Kommentare: We have been greatly satisfied with Givebutter. The zero fees and complete data transparency have put us in the drivers seat with our online fundraising initiatives. Using Givebutter has dramatically increased our online fundraising potential. We are eager to keep this product in our arsenal of tools in the work ahead of us.
Vorteile:
Givebutter is easy to use, has lots of great features, and gives you control over your data. It also doesn't require a barge or boatload of cash to get started. Givebutter has a great team of specialists ready and willing to help you through your initial configuration as well as your ongoing work with the platform.
Nachteile:
There are no drawbacks. We are eager to see what new features Givebutter continues to implement to make its communication with other platforms common in the space as seamless and easy as its current complement of offerings. We are also eager to see FORM applications grow so we can retired other solutions we have entirely. We are working hard to earn enough annual dollars to afford custom URLS and the giving hub. Two great features we are eager to implement as WE grow.

Some food for thought and a happy user
Kommentare: I love that the platform allows me to sell tickets, fundraise, and manage donors. My donors did not like the prompts to tip and pay fees. I ended up mostly turning those off to avoid complaints. Overall, it's a great platform!
Vorteile:
That it is both a ticket sales and donor management platform.
Nachteile:
I would like to see better development of the platform for donor management. It was not easy to see how to address a thank you letter to a household when entering new constituents. Maybe you have a recorded training about this that I could learn from. We have been using Little Green Light for donor management. They have more capacity for tracking and connecting constituents that I would like to see developed in GiveButter (or that I need to better understand in GibeButter). Secondly, I was disappointed that there was not a clear way to mark ticket sales as separate from donations. I found that if I set a goal for fundraising, the ticket sales and donations both were counted towards the goal. However, the ticket sales were not a donation and should not have gone towards the goal. Because the platform did not allow me to separate them, I had to stop showing the fundraising goal bar.

The interface of the event website is really great. Our constituents like it and we've got great feedback that it looks nice and was easy to use

There are so many ways this didn't work for us. We signed up for the hybrid auction/event capabilities, and that it was free. However there are so many glitches that come up. For instance, in creating our ticket options for sales, we created a Ticket Bundle- 8 tickets for a discount. However, when someone makes that purchase they didn't create any way (we've reached out about it several times...) for this purchase to verify 8 attendees; it registers as 1 attendee. So we can't use their check in system built into the ticket sales because it's not accounting for multiple people! SO WE'VE HAD TO CREATE AN RSVP SPREADSHEET, a total nightmare, and transfer all rsvps via the website to the spreadsheet to account for actual bodies/attendees. Additionally, as I mentioned before, I chose this platform for the Hybrid/online auction capabilities. However this also became a nightmare to deal with. There is no way for a ticket sale to assign a bid number automatically. So if guests want to bid, they have to sign up ADDITIONALLY ON THEIR OWN for a givebutter account, register their cc information, verify that through their personal email, then re-login to Givebutter to bid. This is THE BIGGEST BARRIER TO GIVING! We are now not even doing an online auction. Can you imagine going to an event, being told you have to login to a site, create an account, enter your cc info, check your email then log back into the site to bid? Would you even try?? Also we were told our transfer would be seamless with recurring/monthly donor plans because we already had a Stripe account and that's what Givebutter uses. We were obviously thrilled we could switch platforms and not have any interruption with our donors! However they use Stripe Express, which is actually DIFFERENT than a regular Stripe account. So if you're already using a Stripe account you'll have to get ANOTHER Stripe Express account that doesn't include important information about your constituents you already have in Stripe, like their customer ID numbers, cc info and more. Also- we were going to move our CRM over. They said their support team would be really helpful in this regard, that we would have unlimited email tech support. However they have no sample CRM to look at or try. YOU HAVE TO BUILD OUT YOUR OWN CRM, taking any and every field from a platform you already use and create an excel etc that includes every field and somehow they will help you build your own platform. Their tech support for this was nowhere near what we needed in order to complete let alone start this. They basically point you to different videos they have so you can learn to code etc yourself. Do not recommend based on current experience. I know they are always looking for recommendations to get better but the above seem pretty basic to include for auctions/events to offer this service. We are having to DOUBLE our platforms and efforts to get through this event since we launched it and learned later how incapable it was of handling basic event needs. Don't make the same mistake we did.

