Great Resource for Evidence Based Medicine

Kommentare: UptoDate is overall any amazing resource for evidence based medicine for nursing, medical students and physicians. It is a place where everyone looks when they need quick information about the most recent guidelines to guide clinical management. I think its also a great place to go for information where you dont have to fact check whether the information is reliable or correct. All the information is also sited so you can read full articles if interested.

Vorteile:

Up to date is unlike any other medical resource where you can find purely evidence based information and research in one concise and easy to search locations

Nachteile:

Some of the links on the site are hard to obtain the information that you are looking for . The links give a lot of extraneous information without actually telling you directly what you're looking for.

Get Updated wit the Uptodate

Kommentare: Its been more than three yeasr I have been using UpTodate regularly. I use it during my clinical practice and many of time it has helped me changing decision for patient care management. I often use it for my academic purpose. Had there been no uptodate I would have been a step back in my medical knowledge from where I am at present.

Vorteile:

This is my best app in the medical practice. The information given in the app is very high yield and the most trusted one. The information are continuously updated. The most recent treatment protocol and the criteria are always included. The information given regarding any disease is enough for any medical practitioner. The app includes details of any disease beginning from pathophysiology to the management. This is the most trusted medical app globally.

Nachteile:

When making a search it gives you a list of topics and you cant get the specific one you are looking for. So you need to be vigilant enough to select the specific one from the list given.

very comprehensive for primary care

Kommentare: Useful on the spot answer to common questions (the 80:20 rule), seamless operation on mobile devices.

Vorteile:

Very comprehensive data base which covers different aspects of medicine in general. has an exhaustive formulary that is quite helpful in includes off label in addition to the typical uses of each medication. Each page has a summery which is quite useful. Has a fantastic patient section. Frequent updating Mobile options are well designed

Nachteile:

Rather limited benefit when it comes to specialized care like surgical oncology since this is more of a general+ site rather than a comprehensive in depth encyclopedia. links to references need to be more easier to access, currently it enumerates references but actually linking to those articles is not present. needs more multimedia (pictures, videos etc)

The single most useful resource for clinicians today

Kommentare: I could not do my job at the level I do without UpToDate.

Vorteile:

I am able to access the most relevant evidence-based medicine there is. For treatments and conditions, I have been treating for years that I'd like to see what is new to that symptom that doesn't fit into a nice neat box. Many of my patients have obscure diseases I have never heard of or conditions I do not treat on a regular basis in primary care. UpToDate allows me to see the relevant details to better care for them.

Nachteile:

I wish there was a simplified view for the tx and duration of therapy for conditions that could then be expanded if you want to know more. Sometimes it feels like you are wading through a swamp of details to learn that the newest guideline is 5 days instead of 7.

Kommentare: Overall my experience has been excellent. I use this service instead of other ones as it is superior in many ways.

Vorteile:

Lexicomp service for drug information. Breadth and depth of reference material. Accuracy of material.

Nachteile:

The price is high. The process for reviewing and submitting continuing medical education credits is onerous and time consuming.

Great program for medical practices

Kommentare: Great program that I use daily to check on current medical guidelines or use to refresh myself on any medical topic.

Vorteile:

Has all the most current info on thousands of topics. Info supported by current research. It is like an entire medical encyclopedia at the click of my mouse or on my phone app. Virtually eliminates the need for textbooks.

Nachteile:

Expensive for single users, but my organization purchased this program for our entire staff.

Must have app for medical practitioners!

Kommentare: This app is one of the essentials in our daily practice as medical practitioners. We all tend to use it in our phones!

Vorteile:

This software provides a full access to the database of the most famous medical website (Uptodate.com). You can use you web account to log in and view all the content. There is no time or location restriction, you can access it anywhere! And most importantly, it is always updated!!

Nachteile:

If you don't have an account, you can't use this app (even for summary viewing as in the website!). So, it is a must to have account.

My favorite go to medical app

Vorteile:

This app is amazing. I use it daily when in clinic. Whether I need to look up a medication, dosing of medications, signs/symptoms of diseases, or need to educate my patients on something this is my go to reference. Worth every penny. Love the pictures that are often included. Also love the feature of pregnancy/lactation when prescribing medications. Also love that there is an app that you can access anywhere.

Nachteile:

Nothing. I don’t have anything bad to say about this software.

Great Resource

Vorteile:

This is my go to for everything. Very rarely do I not find what I am looking for. You get CME for subjects you look up. Great Patient Education Handouts.

Nachteile:

A little pricier than I feel like it should be but overall it is still my favorite. CME is not broke up for pharmacology and medical CME

Textbooks at your fingertip

Kommentare: Most common use it to check to see what the first diagnostic test would be to look for a specific condition, or to check on the latest first line antibiotic treatment. It's always come through and saved time.

Vorteile:

Up to date (pun intended) information about virtually any medical topic is quickly available with out having to think about which reference or online site might have the information you are interesting in finding.

