Vorteile:

I use this software in weekly basis to search the most trustworthy information and the best practices about medicine. I really enjoy the experience and the quality of information. The UpToDate are very updated and the majority of my professors recommend it to search about pacient care and diseases management.

Nachteile:

The price is very expensive for students and sometimes they can't afford with it. Moreover the platform could offer more features.

Get Updated wit the Uptodate

Kommentare: Its been more than three yeasr I have been using UpTodate regularly. I use it during my clinical practice and many of time it has helped me changing decision for patient care management. I often use it for my academic purpose. Had there been no uptodate I would have been a step back in my medical knowledge from where I am at present.

Vorteile:

This is my best app in the medical practice. The information given in the app is very high yield and the most trusted one. The information are continuously updated. The most recent treatment protocol and the criteria are always included. The information given regarding any disease is enough for any medical practitioner. The app includes details of any disease beginning from pathophysiology to the management. This is the most trusted medical app globally.

Nachteile:

When making a search it gives you a list of topics and you cant get the specific one you are looking for. So you need to be vigilant enough to select the specific one from the list given.

very comprehensive for primary care

Kommentare: Useful on the spot answer to common questions (the 80:20 rule), seamless operation on mobile devices.

Vorteile:

Very comprehensive data base which covers different aspects of medicine in general. has an exhaustive formulary that is quite helpful in includes off label in addition to the typical uses of each medication. Each page has a summery which is quite useful. Has a fantastic patient section. Frequent updating Mobile options are well designed

Nachteile:

Rather limited benefit when it comes to specialized care like surgical oncology since this is more of a general+ site rather than a comprehensive in depth encyclopedia. links to references need to be more easier to access, currently it enumerates references but actually linking to those articles is not present. needs more multimedia (pictures, videos etc)

The single most useful resource for clinicians today

Kommentare: I could not do my job at the level I do without UpToDate.

Vorteile:

I am able to access the most relevant evidence-based medicine there is. For treatments and conditions, I have been treating for years that I'd like to see what is new to that symptom that doesn't fit into a nice neat box. Many of my patients have obscure diseases I have never heard of or conditions I do not treat on a regular basis in primary care. UpToDate allows me to see the relevant details to better care for them.

Nachteile:

I wish there was a simplified view for the tx and duration of therapy for conditions that could then be expanded if you want to know more. Sometimes it feels like you are wading through a swamp of details to learn that the newest guideline is 5 days instead of 7.

UpToDate Review

Vorteile:

I like that UpToDate delivers peer-reviewed, up to date information about a variety of different topics. You can easily search, learn about a topic including symptoms, dosing of drugs, interactions, side effects of medications, signs, lab tests, treatments, and prognoses of different disease processes and medications. You also earn CMEs every time you search a topic.

Nachteile:

The only thing that I do not like about UpToDate is the cost if you have to pay out of pocket for it. You could easily make this worth it if you were able to submit the CMEs you earn.

Great tool for medical providers!

Kommentare: My overall experience with UpToDate has been a positive one and it has been a very helpful tool in my medical training.

Vorteile:

I like most easiness of using the program and the vast amount of information provided by UpToDate. You can find almost anything you need about research of many medical diagnoses and how to properly treat diseases.

Nachteile:

I like least that it is not provided for free for all providers and students. It can be expensive for medical students and residents but it’s nice they do have the option of group rates.

Gold standard in medical literature review

Kommentare: The best medical research website/app for current medical recommendations and literature that I use daily to answer clinical questions.

Vorteile:

UpToDate is the easiest to use, most comprehensive medical literature review. Its search function is excellent and allowed rapid identification of the sought-after information.

Nachteile:

Uptodate is incredibly expensive. Although there are discounted options for students and residents, unless this software is purchased by your organization, a full membership can be hundreds to thousands of dollars a year.

UpToDate Review

Kommentare: Overall, UpToDate has been a go-to resource for me during my medical school rotations. Whether it is to look up the best treatment for my patient's condition or summarize the latest evidence about an alternative treatment, UpToDate is a trusted resource that I can count on for answers.

