The best software for 2D and 3D CAD design.

Kommentare: We are now working with an electrical dealer, designing their electrical panels and we are having good results.

Vorteile:

The AutoCAD software is really good, its features that I have used the most are organizing electrical drawings by layers and having control of them, in addition to sharing the designs with my collaborators through the cloud for easy access and download. The software is easy to use, with a few hours of practice and love for design you can learn the basic concepts necessary to make your first drawing.AutoCAD is very important in my company since we use it many times to create our clients' designs, and above all so that they can understand the dimensions that have been made. We have increased the number of clients due to the easy use of this software.

Nachteile:

AutoCAD is actually very good, so far I haven't seen the need to implement any features. Inform that the software has very good support that they work to improve the software. Its appearance is very easy to use, it has a simple and easy-to-learn interface. The software integration was very easy and very important to get more clients.

Very good software for 2D and 3D design

Autocad is a very simple, quick and easy tool to learn. Easily import external data as dwg is the standard.

Nachteile:

It struggles massively with complex geometry

It´s one of the design programs on market with the most capacity and possibilities. Very usuful whether you use it only for plans or for 3D design. In the latest versions they have simplified menus and options to make it easier to use.

Nachteile:

It´s not very intuitive or at least you will need many hours to know how to use it. Best way is a training of at least 300 hours.

Kommentare: autocad is a basic software and very easy to use .very easy to integrate with other tools like cadtools,e survey cad .i used this software for last 6 years.

I've been using AutoCAD for over 10 years now, and I can honestly say that it's the best CAD software I've ever used. It's so powerful and versatile, and it allows me to create anything I can imagine. It's also very user-friendly, and there's a huge community of AutoCAD users who are always happy to help.

Nachteile:

As a student, I found the high cost of AutoCAD to be a major barrier to entry. I also found the system requirements to be quite demanding. My old laptop couldn't even run AutoCAD without crashing.

Vorteile:

Its precision level and it various tools made engineers march towards computer aided designing. It allows seamless collaborations by its various features. They gives free access for 1 year for students who pursuing their education.

Nachteile:

It is so expensive. Otherthan students, it is tough for an individual to buy it. With a low spec PC , Sometimes on importing data it will crash.

If you can imagine it, AutoCAD can draw it!

Kommentare: I have been using AutoCAD for more than 8 years. I have used it for CAD modeling, drafting, building design and construction detailing. I and my company has always used this program for any construction-related work. We have been using it as step one for creating a base model to be used in the Building Information Modelling process. We use it to develop Revit Model. Use it in Civil 3D for civil design. AutoCAD has always supported our needs.

Vorteile:

The freedom that AutoCAD gives you is one of the most important. If I can imagine any drawing/component/part in my head, then AutoCAD can draw it. There is no more easy explanation for it. AutoCAD is the most versatile and compatible software for any engineering problem. It works with Revit, it works with Bentley Suite, it works with Google package, it works with almost all software. AutoCAD is a basic building blocks for drafting, design and engineering analysis.

Nachteile:

AutoCAD does not provide full Building Information Modelling compatibility. Its content has only Geometric properties. It does not provide full parametric modeling and add a material characteristic to the model. It is simply a program that draws stuff. No intelligent modeling.

AutoCAD is great but at a price

Kommentare: We are an engineering firm and have used AutoCAD as our main drafting and design program for almost 30 years. Even though we have moved on to Revit, we still use AutoCAD for certain projects where 3D parametric design may not be needed or practical.

Vorteile:

I've used it for 30+ years so I know it inside and out. It's heavily customizable and AutoCAD is a great tool for just about anything you need to design. It's THE industry standard for CAD. If you work with lots of other companies and are sharing drawings frequently, AutoCAD is the way to go. AutoCAD LT may be an option as well at a fraction of the cost.

Nachteile:

While AutoCAD does offer some parametric and 3D features, it's not the best thing out there if you are wanting to do parametric 3D design. Also, after using Revit, the disconnection between drawings (other than xrefs) is rather annoying. But, if you're a skilled drafter, you can do great things with AutoCAD.

AutoCAD is one of the best drawing softwares despite its few shortcomings.

As it's to most developed software of it's kind of softwares, it contains the most important and useful tools that can be used to create or modify or even evaluate or improve the plans and the content. Especially in the windows or ios versions but unlikely in the mobile version.

