Kommentare: Nach über 30 Jahren Anwendung wieder ein Layoutprogramm, das auf der Höhe der Zeit ist, auch wenn manche Kinderkrankheit schnelle ausgemerzt werden könnte.

Vorteile:

• Die einfache Handhabung, mit sehr umfangreichen Möglichkeiten. • Präzise Typografie-Ein-mpassen • Einfaches Arbeiten mit Vektoren (speziell für Corporate Design Entwicklungsprozesse)

Nachteile:

Die schleppende Anpassung an neue Betriebssysteme und Umgebungen. (Quicklook unter Sequoia und "Benutzte Dokumente" in Verbindung mit NAS-Servern.)

In Betracht gezogene Alternativen: Adobe InDesign

Gründe für den Wechsel zu QuarkXPress: Da wir Quark seit langem nutzen. Zur großen Wechselzeit Mitte der 2000er Jahre waren wir von Kundenseite gebunden. Inzwischen kann QXP wieder mit ID mithalten.

Null Kundenservice, keine Rückmeldung, keine Lösung

Vorteile:

Es hat mir mal gefallen, mittlerweile schlechter Service und wenig Benutzerfreundlichkeit

Nachteile:

Ich möchte QXP 2021 (jawohl 2021!) installieren. Bei Eingabe des Validierungscodes wird mir gesagt, dass ich die max. Anzahl erreicht habe. Auf diesem Rechner läuft aber nur noch QXP 2020, was auch so bleiben soll. Zugang zur License Management Console wird verwehrt. Ein Login ist nicht möglich. Zwei Mails an den Support sind auch nach einer Woche unbeantwortet. Zum Glück habe ich noch Adobe ...

Es war einmal…

Kommentare: Es war einmal… so fangen in der Regel Märchen an. Vor vielen vielen Jahren… 25 um genau zu sein in der ich Qxpress nutze. Angefangen bei den nahezu allerersten Versionen. Hervorragend stabil, konkurrenzlos, extrem teuer damals. Aber den Preis wert. Und Heute? Der maximal schlechteste Kundensupport den ich man sich je vorstellen kann. Dabei können diese Leute wohl nicht mal recht was dafür. Wohlmeinende Menschen aus exotischen Ländern von denen bisher kein Einziger so recht verstand was ich möchte. Einfache Antworten auf einfache Fragen - selbst das scheint mittlerweile zu viel verlangt.

Vorteile:

Bis zur Version 10 super, das Beste was es gab auf dem Markt. Bis Version 2018 war es zumindest noch gut erträglich (mit etwas Hartnäckigkeit). Jetzt, QXPress 2020 und viele (wohl auch Unternehmensübertragungen) Jahre später… Es ist leider Zeit Adieu zu sagen. Schmerzlich aber meine Geduld hat ein Ende.

Nachteile:

Das Programm selbst ist nach wie vor - außergewöhnlich gut. Alles drumherum, vom Support, Kunden-Login, Manual… einfach so miserabel - damit kann man nicht vernünftig arbeiten. Man wünscht sich Quark 10.0 zurück.

Vorteile:

First, their customer support for this product is incredible. Hands down some of the best people working with this company, and knowledgable. There is also an online community behind this software that is wonderful and can usually get you where you want to go if you need help. Also the facebook group continues to grow and thrive and the company is pretty involved with keeping the quark world up to date on progress and resources. Ok the software is pretty wonderful and through the years we continue to choose Quark for book/media publishing over other products that we use more frequently day to day with other media because Quark just has always gotten the job done and done well. That still is the case for a couple specific purposes, like brochure and booklet printing, we use Quark for because most of the tools throughout the years have remained the same. And they make simple what other products cause hair-loss over. Quark not being a subscription based media creation software is the bee's knees!! And the ability and power of all the software can do for the price is pretty great!!

Nachteile:

Over the years, they have tried to do too much in too little of time to compete but they have failed short. In the past Quark was an incredible software and the value was through the roof, but sadly that is not the case anymore. Focusing on becoming a software for producing cross-platform media and new media has taken away from their bread and butter of being the go to software for book and print media publishing over the years. The tools available, advancements and attention to their original staples of print publishing have lacked. PDFs are an area serious attention needs to be given, without having to purchase or use 3rd party integrations. Yearly updates should not have to be purchased or at least discounted much more significantly, especially considering the incompatibility of working between different years of Quark. Saving to a previous version is a must, that I which would come back, without expensive 3rd party software.

Versatile Desktop Publishing Program

Kommentare: Overall, QuarkXPress is relatively easy to learn but does not offer the handholding of strictly user-oriented software. I've used Quark since the mid-90s when it was a DOS-based package, and we printed a 32-page monthly children's publication. Quark is a standard program for commercial use and has few competitors. I've used virtually every version since Quark's DOS days. I've published POD books up to 600 pages with Quark.

