Naja - es gibt bessere Software
Kommentare: Gute Software mit Handhabungsmängeln und nicht erreichbarem Support. Nur für Anwender geeignet die einigermaßen gut mit der englischen Sprache vertraut sind.
Vorteile:
Altium Designer ist recht umfangreich und man kann sehr viel damit machen. 3D und Anbindung an Solid Works sind sehr gut. Wenn man sich eingearbeitet hat (dazu braucht man Zeit und Nerven und man sollte sich diese auch nehmen) kommt man recht zügig vorwärts. Mit Tasturkürzeln zu arbeiten sollte man sich angewöhnen sonst macht es keinen Spaß.
Nachteile:
Support ist grauenhaft da dieser fast nicht erreichbar ist. Man kann sich 1000 Videos ansehen die alle das Thema tangieren wenn man viel Zeit hat, dann findet man auch eine Lösung. Wenn man den Support (Hartnäckigkeit ist gefordert) dann doch mal erreicht, dann ist der sehr kompetent. Einen deutschen Support zu bekommen ist noch interessanter, geschweige denn eine brauchbare Anleitung oder gar ein Menü in Deutsch. Das sollte für eine moderne Software eigentlich kein Problem mehr darstellen. Konstruktionen mit komplexen Geometrien macht man besser in anderer Software. Ich vermisse die Funktionalität von CAD Werkzeugen. Bei Altium wird die einfache Handhabung ohne Kommandozeile angepriesen. Die angebliche Benutzerfreundlichkeit über Bildschirmmenüs erschließt sich mir aber nicht wirklich. Auf ein Minium reduziert sind die Menüs, dafür darf man dann aber in Untermenüs suchen die sich durchaus von Version zu Version unterscheiden können. Handbücher werden dann schnell obsolet.
A complete Electronic design automation (EDA) software for professionals as well as for academia
Kommentare: I used Altium designer as a professional as well as a student. I developed several research projects using this software, that includes the development of electronic power converter, ECG machine, Weather station, and Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU). Moreover, as a professional, I used this software for the development of UV sterilizer, Renewable energy converter, Robotic Arm, and IOT switchboard.
Vorteile:
The best thing about this software is that it is a complete suite that includes Circuit simulator, Schematic Capture, PCB designer, MCAD for 3D modelling, and many more functions required for an electronics design process. The best thing about this software is that it is the oldest EDA suite therefore, it has the largest component library covering every electronic part and a lot of help is available for this software online.
Nachteile:
It is the most expensive Electronic design automation (EDA) software, therefore, a small firm cannot afford it.
Altium Designer Review
Kommentare: Overall I have had a good experience with Altium Designer. It was relatively easy to migrate from another major schematic capture/PCB layout package. Both packages had their pluses and minuses which pretty much balanced out, but Altium's lower cost tends to make it stand out.
Vorteile:
The ability to work from one software program is nice and seamless. The ability to view show others the assembled PCB in 3D is also quite nice, as well as easily being able to create unique instances for multiple board versions.
Nachteile:
Other PCB design packages easily allow displaying components and nets in user selectable colors by selecting the components or nets to be colored from the schematic which is great when grouping parts for placement and for verifying specific nets do not stray from where they are supposed to be.
How the Mighty Have Fallen
Kommentare: I was once a huge fan of this software, going so far as to be evangelical about it. Now, it's reputation lies in ruin due to corporate greed getting in the way of good engineering. Which, for an engineering software, is unforgivable.
Vorteile:
Altium has always been a very easy software to learn and has had a rich suite of features suitable for basic to quite high-level design.
Nachteile:
The new cloud functionality, which nobody wanted, is so poorly implemented. It is treated as a cash-cow for the greedy "business" people in charge of the company and doesn't add anything of real value - even with the more expensive license. If anything, given how buggy it is, and how there are still bugs from 10 years ago in the product, it can be said to be detracting from the product

Kommentare: Easy to use and create designs. From concept to manufacturer with add much or add little detail wanted.
Vorteile:
Ease of use with top notch abilities. 3D CAD abilities were easy to use also.

Extra cost for additional analysis add ons.

The Industry Gold Standard.
Kommentare: I have been using Altium professionally for a long time and I trust it to help me get the projects complete and correct.
Vorteile:
Altium is a full featured, industry standard tool to design electronics for product design, R&D, and academic environments. It has everything you need for rigid, flex, and other complex electronics assemblies, for design, layout, analysis, etc.
Nachteile:
Altium is an industrial-strength tool and there is a learning curve. There are annoying quirks you have to learn to understand and work with or work around. Once you know about its internal structure most of these things make a certain sense.
Usefulness for small companies
Kommentare: Overall it has been possible to get designs completed but has taken much more time because of the massive user interface and poor documentation of the program.
Vorteile:
Altium DXP is a sophisticated program which would work for larger organizations where there are many people working on a product.
Nachteile:
Altium Designer is a complex program really intended for large enterprises with many collaborators working on projects. Also integrating all areas of manufacturing from sourcing components to mechanical integration. Much of this is not useful for a small company and even a hindrance. The cost of a subscription is high so if you don't subscribe and update every few years you may end up with a version which has bugs or only partly implemented new features. Also using their database is partly dependent on having a subscription so you may be cut off from this at any time in the future since they are moving to a cloud based setup. So safer to copy the components to your own local component library. Also there are many newer components (eg. microcontrollers) which are not in the database and also not necessarily available from manufacturers and setting up new components correctly along with 3D models takes time and skill. Also for example if you wanted a 3 pin right angle header with 3D model you would need CAD software to take say a 10pin header and cut down. Not so simple. Overall it is a very capable piece of software but probably not the best choice if you are designing a few PCB's per year. Also for two sided mixed analog digital boards the autorouting isn't capable of routing. Probably works fine for complex digital multilayer boards but the constraints of two sided are beyond its capabilities.
Altium Designer ''Friend''
Kommentare: I started with Protel 99, after I switched to DXP and finally to Altium Designer. The most important value of Altium is the continuous improvement of the feature, tooling menu, visualiazation 3D, multiboard experience.
Vorteile:
Altium is very simple to learn, very performant tool, easy to use and very precise and fast routing. I like the 3D mode, new features added into 3D mode viasualization. Very easy to perform design rules check. Tool is quite stable and crash are very very few. It is good to work with git repository and A365.
Nachteile:
It is appreciated to add a PANEL FOR TESTPOINT management. We use a loto of ICT test point and the information in one side panel in real time is a VERY VERY important and accelerate the design of the boards.