Vorteile:

Features of the UpToDate software that I appreciate the most are the abundance of information available on almost every disease and condition, succinct summaries that highlight the most pertinent information, and ease of navigation between topics.

Nachteile:

Unfortunately, UpToDate is not free, so I am unable to access it when I am not on my hospital's WiFi network. That is the only major con. Also, as with any encyclopedia-type software, there could always be more information available, but UpToDate does a great job of updating their knowledge base as evidence or guidelines change.

Must have app for medical practitioners!

Kommentare: This app is one of the essentials in our daily practice as medical practitioners. We all tend to use it in our phones!

Vorteile:

This software provides a full access to the database of the most famous medical website (Uptodate.com). You can use you web account to log in and view all the content. There is no time or location restriction, you can access it anywhere! And most importantly, it is always updated!!

Nachteile:

If you don't have an account, you can't use this app (even for summary viewing as in the website!). So, it is a must to have account.

A must to keep up with the lastest info

Kommentare: Love it, love it, love it. So much information updated, on the palm of your hand.

Vorteile:

Concise, always updated, always handy information to make medical decisions. The articles are well written and easy to understand for students and physicians alike.

Nachteile:

The cost. It may not seem like a lot but for students and physicians in third-world countries. It adds up. Specially if you're working for a non-profit.

An invaluable, trusted resource

Kommentare: Overall I have found this resource to be very useful, both as a student and now as a medical professional in my first position. The PA school I attended paid for this for each student, and my current employer pays for it as well for all of the employees to be able to access. It's a trusted resource used by many, many doctors, midlevels, and students. It's so nice to know that there is one place you can go to get most of the information you would need to treat patients. I use it so much that I have it saved as a pinned tab on my browser.

Vorteile:

I love that you can find any topic on here and can read as much or as little as you want about it, including some of the clinical trials that have been done on the subject. I have been able to find almost everything I need to read up on here. I also really love that you can get CME credits for reading the different topics on the site. It makes getting the credits a lot easier than taking time off work and going to a conference. I also really like the feature of being able to click on the 'summary and recommendations' tab if you're in a hurry and just want to read the highlights on a subject.

Nachteile:

There are some things that I've searched for that are a bit harder to find the answers to on the database. Sometimes I'll just need a simple question answered and it's not always easy to find the answer right away, I'll have to hunt around for it.

UpToDate

Vorteile:

UpToDate is an amazing application that gives a lot of information and recent advances in the medical field. It provides information on the disease from basics to thorough details. The good things about this site are: 1. It contains detailed information about any diseases enlisted. 2. Easy to use and understand 3. Summarize important subjects 4. Provide grants to low-income countries. 5. Detailed information to a healthcare provider and simplified version readable to the patient.

Nachteile:

I had difficulty while searching the pertinent information. For example, " If I search for the specific role of IL-6 in Multiple myeloma", I have to go through all the information of Multiple Myeloma and find out my desired information. I find this lengthy and time-consuming sometimes. Also, I am unaware about redeeming my CME points obtained from UpToDate in my country, if there is any provision of such facilities, would be helpful to all healthcare providers."

An indispensable tool

Kommentare: UpToDate is my go-to when I need help understanding a pathology, creating a differential, or coming up with a treatment plan. I love that it is updated so regularly and that the information is so detailed.

Vorteile:

Extremely thorough and well-researched. Easy to find exactly what I'm looking for and get either quick or detailed information depending on what I need.

Nachteile:

One could argue that it is too detailed for daily use, however I think it's easy to skip between sections and just find the information you need.

Uptodate

Kommentare: Uptodate absolutely improves the care I provide to patients and it keeps track of CME's I have earned while using it- a win/win for me and my organization.

Vorteile:

Love that this is integrated into my EHR software, it is so helpful to look up conditions right in the moment while providing telephone triage to patients. The photos are great quality and I like that all of the info. is generally on the same page so there is not a lot of clicking. Major bonus is earning CME's for doing what I need to do for my job anyway.

Nachteile:

For my purpose which is providing telephone triage to patients sometimes the info is too in depth, but not a major issue.

