Highly Impressive Software. Huge Time Saver.

I use a prefix of "::", followed by the name of the emoji. This quickly inserts the emoji without me needing to look it up online on a copy/paste site. URLs
I use a prefix of "//" followed by a three-letter abbreviation for a website. Then I give myself a few options in a dropdown of which page I want to visit. For example, "//esc" is for my website, escapecreative.com. There are a few WordPress admin pages I visit regularly, to check reports, sales, customers, write blog posts, etc. I type the snippet, hit the down arrow to go through the page options, then hit ENTER, and it automatically enters the URL in the browser, and navigates there. I've created a handful of snippets that output common code I use. I'm a WordPress developer, so I'm constantly writing code. I've setup prefixes for each language. For example, "html.form" outputs the general form markup with all the common form fields. "css.animation" outputs the animation keyframes. EMAIL TEMPLATES
I also use it for support. I have a few standard email responses I send. With TextExpander, I can open a template, type in a few 'fill in the blank' fields to customize it, and then insert the customized version. Super efficient, while still being very personable.

Vorteile:

Bottom Line: It saves me A TON of time during the work day. Snippets are easy to create. They're also easy to duplicate so you can mass produce them. And, they're easy to delete, so I actually create quite a few "one-off" snippets with common words/phrases for a current project I'm working on. Snippets can be simple or complex. A "::smile" can output a smile emoji. Or you can create a "//url" that gives you a dropdown of the 5 most common pages you visit on a particular site. Choose the page you want. And have the ENTER key automatically pressed by TextExpander when the snippet runs. The whole app runs smoothly, in the background. On a Mac, you can access it from the dock, the menu bar or hide it completely (but still use it). You can also quickly enable/disable it (like I did for this review so I could include example snippets that I use... without them being expanded ;-)

Nachteile:

My only gripe thus far is that they don't have an Android app. I'd love to use this on my phone, because typing on a phone is even more time consuming than on a computer. But the Mac app itself... I honestly can't think of a single downside.

TextExpander - Time saved is money saved

Kommentare: TextExpander is worth it to me and my team (and it will be to you) if you spend a lot of time typing on a computer and often type the same thing repeatedly. If your time is valuable, then it easily pays for itself with the time it saves.

Vorteile:

TextExpander works practically anywhere you enter text. It saves a lot of time when you have to type out the same/similar things in your job. There are many creative uses for it. For example, I use the snippet .d to type today's date. So I don't have to write out the date manually. This is just one example, but think of the time you save if you get a whole team of employees to use TextExpander to automate repetitive text. It will save you time if you integrate it into your workflow It's easy to set up, understand, and add new snippets.

Nachteile:

Nothing, really. It does exactly what I want it to - it's so simple that I haven't found any bugs or anything.

Errrors every day

Kommentare: This would be great if the application worked more consistently but I have errors everyday where all my work gets erased. Its killing my job performance because I rely so much on this application

Vorteile:

I like the application when it works but this is rare.

Nachteile:

The fact that it errors almost everyday. All my work gets erased and I have to restart! I have lost so much time because of this and this happens multiple times a day! Constant errors make this application useless, there is better options out there

Best investment

Kommentare: 12/10 would recommend! This is truly the best tool and investment. Yes, while some specific softwares have shortcuts, snippets, macro, or templates built into the their tool already for example: Confluence, Kustomer, or Zendesk, the great thing about TextExpander is the ability to use it for text box in any application.

Vorteile:

LOVE textexpander. It is easily one of my favorite tools amongst all of the software we used. For Operations, we often retype a lot of the same phrases when responded to customers. This tool has saved our entire team so much time. My favorite feature is that you can create personal expanders or expanders for the entire team to access.

Nachteile:

Not sure if it was an Admin permissions issue, but for a while I could not create the text expanders directly in the app. Luckily, you can see sign into their online website and I was still able to make new personal text expanders that way.

TextExpander saves lots of time and eases the mundane nature of repetitive tasks

Kommentare: So far TextExpander has changed they way I work, and has helped me to increase my productivity by saving me hours of typing time.

Vorteile:

I love the fact that I no longer have to type out long sentences that I use to describe tasks daily. It's a lifesaver when making frequent time entries or drafting similar documents. I also love that I can create personal snippets that are just for my use outside of the snippets shared by the team.

Nachteile:

I think the interface could be a bit more modern but that doesn't affect usage at all. its very easy to use and you hardly ever have to open the window once you have it set up.

Better options for multiple answers, easier formatting

HUGE time and sanity saver

Vorteile:

I have dozens of text shortcuts I use on a daily and weekly basis. Everything from long URLs, to common answers to customers, to my brand hex code colors, to specific HTML code I use regularly. It's saved me literally dozens of hours fumbling to find the same answers to questions. SO easy to use. Another nice feature is the syncing between the Mac and iPhone. I'm able to access snippets on my iPhone when replying to clients on the go.

