Very nice software

Kommentare: I have been a designer for more than 20 years know and I am using at work NX, Creo and Catia for ICE development and now battery systems. I think FreeCAD is getting there and I really like it. Designing is similar to the packages above: datums, sketches, extrudes, revolves, rounds etc. I don't think I would be able to design a cylinder head with it (all drafts etc) without having major problems, but it is getting better and better. I am using FreeCAD at home for designing stuff for my 3D printer and that really rocks. Please support the FreeCAD team. They deserve it!!!

Vorteile:

Easy to learn, similar to other main design software like Creo, NX or Catia.

Nachteile:

It is still being developed. Not all the functionality you're used to designing with other software is already implemented.

FREECAD

Kommentare: The most powerful features of Free CAD is the scripting environment. It was easy to create objects in the 3D scene and access and also modify your projects in the FreeCAD interface of the software.

Vorteile:

The most attractive feature is that it is free to use I am not very good at designing 3D projects but Free Cad seems to be for me a good platform to teach myself. There are other free design software out there but this one seems to have a lot of features for a free version I like the ease of use for a free open source program the menu items are well layed out

Nachteile:

There are some limited features but for free open source it is not bad. Python scripting I think takes a little patience getting used to but once you catch on it goes pretty smooth for a beginner.

Extraordinary 3D CAD functionality for FREE, yet you need to invest time to master it.

Kommentare: This is a fully functioning free download that is probably worth the effort to learn (I'm still learning it). I have over 30 years experience using various other CAD systems, yet still need to get over the learning hurdle with this system to feel comfortable using it.

Vorteile:

Surprisingly powerful and visually similar to other 3D CAD modelers. I was able to import an IGES assembly from another mid-range system without any issues. Although I was not able to then modify the assembly. A good number of tutorials are available on YouTube.

Nachteile:

Functions are similar to other products, yet to me, it is not intuitive and requires investing more time to learn. The icons do not look as elegant as more premium systems, yet what can you expect for a FREE program that people worked hard to create on their own dime.

Great Service to Learn CAD

Kommentare: I've only been using FreeCAD for a short time, so I'm by no means an expert, but I've seen that this is a great software and I donated to its development because of that. The community that uses FreeCAD is always helpful and the resources available for learning are plentiful. I feel like more was available for this than some other professional products simply because of the wide community adopment.

Vorteile:

FREE Opensource and well documented for those who like to tinker stl file generation for 3d printing powerful for a free software and not limited to simply the basics abundance of learning material between youtube and forums many users to bounce questions of off

Nachteile:

Very steep learning curve for a beginner UI is clunky, but once you get used to it its not so bad Users need to watch tutorials on how to use it for about the same amount of time they work on a project to use the software

CAD software provides a good opportunity for rendering different models of houses and buildings.

Vorteile:

In comparison with other AutoCad softwares,it is one of the different version software. We can make 3 D drawing through this software at different angles of projection which is is indeed the most fantastic feature. This software is used by everyone whether students or professionals but proved to be helpful to everyone.

Nachteile:

Sometimes when we are updating modules, at that time some of the modules are not updated. So we feel that they will update in next versions of software. The learning curve of this software is quite difficult for the new users. For this sometimes some users have to take CAD classes in order to have good command on the usage of this particular software.

FreeCAD, efficiency in 2D and 3D drawing

Kommentare: I do design 2D and 3D drawings with this software which makes it my favourite,cause I make use of it everyday.

Vorteile:

I loved everything about this software,the ease of use is just too easy for me.

Nachteile:

Absolutely nothing,this is perfect software for 3D designs.

FreeCAD in My School

Kommentare: Excelent my students are learning the basic features of 3D Drawing and modeling without AutoCad use

Vorteile:

The price is so easy and you can use all the Features in the software for a Basic Draw

Nachteile:

The simulations are not always allowed in all the computers I think that is something to improve

Best 3D editing and visualization tool

Kommentare: Was able to see the drawings for my Project and edit them and again render them to the 3D images.

Vorteile:

Digital drawing has been made very easy with the use of the extensive features of the software. It helps students like me to understand the 3D drawings and their meaning in a very subtle way. One can easily learn the software and could try creating 3D images in the very first week.

Nachteile:

The recent software that I used, requires some minimal hardware configurations to render the images. So, buy a new system or else it is not for you. The snap options sometimes is adamant and won't let you decide what point you may want to take. One of the 3D functions I think is irrelevant.

In my experience it's the best 2D/3D CAD software. I use this software to design electrical circuits

Vorteile:

Its very user-friendly and on top of all its free, and also does not use too much system memory. With an average PC you can easily run multiple tasks while working on this software, without worrying about usage of system memory. The program is simple and not too much complicated and has all the great tools, so many people can take advantage and use it with more ease.

Nachteile:

The features of this software are too limited and selection of add-ons can also be improved. But as its for free so one can live with these little flaws. But if new features can be added, it will make this software perfect for work.

I switched to freecad and I found it good enough for my work project

Kommentare: I use freecad to model my complex mechanical component parts, and 3d print them.

Vorteile:

The 3d design/ modelling is quite exciting. Freecad is easy to use. And it integrates well

Nachteile:

They use different (but similar) names than what I am used to in their 3d comands but I could understand them right away. And they are all working fine.

More than what you pay for

Kommentare: I use FreeCAD to design/integrate enclosures, and create mockups for internal use. It can't compete with SolidWorks, which I use for client work, but of course SolidWorks can't compete on the price.

