Writer almost since its inception--30 years ago?--I've been working with the program through three major versions now and each time has been a leap forward in power, flexibility, and intelligence. We are a single shop with a unique mix of classic and modern cars, and R.O. Writer is flexible enough to accommodate both and all of these...

Vorteile:

Tech Support for this program is MIND BOGGLINGLY good! Incredible service, super knowledgeable agents, lightning fast response time to both phone call and emails--agents beyond smart, knowledgeable, and efficient. They take the time every call to fix as much as they possibly can. World Class! I would buy the program on the strength of this support alone.

Nachteile:

Interface still looks like it's from 1995, some of the defaults--I'm looking at you scheduler--are oddly mixed in and work oppositely from themselves in different parts of the program. We often end up with appointments on the wrong day, at the wrong time, because people who use the program occasionally get tripped up by the anomalies/inconsistencies.

Kommentare: The reps I spoke about these issues are just order takers they just say ok I will tell management. I got the rep on the ro writer screen with me and showed her what we were going through and she was yeah that is terrible ….but I will tell management.

I have used the previous version of RO writer for 20 plus years and was very happy with it until a slick salesman got a hold of my general Manager and talked us into purchasing this new version of RO writerWhat a terrible mistake!!!this new version is clunky takes 30% more time to write up a repair order The new color makes us become fatigued quickerPlease give me back my old version of RO writer or I will have to go to a different software company.

Nachteile:

After you finish writing a description of repair it takes you to the bottom of the page causing you to lose you place on the page Causing you to lose your thought process and you are constantly going to the bottom of the page and back to your original place on the page.This is super exhausting and is waiting precious company time Bad product give me back my old version

RO Writer is used friendly

Vorteile:

This software provides ease of use when looking up history for customers. Able to find any customers vehicle with great VIN look up procedure.

Nachteile:

The only con I have with RO Writer is the software upgrade/update process seems to always have at least a couple hiccups. But they are usually quickly solved by the awesome RO Writer support team and Holly!

User since 1995

Kommentare: Always a great experience with RO Writer, when we purchased our shop in April RO Writer was one of the first calls we made. All the sales managers have always been more than helpful. My most recent sales manager [SENSITIVE CONTENT] was exceptional!

Vorteile:

The best aspect of RO Writer is the accounting system in it, we are a shop heavy on fleet and this makes my monthly billing MUCH easier!

Nachteile:

No complaints at all, we have used RO Writer for over 25 years now.

BAD TECH SUPPORT

Vorteile:

Good, but uninspired program. Decently easy to learn. Does everything we need it to. Better than paper system we had previously.

Nachteile:

Tech support. There are other issues, but the tech support is very bad. Don't get me wrong. The tech support isn't so completely horrible that you will be forced to switch to a different program. It's just good enough that you will probably stay using their program because you don't want to go through with retraining your technofeeb employees on a new system. Let me elaborate on how bad they are: No online knowledgebase. No user forum No email blasts on known issues occurring Calls to tech support have approximately 20% chance of being kicked out of the queue and hung up on because nobody picked up the phone after 5 minutes of waiting. Calls to tech support have a >25% chance of not returning your call. Yes, I really am saying they sometimes do not call me back. Frequency of failure does increase as the severity of the problem decreases. In other words, they've always called me back on critical issues. But on very minor issues, they've failed as much as half the time to call me back. Calls to tech support rarely reach someone who can fix your problem. They almost always have to call you back. Tech support consistently and repeatedly fails to return your system environment back to it's original configuration after remotely logging in. For example: regedit is often left running and UAC is never turned back on before they log out of your system. The second worst problem is lack of user input. There are several areas in the program that work...but require many extra steps that could be reduced with minor coding additions.

RO Writer

Kommentare: The reports are a great way to drill down into how the business is doing.

Vorteile:

The scheduler, DVI Suite, matrix gives us the ability to maximize each repair order.

Nachteile:

The ability of the system alerting us of services that are do since last visit.

Been with R.O. Writer since DOS days....F7 key anyone?

Vorteile:

"version 2.0 " or whatever its being called is the absolute worst in every way; And trust me, I've been here for the long haul since the days of DOS OS and F Keys...What's bad? The Color and Layout, price, epicore, lasercat, integration of multivendor parts, number of clicks to get an R.O. open or Closed. It has ZERO intuativeness. It's overly comberssom and has unnecessary redundancy of clicks built in to open or close an R.O. My best guess is that the [SENSITIVE CONTENT] are tired, rich and lazy and have finally outsourced this "Gold Standard" of days long since gone by the wayside.