Appalling customer service

Good content overall I guess but super expensive

Nachteile:

Both a number of years ago and again the last two days, have had rude, unresponsive and extremely poor customer service experience. Not actually reading my complaint, responding irrelevantly and resorting to sarcasm and passive aggression when I ask them to please read my actual complaint. Can’t log in, automatically subscribed me a student subscription service when I’m no longer a student, charged me an exhorbitant amount for it and won’t let me use it as I can’t provide proud I’m a student. Tried to tell them I am no longer a student and the re-subscription default with me to that and I need it to be upgraded properly and keep getting responses sarcastically telling me to provide proof that I’m a student and sending me the same reply saying “you may have missed my response”. Unbelievable

The best clinical resource

Kommentare: I would highly recommend. I feel it is worth the money. I use it daily and it is the main clinical resource that I use.

Vorteile:

-easy to use -app is available but can also access website through desktop/laptop -includes review on different medical topics written by experts in the field including references -easy way to get quick information on medical topic -I use daily for medication dosing (including renal and hepatic dosing)

Nachteile:

-I do not pay for this personally but it costs a lot for the organization (so I have heard)

An absolute life saver

Vorteile:

Uptodate has been an absolute life saver in medical school and residency. Having so much health related topics at your fingertips is amazing. If I'm ever not sure about a condition, or a medication a quick search from uptodate solves all my questions. No other products measures up to UptoDate, it is well worth the money.

Nachteile:

Some topics aren't covered that well, and it leaves you digging in other sections for your answer.

Vorteile:

I use it almost daily. Very comprehensive, well summarized, kept updated for the most part, the patient info section is very helpful and I use it for patient education.

Nachteile:

The patient education is not very well clear and you have to dig deeply to get it. There are also limited images to most conditions and findings.

Great Software for Healthcare Providers

My overall experience has been very positive, and I will continue to use UpToDate as one of my primary sources for information in my practice.

Vorteile:

UpToDate is a very complete resource that I go to often to gain a better understanding of healthcare concepts, diagnostic procedures, and treatments. I am currently a PA student, and UpToDate has helped me to gain a better understanding of many different diseases and the details involved in their pathology. I like that it offers such exhaustive details on so many topics.

Nachteile:

UpToDate is a very complete resource. The only fault that I can find in it is that it is at times too much for a person to take in. Some entries are very specific and do not do a great job of offering simple explanations for those who are not as familiar in certain areas. A little more simplification might make this software more useful to a wider audience.

Healthcare bible

Vorteile:

Has a wealth of fantastic knowledge on diseases, symptoms, work ups, diagnosis, differentials, and treatments. A must for any provider in the field!

Nachteile:

Not always the most up to date, but they do a great job for the most part. Also the content can be overwhelming at first until you get used to the style of it.

Uptodate really does that. Keeps me up to date

Kommentare: Overall makes a huge difference as I see patients. A wealth of knowledge.

Vorteile:

Constant additions and easy to read format. Easy to access what is most applicable to me as a provider but still deep enough with plenty of content to dive in if I need to know more about treatment/disease mgmt.. I also love the patient info handouts and use them weekly.

Nachteile:

The continued medical education can be burdensome to redeem.

UpToDate for medical Providers

Kommentare: Very helpful as a provider. It has the most recent up to date medical guidelines and is also helpful for doses of medications.

Vorteile:

This app is very easy to use and matches the uptodate website online. The organization of the app makes it easy to read the different sections for what you are researching.

Nachteile:

This goes for the online website also, but UpToDate sometimes has so much information it is hard to interpret.

Best way I've found to access both continuing education as well as pertinent clinical questions

Kommentare: Easy to use both at home when I have time delve into information as well as when I am seeking answers to clinical questions that I have minimal time for.

Vorteile:

This is my first go to for clinical questions about assessment, diagnosis and management of clinical conditions.

Nachteile:

No pharmacology continuing education which would help me with the pharmacology requirements for my APRN certification. Not a deal breaker though because there are so many other ways to get these requirements. Just would be nice.

Love the content EBP at my fingertips!

It’s hard to read lengthy articles on a small screen. Unable to jump to key words- which can expedite my research.

Great EBP application

At times, its a little difficult to navigate certain topics as there can be an overwhelming amount of subtopics.