Nachteile:

Sometimes it's necessary to get more tools and libraries from the internet wich makes it more difficult whenever you are working on a different type of plans, it would be very helpful if they could include all of the other items and libraries in the main product.

One of the best solution for construction designer

The software has compatibility with multiple operating systems and it is not necessary to have professional CPUs because the software works smoothly even on very basic computers. Another great aspect is all the features work great at a high professional level for fulfilling the needs of the construction sector. All the best professionals are aware of the powerful features that this software offers, so the use of AutoCAD will guarantee the quality of construction designs.

Nachteile:

The downside of AutoCAD is the price. Although the software is great it is overpriced considering the use for individuals even in very small businesses. I think there will be plans with affordable prices for these situations. I could only starting to use it after I was hired by a big company.

AutoCAD is very easy to use!

Kommentare: First time I got introduced to AutoCAD it was in high school, second grade. Since I went to high school which is specialized for training construction workers I have used many software's for drawing and one of them was AutoCAD, which I found very easy to use. I used it for 2 years in that period of life and it was very amusing for me to find something like that to ease my handwriting , drawing and drafting work with paper, pencils, rulers and divider. I had many different school subjects and most of them required drawing and drafting, so most of my work was done by AutoCAD software using mouse and keyboard. Later on in my life I had a few encounters with AutoCAD in a company that I work for and again it was like riding a bicycle, some things and stuff are just easy to use and remember, for me it was the AutoCAD.

Vorteile:

Accuracy and precision with really ease of use, that is exactly what AutoCAD is. With just computer mouse function and a little bit of keyboard usage the things you can draw without holding a pencil and without any need for all that drawing and drafting equipment on your table. Any kind of 2D drawings or 3D modeling drawings you can draw with AutoCAD, which helps you to visualize the objects better and that can be very helpful if you are a architect, construction engineer or a construction worker currently working on a project including building an object or infrastructure. The basic commands like Copy, Mirror, etc. can get your job done in just a few clicks! AutoCAD really saves you a lot of time. Most people would probably be interested in a price of this software and I can say that the price is pretty much good and affordable for a software of this kind, but I think the user should decide that one for it self.

Nachteile:

Some add-ons might be hard to install, but not necessarily. File transferring sometimes can be a little difficult especially if files sizes are bigger and because of that sometimes you won't be able to load some of the received documents, so you will have to find a fix for that, but still I did not have many problems of that kind or any other. One more information that could be useful is that AutoCad's files only can be opened with its own extension which is DWG ( I don't know is that a problem for some users or not, but there it is, truth is out there).

Even though it takes time, I cannot really state that my experience is a negative one, for the contrary, the more I learn, the more excited I get. AutoCad's difficulty is very well balanced out with the quality you are able to achieve within the software, and the wide possibilities it offers. Becoming an expert is a must have for many fields, it will surely open many doors.

To state an opinion of AutoCad being as objective as you can is clearly a challenge, because it is very versatile software, with distinctive functionalities that adapt to many industries, but I will give it a try: AutoCad has one of the most extensive tools set you can imagine, that allows to draft in a logical sense almost anything you could imagine through the space of your ‘canvas’. From package design, to wire and pipes, props, Architecture, Interior and Industrial design and even Printed Circuit Board designs (Even though there are more efficient softwares for that one). AutoCad is all about precision and logical designs that follow a mathematical pattern, even though it might be catered towards some specific fields, the possibilities are wide and you may find it useful for something you never really imagined that follows a specific rational arrangement, I could basically describe it as a digital technical drawing software with almost no limitations. Once you get a grasp of the most basic tools, it is fairly easy to keep everything neat.

Nachteile:

AutoCad is a very complex software, and learning how to use it is not precisely an easy task, sometimes just exploring the tools is not enough. I needed to do a few courses before I was able to get a grasp of it, and I am still far from being an expert. You usually adapt your learning curve towards what you are looking to do, since there is not necessarily a unique way to approach your designs, and the tools logical functionality might feel abstract if you are unable to understand them properly. The uses you can give to the software are as ambiguous as how you use your tools, and it adapts to your needs but at the same time you have to be aware of keeping your designs coherency at all times. I believe they should definitely enhance the printing area configuration; it still gives me a headache every time that I am trying to print a one page designs and I end up printing 4 divided sheets because of a misinterpreted printing setting. You need a high-spec machine if you are planning to design in 3D, it consumes a lot of RAM memory and might slow down or heat up your computer.