20 year user and now Im looking for a new system

Kommentare: After 20 years, no updates to impact functionality that really matter to day to day operations, I'm now looking for new systems because of the 2.5X price increase in the monthly fees! I used the tech support maybe average once per YEAR to get the system running again after a windows update and what I was paying before was too expensive for that. Don't pay $10,000 plus and $200 a month to write addresses and vin numbers in a system that gets no new updates, or repairs made to the glitches!

it is functional for operating my business

Nachteile:

clunky, slow and navigation is stupid. too many 'features' and repots that are useless. all the time invested into making this software 'better' is just adding useless reports and tracking mechanisms that are meaningless

An Awesome Shop Management Program

Kommentare: The Support team at RO Writer are awesome. CSR respond to all our issues in a prompt manner. The Level 1 and 2 support staff can fix any issues we have in the same day. It happens on all software packages these days.

Vorteile:

What we like about RO Writer is the ease of use and the ability to navigate through the Software. It is very user friendly even for new users. The Accounting side of RO Writer is a must for shops looking to increase their profitability, knowing where the Margins are is very important. Our CPA recommends it also as it is very powerful in that feature. The Support team is awesome.

Nachteile:

Speed issues, but we are on an older version and soon moving to the newer 2.3 version. Sometimes the older version will run sluggish but our database has grown leaps and bounds over the last few years.

Great in 1999

Kommentare: RO Writer is a large improvement over using just paper, but does not measure up to newer platforms and cloud based systems.

Vorteile:

The best feature about RO Writer is Smart E-Cat. This is an add on feature, but does more to drag this archaic platform into this century than anything else. That said RO Writer functions as a great shop management system in 1999.

Nachteile:

While the program functions it does everything VERY slow. There is also very little customization for most operations.

Been a customer with two locations since 1999. This program is the back bone to my biz. You guys have made some major changes to your new 2.0 update and R O Touch. It fells like the Giant has awoken. Good job. Love your team of professionals. AC is a Rock Star! The support staff "gets it done" Another satisfied customer.

Nachteile:

Follow up when calling in and leaving messages in timely order could use improvement. It's tough to have to call you back to find out when someone will fix problem.

Best Automotive repair shop software, Hands down.

Kommentare: Super fast and easy to build RO's and estimates. Lots of good reports.
Would recommend to everyone in the Automotive repair field.

Vorteile:

Nachteile:

None at this time. RO Writer ROCKS. Have had two other software companies, None compares to RO Writer.

Awesome

Kommentare: I will recommend this software to everyone, R.O Writer is the way to go. Had a bad experience with Mitchell 1 and would not recommend that to anyone.

It does everything a Mechanic Shop needs.

Nachteile:

I love everything about it. There is nothing I do nit like about it.

Overly complicated system with NO tech support

Kommentare: Working with r.o writer has been the most difficult part of doing business. constant interuptions in service with NO tech support. Having to wait over 2 weeks for a call back only to have them tell you they have no record of the original call/ problem.

Vorteile:

switching to another software. The day we get rid of it

Nachteile:

The list is too long. not user friendly.

THE BEST SOFTWARE EVER!

Kommentare: TIME IS MONEY AND MONEY IS TIME! IF YOU WANT THE TWO WORKING TOGETHER GO WITH R.O. WRITER.

Vorteile:

MOST EFFICIENT AND EASY TO USE. EASY ACCESS TO ALL APPLICATIONS ON THIS SOFTWARE FROM CREDIT CARD MACHINE TO QUICK BOOK FINANCES , PROFIT AND LOSS STATEMENTS , CAR FAXES, ALL LINES TO PART SUPPLIERS TO DEALERSHIPS.

Nachteile:

LITTLE PRICEY FOR SMALL SHOPS BUT STILL WORTH THE VALUE. COULD BE FASTER SERVICE ON RETURN CALLS BUT THE PEOPLE THAT HANDLE THE CALLS ARE VERY EFFICIENT.

The only thing I have a con is with inventory. The reports for inventory does not work since the RO has been updated. It dup. parts number on reports.

A good system for the automotive world

Vorteile:

The ease of creating repair orders and how the flow of the program operated, it is focused for the automotive repair world.

Nachteile:

At times getting access to it while out on a road call, customers location, or in a poor internet service area.

The most powerful tool for your shop.

Vorteile:

The overall usability and control the software gives you is unmatched. You can really customize things to suit your needs.

Nachteile:

Wish it had more mobile features such as ability to view schedule remotely from a mobile device. As well as operated on Mac! Cmon guys!

Sales Manager AC is great! showed us the new features for RO Writer and explained them to us. He has great Customer Service.

Vorteile:

RO Writer is easy to use and the new functionality is going to make our job easier. We really like the new features of RO Touch.

Nachteile:

Sometimes customer support is slow to respond but most of the time you can work around until they get back to you.

Helpfull and easy

Lots of configurations to fit your needs. Electronic ordering parts and labor matrix help with profits.

Nachteile:

Sometimes support can be slow, luckily we are usually able to work around most issues, Thankfully there are not many

The smart E-Cat function when it works. The customer support is so poor that I can not say anything else positive about this software.

Nachteile:

The customer support is awful. The tier one technicians can rarely help you and tier two is slow to respond if at all. I have frequent file corruptions.
