This has been an issue that has plagued me since day one, and I have attempted to reach out to support only to learn THERE IS NO SUPPORT. It's just a feature request system - it's a joke.This is a terrible tool, it has wasted hours of productivity, and I would strongly caution anyone from using it. It is unreliable and there is no support.

Vorteile:

At first glance, Loom seemed like a great screen recording tool that saved time.

Nachteile:

Screen recording feature randomly fails - you'll be making a video to explain something to someone, and recording will stop. However, you won't *know* recording has stopped, so you'll waste minutes talking away, hit save, and find out your video didn't fully record. Infuriating.

Loom is an awesome recording tool!

My favorite feature of Loom is the short videos have completely replaced the need for some meetings, allowing my team more time for work. The time limit allows my team to be more concise in updates.

Nachteile:

There is not anything I dislike about Loom.

Kommentare: It has been wonderful! I have saved my time and that of my teams. The company has used it as a way to break the ice with prospects and it has been effective.

Vorteile:

It's so easy to get started, just connect, provide permissions, and you're ready to go. Getting into it and using is effortless.

Nachteile:

Editing isn't hard, but it can be confusing. At times I was unsure if I was deleting the selected portion, or the rest of the video.

Why Choose Loom over Zoom?

Vorteile:

Super easy to use. Similar interface to Zoom, Skype, etc. Ease of recording and Chrome extension really boosted the product's usefulness.

Nachteile:

The only issue was that one older person on my team would always forget to record, complaining about it being too hard to use. Turned out they never read any of the how-to's or the use documentation.

Feature-rich tool with practical sharing options

Kommentare: Helped me a lot of times to create quick tutorials for my team members.

Vorteile:

I like that you can use it for free (with certain limits) to be able to make an informed decision before buying. It's also a very convenient tool thanks to the practical sharing options.

Nachteile:

The browser extension, while seemingly practical, didn't work well for me at all. Most of the time I had to use the main app instead.

Kommentare: We have used Loom on and off for a couple years now. We are able to create instructional videos for other employees and share them easily.

No real cons other than its a paid app but it offers a lot and worth it.

Loom is a must have tool for a remote first scale up

Kommentare: Loom was easily adopted across the organisation with people enjoying the UX/UI and ease to generate high quality content. Loom is riding the way of video content crucial for internal and external alignment as you scale.

Vorteile:

Loom is such an incredibly easy tool to use across the company. We've used a few solutions in the past including slack recordings and clickup but truthfully, Loom has far more powerful capabilities via their rich feature set. Instant embed is a huge feature for us enabling you to simply copy and paste a link. The ability to measure insights and analytics on videos is important given we use Loom for external business development. In addition, the ability to tag others in a video, comment and engage supercharges your ability to work seamlessly across timezones. We have employees all over the world so it's crucial.

Nachteile:

The biggest challenge was whether we actually choose a dedicated video platform (additional charges + additional learning internally and yet another tool). ClickUp is getting far more sophisticated with recordings and of course, you want to consolidate as much as you possibly can. In saying that, in the end, Loom is too good and we decided to use alongside other tools.

I Love This Application

Kommentare: Application, add-in, software, Life-changing thingy . . . call it what you will, Loom has changed my life and could very well yours, too. I'm serious. I use Loom not only for teaching, which has made a huge difference in my effectiveness--especially with online teaching, but also for communication with any number of people in my role as a Dean in higher education. People actually think I know what I'm talking about and think that I'm effective when all I do is use Loom. Very few products or services are this user friendly and this consequential in delivering on outcomes that matter. Use Loom; you won't regret it, and it might just change your life.

Vorteile:

Ease of Use; functionality to organize videos online; length of videos even in the free version.

Nachteile:

That you have to pay to get premium features, now (they used to be revolutionary in that you didn't have to pay for it) and that unlike Jing, you can't just drag and capture whatever you want--it's either your screen of the application in you're in.