Vorteile:

As its name implies, the software is free. The active community has done a lot of great work in creating a fully-functional CAD program, with many industry-standard drafting tools and a plethora of optional add-ons.

Nachteile:

Unlike other modern free and open-source programs (for example, KiCad), the focus has not been on the user interface. As a result, many operations are awkward and perhaps even tedious to perform. Additionally, the native rendering capability isn't great; the displayed objects look like they're stuck in the 1980s

Freecad, 3d drawing for beginners.

Kommentare: When I started 3D printing, I needed software to get started. So I discovered freecad which helped me to realize my very first markets.

Vorteile:

I like the simplicity of his workshop Parts . Which thanks to known shapes allow to realize new shapes.

Nachteile:

What I hate the most are the bugs of this software, usually it leads to start the design from scratch.

My FreeCAD review

Kommentare: I mostly use it for my file conversion needs. It detects some important (not much) type of file extensions in the 3d industry. Since all major paid softwares have a kind of free usage option, FreeCAD has a limited user ecosystem rather than others.

Vorteile:

FreeCAD is a free software you can design everything in 3D. This is a lightweight (not consumes PC's cappacity so much) software you can use in your projects.

Nachteile:

The software has not sculpting feature. Besides, it has a poor interface design.

Easy and free 3D cad software

Vorteile:

It’s free and it’s very easy to use. And the best thing is that it runs on Mac! You can creat a 3D model from a 2D, and a 2D from a 3D.

Nachteile:

I like everything about this software, since I never had any problem with it and it’s enough for what I need

Perfect tool for engineering

Vorteile:

The Path Module is awesome I can see how the mecanichals process of the cars and electricity circuits works and know how I need to add to modify some aspects make them to work betters, this module has tools for dressup, commands and modifications, very useful to modelling with precision all the processes of a machine.

Nachteile:

In the beggining ii ts very difficult to handle, becuase you have so many tools available and you do not know where to start, but with some practice you can manage all the features easily.

Low Cost Parametric CAD and Blueprinting

Kommentare: Very satisfied. It did what I needed it to do for a super reasonable price.

Vorteile:

I was doing some quick prototyping of a new product and needed a CAD/drafting package. I started with the free version of FreeCAD and found it fully functional, with all the features and options that I needed. Once I learned the system upgrade was the logical choice.

Nachteile:

I found the environment difficult to learn and not intuitive, however, I am not experienced in this area, being a chemical engineer not a mechanical engineer which I am sure would have been much more comfortable. I needed to generate the drawing for some manifolds that we needed to import into Computational Fluid Dynamics.

Free CAD for 3D printing

Vorteile:

I really enjoy using FreeCAD. It's a great piece of software that allows me to create detailed 3D models with precision and ease. I love that it's open-source, which means that it's constantly being updated and improved by a dedicated community of users.

Nachteile:

One thing I dislike about FreeCAD is that it can be a bit slow at times. When working with large models or assemblies, it can take a while for the software to respond to my commands, which can be frustrating. I also find that the rendering can be slow, which can make it difficult to visualize my designs in real-time.Another thing I don't like about FreeCAD is that it can be a bit buggy. I've experienced occasional crashes and other issues that can be frustrating. While these issues are not common, they can be disruptive when they do occur.

Great program for any designer or architect!

Vorteile:

I was skeptical about this program at first but it really grew on me. I had a bit of a learning curve learning the macros and functions, but once you re-program yourself to acclimate to this program it's really a breeze.

Nachteile:

Only con would be that there are other programs that are performing at a little higher rate with a bit more exposure. I had to do some searching for reviews and tutorials on this product to get myself in tune with it.

It has some various complex architectural techniques to execute. Some procedures require programming.

An excellent option to 3D desing

I really like the high quality of the software and its philosophy to make accessible useful functionalities to CAD designers, professionals and students.

Nachteile:

Although free access is one of its great strengths, the software has useful and quite limited tools. However, this does not prevent this software from standing out as one of the best options for simple range designs.

New User

Kommentare: Being a new user, I have so far enjoyed using FreeCAD. It is perfect for the small projects that I need it for.

Vorteile:

FreeCAD has everything and more that you could ask for from a free modeling software. I needed to model a backyard project and this software has been perfect for a project that size. I have a little bit of experience with other modeling software, and FreeCAD seems to follow a similar structure making it not difficult to find what I am looking for most of the time.

Nachteile:

I am using FreeCAD on a Mac OS. Most of the limited in-software help info is Windows specific, making it difficult because tools can be in different places. I have had to turn to the user forum for a few items which is very helpful.

The best thing about FreeCAD is, it's free. If you need a drafting tool, get this one. It’s also great to learn what CAD is, and how it can help you draft.

Nachteile:

So the only bad thing about this software is the good thing about this software....it's free. It just doesn’t have all the tools you need.

Powerful and Robust 3D CAD modeler

Kommentare: We use this tool for our 3D modeling needs especially in product design department.

Vorteile:

Robot Simulation, Sketcher features are quite good. If you know python, its python in-built interpreter allows you to explore lot of things.

Nachteile:

Interface could be improved a bit. Apart from that, its good.

Very good opensource and free program

Kommentare: Free and open sourced.

Vorteile:

Always updating to improve and simplify the usage. Easy to use for beginners. Can easily use what is the workbench to upload it.

Nachteile:

There is no load analysis in it. There is no motion analysis . some workbenches is tooo heavy to work in the device.
