Awesome colaboration tool

Kommentare: We use mattermost for team communication in presencial and remote job. We change from mail communication to chat communication

Vorteile:

Main features for us: easy use, on site option, boards and channels and easy API

Nachteile:

I would like Mattermost has better video and call options

Vorteile:

All teams in my organization use Mattermost; it unify us in one central repository.

Nachteile:

I shifted from Slack and I have never experienced any drawback on Mattermost.

Mid range product for internal comminications.

Kommentare: Overall Mattermost isn't a bad software. I use it every day. it saves my time and simplifies communications within the organization.

Vorteile:

Mattermost is easy to use. The colors of the software is pleasant. i like that i can use android version ass well.

Nachteile:

The software often freezes and requires restart. Sometimes pop-up notifications don't work properly and i miss some information.

In our entire construction agency, we rely on Mattermost on matters of web conferencing and BIM.

Nachteile:

Even though it synchronizes messages after connecting to the internet, it doesn’t support offline access.

What I Experience with Mattermost

I have never experienced a flaw on Mattermost which lasted for more than a day.

To conference through video calls it requires to be integrated with external apps.

Most Influential BIM Tool

Vorteile:

Mattermost allows me to connect with colleagues and customers via audio calls. Sending large files is another great aspect about this tool.

Nachteile:

There is nothing which I dislike about this program at the moment.

I like that Mattermost not only offer instant messaging tools but also allocate web conferencing capabilities.

Nachteile:

Searching keywords on chat doesn’t hide messages on private chats.

Mattermost Matters Most in Our Agency

Vorteile:

Video conferencing isn’t robust enough that’s why it demands to be integrated with external web conferencing systems like Zoom Meetings.

Kommentare: Project management and business instant messaging.

Vorteile:

Mattermost combines messaging and project management capabilities in one place.It has a robust backend integration feature, which boost it’s capabilities.Project coordination is another great thing about this tool.

Nachteile:

I do not like that Mattermost demands to be integrated with external web conferencing apps to boost video conferencing.

Make the Most of Mattermost

Kommentare: Between communications platforms, voice calls, emails, and texting, there are numerous ways to communicate with colleagues. My company decided to use Mattermost because it helps us avoid clogging up email when we have quick questions to ask or non-essential company-wide messages to send.

Vorteile:

My company has over 200 employees ranging multiple departments (from editorial to strategy to support) and offices. Mattermost helps us stay connected in a quick and efficient way because we can easily connect and disconnect from channels according to our business or personal needs. For example, I am part of a group that connects members of my immediate editorial team and other groups that connect my larger team, my support resources, and strategy team members. It helps me stay organized in my communications, and it's much easier than using email or texting to communicate quickly with people on a daily basis.

Nachteile:

Because my company is relatively large, we have dozens of channels on Mattermost. I sometimes find it difficult to find specific channels that I'm not already a part of, especially if I don't know the precise name of the channel or group. This sometimes ends up being a hindrance to what is typically quick and efficient communication. Nevertheless, I enjoy using Mattermost and would recommend it to other businesses.

Switched to Mattermost after using Slack extensively, but got sick of the 10000 message limit

Kommentare: A platform to discuss issues and feature ideas around our open source project, without cluttering up the threads on github. A great way to stay in touch with devs from all around the world.

Vorteile:

That we can host it ourselves, for one. We used to use the free tier of slack, but quickly discovered that the message limit was causing issues when we needed to recall conversations had in the past. It's been relatively hassle-free in getting it set up, and the whole team love it! One or two of us (myself included) were inspired to brush up on some of our coding skills when we discovered it didn't quite have the integrations that slack did, and as such have learned a lot about how Mattermost is put together, and how to create bots to get the information we need via webhooks. The Mattermost developers and community at large have been very helpful in answering questions when we've come up against issues, and I have even got a couple of my integrations featured on the integrations page of their website!

Nachteile:

Really, not a whole lot. Ideally I would like to be able to sign into multiple slack servers from the mobile app (though, the native app has really come along in leaps and bounds recently). The only thing I miss from the Slack days is a sidebar/widget that tells you the local times of the other users (handy when working with folk from overseas!), though we have recently developed our own slash command to return this information, it would be nice if it was built in to the server. I should probably feed this back to the devs.... ;)

A good alternative to Slack

Kommentare: We ended up looking for an alternative to Mattermost because of Slack's price-performance ratio and would switch again today.

