Kommentare: This is my first year with Drake and it is very functional for the cost. Drake is constantly improving and listens to their clients.

Vorteile:

Drake has myriad training avenues and has provided for solid tax planning opportunities.

Nachteile:

Some of the functionality is clunky. There are fields that could auto-populate from demographics that do not. This requires repeat entries.

A fantastic tax return prep program.

Kommentare: Drake makes it easy for our staff, at any level, to do their job with confidence. With its built in error messages and data validation features it is a great program.

Vorteile:

Drake helps us optimize the time spent on each return because the built in compliance features and warnings gives us confidence that we are thorough with each return. The Gruntworx feature is a game changer, allowing us to minimize data entry needs.

Nachteile:

My only issue is with the updates process. Obviously, real time changes make them necessary, however I am often the first person in and when I access Drake it requires all users are logged out. Because we are a small office it is easy enough to do but I can't imagine how that would affect a larger firm.

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICES EVER

Kommentare: Very disappointed in customer service and the person [sensitive content hidden] responsible to change my email address.

Vorteile:

I like the software and its functions. One of the best software in the market.

Nachteile:

I have been calling Drake for over year now to change my email to be able access my Drake online account but no answer till today. I couldn't even login to renew my 2023 tax software and use my rights networks.

Kommentare: Excellent. However, customer service has gone downhill since [sensitive content hidden] sold the company.

E-Signature limitations

Kommentare: Drake is continually improving their product and that is an important goal. The price of an annual subscription isn't cheap but there is entrance pricing for new offices. Drake Tax Software is in my opinion so much better than many other high priced solutions. The customer service is simply great.

Vorteile:

Great customer service, fairly easy to use and administer, diagnostic feedback and information is very helpful. Portals allows me to work with my remote clients efficiently but there are some key limitations.

Nachteile:

Portals remote e-signature is very helpful in most cases. However, in the case were the surviving spouse needs to sign in both places Portals falls down. It will not allow the surviving spouse to sign the return despite have death certificate and letter of testamentary. That is ridiculous and mind-numbingly stupid.

Switched to Drake

Kommentare: switched to Drake this tax season and went well, good customer support

Vorteile:

Easy to navigate from one form to another

Nachteile:

old world look and feel, for example software could not handle a business name with a . in it

Drake Software

Kommentare: I like the fact that the information rolls over from prior year. I can file personal and business returns. After the tax season, returns are free.

Vorteile:

Pricing, if I don't want the unlimited, I order 10 return submissions then add as I need. State filing is included.

Nachteile:

Not enough educational videos for training

Worst Tax Software on the Market

Kommentare: Absolutely horrible. Merged with another firm who was using Drake and have convinced the other principal to change software. Drake is a perfect example of you get what you pay for.

Vorteile:

Cheapest all inclusive product on the market. Price is about the only pro.

Nachteile:

1980s feel and look. Program has not had any major improvements for decades. New forms and tax law changes are shoe-horned in on screens like pimples on a face. Business returns are a nightmare to prepare. Balance sheet, M-1, and M-2 are black boxes and impossible to balance. Cannot track progress or see the effect of input data without doing a view/print then having to return to data entry and go looking for the entry field. EXTREMELY CUMBERSOME to work with.

Does not function

Vorteile:

When it's working it is a very old looking version of IRS tax forms on your computer

Nachteile:

It's a joke - I am trying to run a tax firm but preparers can't function because Drake updates every few days and the software is unusable unless everyone in the firm is logged out at the same time for an update.

Great Tax Software

Vorteile:

Drake Tax is easy to use and is generally very accurate. I like that it pulls information from one year to the next, which saves time on data entry. It is also very easy to speak with someone from Drake on the phone.

Nachteile:

Sometimes navigating to a different screen can be difficult. There can also be difficulty with determining how taxes are being calculated in the program.

Form 8825 is manual

Kommentare: Use to be very good. Had very good technical with quick answers in customer service. That has totally gone downhill in the last 2 years. People answering the phone have no experience doing returns nor experience with the software. The software has many missing holes and if you don't know what you are doing as a preparer you will be sending out incorrect tax returns and the reviews do not pick up errors and there is nothing that tells you that the allocation of days on Form 8825 is manual - MANUAL!? WHAT?

Vorteile:

The fact that data does not carry from federal to state, Form 8825 is manual for allocation of rental days to personal days and does not tell you that (how many returns have been efiled wrong?), Hard to trouble shoot, easy for a return to be wrong if you don't know what you are doing.

Nachteile:

Form 8825 - rental property should not be manual for allocation of personal to rental days!!!

Disappointed

Kommentare: This is not something I should repeat every time the file is not completely closed

Vorteile:

Price.Close the file after five minutesStay open when we are working, which includes SundayGive Christians a day off!

Nachteile:

When a file is NOT closed, the timer should shut down after five minutes. And why are you not open on Sunday?

Look no further for tax software!

Kommentare: So glad I listened to a couple of colleagues when they recommended Drake Tax! Normally when you are using an expensive tax software, you spend more time looking at how to correct the diagnostics than you do to input the return. Not with Drake Tax. The exceptions and notes tell you exactly what screen to go to. Each error message can be handled within a few minutes. Making the overall tax process smooth and enjoyable.