Vorteile:

Easy to create a print book that looks as professional as the ones from major publishing houses.

Nachteile:

When you do a File Save As, Quark continues to use the original file instead of switching to the new file you saved, as all other document processing software does. For example, assume you've created a "template" file that is the basic starting point of some common output. You do a File Save As to MyNewBook, but the focus remains on the Template. If you don't remember to open MyNewBook, your changes end up in the original Template file instead of MyNewBook. It's not a show-stopper, but it's annoying at times after realizing all of the changes are in the original starting file and not the one you created.

Quark for more than 25 years

Kommentare: Great! We've been using it for over 25 years...!

Vorteile:

Ease of use. They have to be careful not to make it too complex. No traditional layout and web design mixed together in one program. We only want Quark for print. (Advertisements, flyers, magazines, house styles etc. etc.)

Nachteile:

The high annual prices compared to comparable programs.

Quark is bittersweet but can’t compete with Indesign

Kommentare: I’ve used quarkxpress for over ten years, longer than any other single piece of software. I converted to indesign kicking and screaming because of how different the workflow was because I was so picky. If you’re just starting out, I’d suggest you look at indesign. If you’re picking up someone else’s work, you can almost everything indesign can do quark can do too.

Vorteile:

After Apple’s Pages application, it is the easiest and simplest major print design software out there that you can use fairly intuitively if you’ve used a computer graphics program before. Just watching some tutorials online you can easily edit other people’s work fairly easily without much training. The second best feature of quark is the powerful xtentions that exist out there on the market. Other programs had this too but quark was the first to do this. Xtentions really streamlined and automated a lot of repetitive design tasks like updating prices and phone numbers (xcatalog).

Nachteile:

It lacks full transparency gradients and doesn’t have adequate photo layering capabilities like opacities and layer modes. It also lacks a wysiwyg font menu so you can’t see they style of the font you’re using until you select it and enter some type. Quark is also a bit unstable at times. Prone to crashes.

QuarkXpress the Best

Kommentare: Great desktop designer tool that has always delivered for my graphics company.

Vorteile:

Having used QuarkXpress for over 30 years, it has always been my go to application. Have used on designs for many publications, stationery sets and numerous graphics projects! Easy to use and always gets results!

Nachteile:

Difficult to say but creating pdf’s were a problem but I think that has been resolved.

Old-timer in prepress industry with interactive make-up

Kommentare: In general I am satisfied. It works very stabile. Output - pdf output - is perfect for prepress, HTML5 site of publication is excellent and work as soon as you drop it on ftp server.

Vorteile:

If you work on book, or you need HTML5 or android/iPhone version of your publication, without additional costs, choose QuarkXPress. In one program you can do everything you need to satisfy your publishing needs. But, if you need more "artistic" look of your publication, Adobe and Affinity suites, even Corel, are better solutions.

Nachteile:

It is slow as slow as you hardisk, not your CPU or graphic card. QuarkXPress use too many time more hd than memory cache. Second "least" is price, and it cost too much, and there are no upgrade for 50% or more offs.

Warum QuarkXPress gewählt wurde: Indesign became too pricely, and I switch... after few years, Quark price politics are not good, and I switch again - to Affinity suite.

Gründe für den Wechsel zu QuarkXPress: Adobe was too pricely. Cores was too slow, and cannot handle documents with great number of pages, and we than choose QuarkXPress.

Why I Love QuarkXpress.

Kommentare: I have used QuarkXpress since sometime, in the 1990's where I ran a desktop publishing business, at that time I used it so much, I starting teaching Quark, Now that I am over 85 I found it very very useful for the many things I still do, there is nothing I can't do in QuarkXpress, it is such a wonderful program. I was able to help publish three hard cover books for a friend. Thank you QuarkXpress.

Vorteile:

That I was able to resolve all my issues, I found them very helpful, and your support service was supper great.

Nachteile:

After discussing my problem, I was told that their was a mistake with my subscription which would expire soon, I than asked to speak with a supervisor, after a discussion we were able to work it out.

best desktop publishing app

Kommentare: QuarkXPress is the best desktop publishing tool. Overall experience is very good as compared to others.

Vorteile:

QuarkXPress is the best tool for desktop publishing among all other available tools. Also it provides many more features like phouo editing. It is easy to use as compared to others.

Nachteile:

As of now I didn't find any issues in QuarkXpress

Good Program

Kommentare: I've been using QuarkXPress for 20 years. It's always been a user-friendly program and meets my needs.

Vorteile:

Easy to use for graphic design and layout.

The cost of the subscription is too much

Best layout designing software

I've used this product for years and love the ease of designing with it.

Kommentare: I can create my design projects just the way I want them to be because it offers many options and is easy to use.

