A wonderful product that offers real functionality for cloud based bankruptcy software.

Kommentare: Freed me from Windows software and all of the compromises that involves. Gives us the chance to be a 100% Macintosh office after many years of hybrid solutions.

Vorteile:

We are all really enjoying using NextChapter. I've uploaded a number of documents that we frequently download and use, including Client Service Agreements, Credit Counseling Instructions, Suggestions of Bankruptcy etc. We tried Cincompass about a year ago and hated it. We were with BestCase for over 10 years but were frustrated that there was no cloud solution for them. Then about 2 or so years ago BestCase announced they had a "cloud solution" which was really a Citrix virtual workstation. While Citrix "worked" it just added a whole layer of confusion and required training for my team; plus it did not have 100% uptime. Plus, it was very expensive, starting per month and almost per month as I added users. This was on top of the BestCase maintenance agreement, which also grew over the years. So NextChapter has been a great improvement for our firm.

Nachteile:

The software has a few growing pains (when compared with BestCase), and you do need to adjust your workflow a bit, but not too much. That's why I give 4 instead of 5 stars for Features & Functionality, but I expect it will continue to grow and improve.

NextChapter: Great Cloud-Based Bankruptcy Software!

Kommentare: The customer service team is very responsive and friendly. The software is intuitive and easy to learn, even for a paralegal with no bankruptcy experience.

Vorteile:

NextChapter is built from the ground up to be cloud based. I can use it anywhere that I can get access to the internet, even on a tablet or cell phone. I also like that they promise you will always have access to your clients' data, even if you quit subscribing to the software. I like the flow of data entry. NextChapter minimizes entering the same thing more than once.

Nachteile:

NextChapter does not allow you to store a Debtor's complete Social Security number or any document containing a Social Security number. This means you may have to re-input the Social Security number multiple times, increasing the chance of committing a data entry error.

Easy to use

Kommentare: While there have been bumps in switching software, overall it's been a smooth transition.

Vorteile:

NextChapter was really easy to get started with and the data entry is simple to use. The texting feature has been a real help with keeping in contact with clients as well. When we've had problems, customer service was quick to help resolve our issues.

Nachteile:

The biggest issue that we've had is the amount of time that it's taken get a case filed, but NextChapter has worked towards fixing that and made it easier.

Efficient Bankruptcy Software

Kommentare: The Cloud based system is awesome. While I used NextChapter the majority of the time my computer, I have been able to use my tablet or phone to get information about my client including docket documents that I did not have a hard copy with me. I also love the customer support. They are very receptive to not only answering questions, but also accepting suggestions of development improvements. Although not everyone of my requested changes have been made, many have.

Vorteile:

The product is very intuitive for data entry. There are very few instances of double entry. When you have a question, the online quickly identifies where you will put the data for a specific line on one of the bankruptcy form (like the means test) or you can speak with a person through the chat system. I love the fact that the pacer notices get added to the client's matter file. This has eliminated my costs for pacer when a filing would not be saved after viewing it.

Nachteile:

The Chapter 13 add on is not perfect. Making revisions to the Next Chapter Plan can be challenging. Having said that, I have never been happy with any Chapter 13 add on of any bankruptcy software I have used, including the leading product on the market. I have always found it is easiest to use the draft Word version of the plan provided by the Court. I think this task is difficult as each trustee likes having things done their way which no computer program can anticipate.

Great Cloud Option with Client Portal capability

Kommentare: Overall the program is good. We have completed 3-4 filings through this NextChapter.

Vorteile:

We really love and needed the cloud option, as the staff work remotely. The Client portal is a must, the clients have had no issues completing the information, and the data has had no issues populating the correct documents. Love the Petition check list that ensures all the information is complete before Petition Filing.

Nachteile:

Not too happy that only the initial filing of the petition can be done through the program. Would be nice if there was an easy way to integrate mail of documents to creditors, when needed. Local forms are not user friendly to complete, better off downloading Word versions from the Court's website. We ran into an issue where the Suite numbers of addresses were not included in the creditor matrix... due to the client's use of "#"... would be nice to have some type of warning, as it is a headache to fix with the court. Would be nice to be able to manage files of debtor cases we had prior to switching to Next Chapter, and/or matters where we represent a creditor.

Efficient bankruptcy software with cool tools and high-end customer service

Kommentare: It's been a positive experience; lots of efficiency gains.

Vorteile:

1. The ability to enter data to create statements and schedules. All bankruptcy-preparation software does this, but NextChapter is pretty good about (a) cross-populating schedules so you only have to enter data once, and (b) having default values for common items (sounds small, but saves a lot of time). 2. One-click bankruptcy filing. Naturally, you have to check and re-check your work before you're ready to file, but once you're ready, filing is a single click. Love it. 3. Texting clients and automatic text recipes. I can arrange for clients to automatically receive a text message on the day before the 341 meeting with the meeting date and time and common reminders. Cool, right? 4. All online. This is a big deal if I need to work on something from home or work on it with a paralegal. 5. Customer service really is high-end. I have used New Hope (bought by Best Case?) and Best Case, and NextChapter is on par.