While Givebutter is a great platform overall, one thing I found challenging was the limited customization options for campaign pages. A bit more flexibility in design and layout would make it even better.

Givebutter has made it so easy to create, edit, and share campaigns. The technology is so user-friendly, which makes engaging with diverse audiences a piece of cake. Requiring fees and giving donors so many payment-type options are small but extremely valuable features, saving and making us thousands of dollars with our first few events. Looking forward, I am excited to explore many more of the app integrations. I could go on and on...
Nachteile:
I think some customization features (e.g. customized thank you emails for each "ticket type") are missing, which hinders my specific priorities; however, Givebutter's roadmap and ability to upvote features have been great ways to share my wants. Also, having to pay an additional fee to Zapier to connect to Salesforce is a big pain point for my leadership. Other platforms like Givebutter, though not at all on the Givebutter level, connect without an additional cost.

Vorteile:
You would expect with a free platform you would get lesser customer service than other paid platforms, but that is the completed opposite. The team at Givebutter are friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. Every single person I've worked with is a five-star ambassador for the brand. Amazing to work with.

Efficient and Cost-effective

I absolutely have loved this platform. The staff are communicative and supportive. The platform is user friendly. They are also receptive to feedback an actively make changes that are suggested which is os nice. Beyond this, the cost is something that cannot be beat! Perfect for a smaller nonprofit with a terrible budget but big goals!

Nothing so far. If I had to put anything down it would be that I wish I had found them sooner!

We run multiple fundraisers on same account, so the lists of names gets mixed. When transfer to our bank account, would be nice to have a few words appear on transfer on bank statement. We have multiple fundraisers and they all transfer as “Givebutter”. If we could make it say “Givebutter basketball” or even a few letters so the person doing bank reconciliation knows which of the 5 Givebutter sub accounts the transfer came from.

A User-Friendly CRM
Kommentare: Great. We don't have complex needs, and GB meets all the ones we do have. They also have good customer service as the few times I've reached out with questions, I've received prompt responses.
Vorteile:
It's easy to use. I don't have a background in fundraising or CRMs, but after a few weeks of playing around (and reviewing their tutorials), managing my customers became straightforward. Also, the ability to have donors or customers cover costs is very helpful. Our last CRM had a monthly subscription cost that became a problem, especially during months we weren't much using it. Having the flexibility of patrons helping cover these costs makes our org that much more financially sustainable.
Nachteile:
There's a default setting that enables the patrons to give tips to GB. Though the tips can be adjusted by percent, there's an initial sticker shock to the final cost of a donation or service that was off putting to our customers—many of whom were older and didn't realize that this tip feature was optional. We've since disabled this feature on all our campaigns, and then tip GB ourselves with our payouts, but there were a number of unpleasant emails from angry patrons initially.

Excellent for non-profits of all tech-skill levels to offer modern virtual fundraising events
Kommentare: We created our account in 2020 and it solved the immediate critical need of reaching supporters for our fundraising events amidst a pandemic. Because of Givebutter, we had an immediate and headache-free solution that allowed us to raise almost $40K so far. Also, we are an agency with many different programs, each of which manage their own unique fundraising campaigns and have their own unique needs. Givebutter offers three different types of fundraising campaigns, which allowed each of our Programs to run the type of campaign they needed.
Vorteile:
It has a clean and simple user interface, which required very little training time as I onboarded new Users from our staff. Their support team is very responsive and knowledgeable, and help to guide us through all of our questions. Their organization has a customer-centric focus, and is designed to receive and adapt based of their user feedback. We also really liked its ability to integrate with our CRM.
Nachteile:
Currently they do not offer an online auction function (silent or live), but this feature is in development and anticipated this year. We also did not like the Tips feature, which if activated removed their platform fees. Essentially, if you leave the Tip feature on then at checkout it provides the donor with the option to also tip Givebutter. We felt that this was confusing to our donors, who may not understand what Givebutter is, and that those funds would not be included as part of their gift to our organization. We would instead prefer to have a flat platform fee, but realize this probably means they would make less money. Also, the integration with our CRM was limited in terms of what data migrated where. We hope to see that change, so more information can be captured via Givebutter and automatically synced into our CRM.