Vorteile:

Mattermost is constantly being developed and you can tell that it's going further. In addition, as a collaboration tool, it provides the most important information. No more and no less.

Nachteile:

At the beginning (approx. 2018) it was still a bit unstable and some important features were still missing. This has gotten much better in 2022. Over the years, with many users, maintenance and upkeep should never be neglected. Otherwise it will be slow and have long loading times when changing channels etc. Plugins work, but not all are mature (e.g. Jitsi caused problems for us)

Best Slack alternative

Kommentare: It was our daily communication tool between the team. We used it to share information and discuss about initiatives. We used that tool during a non-pandemic period but I think it will probably be successful during the times being because of the increase of remote work. We finally decided to switch to Slack.

Vorteile:

It's an open source application that fits good when you also work with gitlab, with was our case. Its cost is considerable lower than Slack when having a lot of users. It fulfills its function, it allows you to communicate with your team just as you would with slack, and it has many integration plugins so you can connect it with many other apps.

Nachteile:

As a user I didn't see any problem using the application. It was usable and efficient enough. Mobile application was not so good at that moment, but the web app worked fine!

Great tool for internal communication / discussion

Vorteile:

Mattermost is my go-to tool when you want to discuss something with colleagues. Ability to create public/private channels and send private messages both work nice and easy.

Nachteile:

No so great for file sharing and doesn't work as a discussion tool outside your organisation.

Communicate with in the Organization

Kommentare: Overall my experience is good. I would not prefer to chat as DM but yes for a company it is good

Vorteile:

I like the most in it is a simple and easy-to-use platform within the company. People can make their channels and set the privacy of those channels which is a great thing

Nachteile:

I don't like the UI of the matter most its too simple. There should be graphics like skype or discord

Quickly ping a colleague!

Kommentare: It is easy to deploy among a large scale corporation, as my company has been using it for over 1 year. Previously we used Hipchat, which did not have as many features or functionality. I honestly cannot say enough about Mattermost

Vorteile:

Texting like platform creates a wonderful way to ping someone of your activities, needs, or simply to communicate. Excellent way to notify a coworker quite quickly without needing to move and converse. I love the ability to switch on and off the auditory aspect of the application. The group option is cool as well. With large companies, you can jump in and out of groups, such as "support" groups or "tech" groups to quickly answer pressing needs, and then jump back out.

Nachteile:

Simple integration into business- you just need a computer or smartphone/tablet to really utilize this software. There isn't anything I don't like about this product, very well used and liked by the whole company.

Slack substitute with similar features

Kommentare: I don't know about the overall cost, but I assume it costs less than Slack. Given that, it's not a bad alternative. I think it's main issues aren't so much limitations in functionality as just having a less user-friendly UI overall.

Vorteile:

honestly, the most use we get out of this product is having fun with the wide range of emojis you can add to posts as reactions

Nachteile:

There's something slightly less intuitive about the UI than similar competitors (i.e., Slack). Sometimes the search function in particular is confusing and could definitely be improved.

I run my own instance to chat with my friends since long time (40984 messages from ~15 users)

Kommentare: Better communication and project management, easy notifications and less mail exchange.

Vorteile:

In fact, I enjoy how data are linked by channel and hashtag, to plug it easily to integrate it w/ existent tools.

Nachteile:

Not a lot to say here, native gif integration is missing and more command to activate some sounds or i don't know.

A tool to consider!

Vorteile:

- Mattermost is intuitive to use and easy to implement in your company - It has a good amount of integrations

Nachteile:

- Not as many options for building bots, automations and intgrations as competitors - Mobile app only "okay" - Most other organizations are on Slack, so if using a tool across companies is an important use case, Slack is the better option

Almost really good.

Kommentare: Slack with AD integration at half the cost. But I still wish I could afford Slack.

Vorteile:

Slack integrations just work on Mattermost. The theme choices are very nice. The ability to host my own on-premises server is very nice. Technical support staff is very knowledgeable and competent. I'm not made to feel like an idiot if there is some specialized knowledge that I don't have.

Nachteile:

The Android client is extremely buggy and fairly slow still. Selecting a push notice to open Mattermost to view and respond in the thread does not always open the right thread and is always slow (even on LAN, with the latest gen of Android phone!)). The client MUST be snappy and it just.. isn't. The Windows client becomes slower and slower the longer you have it open, so it must be restarted every day or two. It's a little buggy; sometimes new messages make your view scroll up instead of down. But it works well enough most of the time.