A GREAT product for screen capture and demonstrations

Kommentare: I am responsible for instructing faculty on how to use software - the Loom system allows me to 'show and tell' via video how to do various things, how to solve problems, etc. Many faculty tell me they keep my loom videos and refer to them later.

Vorteile:

There is a lot I like about this software - it's ease of use, it's library of my saved files, the option to download the video into .mp4 format to name a few. I like that I can rename the videos, that I can paste the link and have it play when my recipients click the link. I like the options to use screen only, static picture of myself, or video of myself in the corner while doing the demonstration. I also like the 'desktop' option for screencapture so if my video crosses programs I can have it on the same video!

Nachteile:

The one thing I would really like is a 'screen shot' option. I currently need to use another program for screenshots that allow me to take a screenshot, draw arrows and circles, and captions. Since Loom is only video I need to use both programs....but Loom is so great, I don't mind the hassle.

Great, Fast, and Simple Screen Recording Tool

Kommentare: With Loom, I'm able to screen record things that are difficult to explain with words. This is essential given my team works in offices across the country. It allows my teammates to explain complicated software bugs to me so that I can easily reproduce and verify them. I use Loom more than any other Chrome extension.

Vorteile:

Loom is really useful for recording issues that I run into as a software tester. Having the power to start recording my screen in just a couple clicks saves so much time for me so that I don't have to verbally communicate or write out how to reproduce a bug. It's built right into Chrome, but you can record anything else on your screen with it as well. You can opt for it to record your face while you're doing the screen recording too. It's really intuitive and quick to start recording, and sharing a recording is as easy as sending someone a URL.

Nachteile:

There's not much to dislike with Loom. If I had one con, it'd be that it doesn't remember my preferred settings each time I record. It will default to recording my face and my audio, which I usually turn off each time.

Virtual Schooling Tool!

Kommentare: My overall experience has been awesome. I have never had a bad experience. The videos always work. I have used them for all kinds of things, from working with students to showing parents where to find important forms to fill out to training, etc. I cannot imagine going back to my job without Loom! Any chance I get, I spread the word as well!

Vorteile:

I love that I can show a student, teacher, or state department liaison what I am working on and exactly what my question is. This saves an insane amount of time during my work week. I love that it is so easy to grab my recording with a link. I am not sure if all, but most of the teachers at my school are using this tool now, after I did a demonstration at our back to school meeting in August. We are a virtual school and this is such a valuable tool for all subject areas.

Nachteile:

I wish we had more than 100 free videos, but I understand the reasoning behind this. I wish there was a special package for educators. This is such a great tool to help us teach students and teachers get so little discounts as it is.

Great product and easy to use

Vorteile:

Accessibility, Usability, Interaction, Notifications. This tool is easy to open and it gives you easy access to your recorded videos. I have really enjoyed being notified when someone views it because I use this tool as feedback for my online class and it helps to see how often and whom is viewing each of my recordings. I even have back and forth discussions just below the video page.

Nachteile:

I had a few instances when a video failed to upload because it was taking forever. I couldn't be certain if this was due to the internet in our location or Loom, but it happened more than once but no more than 4 times in the last two years I have used it. There were also a couple of times when my microphone didn't connect for whatever reason and I recorded an entire video without sound. Each time I now doublecheck my audio to make sure it works before recording. Never had a problem with that when I check now.

A Great Video Tool for Fast & Clear Collboration!

Kommentare: Overall I highly recommend Loom Video! It's a really nifty tool that is definitely utilized in this modern world of phones and Zoom. I really don't like setting up, planning, and sitting on Zoom for hours and this replaces that when it's really not necessary. I also deal with a lot of people overseas and this works so well for sharing work ideas with them when we can't talk regularly. Plus you can watch the video over and over so to me it's actually a more information way to present info to people. It's a really great idea and the execution is just a good. It's a product I use almost daily and will continue to use it and recommend it to anyone collaborating with others for work!