Nachteile:

It's well-built, can't think of a single thing that's missing. They even include the stats of how many times a snippet is used and how much time saved.

Great for communications and automatization

Kommentare: I've used it on a daily basis for three years in order to reach interaction's limited time.

Vorteile:

If your daily comms are automatization-related, this tool will help you improving them.

Nachteile:

May have some bugs and difficulties at first.

Never knew I needed tis until NOW

Kommentare: Text Expander has alleviated the anxiety I have about typing rapidly and accurately. It is so helpful in a customer service job where typing is necessary and needing to be basically immediate.

Vorteile:

I truly had never heard about TextExpander until I started a job where I communicate over chat with customers. It saves so much time, it helps you be the most efficient that you can be. When you click your 3 letters you have saved for a response it truly saves so much time and headache from typing the same response over and over again. My response time to my customers was beyond outstanding! It truly helps me since I am not a perfect, speedy typist and has taken the anxiety out of quickly responding.

Nachteile:

I am unsure if it is because of the new software that I use that this extension is not compatible with (unless its the paid version) but with my new CRM software this extension doesn't work unless I have bought the paid version of it. My company has just switched over to this new CRM software but has yet to pay for TextExpander for us. So if the free version worked with my new CRM software then I would have no cons. This also probably has nothing to do with Text Expander and most likely the new software we use.

TextExpander saves me hours every week

Kommentare: I use it for my own work and my clients' work. It's perfect for responding to emails and even to add words and phrases you type all the time such as names and addresses.

Vorteile:

TextExpander saves me hours every week! It's so easy to set up and use. I can use it on all my devices. It even has groups of shortcuts set up that you can add, such as French language, etc. It costs so little - the return on investment is amazing.

Nachteile:

I had a glitch once when one of my shortcuts wouldn't fire, but no other problems or complaints at all.

Makes templating easy across multiple platforms

Vorteile:

I love how I can use it for email, texting, and our website's chatbot. They're also super easy to share with teammates and customize. Super easy to get set up, and the support is always very responsive.

Nachteile:

Had a couple hickups with the UI not being the most user friendly, but was able to find docs / reach their support team easily and quickly.

TextExpander saved me HOURS

Shortcuts are easy to use and very customizable. Loved the suggestion features and time saved tracking features.

No much really, it did a very good job at what I needed to do.

We have saved hours upon hours of work

Kommentare: Overall, the TextExpander is an indispensable resource for us - without it, our teams would run at a snail's pace. This allows us to answer queries in seconds with just a few quick keystrokes. While there are definitely tons of opportunities for improvement - I don't see us getting rid of this any time soon.

Vorteile:

What's not to love?! We have saved over 1000 shortcuts for so many of our customer related inquiries, product knowledge, work flow processes, etc. It really does cut down on so much time. I mainly used this in my previous role, but even in my new one I'm still saving hours each week (I get the report, so I know!).

Nachteile:

It does get buggy every now and then. Right now, for example, I'm unable to edit/create shortcuts within the app and have to actually go to the website to do so. I also wish there was a better sorting feature. If I want to move 20 shortcuts to a new folder, it's a very manual process.

Affordable Timesaver

TextExpander has saved our team so much time (and reduced much frustration)! We are a salon & spa that is constantly messaging with customers to answer common queries, and TextExpander has made this process so much simpler. It is affordable, user-friendly and time saving. It is perfect for companies who are looking to standardize their verbiage when they have a team of several people, or for individuals who are looking for simple ways to increase their productivity.

Nachteile:

The TextExpander app itself, where users add new snippets (shortcuts), is not the most user-friendly. It can be complicated to know how and where to add and modify snippets. TextExpander also pops up with suggestions of snippets to create, based on your commonly typed phrases, which are sometimes useful but can often be annoying.

How did I ever live without this?

Kommentare: The whole concept was foreign to me when I first started using it, but after a short while, it becomes a routine, and then a few months later -- you will never, ever, ever be without it again for the rest of your professional life. If you find yourself typing things over and over again, you must have this app. It is simply awesome!!!

Vorteile:

This software makes me super productive and saves me SO. MUCH. TIME. I love it and I love showing people how it works -- it blows their mind that you can produce 500 words of a pre-written response by typing a tiny code! This is the best kept secret out there for productivity.

Nachteile:

There isn't a lot I don't like about this software! The only bad thing happened when I subscribed to some user groups and received weird messages. I just unsubscribed and they were gone.

