Best localization platform

Vorteile:

Crowdin is the most feature-rich of the localization platforms out there. Just as important, it has the best online translation editor for translators. The problem with most localization platforms these days isn't which formats they support or any other engineering feature -- it's that the online translation part is so slow that your translators don't want to use it. Crowdin is the ONLY platform our translators actually enjoy using. That makes it a win-win. Also the customer support is excellent.

Nachteile:

This is nitpicky but we run a lot of projects and would like to archive "old" source files without deleting them. Also the way it manages duplicates is not ideal, but we haven't found a platform that does a better job so it's hard to complain.

Vorteile:

UI for managing projects and perform translations/proofreading is very good. Activity section is also very useful.

Nachteile:

As of purchasing translation UI - it's not always intuitive and can be improved.

A complete service for your app

Vorteile:

Crowdin was simple to setup, the UI is very simple and it has a lot of feature. Support always been here via chat when I needed some help. There are a few issue sometimes but overall it's a very complete, robust and useful tool for i18n in our web app

Nachteile:

It is a bit hard to understand some complex flow and correct implementation with Crowdin. Like it would be very helpful to have some better documentation and explanation of the flow suggested by crowdin.

A good platform!

Vorteile:

As a UX designer, Crowdin has been a game-changer for our team. We use it to translate our software into multiple languages and fine-tune wordings. It makes it easy for us to manage translations and collaborate with our team and external translators. The integration with our workflow is seamless, saving us a lot of time. The support also has been wonderful.

Nachteile:

Some parts of the interface could be more intuitive. But you get used to it quickly.

I don't have any problems with it. It's one of my favorite cat tools.

Makes app localisation much easier

Kommentare: We update our translations a few times per years. Having to pay an expensive subscription just to keep our translations on the server is not very exciting.
Except for this, is a great product.

Vorteile:

It is supported by a large community, it has a intuitive UI and tools to integrate the workflow with github.

Nachteile:

The pricing for organizations is pretty high, it can be unreasonably expensive for small companies.

Kommentare: Overall the editor panel is smooth and without latency

Vorteile:

The side-to-side panel and bulk approval button, they are helpful when you have over 100 pages of strings to review.

Nachteile:

1. It needs you to remove the approved string before you can update it, otherwise the system will overwrite the updated string with the approved one, even when the updated ones are saved and double-approved. 2. The bulk change function should keep the modifications in a new filter/section instead of keeping them with those to be reviewed/approved, the reason is that bulk-changed strings should be assumed as "checked/examined", keeping those together will cause confusion if no comment is left by the reviewer to single out those changed strings, but to single out overly repetitive strings, one also must click and open that string in a new page, imagine there are over 10 strings to be bulk-changed, you get the idea.

Crowdin is a great value for large scale crowdsourced project

Kommentare: Overall our experience with Crowdin has been great, their customer service team is very friendly and helpful! Our translators enjoy using it and the only complaints I've heard have been occassional speed issues, but we're not sure if that was their own connectivity issues or Crowdin issues. My only complaint from an administrators standpoint is that it is very difficult to have any sort of feature requests addressed, so unless the request is already on their roadmap or is shared by their much larger clients, it probably won't happen.

Vorteile:

Crowdin is a huge cost savings compared to our previous software. We don't pay per translator access which is essential for crowdsourced translations and we only hit our string maximum after 5 years. The editor works well on a mobile device, which is key for volunteer translators to be able to contribute whenever they have time and does not exclude those who can only get online through their phones. Editor is robust and they're always adding great apps to add even more functionality. Project management is very simple as file progress/status is easy to track.

Nachteile:

We would love for translators to see the status of their language for each project from their Profile view, so that they don't have to click into each project in order to see which one has work to be done. We also have needs for some of our volunteers to manage the permission of others, which was a feature when we started with Crowdin, but they removed this feature 2+ years ago and we're still waiting for new permissions to come out to help solve this problem. I would love to see more fine tuned controls for Machine Translation integration. Right now if you wanted to use different engines for each language pair you're not able to do that.

Vorteile:

User friendly interface, easy to launch and start working on the project. Regular research and development in the field of AI and machine translation.

Nachteile:

Crowdin releases a lot of new features, but sometimes it feels like these functions are not fully ready. From time to time there are bugs and problems in the basic functionality (TM, glossaries, document import)

Great for video games localization

Kommentare: We use Crowdin for big video game translation project (translation of 600k words to 5 languages with more than 100 translators). It's the best platform for teams of all sizes. In our case, one language was prepared in-house, and the rest are being prepared by volunteers. The online editor helps to coordinate all the efforts and communicate with everyone in the project. API and CI/CD integration helped a lot as we can deliver automated daily builds of the game with current state of translation and therefore QA team is embedded into the process from the very beginning.

Vorteile:

Fast and simple but powerful online editor, so the team can just focus on translating, proofreading and communication only by using the editor. Very good management of source files - possiblities to API and CI/CD integration, especially useful for big teams. Machine translation integration for engines like Google Translate or DeepL. Intuitive pricing plans. Fast customer support.