Vorteile:

The many options it offers for layout, working with type and images. I love the Collect for Output, get's everything in one place. Resizing pages when needed, the gradations, the HTML options are great. I have found Quark much easier to use than InDesign.

Nachteile:

I'd have to say the cost, it's expensive for a stand-alone product. Because of the high price I am very slow to upgrade to newer version. Which makes for a bigger learning curve when I do upgrade.

I'd be lost without QuarkXPress

Kommentare: As a graphic designer, I have been using QuarkXPress since 1990. I used it exclusively for layout for decades until I had to learn InDesign for a few of my clients. I still use it on a daily basis.

Vorteile:

QuarkXPress is a very elegant and intuitive software to use for layout. I especially like the ability to create templates, master pages and style sheets when creating multi-page documents. Integrating graphic images and type management are a breeze. Conversion for commercial printing is so easy. I've completed everything from a small postcard to a 350 page coffee table book.

Nachteile:

I have no complaints with QuarkXPress, but have heard other complain about how difficult it is to learn. However, if the user is willing to spend a little time with the tutorials, they will find it very easy to use.

QuarkXPress

Kommentare: QuarkXPress is a great product. I would recommend it to anyone working in the creative field. It can be use for print and digital design. I use the product to create advertisements, collateral, packaging, flyers, success stories, white papers, guides, spec sheets, interactive PDFs, and so on.

Vorteile:

Easy to use. Has lots of features. Integrates well with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Love that you can create digital and interactive files.

Nachteile:

Some features are hard to find. Would like to see more training available.

Great to Use for Marketing Materials!

Vorteile:

I used this software regularly at my previous job, and really enjoyed it. I was able to create beautiful advertisements for print, fairly easily. I was able to teach myself how to use it also. When it comes to design software, this is user friendly.

Nachteile:

It is kind of outdated. These days, people tend to look for Adobe software proficiency. It is a great stepping stone to Adobe.

QuarkXPress Review

Kommentare: It's a software that most magazines, newspapers, and publications use to package their content.

Vorteile:

The software has tools that are simple to use when one designs news pages, magazines, and other graphics. it allows one to show creativity in order to come up with eye-catching designs.

Nachteile:

The lasso tools are rather difficult to use and can be improved.

If Quark were a man, I'd marry him.

Kommentare: I have used Quark for everything from business card design to websites. I especially like using it for layout on coffee table books.

Vorteile:

I love everything about QuarkXPress. I've been using Quark since 1990 and also taught Quark for a few years. There is an elegance to the way Quark works that is missing in other page layout software. It was set up by graphic designers for graphic designers. Even though I own Adobe Creative Suite, I prefer to use Quark for print and web projects.

Nachteile:

There is nothing that I dislike about Quark. Even if I run into a snag or problem I am able to find a solution easily with the Quark HELP feature or on their website.

A great way to build pages for newspaper production

Kommentare: It's the best program for page production, bar none.

Vorteile:

Quark is a great way to put together newspaper pages. It's easy to design award-winning, sharp pages, and I have won multiple industry awards using Quark. There are so many useful functions that assist the page builder, and it's a fast program once all the nuances are learned.

Nachteile:

Very few cons, maybe the most being that it tends to crash occasionally. But sometimes it crashes more on different computers, so it may not be a total problem with the program.

Quark is fine, but InDesign is better

Kommentare: I use Quark occasionally, when a client only works in Quark. I find it feels antiquated compared to Adobe Creative Suite.

Vorteile:

I don't really see any features that beat out InDesign. This used to be the industry standard, but less and less do my clients use Quark. Only in publishing and they are moving away from that.

Nachteile:

It's not the standard and converting files to InDesign is not always seamless. Quark is outdated in my opinion.

QuarkXPress is great!

Vorteile:

It's intuitive and easy to use. Even a beginner should be able to easily design in this once you have been using it for an hour or two. Even better, you don't need a subscription for it! I have used Quark and Adobe InDesign and prefer Quark.

Nachteile:

I don't have any complaints, I think it's a matter of what you were trained on: Quark vs InDesign.

Quark

Kommentare: I'm using Quark to easily output print jobs to our computer copier.

Vorteile:

I can output my jobs easily and effectively using the step and repeat and convert to pdf options. It's also fast.

Nachteile:

I least like that it starts up slower than usual for older versions of the software. I also am not too cool with it not having the mail merge option

Great Software for any kind of Publishing!

Kommentare: Good! Highly recomend for anyone publishing on a regualar basis. Software is easy to use if you have used other professional publishing software.

Vorteile:

QuarkXPress is very easy to use if you have used Adobe InDesign or CorelDraw. The user interface has a good flow and everything can be spreadout with multiple monitors. Using it for publishing booklets was easy and the printer had no issues with the files.

Nachteile:

Costs are a lttle steap for what I use it for. Would like more customization of the user interface. Overall no cons that would deter from considering for those that publish to the web or print on a regular basis.