Industry Leader with a Legacy

Kommentare: For all its foibles and annoyances Autocad still offers a comprehensive design and drafting solutions for an amazing array of applications. I have had a love/hate with Autocad over the years dealing with its growing pains and Autodesks struggle to meet the many and varied needs of its users. For large scale projects there is still very few products that have the extensibility of Autocad to integrate into modern company quality, workflow and project management systems.

Vorteile:

Autocad was the first CAD program I ever used. To give you an idea of the time period, it was before MS Windows existed and we did not have mice! Thus, using Autocad under DOS was all about command line input and scripts. This aspect of Autocad remains unchanged today. There is a huge array of scripts, tools and add-ons for almost every niche application you could imagine. Autocad is essentially the Vanilla of CAD. On it's own its a bit dated and boring, but throw in some specific add-ons for your niche and suddenly its a game changer. In summary, there are many other CAD applications which are based on the foundation that Autocad created and do many things better or faster than Autocad, however, there are none with the level of 3rd party integration, development and scale support that Autocad enjoys.

Nachteile:

Autocad suffers from the same issues as does Microsoft Windows. When you have a large long term user base it's hard to innovate without upsetting users who have settled on a certain workflow or script integration. This has left Autocad lagging behind its competition in terms of modelling capability and performance. I find myself using other packages to create 3D models, then exporting the 2D drawings back into Autocad for final drafting and client distribution. Part of the issue is also crossover with products like Inventor and Fusion360. Autocad cannot become too parametrically driven or it will undermine Autodesks other offerings.

One of the things I like least about this software is the fact that its interface is a little bit confusing sometimes, and it could be complex too if you misconfigure it; even though there are configuration buttons, sometimes they are confusing or they hide another things and drives you to desperation on how to find some things. So, my recommendation to the software programmers or developers is that they must find a way to make things a bit easier to the users in that matter.

Easy to use once you get it

Kommentare: I used AutoCAD throughout my university career and in the professional and labor fields. As a civil engineer, this is a program that you use almost daily.

Vorteile:

It really is too useful and has too many functionalities in addition to many ways to do the same thing, so you just have to find the way that best suits you. For me it was not at all easy to use it at the beginning, it's like you open the program and it overwhelms you all there, but once you have it is extremely easy to use. Honestly it is a very extensive program and has additional extensions that you can add later for your particular use. There are functions that only civil engineers use, there are functions that only mechanical engineers or electrical engineers use, so I think it is very difficult to use the program in its gigantic totality, but that should not overwhelm you. Honestly it is not necessary to take a course to learn how to use it, on the internet this is all you need and after you understand it, it will be the best specialized drawing program you will find.

Nachteile:

share the drawings and the different versions you have, because if you save a file in a version, it can not be displayed on another computer with an earlier version, so if you have the latest version, you should always remember to save the file in a format the previous versions. And Plotting a plane and the scales, that process should be more intuitive, it can really become a nightmare to move from the screen to the paper.

It enables you to quickly materialize concepts and ideas in the form of drawings for project designs to meet the required specifications. It is also able to rapidly perform simulations and design calculations, along with auto evaluation of certaiy unknown dimensions. It consists of a large variety of functionalities and tools to fulfil to the demands of users from different industries. It comes with a high level of compatibility and integrates readily with a big number of other designing software. You can also use it to open and edit 2D drawings created on another software. Due to its large and active online user community, getting help is easy when faced with a problem, adding to the pre-existing resources it already have online. Very possitive experience with AutoCAD Review

Kommentare: Since my undergraduate studies and throughout the previous years, AutoCAD has been the program on which I have spent hours each day working on architectural designs and assessing the numerous prject drawings of the projects that I oversee. The clarity of the engineering standards that are presented on it increases your confidence in the capacity of technicians and construction workers to apply this.

I really enjoy using AutoCAD's commands because they're simple yet not overly difficult. I like that each function's additional options are clearly stated in the command bar, as well. I believe that general usability is fairly decent. CAD won't be difficult if you're comfortable with using computer programs in general. However, the project's return on investment is exponential, which is staggering. Even more than just completing straightforward linework in Adobe products, I utilize this software on a daily basis. My workflow just can't function without CAD that it has become so instilled in it.