Nachteile:

NextChapter is relatively young, so it's working out some minor bugs. Nothing big, though. I wish that when I selected an exemption, it would automatically populate the exemption to be the value of the asset. Obviously, an attorney has to check this, but it would save me a mouse-movement and a click. There are some smaller bugs dealing with filing (NextChapter won't file an omnibus signature page for me), but I can probably iron those out with their concierge team (just haven't gotten around to it yet).

Fantastic product!

Vorteile:

The best part about the software is the true cloud-based nature of it. Other bankruptcy products are not cloud based so working with a team remotely is impossible. NextChapter makes it easy.

Nachteile:

Honestly, I don't really have any issues with it.

Excellent option for web based bankruptcy preparation software

Vorteile:

NextChapter divides an excellent integration with our practice management software Clio and provides online access for the software to be used anywhere an Internet connection is available.

Nachteile:

We transitioned from best case to next chapter. Best case has a nice feature for analyzing the monthly decrease a client would need in gross income to qualify for the means test. The analysis breaks it out over one month, two months, three months, four months, five months, or six months. While certainly not a dealbreaker, it would be a nice feature to have.

NextChapter is Great

Kommentare: Every time I call into NextChapter my question is answered quickly and the issue resolved. I have had an awesome experience with NextChapter.

Vorteile:

I love the ease of entering information into the software.

Nachteile:

I dislike the treatment of a leased vehicle and the inability to put a monthly vehicle payment into Schedule J without having a vehicle on Schedule B.

NextChapter has improved my bankruptcy practice.

Kommentare: As a career BestCase user I was reluctant to switch, but after using NextChapter I wish I had switched sooner.

Vorteile:

The software is very easy to learn and use. My paralegal and I love the flow of the interface which make data entry smooth and easy. The customer service and tech support are super fast, friendly, and helpful.

Nachteile:

I have nothing bad to say about NextChapter.

New user

Kommentare: Great value and ease of use.

Vorteile:

Great cost if you're a practitioner who isn't filing a lot of cases. Relatively easy to use, but still working through differences from previously used software.

Nachteile:

Getting used to using NextChapter. Working through differences from previous software. Can usually figure out how different features work.

Next Generation Bankruptcy Software

Kommentare: After switching over to NextChapter, I did run into some issues with the software not properly filing certain aspects of the petition. Specifically, many of my clients opt to pay the court filing fee in installments, but seems NextChapter had not yet coded that feature for filings in my District (Arizona). After bringing it to the attention of customer support, their team worked to remedy the coding issue and ever since then it has been smooth sailing. Roughly 1 year into the software I opted to upgrade my subscription to include MyChapter, where clients can directly enter much of the information needed on the petition. This feature is much more convenient for my clients over filing out paper forms and is a huge time saver for me and has allowed me to continue operating as a truly solo practitioner (without the need to hire outside legal assistants) even during very busy months. On the few occasions that I have need to some customer service support, their team has been rapid in their responses and very pleasant to work with.

Vorteile:

I can access the software from anywhere in the world on virtually any device.

Nachteile:

Initially there was a learning curve after having used a competing bankruptcy software for over 8 years. After about 3 months of using the software I grew to prefer it over my previous software and have never looked back.

Great Software and Even Better Customer Service

Kommentare: My overall experience can best be summed up by saying Next Chapter's Customer Service is impeccable. I used to spend an hour or more to attempt to get issues fixed, and I can't say enough about how great Next Chapter is to work with. We can let them know if there is a problem, issue, or if I have a question about how something works. We get a quick response, and Next Chapter works with us to make sure the solution works not only within the software, but for us specifically. That alone would be enough for me to say "get this product!"

Vorteile:

I love that it is completely online, so our firm can access client information, court documents, and client documents from anywhere. The text feature is new for us and both the firm and our clients love it. Being able to set our own fields in a lot of different areas has been really nice, and something we did not have with our prior software. The court notices & calendar features are incredible. I go in and double-check the items, but I have never seen anything missing from the schedule. It's great to know when you can trust your software to get the job done!

Nachteile:

The biggest draw back is the inability to easily run reports on cases filed each month or download a list of all closed clients, etc. From time to time, we have minor issues with searching or loading, but Next Chapter works with us to resolve those issues as soon as possible.

Forced conversion, but very happy with the results.

Kommentare: The software program we utilized was purchased by NextChapter forcing our conversion. I had used the other product for years and wasn't very happy with the change. Once I started using NextChapter and I actually allowed myself to stop resenting the change, I found this program to be a delightful change of pace. If I have all required client documentation at my fingertips, I am able to complete a bankruptcy packet in a few hours instead of over the course of a few days. I didn't want to, but I love my NextChapter software. It has definitely made my day easier.

Vorteile:

The data input covers all the bases the first time around. Information is put in one time and is then populated into the required forms. When I did need a little help, I found the staff quite willing to answer my questions.

