5 years of extensive and "joyful" experience with Geotab. Resource material galore & user friendly!

Kommentare: Currently, we are looking into the ability to locate a driver by employee ID when they go "off duty "in HOS.
Previously, in 2021, the Geotab customer service representative who oversees the company account conducted an onsite training/refresher with the DOT team at which time the DOT manager inquired about a way to separate light duty vehicles from regulated tractors this was a time-consuming stressor. The inquiry was addressed and resolved that same day! Huge time and money saver for the company! Geotab has stellar customer service from the initial inquiry, the resolution and always a follow up for any feedback the customer may want to provide. In person, a phone call , or an email ..Geotab will take great care of you .

Vorteile:

The plethora of resources that Geotab offers are outstanding! Geotab resources include YouTube (check out Wild Card Wednesdays, subscribe to their blog, their online community, newsletters, webinars, how-to videos and more! The resources are what I like and admire most.

Nachteile:

Honestly, I cannot state that I have any cons. I suppose I can admit that it takes a minute to adjust when my interface changes. Human nature, not a software con.

Gps review

Kommentare: Overall experience is good we use this everyday to track and maintain 60 plus vehicles

Vorteile:

Able to track fleet and also see engine faults

Nachteile:

False engine light alerts in return cause more work ony end to make sure driver's are not abusing are equipment

Geotab has fallen behind their competition

Kommentare: I felt like I was working with an out of date software.

Vorteile:

GPS tracking was accurate and but without camera capabilities at the time, it felt very limited.

Nachteile:

The customer UI was atrocious, and the entire software felt needlessly bulky.

I am overall satisfied with geotab features

Kommentare: Geotab is a great system, even if it has some limitations, but overall it has most of the features that most people wanted.

Vorteile:

It gives an update on vehicles location and their driver, who is sleeping and who is driving, plus it gives an api in almost all programing language to access it from our system.

Nachteile:

It doesn't give the total miles of each vehicle in a specific date range directly, what it does is it gives all the records of the odometer reading since the device is installed, and we have to calculate manually by subtracting the last reading to the first reading in a specific date range. and it is too slow to load if the date range is high and also it doesn't give option to search with more than one vehicle.

Vorteile:

Solid infrastructure and vision for the future, that allow innovation

Nachteile:

Besides the company has huge experience and capabilities, it is not easy to learn from solid success cases. It looks like when we face new challenges, these are new challenges for Geotab too. However, sometimes someone at other latitudes already found a solution.

Great fleet management software

Kommentare: It doers the job well. We use it mostly for fleet location alone at this point, but I can see value in the other features it offers and look forward to implementing them,

Vorteile:

Relatively simple to use and has tons of features. Many of those features we don't use yet, but we are excited to roll them out in the future. Integrates with our Outage Management software.

Nachteile:

Sometimes changes to filtering doesn't seem to take effect until you do a shift-refresh of the web page. Some of the administration screens could benefit from a makeover to make hem more usable.

Kommentare: The biggest issues before was having a reliable service provider that gives top of the line data. A near 0% failure rate on hardware with consistent communication on updates has been a gem in the Fleet Management industry.

Vorteile:

The features that stand out are- OBD connected vehcile data, collision reconstruction & the g sensor for driver behaviour insights.It gives businesses real data that are important to making insightful fleet actions

Nachteile:

The biggest issue may be the wait time for the product development team to implement any feature requests. While it's understood it has to be evaluated and seen feasible for all users Some requests take long.For example: Adding more currencies to represent the LATAM & Caribbean Regions.

Knowing where your trucks are at all times

Kommentare: I was using gps trackers on our drivers phones and realized they were turning them off making up reasons why they were not working but after we started putting the trackers on the trucks themselves I feel very confident we get our monies worth out of our drivers everyday .

Vorteile:

We love the live GPS tracking system with all the tools that comes with that makes it hard for drivers to go off course and waste time and gas .

