Easiest way to have a private cloud ready to use
MKE provides a solution that works well with Docker Swarm and Kubernetes. It enabled our corporation to transition from Swarm to k8s in a few steps. Besides that, the complexity of the Kubernetes setup is hidden with a well-prepared installer. Upgrades are also easy to be performed.
There are a lot of tools and services ready to install in the cluster, using Helms and other stuff. That means, it would be great to have some kind of Marketplace to select possible products to "install" in the cluster.
MSR (formerly DTR)
This software provides an enterprise solution with a secure, private registry for storing docker images.
The most missing thing continues to be the documentation. We needed their support for the initial rollout a few years back, and also recently with an upgrade to the product.
Better Options Exist
Kommentare: Mirantis seems to be a company that's really trying to improve this product, but they're under a really heavy support load from all the issues that it has.
Some of the advantages Mirantis offers include are permissions management for multiple users, clear organization for nodes and other components, SAML support for SSO, and a UI for viewing these different pieces in one place.
The stability of the software is quite poor. We've expereinced issues with basic patching/reboots, upgrades, rapidly consuming disk space, and requiring a sort of "kick the tires" approach to getting it back to a "running" state after something has gone wrong and it fell over.
AT&T Network Cloud Distribution and Support
Kommentare: Been an overall good relationship.
Open source and the distribution is flexible to meet our unique needs.
Proactive vulnerability identification of products in use and patched distribution readiness prior to request would be a nice upgrade.
Mirantis Kubernetes Engine formerly Docker Enterprise
Kommentare: OK so far.
Docker swarm mode. Docker cross host commands in the cluster
Lack of IPv6 for docker swarm mode. Lack of CEPH storage driver for docker swarm and kubernetes.
Kommentare: Mirantis is a good product for customers who are looking to implement microservices based application on-premise with vendor support for the containerisation product, even though the license is very expensive.
Very useful for on-premise containerised environment with vendor support. Support Kubernetes
Not very elastic in terms of usage of license (Pay as you go) and for on-premise auto-scaling (As cluster autoscaler is not supported)
