Crowd translation made simple

Kommentare: Several of my clients use Crowdin to localize their video games into multiple languages. Apart some issues with string formatting so far our experience have been pretty smooth. We definitely plan on continuing working in Crowdin.

Vorteile:

Great built-in CAT tool that makes it super easy to work assigned strings and localizable segments. User interface is pretty straightforward and is not bloated with unnecessary features like in some other tools of this kind.

Nachteile:

Some recent changes in navigation menu made it a bit more difficult to navigate through project (especially when the project is multilingual.

Dynamic, stable and friendly

Kommentare: Crowdin helps us gather translations from our community quickly and easily. All translators immediately know how it works, because the Editor speaks for itself. This means we always have quality translations available for each app update. We're currently making the switch to Crowdin Enterprise, as its extended set of features suit us better. Crowdin offers (free) plans for open-source projects, so we don't have to worry about finances. We're having a hard time understanding why Enterprise is separate from normal Crowdin, but they both work great nevertheless.

Vorteile:

Crowdin's core features are incredibly easy to use. With a big variety of settings and options, every project and profile is very customisable and dynamic. Last but certainly not least, Crowdin has an awesome support team. They're continuously helping users get the most out of the product and always looking for solutions on a per-case basis.

Nachteile:

Some settings menus are a bit confusing. You'd expect some options to be found somewhere else. Additionally, the developers tend to be a bit slow adding features requested by the community. Some feature requests have been opened for a long time. The support agents do make up for this, though, and they always manage to find alternative solutions.

User-friendly localization tool

Kommentare: Overall, it has been a smooth experience. The platform is easy to operate and it provides reliable resources, such as context and TM. Recommended!

Vorteile:

I liked the fact that it is intuitive and easy to use. One can easily understand its features and resources and get to work right away in a crowdsourcing environment. The context feature provides great assistance in understanding the meaning and the possibility of using a glossary makes it all better and consistent throughout the projects.

Nachteile:

From my experience, not a lot of projects include glossaries. I don't know if this is a feature that is less advertised or if it is merely the client's choice. The terms that appear in the glossary should be possible to insert in the text just by typing the initial letters of the word.

Crowdin is the greatest tool for translation in digital environments and documents

Kommentare: I met with this software several years ago by volunteering on a project on a classroom management software translation job. It was a pleasure to see that software automatically creates strings from the bulks of the code and in the eyes of a translator it is a privilege to have multiple translators on single project provided with the tools to translate in a common way. Through all years Crowdin keep its original forms adding more tools and integrations. Through my career I have worked with the software in 4 different institutions and every time I suggested this solution to my administrators, they liked the idea and the way the software uses. Nowadays apart from software I am exploring the capabilities of the software on document translation. For the last year our team has completed over 250.000 of words and every project cycle has been completed way before deadlines. Even with PDF files, system has its own way of transforming files to the strings which is way more comfortable than transforming them using the tools.

Vorteile:

It is the most complete solution that can be found for translation purposes, Collaboration tools like Translation Memory, Machine translation, glossary and comments make it a complete solution for a single or infinite number of translators, and the size of the project does not matter. Also, there is a vast database of helpful translators for open source projects. And amazing response times of helpdesk is very crucial.

Nachteile:

WordPress integration is one of the missing features that would be great to see in the near future.

Best localization platform

Vorteile:

Crowdin is the most feature-rich of the localization platforms out there. Just as important, it has the best online translation editor for translators. The problem with most localization platforms these days isn't which formats they support or any other engineering feature -- it's that the online translation part is so slow that your translators don't want to use it. Crowdin is the ONLY platform our translators actually enjoy using. That makes it a win-win. Also the customer support is excellent.

Nachteile:

This is nitpicky but we run a lot of projects and would like to archive "old" source files without deleting them. Also the way it manages duplicates is not ideal, but we haven't found a platform that does a better job so it's hard to complain.

Amazing tool for localization

Kommentare: I am more than happy working with Crowdin. It is really easy to use, intuitive, it has a lot of features to help you work more efficiently in less time and it even includes a small place for comments between colleagues. Simply the best.

