If you can afford it, why not...

5,0 vor 3 Wochen Neu

Vorteile:

Revit, with all its capabilities, will definitely make your draughting process more efficient and as we all know, "time is money," so therefore efficiency is key. Ever since I started using Revit, I have been able to shave off quite a bit of time off my draughting process, which means that in my small business, I am able to take on more projects. Because changes on one view, are instantly in effect on all affected views, I am far less stressed about my deadlines.

Nachteile:

Currently, a major con is the price of the software. Considering that I am in a developing country, the price is very steep. As I do not work for a major company and I only work on small architectural projects, the price is definitely a major drawback.

My Most-Used Software

4,0 vor 2 Monaten Neu

Kommentare: I have used Revit in every professional environment that I have been in so far.

Vorteile:

Almost everyone in the design/build industry uses Revit so there's a level of consistency; it's relatively easy to self-teach and makes construction documents easy and convenient to develop all at once. The 2D/3D relationship makes it much more useful than AutoCAD in a lot of ways.

Nachteile:

A lot of the "automatic" functions are set in their ways and require lengthy workarounds.

a must for construction documents

5,0 letzten Monat Neu

Vorteile:

I have been always using AutoCAD for my construction document drawings. I still use CAD but Revit makes it easier because I get to see my drawings in 3D instantly which helps to understand space better.

Nachteile:

Revit is definitely for CD phase, not for the schematic design phases where you try different design options. Unless you have your construction method all figured out, Revit might not be for quick design studies.

Fundamental Tool of the Trade

5,0 vor 6 Tagen Neu

Vorteile:

This is a classic software that has been deeply entrenched in our industry. For all significant projects, all disciplines and consultants come together in creating Revit models and drawings with collaboration using Civil 3D as well. We recently created a VR model of a LRT station based on Revit exports tying in architecture, structural, electrical, mechanical etc. It is basically a mandatory tool of the trade.

Nachteile:

When exporting for use in C3D is not as straightforward as it should be. Geographic (GCS) often doesn't line up. Since C3D mainly uses meters, Revit often defaults to mm and a rotated ucs leading to difficulties in aligning drawings in C3D and CAD.

Has a ways to go for specific industries (curtain wall), pretty great otherwise

4,0 letzten Monat Neu

Kommentare: Overall it's a pretty great tool, the biggest hurdle for me was when I stopped trying to make it work like Autocad or Inventor. It takes time to learn the way Revit thinks, which is not always intuitive unless you're just throwing up basic walls with windows and doors and a standard roof. I hope they will advance the curtain wall tool in future releases to better accommodate the facade industry.

Vorteile:

It's industry standard. I work on major commercial architecture projects and I have yet to have someone send me an Archicad file to reference. Mastering the basics is fairly intuitive and you can throw up a simple building pretty quickly.

Nachteile:

It's not very intuitive when you need to get into the weeds with details and customization. I'm in the curtain wall industry and while the curtain wall tool is very powerful, it lacks a lot of fine control and you have to do a lot of workarounds to try to do anything more than an extremely basic curtain wall or storefront. There is no provision for caulk joints between the curtain wall or storefront framing and surrounding conditions at the perimeter without very clunky workarounds. Architects don't care about that until way down the line when their doors can't be quite as wide/tall as they wanted and lead times go up for non-standard door sizes because their RO's didn't account for a perimeter joint.

Revit review

4,0 vor 7 Monaten

Kommentare: My experience has been very good, it is a modern BIM authoring software and deploying this across our organization has been reasonably easy with training. Once users start using it they do not want to go back to 2D ways of working.

Vorteile:

This BIM authoring software works very well against modern AEC information production and management. The software benefits from many plugins and integrations to help with this as well. Dynamo integration is very helpful to automate and speed up information production and management.

Nachteile:

Very expensive and the subscription model means that each year prices increase by around 5%. Autodesk has also been criticized for not developing the software adequately, especially in light of the price increases. Once you are in the software it is hard to move away.