Herramienta de escritura que te ayuda ahorrar tiempo

Es una herramienta muy buena que descubrí hace tiempo, que te permite ahorrar mucho tiempo en la escritura. Indicándola una serie de shortcodes, automáticamente la herramienta te escribe el párrafo predefinido que le hayas indicado, es fantástica para situaciones en las que tienes que contestar lo mismo de manera reiterada. Llevo tiempo usándola y es muy recomendable ahorras mucho tiempo.

Nachteile:

Es fantástica no hay nada negativo para mi de esta herramienta

An essential app for writers and editors

Kommentare: Love it. It’s an essential part of my daily workflow.

Vorteile:

This app saves me so much time in generating content so I don’t have to constantly type the same things over and over. In fact, the app enables me to create content once and use it endlessly in different ways. It’s a huge time-saver!

Nachteile:

Sometimes, snippets don’t seamlessly work from one platform to another. Sometimes, the snippets produce weird results depending on the app I’m using at the time. While I like it’s use of AppleScript to create executable actions, I wish more had been focused on how to customize and call up different snippets in various contexts.

Time Saver and Efficiency Booster

Kommentare: I work with several projects that require a large amount of text to be entered, mostly all the same, and TextExpander has created a great solution with their snippets and the ability to customize what's sent out. In an effort to sound less robotic, we're able to add different salutations and provide contextual information in our shortcuts, while saving time and increasing efficiency. The product was so successful in my launch that it has been adopted or considered for review with other departments and projects.

Vorteile:

Easy to create snippets, easy to export (and import), great rate for personal and business uses, easy to administer and manage

Nachteile:

Receiving a response from their support team can sometimes take a while.

TextExpander Teams

Vorteile:

I really like how teams allows us to share snippets with the team. It saves a tremendous amount of time when you take redundant text you type frequently and make it happen in the blink of an eye. The ability to create small forms and fields for yourself is also tremendously beneficial.

Nachteile:

This isn't really a reflection on the company or the software. But you have to get yourself into the mindset of recognizing when there are repetitive bits of text you are typing and how you could leverage this tool otherwise its value is dubious. It is what you make it essentially.

Keeping good notes with concise/accurate short cuts that are easily remembered, used and amended

Kommentare: It is useful yet when short cuts are used, it also makes my life difficult when writing or talking to someone,

Vorteile:

It makes my job easier and faster. In short, I am more productive

Nachteile:

When I typed some information using the short cut, it automatically gives the long sentence, which I am not supposed to write or use because I am writing an e-mail, comments or doing another job.

Game changer

Kommentare: I know that this is the tool that I will be taking anywhere I go in the future. Definitely recommend to try it out. It takes 2 minutes to just learn the basics of creating snippets and this is why it also a very good tool. Low effort training new colleagues and gives high results in productivity.

Vorteile:

As working in Customer Care having a tool like TextExpander is crucial. It extremely improves agents response times and also make you overall much more efficient. I use textexpander for work and for personal use as well. This is a tool that anyone who uses a computer to work would benefit from. I have expanded over 17500 snippets. I have over 30+ hours time saved by just writing out snippets like email address, URL addresses, basic text like "Best regards,*name*" etc.

Nachteile:

The UI really does need to get an update. The product itself looks very basic in UI and design and has not changed for over 4+ years, however, it's a product that you do not really look at.

Time saver, but gets bogged down sometimes

Vorteile:

I love that you can have your own personal text expanders, and separate groups. It's scaled very well as our headcount has grown from 300 to 900 in the last 2 years. I use it all day, saves time and your fingers. Works well across websites, gmail, and other software.

Nachteile:

Sometimes it stops working and when I enter the abbreviation, it pastes the last thing in my clipboard instead of entering the phrase. Also, in gmail, the text expanded phrase can appear as a dark purple text instead of black, but this is fixed if you highlight and select "remove formatting" in gmail.

TextExpander for Productivity

Kommentare: I started working with an author, who is a devotee to TextExpander. After using this product for his items, I realized just how essential it is for my other clients. It is high on my list of "suggested applications", which I submit to my clients upon onboarding.

Vorteile:

For those who type the same blurbs on a daily basis. Or have a boilerplate document they copy and paste from: This is about the most essential software you can use. All you have to do is create a text snippet and use your set code to auto-pop your words into an email, report, document, etc.

Nachteile:

More of a caution than a con: If you are using this software across devices, make sure that they are all within the same update. Otherwise, your snippets will not sync properly.

Could not work without this app

Actually, I can't think of a thing I don't like about TextExpander. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well.

Amazing software

Vorteile:

It a great software where you can type only couple of characters and the whole sentence is populated on the screen. Very helpful and time saving. You can always customize the characters that you want to use to populate the whole sentence.