Nachteile:

I had to learn a whole new way to deal with data input. All of the questions a law firm is required to answer in order to complete the paperwork (forms) are in the software, however, if you're not paying close attention when you are new to the system, it is easy to overlook basic entry points and become very frustrated. Once you take the time to become conversant with the software, it is a dream to use.

When I click preview of the petition and see something wrong, I wish there was a feature that would take you exactly to the question that needs to be revised. Sometimes I just can't find where a certain response on the petition is drawn from.

Next Chapter bankruptcy software

Kommentare: Both ease of working the software and the customer support make the experience of using this software the best

Vorteile:

Fling cases is very easy. Creating, amending and modifying chapter 13 plan is great. I like the fact that is stores all documents filed with the court

Nachteile:

This a difficult question because I consider this software the best. Maybe the fact that you always have to save the expenses after the entry is complete

Best Software I've Used

Kommentare: I have been using Nextchapter for several years now, and they have always taken my suggestions and eventually the suggestions are usually integrated into the software. They have come a long way in such a short period of time. I used to use Bestcase, and in comparison Nextchapter is far superior to Bestcase in my opinion.

Vorteile:

I love the Cloud Based ability to use the software from anywhere and the fact that it saves my PACER notices for me.

Nachteile:

I would love to see more ability to use it through the app on my phone, like entering data while I am waiting for a court hearing or 341 hearing.

A Modern Program for the Modern Attorney

Kommentare: As with all change, it's been a learning experience! We are a very modern and innovative law practice dedicated to maximizing efficiency and technology. We know that our clients operate in a world of smart phones and the internet, and we want to their experience in hiring an attorney to fit right into that lifestyle. NextChapter has allowed us to do that. Our bankruptcy practice has been streamlined into two simple meetings with an attorney and interaction through the internet at the convenience of the client!

Vorteile:

Utilizing the Debtor Portal has allowed me to completely cut out an "input meeting" and save precious paralegal and attorney time. Not only are clients inputting the information that they themselves are most familiar with, they are also scanning in documents that we otherwise would've scanned. The layout of the program is modern and very user-friendly.

Nachteile:

There are still kinks that pop up once in a while, but the team at NextChapter is always ready and willing to fix them in a timely manner.

NextChapter is accessible and reliable

Kommentare: Easy to use and keep updated from work or my home office, or my assistant's home office.

Vorteile:

It is conveniently accessible at home or at the office for me and my assistants. It is reasonably priced. It helps keep the requested information consistent and accurate. The customer service is very responsive to my requests.

Nachteile:

Some of the data entry is counter-intuitive. Where you expect to put in dependents, income and expense, sold property and preference payments based on the official forms, in this software they are entered in connection with family, current assets and creditors. Once you learn where to input the data, it works fine. I wish the credit reports with their integration included judgment information.

Vorteile:

This software is very user friendly. Should I have any problems, [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is extremely knowledgeable with the program and always eager to help!

Nachteile:

Some of the customer service representatives that I have dealt with are not as knowledgeable of the program and one left me with an unresolved problem for almost a week. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] was able to fix the problem the same day that I brought it to her attention.

Bankruptcy Software

Kommentare: It's been helpful for me to take care of the filings myself, without administrative support

Vorteile:

Easy to use and repeats data entries that are common for most filings, which saves my time

Nachteile:

Bankruptcy filings are way down and the software is fairly expensive when there are fewer filings

I love NextChapter

Kommentare: Very positive, especially for a Mac user.

Vorteile:

I love that this product is all web based. It makes it easy to use from home or even traveling. I always have my clients’ information with me. It also is very intuitive and kept up to date. The customer service has been very helpful when I needed it. They also have quite a few help articles and videos to work through any issues.

Nachteile:

I have nothing negative to say, everything has been great. I have used a lot of bankruptcy software over the years and this has been the best experience.

The software is easy to use. It's mostly self explanatory but there are hundreds of recourses available if you get stuck. It's easy to play with the settings so the documents always turn out the way you want. I you do ever get stuck the customer support is on point. I don't believe I have submitted a request that has taken longer than a couple short hours to resolve.

Nachteile:

it is a baby program, so there are a couple little bugs that pop up occasionally, usually they are fixed by doing site maintenance which slows business down a little but not too much time is wasted.

Quality platform for preparing bankruptcy petitions and schedules.

Vorteile:

Easy to use; current forms availability; one of the first companies to offer a remote site to prepare filings.

Nachteile:

There is the usual learning curve to understand how the information posted gets used in the forms. Also, the forms need further tweaking to make sure all the info that is posted makes its way into the form. But NextCahper is always improving the forms and welcomes input.

NextChapter Review

Vorteile:

There have been good updates on the credit report integration. The software is relatively user friendly and has helpful instructions. The preview feature is great as well as being able to download drafts. I like the ease of filing amendments as well.

Nachteile:

There have been issues with the chapter 13 plan which are usually resolved by reloading the page several times. Some features are not yet available for the district in which I practice. I would like to see more additional documents able to be uploaded along with the Petition.