Vorteile:

This is one of the most all encompassing tax programs out there. Feature for feature - I see why a lot of firms use Drake. Easy to work with - move around - get right to the area you need - and if that is not enough - the help you get is unbelievable!!! bar none! I admit I had to call them a couple of times this busy season (since it was my first time to use it) and every call was answered by a person that easily answered my question within a couple of minutes. EVERY TIME! I don't think I was ever put on hold. The customer service is outstanding as the software is. It interfaced so easily with Tax Dome as well.

Nachteile:

The only drawback I saw was that it was not in the cloud. It might be a possibility but I didn't have time to waste this season if you know what I mean. If it could have been in the cloud and synchronize with Tax Dome automatically - I would be in heaven. I have to worry that my laptop could be stolen and then I would be in terrible shape...

We are more profitable with Drake Tax

Kommentare: We have been able to be much more efficient with Drake Tax and have been happy to get our profits up by reducing all of the costs of our other software.

Vorteile:

Drake Tax is easy to implement, user friendly, and very cost effective. We were using another tax software and the base cost was much higher and then we were always spending more money every month on special authorizations and e-file fees. Our costs were out of control. With Drake there is one annual fee and nothing else all year. And that fee covers all of our installations, every type of return, and all e-file fees, there are no hidden costs and no extras.

Nachteile:

There have been just a few times over the years where there was a statement or a form that I needed to include that the software did not produce. In those few cases though I just prepared the statement and attached it as a PDF to the return before e-filing, so, it was not a big deal.

This product is terrible - DO NOT BUY

Kommentare: This is a terrible product. Preparing returns takes a lot longer with Drake than it did with Pro Series.

Vorteile:

The customer service people speak english.

Nachteile:

I think I could do returns more effectively with an excel workbook. This software is very difficult to use and unable to handle complex business returns. In pro-series when you receive an error message Pro Series provide a link to the issue. Drake simply says "error on schedule..." Drake does not explain the error and at times Drake references a form that is not even available on the Drake software. Additionally, when you convert Pro Series accounts to Drake, Drake does not transfer all of the information so you have to review the forms to determine if the correct data was transferred. You might as well reenter all of the data if you have to go in and fix it. The sales person pulled a bait and switch telling me that payroll products were included for a flat fee and then charged me for the payroll product and told me she made a mistake. When I make a mistake I acknowledge it and take care of the issue on my dime. Not Drake, they put it on the client. Drake also has a no refund policy after December 31. I do not know any tax preparers that would be using their 2019 tax preparation software before 12/31/2019. I suppose if I made such a poor product I would also limit the ability for customers to return it. Honestly if I wasn't so busy I would file suit for the refund of the price just because it infuriates me to be scammed like this. Maybe this summer my schedule will open up and I will do so.

Great with Admin and Support

Kommentare: We have used Drake for years. Would love to be able to take a full-view webinar of everything the program offers. With the exception of one tax season, they have been reliable and foremost - easy to administer.

Vorteile:

Drake's people answer the phone within a few rings and speak Americanized English. Their admin function is best we have seen; fast and easy

Nachteile:

This appears to be a DOS-based program modified for Windows use. We have used other tax software that allows you to input the info directly into the tax form, instead of hunting through a bunch of Dos-looking screens to find the place to input info. Also - amazingly, Drake does not offer Refund or Owed updates as you input info. The learning curve due to the various Dos screens add to the length of time to implement with a new user

Software for Small Company

Kommentare: Drake has outstanding customer service -always has. I like that when you call you get a live person and not voice prompts. If someone is thinking about purchasing a tax software program, you need to seriously consider Drake.

Vorteile:

I have used this software for over 12 years. A few years ago, I opened my own practice and Drake was by far the least expensive program out there. Since I had already been using the software, the transition to my own company was easy. I didn't have to worry about the learning curve of knowing the software and it was easy to setup and start by business.

Nachteile:

I opted to include Drake Accounting in my package, but feel that the Accounting program isn't as easy to accommodate as the tax program is. But I have still used it for the w-2 and 1099 and it seems to get what I need done.

Look no further than Drake

Kommentare: I switched to Drake in 2006 and will
Never change again. Customer service is great and the software continues to offer everything I need to stay current and keep up to date.

Vorteile:

Software is easy to install, easy entry on all tabs and workflow integration is great.

Nachteile:

I have no cons with Drake software. Best choice I made.

Drake Software Review

Kommentare: Drake tax for its value was one of the easiest tax softwares to navigate. It heightened efficiency and is great all around.

Vorteile:

The software itself is very easy to follow along with a tax return. Like things are located on each tab which allows for high efficiency. If there are any questions the customer support is very very helpful.

Nachteile:

Needs to update items that carryforoward a little better

Drake is user friendly and we highly recommend it to all tax professionals.

Kommentare: We are able to prepare tax returns for all of our clients using Drake.

Vorteile:

We love the ease of use and they have great customer service. Love that we can always call if we have any questions.

Nachteile:

There's nothing I can think of that we don't like. I've easily trained other co-workers to use it without a problem.

Drake Tax

Vorteile:

The software is inexpensive and a great value for the price.

Nachteile:

Limitation on some business type returns and complex features. Depreciation/Fixed Assets side could be better.

Great software for beginners

Kommentare: My overall experience was ok, Drake Tax gets the job gone accurately.

Vorteile:

The ease of use during the first time. I like how easy it is to check clients refund status.

Nachteile:

Sometimes the customer service wait can be lengthy. Check printing process can also run a lot smoother. Clients will have acknowledgement what we would have there refund before the software updated us.