Revit is great!

5,0 vor 8 Monaten

Kommentare: Good and bad. Good in that after two weeks of using Revit I did NOT want to use AutoCAD ever again. Bad in that getting our users to make the switch has taken time and resources. Figure on about 1-2 years to fully move from AutoCAD to Revit. The move is worth it, though.

Vorteile:

The term "One source of truth" describes Revit well. You can produce hundreds of drawings from one 3D model. Change any drawing or the model and every drawing reflects that change. In AutoCAD, you would have to open up several drawings to make those changes. Revit, you change something in one place and you're done. Likewise we love the database Revit is. You can include any amount of information in your model that you want and present that information in schedules.

Nachteile:

Moving from AutoCAD to Revit can be difficult and frustrating for many people. Revit is a very complex software and takes a while to learn but it is well worth the pain. Some of the best benefits like changing something in one spot can also be a curse because it may have unintended consequences in other views, but that's just something you get used to and learn to resolve.

Kommentare: I have used Revit for 3+ years and I have loved it. I have designed and built many projects in it. I have built many .rvt files using AutoCAD and then imported it into Revit to build a detailed model. Then I have used the same model for energy analysis using add ons. You can perform life cycle cost analysis, lighting analysis, solar analysis and energy analysis using Revit. all you need to know is the science behind using the technique.

Vorteile:

Revit is one of the most versatile building design and modeling software. It can literally design any kind of building infrastructure with the same precision as an architect does. Revit is the foundational software for Building Information Modelling. It provides us features like parametric modeling and smart object import. It basically reduces all the repetitive drafting work in building design. It provides features and a basis for Performance analysis.

Nachteile:

When it comes to creating a complex geometrical model or any model with lots of curves, Revit handling becomes difficult. Using Revit for complex shape modeling is difficult. Revit does not support high end, performance analysis tools. lt has its own add ons which do not give accurate and precise results. You need to export the model to any other software and perform the energy analysis.

Powerful, but space consuming

4,0 vor 2 Jahren

Kommentare: Overall is definitely positive. Program allows students to learn basics (and more) of architectural design. Some more expansive tutorials would be nice as only beginner workflow has really proven useful for students.

Vorteile:

It is very easy for beginning users to become quickly proficient by following tutorials. The software is also very robust. Students can design, furnish and create renderings/walkthroughs all within the same program. They can also import any components not included in the software from a number of support pages as well as some vendors who have created .rvt files of their products that allow it to be put into the space digitally with all correct measurements.

Nachteile:

Very robust, but takes up so much disk space it sometimes freezes computer before even opening. A LT version may be beneficial, but an entirely online version, even if it's a "light" version, would be preferred. Students aren't using all available features so it would be nice if the education version took less space, so students could have access on computers other than the one lab with enough computing power to run the software.

Solid software

Kommentare: We have 6 licenses, a mix o Revit LT and Revit. With Revit we are able to save time by creating a 3d models along with flat drawings. Basic views (in Revit LT) with reliastic materials are ok to present to our clients. In complete Revit (sans LT) you can do realistic renderings. Thats a great advantage to be able to use one software instead of 3.

Vorteile:

Quite intuititive. A lot of options to create ready to use templates. Realistic views of ongoing project. If something is missing you can create it with ease. Basic programing haleps to create parametric obejcts.

Nachteile:

Requires company to create its own libraries of object. Built in libraries are beyond horrible. Fine tuning takes time. Pesky errors (dimension line lost reference and it will not tell which)

An excellent tool if you are willing to invest the time.