It is a great Schematic PCB design tool that lets you generate complex designs with access to a pre-made library so one can start ECAD immediately and is inexpensive

More Mechanical CAD features, import/export designs from other vendors to translate everything over to Altium
Easy to Learn Electrical Design Application
Kommentare: Was able to become quickly proficient with the tool and produced complex designs within the first month of use.
Vorteile:
I support electrical designs created on most of the major ECAD platforms and have found Altium among the easiest to become quickly proficient in. Specifically Altium's PCB Design tool is very intuitive and powerful.
Nachteile:
Unlike other vendors Altium sells pre-defined "bundles" of tools rather than allowing users to configure their design environment through selecting individual licenses of available applications. Further, some of the bundled Altium applications are not on par with other vendor's offerings specifically in the areas of simulation, schematic capture, and cam. Product support is poor in comparison to major competitors.
Altium - many pros and few cons
Vorteile:
The software is very easy to use and quick to learn the basics. The most useful feature is the manufacture part search. You can find components with footprints and their stock on sellers very easily. Also, keyboard shortcuts are very useful, especially when you start to get the hang of things, they can save you a lot of time
Nachteile:
Some of the features that I use most often (cross probe) does not have easy to use keyboard shortcuts. The price for the license is somewhat steep, but the user experience is better than other software
Altium Designer Review
Vorteile:
Tons of features and quality of life features that makes design a little bit more enjoyable. 3D view is fantastic for a variety of reasons. Overall great product, but not without it's quirks
Nachteile:
BoM management can be a real pain, I understand how libraries should be managed, but I would like to have the ability to easily have generic parts and just fill in the fields required (Manufactuer, Part No, etc). Can be overall very quirky, but usually able to get by.
A user-friendly PCB design tool
Vorteile:
It has a simple UI and environment which allows engineers to design the schematic to gerber, also easy to learn PCB design tool for freshers
Nachteile:
The hardware requirements for the Altium designer is at higher end as it requires more memory and process speed for it 3D operations
Easier to use and just as full featured as other PCB Layout tools
Kommentare: I would recommend it for both simple designs and also more complex multi layered board designs, it handles everything well and is also very easy to use.
Vorteile:
Extremely smooth and easy to use. Very customizable traces and the cornering on the traces is just as I prefer them, not a 90 degree angle but rather two 45 degree angles by default.
Nachteile:
Does not have the simulation options that other tools often do and also is less customizable, both in terms of interface and components used.
Blows the competition away
Kommentare: I went through University learning Altium, as it was the software that had been licensed by our department for Electronics Engineers. It's a feature rich, fully fledged EDA that makes difficult tasks easier. Although I've since moved away as I can't justify the cost against the small output we have, its certainly worth the money.
Vorteile:
Has more features than any other EDA out there, and is continuing to push the boundaries with every yearly release
Nachteile:
The price, its incredibly expensive. However when compared to other EDA you can understand why this is the case.
Powerful, but very buggy.
Kommentare: I loathe it. I have been working in PCB design for many tens of years. I have used everything from top end packages down to text based systems. Nothing is as unstable and poorly implemented in my opinion as Altium. The fact that they charge so much for it just adds to the insult.
Vorteile:
The routing tools and placement during layout are very, very good.
Nachteile:
It seems unfinished - it's buggy - mine crashes every single day. It's very slow. An example - with a single schematic and a single layout open, clicking the tab to switch between them can take up to 20 seconds to change over. Not opening a new page, switching between two already open pages.
Best PCB Design Software Available

The availability of the latest footprints along with its lifecycle data is very useful while designing a product and the 3D cad, the UI, the collaborative Altium 365 all comes in handy
Nachteile:
Nothing specific... Some shortcuts and a bit of ease of UI for beginners would be good

Vorteile:
When adding component, often, footprint and schematic can be downloaded automatically from the web. The version management is nice, and I appreciate warnings that prevents to do things that may cause trouble (for instance when renaming a component before having saved the modification).
Nachteile:
I didn't found it easy to add component's footprint and schematic, from external lib file. (Import with snap Eda, and automatic download from the web are fine).
Altium Review
Vorteile:
I like the easy accessibility with different parts to create circuits. It is easy to find the part you want.
Nachteile:
It is difficult to navigate to the actual page the circuit I am working on is. Some UI changes could help with this.