Givebutter for Gala Event
Kommentare: We used Givebutter for ticketing and other "purchases" for a gala event. It met our basic needs and we could use it's peer-to-peer capabilities to allow audience vote-by-donation for our event's competition that we could not do with last year's solution (Ticketspice), but the overall experience was frustrating. Features were limited. Fees were high and tip requests annoying. Reporting and data management was insufficient.
Vorteile:
We needed the ability to sell (and comp) tickets (with different pricing tiers), to send tickets electronically, check-in guests (preferably with a quick ticket scan but also by name), and allow audience voting during our event. Givebutter delivered all of these capabilities. The event/campaign could be set up and managed outside of our CRM (by a volunteer who then didn't need full access to sensitive data) and integrated (limited) with our CRM. We also sold online tickets to the event and streamed it on Givebutter (although that was a complete hack)
Nachteile:
Although the product satisfied our needs, there were many small frustrations and overall it felt like an incomplete product. Issues included:- High fee rate (standard credit card rate, although our actual fees seem higher) for non-profit use.- Additional "tip" to Givebutter both on the user side (can be removed if you pay even higher fees) and when making payout transfers is frustrating and not non-profit friendly- Ability to set different ticket tiers but no easy way to handle table purchases (just purchase X tickets)- Receipt info can be customized, but not in the way we wanted (include overall fair market value of purchase, as that cannot be deducted)- Poor campaign layout editor with limited options- Livestream of event is simply on the event ticket page. No ability to track watchers unless they click the "check in" on email. But during the livestream anyone can go to the ticket page and watch. It did allow us to have donation buttons on the same page as the event.- Payouts are manual and separate for each campaign. - Somewhat clunky UI

A unique take on donor management and online giving
Kommentare: I have a highly positive experience with Givebutter. Their support and staff are highly responsive and the appear committed to continuously improving their product. They have an impressive number of features for a "free" system and what minor inconveniences there are I can definitely live with considering how much I'm saving buy using their platform.
Vorteile:
Givebutter's major selling point is that they do not charge anything for the use of their system. Givebutter is free forever for our non-profit. In a world where every other platform is charging based on the number of contacts in your database this is a game changer for us! This means we can use our Donor Management system as our primary CRM as well, at no additional cost. I also love that they include a robust texting and email communication system. Making communicating with our donors a breeze. Finally they seem committed to continuously improving their platform, adding new features regularly. I love this from a "free" system!
Nachteile:
Because they are free for our ministry to use they ask your donors to make an additional donation to Givebutter on all webforms. It's possible to decline, but it's not easy, and the suggested amounts seem quite high. I cannot tell if that has put people off of donating to us or not. The alternative is to pay a flat %1 fee on every online donation which means that donors will never see the option to donate to Givebutter, but effectively means Givebutter is not a free system and the costs go up directly in proportion to the amount we make. TL;DR it's complicated. At the present time Admins cannot edit or adjust a recurring donor's amounts or date of donation. The only option is to cancel a donation and have the donor restart their recurring donation on the date they want it to recur.

Pleased with our switch

I was told by a donor that it is hard to cancel a recurring donation. Also, that the added fees were not easy to recognize for our donors.

The fact that this product is free to use is insane and a huge blessing for us as a non-profit! You get all of the features of the highest priced products on a streamlined platform with a great mobile app and support.
Nachteile:
The only thing I don't particularly like is during the donation purchase process the pop up for the givebutter tip is a bit confusing to customers, it would help if it wasn't automatically selected.

Fundraising on a Whole New Level
Kommentare: With this platform we video classroom activities, present scholarships, highlight students and, this year, conduct an online Silent Auction! We have doubled our bottom line donations since there is no venue rental, catering costs, etc. I strongly encourage you to Give Butter a try!

FOr years we held an Annual fundraiser for our students in Career and Technical Education. It was, for ten years, an in-person event, plated dinner, speakers, etc. When the pandemic hit all of that changed. We began with Give Butter in 2021 and we are starting our third year. It has been AWESOME! Are donations are up and our overhead is WAY down. I don't know that we will ever go back to the former "old school" plated dinner and speakers.

It takes a bit of getting used to, the first time out but subsequent set-ups are a breeze!