5,0 vor 2 Jahren

Kommentare: I've been using Revit Architecture since (I believe) 6.0 version I used as a student. I was actually recruited because of its knowledge which was relatively scarce in 2011. It a great BIM (building information model) software that can accomplish almost any design task. What sets it apart from say Archicad is that the built in content is scarce but the built in tools will let you design all the missing components. You might need a specific type of window, title block or dimension line - all of which can be adjusted so it fits your needs. The problem is that it takes a lot of time to develop this design environment and in the end you are totally invested and cannot switch. Still, once you get going it is great.
Designing is very quick. Most options are easily visible and intuitive. The tutorials as I remember where great - you get to built a house from scratch and learn many tools. HVAC, electrical and Construction designers can do a model in Revit as well and combine with the architect. Faults in model can be spotted early.
We have been using Revit Architecture for 10 years now and do not think about switching. Partly because the BIM competition is still weak and partly because now we have invested so much time that it would be hard to recreate all this experience again. But it is not a bad thing - our projects look good and designing is smooth. I can recommend Revit Architecture with a clear conscience though be ready to spend time creating your business-specific content.

Vorteile:

- Easy to learn (hard to master). And intuitive for the most part. - Family editor offer a basic programming syntax so you can design almost anything - many 1st and 3rd party addons to tailor the software - built in 3d views are basic but with ambient shadows and realistic material view they can be shown to the client as a in-progress model. Very convenient to have the possibility. Even in Revit LT (lite, addonless) - Updated every year. Often minor tweaks

Nachteile:

- Revit LT lacks (among other more important features) a tool to modify shape of a floor. Designing a 3d flat roof is almost impossible and your best bet is to draw flat lines (which defeats the purpose of BIM model) - certain families and certain corrections in the model will cause a disappearance of spot dimensions or regular dimensions. THe built-in error window will display something like "43 error" but you will never be able to locate all deleted annotations. - lack of quality content built in the software. You can create all the families (objects in model) by yourself but it takes time. So it becomes necessary that you have a designated person drawing specific families used in your company or you can depend on 3rd parties for that. The families that come with Revit are basic and often need adjustment -material schedules are not to be dependent upon. A single wall will have the same area of material that is both inside and outside but that is minor. If a wall is cut or joined with another object the volume will be double counted. At the same time any concrete elements in the wall will not be substracted from the wall material volume. Its best to avoid said schedules. - the tools for site planing are basic and often insufficient. A simple road on a slope can be a problem (unless you divide the plane into triangles) - No autosave function and "model hasn't been saved in a while" prompts. The save can take a couple of seconds sometimes but automatic would be better

The key to get into 3D modeling era.

4,0 vor 3 Jahren

Kommentare: Overall I hightly recommend to purchase revit if u are in construction business. This software is cost effective and less time consuming interms of creating 3d models. This is a visually appealing software to work with.

Vorteile:

My construction firm uses revit as a standard software for 3d modeling and interior designing for more than 2 years. Our company strongly believe in keeping up with the latest technology as a strategy to stay solid in this competitive business. For that revit itself has evolved alot during this two years. I feel rivit is a must know software for any architect, civil engineer or an interior designer. The best part using revit is u can give attention to each and every element individually with more care which will make a huge difference inthe final output. The inbuilt library feature is large and requires some time to master in it.this product can be integrated with Autodesk recap,3D max, sketchup,Autodesk cloud..etc. from the root level of a design to validating a design revit can be used without a question with industry standards.above all revit not only satisfies the user but also the client .

Nachteile:

Honestly revit has nothing much to worry as a basic 3d modeling software, but it of course requires some time to master but at the end of the day its worthy. And also it demands a computer with high functioning capability. And also I have noticed that we can not input any pdf formets into it. And there is no reterograde compatibility since the older version had no cloud feature. As my last point revit predominantly focuses on structural elements only I wish if this improves further to help the designers as well.

Start in the field of 3D modelling and projects of larger scale and complexity.