Nachteile:

Sometimes finds general articles if you don't put in sufficiently restrictive key words. Could have more direct links to practical flow sheets which are sometimes buried within articles.

Quick, easy to reference

Kommentare: Has made some processes in the clinic more standard and manageable (i.e. testosterone replacement labs and frequency of labs- nursing staff has the protocol in the lab and sets up all appointments and the process is streamlined)

Vorteile:

As easy to use through the app as on the computer. Great to have a quick reference guide when on call or needing to look up info quickly. The news updates on what's new in up-to-date is also very helpful.

Nachteile:

Sometimes hard to toggle through the different sections on the cell phone, but ultimately manageable.

Vorteile:

I use it almost daily. Very comprehensive, well summarized, kept updated for the most part, the patient info section is very helpful and I use it for patient education.

Nachteile:

The patient education is not very well clear and you have to dig deeply to get it. There are also limited images to most conditions and findings.

my go to study & reference tool

Kommentare: this is the perfect tool to have on hand easily on the day to day in the hospital. its a wealth of knowledge that is regularly updating so I feel confident about the data it provides

Vorteile:

i love this app and would happily pay for access if my institution didn't already provide it for me. it's my first go to for whenever I have something I need to look up quickly when on the job and I am constantly discovering new aspects of the app. my favorite aspects are the "content" sections which you can search by medical field which comes in handy for just general review. the "drug interactions" and just general pharm information and the fact that I can save not just articles but individual figures and tables to my bookmarks. the perfect healthcare tool

Nachteile:

i really have no issues with this app. to be nit-picky when searching typically only the first 5-10 results are actually specific to what I'm looking for, but nevertheless they always end up giving me the answer so I don't have to worry about the remaining results being non-contributory

Absolutely essential for a medical worker and physician

Sometimes paragraphs rather than bullet points are a little overwhelming but it is certainly not problematic

A must to keep up with the lastest info

Kommentare: Love it, love it, love it. So much information updated, on the palm of your hand.

Vorteile:

Concise, always updated, always handy information to make medical decisions. The articles are well written and easy to understand for students and physicians alike.

Nachteile:

The cost. It may not seem like a lot but for students and physicians in third-world countries. It adds up. Specially if you're working for a non-profit.

Great tool for medical providers!

Kommentare: My overall experience with UpToDate has been a positive one and it has been a very helpful tool in my medical training.

Vorteile:

I like most easiness of using the program and the vast amount of information provided by UpToDate. You can find almost anything you need about research of many medical diagnoses and how to properly treat diseases.

Nachteile:

I like least that it is not provided for free for all providers and students. It can be expensive for medical students and residents but it’s nice they do have the option of group rates.

Amazin tool for health care providers

Kommentare: The way the information is displayed and how easy it is to find it, make UpToDate a great tool for healthcare providers. Learning updated guidelines, procedures, new and upcoming treatments it's vital and it's nice to be able to access a web page and data base this big and precise.

Vorteile:

UpToDate it's a great tool for doctors, medical students and health care related position workers to maintain health related topics and guidelines to the most actual and accurate.

Nachteile:

To acces the data base you need an account which is better provided by a company, for individual subscriptions can be a struggle.

Best resource available for up to date evidence based medicine

Kommentare: Just a must have with excellent tables and graphics.

Vorteile:

This is just a never ending realm of resources on almost any medical topic relative to active medical practice. I use this daily in the hospital to look up resources and studies relating to my patients. I could not picture learning medicine in this day and age without this resource. A must have!

Nachteile:

There is a ton of information available through this item, which means you have to filter through a lot to get to the relevant information pertaining to your patients. It would be great if they had summaries at the beginning, instead of the end.

UpToDate is expensive but worth it

Vorteile:

What I like most about this app, is as its name refers to, its content is always uptodate. I can always find that it is referencing to the recent findings in the field. Previously I used this app as a medical student and it was a fast and easy way for checking stuff right on my phone. It never ever put me down.

Nachteile:

I think the only draw back on this app is its price. It is a really expensive app to be honest. However it is definitely worth every penny. But I hardly paid for the subscription as a medical student.

Quick new medical knowledge

Vorteile:

If you’re interested in finding out the very latest information regarding anything medical, I would highly recommend this resource. Clear and concise information at your fingertips. Also, has an associated app with it that I also use when I do not have a computer in front of me.

Nachteile:

Costly to use with membership fees, but still worth it

Vorteile:

As a doctor, it's unthinkable for me not to use uptodate on a daily basis. Everything can be found there.

Nachteile:

There's no downside to it. It's concise, science based, updated regularly and it's helps a lot on daily clinical practice.

UpToDate is one of the, if not the best resource for current medical information. Everything is available in one convenient location. Always has the most recent recommendations and allows you to truly personalize medicine for each patient.

The only con that I have about this is the price can be a little daunting for some. But other than the price I have no complaints about this software