Nachteile:

For some users the online editor was too complex. There could be a new editor mode with very simple UI and only basic features.

dm meets Crowdin

Kommentare: At dm-dogerie markt, we fully utilize Crowdin to translate and keep our online shop as well as our app up to date in 14 languages. Over 250 people have access to the platform. Additionally, other departments such as ERP and logistics also utilize Crowdin for their processes. Security has been a crucial aspect for us, which is why we greatly appreciate the availability of Single Sign-On (SSO) and System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM).

Vorteile:

fast and easy translations for over 250 users in the corporation

A simple overview of which teams a user is a part of.

Useful for everyone

Kommentare: I have started using Crowdin few years back to help translate so many apps to my native language and make it more easy-to-use then. Since then I started to love this because of its easy, clear and fast using among all the projects, translations etc. I dont like other services that are used for translating to be honest! This is 10/10!

Vorteile:

I really love listing all the translations as a one, because some other webs that devs are using for translations, have all in one strings, which is annoying and finding new ones is even more annyoing there. Here in crowdin? Easy and fast. Also searching new or old strings is fast and easy, too!

Nachteile:

I have found anything bad about Crowdin to be honest.

Kommentare: My overall experience with Crowdin is very good, as I have gained knowledge in Tamil Grammar, which Amazon, Bing and Google never teach. It is the only platform which teaches grammar in Tamil while translating (when there is a grammar mistake. It tells exactly just like Tamil Pandit.

Vorteile:

I improved my translation becoz I have learned a lot fro Crowdin particularly in Grammar and Spell Check.Crowdin is a great platform for those who wants to keep the translation services as their career, that too free of cost. The more assignments you do the more refined your translation.

Nachteile:

Once in a while, the translator who does the review free of cost, crowdin should send a note appreciating the time spent by them. I never have received any such mail, except this one.

A good product to get both CES and CSAT

Vorteile:

Easy to set up new flows, as we evaluate several processes separately and start it based on events, it is very important for us that we don't spend too much time implementing the evaluation of the new processes using CES.

Nachteile:

Not many. Sometimes could be easier to understand some configurations, but when you have learned it, it works.

Great translation platform, legendary support

Kommentare: We have used Crowdin to manage translations of our software and our whitepaper. Now we're looking at translating our documentation too. We crowd sourced the translations to 30+ languages by nearly 100 translators so far. Thanks to the GitHub integration, our open-source software codebase is continuously synchronized with our Crowdin project across versions. Finally, we have leveraged the Webhok and Crowdin APIs to build a fine-grained integration with our product, which will allow us to further gamify and incentivize translations.

Vorteile:

Good UX, excellent support, great integration capabilities, and supports all kinds of translation workflows.

Nachteile:

Because it's so powerful, it has a lot of settings that can be intimidating to administrate.

Easy and Intuitive

Kommentare: My experience with Crowdin is extremely positive and I believe Crowdin is the best platform for localization of video games and websites.

Vorteile:

Crowdin's interface is very user-friendly, it looks good and is easy to use. The tools provided are sufficient for a good quality translation and using them is very intuitive.

Nachteile:

The spell checker could be improved to include a wider range of words. I feel like it would also be useful to integrate corpora of different languages into the website and allow users to search through them when they are in doubt of which words would work best for the translation.

Translation with Crowdin

Vorteile:

Crowdin provides enough instruments for translation such as searching/filtering, comparing different languages, machine translation, translation database, description section for concepts. Moreover, it is so easy to use these features. I was able to adapt myself even on first use.

Nachteile:

As I emphasized previously, spell checking feature is not enough for translation activity. Developing of the spell checking for all languages -if it is possible- could be helpful for translators and editors.

Kommentare: My overall experience with Crowdin was exquisite. If you want to be the best, you have to work with the best tools in translations. Crowdin is the best tool when you want to make a good translation.

Vorteile:

I worked 10 years for Onehourtranslation.com (Blend.com). I was amazed by how simple it was to translate a text from one language to another using Crowdin. Crowdin was made by Blend to deliver fast and accusrate translations using artificial intelligence. There were a lot of translators using Crowdin for performance and because of the ease of use. When it comes to fast and accurate translations Crowdin is the best.

Nachteile:

There are no cons when you use Crowdin. Maybe the fact that you have to use it at least one or two weeks to get a good grasp of its commands and how it works best.

Great Collaboration Tool for Translators

Vorteile:

Crowdin sends email messages with links that take me directly to the new strings needing translated. It’s very easy to communicate and collaborate with the team if I have questions or notes for them.

Nachteile:

As an end user, I would like to be able to find recent strings I reviewed. Once I’ve translated a group of strings and delete the email with the link, I can never find that group of strings again (unless someone comments and I get another email). Perhaps a dashboard section could be added that has links to the most recent strings reviewed.