The future of fundraising platforms
Kommentare: I have been so happy using Givebutter. Everyone I worked with has been on top of it, answering all of my questions. It has been a wonderful experience so far.
Vorteile:
I searched many different platforms and was disappointed in what I was finding as it looked outdated, was not user friendly and had a high price tag. When I found Givebutter, everything changed. It was updated to tech standards of 2024 and had a visually pleasing interface. I was so happy with the customer service, maneuverability of the site and the endless integrations and options.
Nachteile:
As a new site, there are still a few items within the auction platform that need updating. We have a paddle raise and are looking for an easier way to charge guests after the auction.

Givebutter produces results
Kommentare: We have had a very positive experience with Givebutter in creating a portal for effective fundraising. Our account representative makes himself available when we need him.

Customer support and features, no charges for donations.
Nachteile:
Limitations on Squarespace text files. Page layout limitations and restrictions. Posts and landing copy have to be what the format dictates- not enough control over font sizes, styles, text block placement.

Excellent product for small non-profits without extensive resources, great service!
Kommentare: Overall, we are very pleased with our choice to use Givebutter! The database portion has been very helpful, and our users have commented on how easy it is to give via credit card, EFT, etc. They also love being able to leave messages during checkout as part of the public updates. There are few limitations in overall capabilities still, but for a FREE CRM, we really couldn't ask for more. The service is incredible as well - thank you, Givebutter!
Vorteile:
We LOVE having a truly FREE database and online payment processing system for our Foundation, which was just started this year and doesn't have a lot of assets to invest in overhead. The service has been exceptional, and even our hopes for additional capabilities have been met with attention to our needs and hope for future implementation. We are really pleased with the "whole package" that Givebutter offers for our fundraising and contact tracking needs.
Nachteile:
There are a few capabilities we'd like to see added, such as the ability to record and track pledges in our fundraising totals. Additionally, the Engage email platform is still pretty limited in formatting -- cannot "center justify" text or images as one minor example that makes a difference in aesthetics. We also have to use another platform to accept stock transfers, DAF gifts, and other non-traditional gifts. Would LOVE to see Givebutter venture into these gifts types in the future as well, so it's truly a one-stop shop for 501(c)(3)s and their fundraising.

A newbie but learning more every day!
Kommentare: Overall, I would recommend Givebutter to other nonprofits. I can see the possibilities of all features available, and since we're quite new to the online CRM world, we are able to slowly do this without the expense of paying fees while we get our feet wet. Looking forward to all that is to come!

You cannot beat free! For the level of service, constant improvements, support staff that is responsive and collaborative, we have been very pleased. Is it perfect? No - but again, their responsiveness makes it so you can tailor things to your needs. If they don't have a feature you need, they do consider it and crowdsource how other users feel about it, and it often is the case that others need it too. We aren't used to such behavior in nonprofit world - we are often told to deal with it and still pay up!
Nachteile:
We have used it most for our Auction gala this year. It was our first time doing such work completely online, and it went so well! There were some hiccups - some of that on our end as we had a learning curve as well. For the attendees - who ranged in age from 20s-80s, there was a struggle for the older crowd, but I hear this is the case for many who utilize any online platform. They felt the registration process and sustained connectivity were an issue. There were also some things we would have liked to control more around timing/closing of auction items and end reporting, but overall it was very usable.

Not a great fit for our live auction and raise the paddle
Vorteile:
Givebutter is free and generally easy to set up campaigns and accept donations.
Nachteile:
Halfway through our fundraising event, Givebutter made it extremely difficult to assign items and raise the paddle donations to our guests. As a result, we received a lot of criticism and ended up having to take payment on a different platform than Givebutter. Our event guests found accessing the online silent auction very difficult and confusing. Many users had trouble accessing the page as the Givebutter link sent them to a very weird website. As a result, we believe we lost a significant amount of donations the night of our event.

Give butter is a lot cheaper than other platforms which is very important for us when we fundraise. We need our funds to go directly to our schools and not to outside costs. The live display was a great feature to have in our front offices on display and helped keep the fundraiser enthusiasm up. Reports were also easy to pull.
Nachteile:
In the spring I use booster and that platform allows students to make a profile and have donations come in through their personal link. On the back end, for me it is very helpful because I can see the amount the class raised and the amount the students raised individually as well as who are participating. With this site I was able to create a mandatory box to ask donors who they were donating for but I had to go back in on my end and create a separate spread sheet to organize this information. It is very time consuming.

Thanks for this review! That's great feedback about the way you organized the donor's intended recipient. We'll definitely look at ways to simplify that going forward.