Vorteile:

I really love the overall concept of Loom! It makes it really easy to send videos back and forth to people or teams you're working with, so you can adequately convey your message without the need for long video calls. The platform is also super simple to use which makes the whole process easier.

Nachteile:

The only thing I would say about Loom is that I wish it was a little bit better on the mobile phone. It's awesome on your laptop but maybe it could be quicker and easier there.

Communicate Quickly & Easily

Kommentare: Great tool. Cost effective. Easy to use for fast communications and you need the impact of a video. Wonderful for quick communications.

Vorteile:

Really easy to use. Just press a button to record. You can select full screen, just self, or a combination of both. Love having that flexibility. I like how you can change the settings on videos quickly and even password protect them. Perfect solution for making training videos for team members.

Nachteile:

It's a bit clunky when it comes to being able to setup and delete folders. Same things applies to deleting videos. Too many keyclicks to complete certain basic actions. Cumbersome to move things around. Would love to see drag and drop funtionality in the future.

I use it daily, very practical to use, simple but incredibly powerful.

The solution to my problems

Kommentare: Being able to download and watch my academic content whenever and wherever I wanted was a marvel for my learning, being able to record and watch my screen provided the continuity of my academic course during the pandemic.

Vorteile:

The use of the loom made it possible in pandemic times to view my university classes whenever I needed them. The plugin greatly facilitates usability by turning the entire process into a web environment, greatly facilitating system mobility.

Nachteile:

When an internet crash occurs, the loom has a recording failure, a fact that can interrupt or shred a presentation, but it is a feature inherent to a web system.

Excellent feedback tool

Kommentare: Clients appreciate getting video feedback. It is so efficient and conveys the message so much more efficiently than without it.

Vorteile:

Loom is an indispensable tool that improves feedback to clients and project stakeholders. I like the fact that we can record screen and camera and share easily. The new transcription feature is useful as well since we work with many individuals for which English is their second language.

Nachteile:

Editing a video is a bit clunky. Selecting a part of the video is not easy, clicking on the up / down arrow incites a freakish repetition sequence that is super annoying. I hope they fix this. Edits also take too long to process, sometimes 30 minutes or an hour or longer, just to delete a short clip of the video.

Future of e-Learning

Vorteile:

Screencast video for lecture, grading feedback, and asynchronous dialogue is a game changer. Loom makes it extraordinarily easy and convenient to install, use, and engage with the content I create for my students. My students are more engaged and appreciate the dynamic and comprehensive nature of Loom.

Nachteile:

Loom doesn't always operate perfectly on high security networks without an enterprise effort to ensure its usability through the firewall and browser security protocols. In addition, it would be nice to easily insert tags and notes within a video as part of a limited suite of editing tools. Finally, it would be nice to offer higher resolution content but there are obvious trade offs in streaming.

Great screen recording software

Kommentare: Loom is a great platform to create video documentation of your processes, show something specific that a screenshot wont allow or just a way to use video to explain things to a team member or client.

Vorteile:

Loom is very easy to setup and use. The editing of your videos is simple and has no learning curve.

Nachteile:

I wish there was more functionality within the free version.

Kommentare: I have a very positive experience with Loom, after using it for years. The tool keeps improving, is very stable and easy to use. That's how I like it. Loom saves me a lot of time and only takes a few clicks to be up and running. That's refreshing in the software world.

Vorteile:

I've been a fan since day 1 and have been using Loom a lot on my desktop. What I love the most is how fast and easy it is to quickly make a recording of your screen or a combination of screen and camera. Audio and video quality is good and it's hosted for you pretty much instantly. It's a handy tool that I've shared within my business and with friends and family.

Nachteile:

I don't have any complaints. Loom offers a great set of features for being a free product. There's an upgraded plan as well but I didn't need that yet. I'll definitely consider it, as the Loom team is awesome and provides excellent support.