5,0 letztes Jahr

Kommentare: It's a great software, and it's one of the programs I've used and still use the most in architecture. It has everything you need for the realisation of a project and you just come to love it the more you learn and use it. If you get to use it enough you will start to feel that you don't need any other software to work with, but you should always keep in mind that there are complementary programs that will make the use of the program even easier and you shouldn't close yourself to the idea that it is bad to make use of them even if Revit can do it. In general it is a program that is constantly updated and really adapts to the evolution of architecture and the complexity of it; and it plans to continue to do so for many years to come.

Vorteile:

Both its platform, as well as tools and the extensive work capacity that can be performed on it, as well as the comfort and ease of navigating a project from zero to the completion of final renders. From 2D plans to 3D modelling in all aspects, it is simply an amazing tool. As well as its extreme compatibility with other software not only from the Autodesk family, makes it one of the best programs for architecture and other areas.

Nachteile:

Although it is "easy" to use, it can take you a lot of time to get used to it, it is one of the programmes that sometimes I still have to look for tutorials on how to use its tools even if I have been using it for all the years of my degree and part of my working life. Once you understand the basics it becomes common to say that it is "easy" to use, but it does take a great deal of time and patience not to get lost or make common mistakes that may or may not be fixable.

The best guarantee that the work will be executed on time without design mistakes

5,0 vor 4 Monaten

Kommentare: It enabled us to discover the final product more clearly before starting implementation, which reduced the overlap of systems in general, and thus saved a lot of time, effort and money that were previously wasted as a result of design errors and repeat business, and this also contributed to raising the quality of work significantly.

Vorteile:

Revit is the best application for creating 3D models and for producing VR ready presentations. I like its integration with AutoCAD so that we can export plans and models from AutoCAD and transfer them to Revit easily. For designers, being able to draw smoothly and being able to see a temporary dimension around an object is very useful. BIM capabilities provided by Revit allow both designers and customers to see the final product before it is built, and its multiple features, make us rely on it in the field of construction in particular, and make it a basis for data at all stages of design and implementation, as it enables us to easily coordinate our services with other deals as well as study the implications provides service guidance on the structure and architectural considerations that must be made with our mechanical and plumbing designs. It is an ideal solution to prevent interference between systems and save time and effort.

Nachteile:

The main problem lies in the prices of licenses, which makes them limited in use and is only owned by large companies. Also, the ideal use requires extensive training to master the skills.

The only way to design complicated projects collaboratively

5,0 letztes Jahr

Kommentare: Overall it is an irreplaceable component of my daily job but can sometimes be a pain to figure out a workaround in order to model what I have designed in another program

Vorteile:

The ability to link models through bim360 and work on a central model with a team, is revolutionary for our industry. Of course, being able to draw and model at the same time is also so important in delivering a project on time and being able to document changes after construction is also a must. I am always surprised when I meet people who are still working with cad but I suppose on a small project revit may not make sense.

Nachteile:

The ability to design curves and angles, and model other complicated features, really needs to be vastly improved. Revit is cutting edge in so many ways but doesn’t lend itself to designing cutting edge designs. Things like a skylight or a monumental stair and railing should not be so difficult to model and draw when they are so easy to do so in a dozen other programs.

Great software for great ideas

Kommentare: Revit speed the drawing process to an 80%. I will recommend to use Revit to architectural and engineering firms.

Vorteile:

This software is easy to use, specially if you come from the AutoCAD background. I like the fact that I am working tri-dimensionally and see esthetics of my projects almost immediately. Also, Revit has a huge library with parametric components that I can access. Another cool thing is that Revit can be use to measure the environmental impact of my models if my clients are interested.

Nachteile:

In order to create nice quality renderings, I need to use other software (s) in combination with Revit because using Revit by itself will give me clunky images with a "computer" look, that as an project manager, I don't think my clients will enjoy.

Best BIM Product

Kommentare: I have been using Revit since last 3 years for modeling MEP services, producing shop drawings and quality take off.
I use Revit to create a model which is used for clash coordination review in Navisworks.
Revit saves lots of time in compare with other software as has many time saving and automation features.