Vorteile:

The feature that I like the most it is the TM. It works perfectly, you can search any word or phrase and the system will check in all projects to find the match. This way you can easily have consistency among your files. You can also leave comments in any string and even tag someone when you need something to be checked. You will receive a notification on your email when getting tagged. The software will also recommend similar translations for each phrase, that makes the translator job easier and faster. And it helps to avoid translating similar phrases into different expressions.

Nachteile:

The only thing I would change is the 'approved' feature. This is used when someone checks and approves certain string, but it would be great if the check mark could have different colors depending on the user that approves it. This way it could be checked by different users until the final version is ready to download.

Kommentare: All-in-one localization project management platform which can save you lots of money.

Vorteile:

We tried other localization project management platforms in the past, but Crowdin makes the difference. The best feature is that it tracks repetitive lines of text each time when we submit our files for translation so they don't count for translation points over and over again. This only feature saves us a lot of money. The support is very responsive on Skype and lots of translators available all the time.

Nachteile:

I wish they could simplify the user interface as I had some issues in the beginning when I tried to set up the environment.

Crowdin for translation proejcts

Kommentare: My overall experience was good because it was easy to use and the TM suggestions together with different machine translations included which can make a difference when translating sentences of 2-3 words like for an APP.

Vorteile:

I recently (about 6 months ago) was invited to translate a project for a company in the telecommunications area (mobile phone and IT features) using Crowdin and had a very good experience. It was very easy to use, after concluding a set automatically could translate the next one without needing to go back to home page and it also offered TM suggestions which made the work easier.

Nachteile:

What I liked the least was that I needed to write comment in every segment I had a question to the project manager so she could check it. As there were no segment numbers I found it repetitive and it took a lot of time to just write a lot of comments and when I got a comment again need to answer within the platform.

Good software to manage translations for a product

Kommentare: I would really recommend it if you need a software to keep track of your translations.

Vorteile:

I liked that we could see what translations are new/changed. Before we used Crowdin there was no way to know what words are still in need to be translated. Also the integration with version control (Bitbucket) is a big plus to automate things.

Nachteile:

The setup of the integration is sometimes a bit difficult. It's also not that easy to manage user over different projects, you have to add them to every project one by one...

Great tool for managing our localization resources!

Kommentare: I've been using the product for years, and will continue to do so! Everything from the integrations with codebases, to the UI for doing translations is great!

Vorteile:

I love the integration with Github actions. Having our translation source files sync with our code repos is amazing!

Nachteile:

The process of adding screenshots for context is pretty good, but it would be nice to be able to easily add screenshots from the translation UI, or include screenshots as part of the comments section during the translation process.

Vorteile:

Absolutely amazing product! it really improves the efficiency of the work (time and effort wise). i'm absolutely in love with the fact that the system will show you previous translations of the same word/sentence done by you or other translators in the project, and this is how consistency will be preserved easily no matter how long or complicated the work is, which is very critical and much needed. I also like that translators can Up- or Downvote translations when translators provide different ones for the same word in the same language.

Nachteile:

i think it would be great if you can select the events, on which you want to be notified per email. and not just either not receive email notifications at all or get notified on every single project activity (which can be really frustrating in the case of really big teams and multiple languages). maybe we should be able to sort notifications not only by project but also by language.

Perfect solution for translation projects

Kommentare: I have been working on various project in Crowdin and I particularly enjoy the pleasant aspect of the interface as well as the ease it offers for communicating with other users working on the same projects.

Vorteile:

The memory translation offers valuable insights regarding content that has already been translated previously

Nachteile:

The main menu for each project is slightly confusing The interface leaves room for mistake between different users on a same project

Kommentare: The proofreading was divided in strings, you can work on it, leave it and return whenever you want.

Vorteile:

It's a very easy to use platform, in which you can access the job you are assigned, process the information, translate or proofread, all very intuitive an easy going

Nachteile:

I can't tell anything I have disliked about this platform, it's been very useful for me and my customer.