Nachteile:

I have not found anything I dont like we are a fairly small company and dont need all the management tools but I can see how they could help in larger companies with many trucks on the road .

It is not possible now to choose what constitutes as a stop

A Fan from the Beginning

Kommentare: I have been utilizing geotab since 2014, I have always had great things to say and excited to see what new and improved items they have in store for the product.

Vorteile:

I love the ability to see where our equipment is real time. Someone broke into our yard and I was able to provide real time helpful "when did it happen" information to the police thanks to the "show trip option".

Nachteile:

There are still some aspects of the software I don't like. Drivers if they get busy and forget to log in right away the driver prior is automatically thrown into ON DUTY. This creates log issues which are not fixed instantly due to it being a "cloud" based. I also do wish they would make the "show trip" option more easy to read for drivers with multiple stops.

Kommentare: Very good from first call and through onboarding. Customer service has been responsive and helpful.

Vorteile:

The ability to quickly know if one of our people is in a hazardous situation so we can send help. It also integrates with another platform (JESI) to give us even better visibility and safety for employees who are travelling for work.

Nachteile:

Difficult to answer, we haven't found any major problems with the product yet. One shortfall is that we don't have a good solution yet for our people who are hiring a vehicle for a single journey - there's a risk they'll plug the GeoTab unit in but forget to take it out at the end of their journey.

Great Support

Vorteile:

I absolutely love the support we get from our local representatives like [SENSITIVE CONTENT] , [SENSITIVE CONTENT] . Any issue that arises is always resolved in a matter of hours or days. Thank you for your hard work.

Nachteile:

False vehicle idle reports. Example, vehicle shows that it idled for a minute at 3 am on a Saturday. I get an email and immediately think the truck is getting stolen.

Great asset for what we do!

Vorteile:

Easy access and great reporting for our team.

Nachteile:

Sometimes speeding reports show assets in an area that could not be doing that speed.

Quick Implementation/No Contract

Kommentare: If you are looking for a quick and easy ELD with no commitment Geotab is your huckleberry. If you want a pretty highly captivating platform that will engage drivers and staff no so much. It menu based not icon based which is hard for users in this ultra clicky world.

Vorteile:

No contract!!! Hardware is inexpensive and implementation is quick. And no commitment. It’s cheap enough you can keep a couple extra on hand just in case. Which is nice.

Nachteile:

It’s not as user friendly as other platforms. It gets the job done but has a bear bones feel. There is a lot of functionality but you have to dig. If you aren’t a big company you don’t get your own customer rep. So you just leave a message and wait for the sales rep to call back. Ours was super responsive but it would all depend on his work load.

GPS software

Kommentare: We have been satisfied with GeoTab, but I am not sure that we would purchase again, if the need arises. We have over 70 vehicles on the product. The mbile app has been very helpful for our mechanics and dispatchers when they are out of the office. It does what we need it to do, but I think it could be more user friendly.

Vorteile:

The product does what it is supposed to do--no more and no less. The customer service is OK. It does get a little confusing for our use because we have this synced with our Routing and Planning software. The reporting is pretty powerful and most importantly spot on accurate. The mobile app is good.

Nachteile:

The best way to describe the reporting is that it is a perishable skill with this software. We have always been able to get what we needed--but if you don't use it on a regular basis, it is difficult to figure out how to manipulate the data that you need. I don't know that I would call the product user friendly as compared to others that I have seen.

Great!

Vorteile:

Easy to set up, easy to use (very intuitive), well organized and simple to pull up a user or unit number.

Nachteile:

Doesn't travel "with" the vehicle, so we are refreshing often to see a driver's ETA. Sometimes need to click a few times to ensure just that one unit is selected.

Great product. Has saved us a lot of trouble

Vorteile:

The ease of use and that we can see where our vehicles are at anytime. Great for tracking maintenance for your vehicle.

Nachteile:

Not 100% accurate. Does not always show catch the actual road speed. I think it needs updating with actual road speeds.