Vorteile:

It is the best drafting and 3D modeling software that I have used so far which have great features. The best part is that it is a multi user worksharing software by the help of which your whole team can work on a single project. You just need to save the file as central file. You can make a template and save it and use it anytime when your start a protect so that you not need to set the project standards like text font, leaders, dimensions style, layout etc each time. Just you can open the template and start working. Last but not the list, revit allows you to create different parameter for the object that helps to add necessary information of the object. The information provided can be extracted by help of scheduling. I will highly recommend to start practicing this software as it is going to be the future of AEC industry.

Nachteile:

The only cons I have got about Revit is the it uses a lot of memory to run smoothly. One can only use Revit in effectively and smoothly if he/she have high configuration systems.

Large Learning Curve But Worth It

4,0 letztes Jahr

Kommentare: If you're an aspiring firm who's growing and taking on more than they have in the past, this is a great software to look into. Be warned, it will be a higher initial investment, since you will likely want to add-on premade template packages alongside taking time to learn the software. However, once everyone has had time to get acquainted and workflow is setup, this is an amazing tool that can have your productivity soring.

Vorteile:

While being a smaller firm, we understand we could make do with software such as Sketchup since it's relatively cheaper and can absolutely get the job done. However, in our office's experience, the second you have more than 2 people in your office with more and more projects on your plate the more of a time and money sink it becomes having to keep track of coordinating all of your models. Revit, especially with BIM 360 cloud storage, is an amazing asset to have when it comes to collaboration and sheet creation. We also love to use Enscape with Revit to produce our marketing material.

Nachteile:

There is absolutely a learning curve that goes into taking on this program. Not only will you need time to get accustomed to speaking Revit's language and recognize its quirks, but you'll likely want to invest into premade templates and families since the defaults available on Revit aren't quite at a presentation standard. (Also, there's an example of the the language thing I mentioned; families can be anything from doors, fixtures, casework, etc.) Beyond the initial setup, there's still aspects of the UI that aren't exactly intuitive, but there have been improvements made over the years but it's still far from perfect.

Insightful design software

4,0 vor 11 Monaten

Kommentare: Considering the compatibility with other Autodesk applications and helpful features such as 2D and 3D drawing, BIM modeling, presentation tools this is a great application to use. But it comes with a larger price tag. Can be used for many purposes and currently, this is the industry standard for designing. Designing complex structures will be harder but considering advantages and disadvantages this is a good application to use.

Vorteile:

Another great solution from Autodesk. In Revit, we have the ability to draw, design, and model structures depending on our needs. With tools to draw in 2D and easily model it into 3D, Revit is the solution architectures and civil engineers have been looking for. And especially with modeling and presentation tools Revit is the whole package. This package can be effectively used for architectural, structural, HVAC, and MEP modeling. And with enhanced support from other Autodesk applications, Revit seems like the industry-standard design software.

Nachteile:

The main disadvantage is the higher price value for Revit. So middle and startup companies have to think twice before purchasing Revit. Also somewhat harder to create complex models. And for a beginner, this would be harder to learn and use.

Future is here

5,0 vor 3 Jahren

Kommentare: BIM will certainly change the construction industry in ways we cannot fully appreciate yet. Revit is of the best solutions that are pushing this revolution forward.

Vorteile:

- Game-changing and full-featured building BIM design software (Building Information Modeling) - Simplified the design process beyond belief from the days of AutoCAD - Quantity take-offs are now byproducts of the building model, not a separate business process. - With BIM (Not only Revit) the plans, sections and quantity take-offs are all dynamically related. Any change to one of them is immediately reflected on the others - Works well for Architectural, Structural, HVAC, and MEP modeling. - Easy to use yet very capable. - Seamless integration with other Autodesk solutions (NavisWorsk, Robot .. etc.) - Plenty of training resources online.

Nachteile:

- The price is too steep for companies in developing countries especially since it uses an annual subscription for each user.
