Kommentare: CMDB solution part of the ServiceNow Instance that helps the organization to consolidate in a single system of record all the benefits of having the main applications of the ITSM side totally integrated.

Vorteile:

As part of the ServiceNow Instance the ServiceNow CMDB is totally integrated to the main application of the ITSM side helping the support staff to related any issue (request, incident, problem, or change) to a particular CI previosly registered in the CMDB. You can record the CIs and their relationship in order to check how was deployed in the company infrastructure an specific CI and check the Impact of having a incident, problem or change related to this Configuration Item. You can populate the CMDB using differents approachs, The graphical representation on the CI and their relationships.

Nachteile:

Have some high cost concern when you try to implement discovery tools for automatic cmdb population.

Single Source of truth

Kommentare: We maintain all our servers and databases and customers in extended tables from CMDB which helps to maintain our data integrity

Vorteile:

Easy of use, everything is a table in ServiceNow and CMDB is no exclusion which makes it super easy to understand and relate things to. Single source of truth which can visualize you all the strings attached to an item in CMDB

Nachteile:

Things are not so easy to operate at scale Performance especially degrades a bit as your CMDB grows and scales in size

Kommentare: ServiceNow's CMDB application is robust and flexible if not a little to unwieldy at times when looking to customize functionality.

Vorteile:

Works very will with most discovery tools. Very thorough configuration options.

Nachteile:

Overall module is overly complex for new users and customization can be difficult to manage

ServiceNow CMDB - good or bad?

Kommentare: CMDB, if properly configured, can serve as the great tool for all IT and Business Owners. It allows to maintain a trusty repository and automate change management processes related to each application. However, if CMDB is launched and applications lack the necessary metadata - it might cause more confusion than bring benefits.

Vorteile:

The idea of implementing CMDB in my company was to provide the single source of truth for all applications. What I liked most is the ServiceNow Discovery tool, which finds applications and devices detected in the company's network and automatically adds new ones to the CMDB.

Nachteile:

I often think that the UX could be improved. It's not always easy to find the necessary functionalities or configuration tools in the CMDB. Some things are just hidden and many users are struggling with using the application repository to its full extent.

Vorteile:

We successfully use it in conjunction with the vRealize suite for cloud automatization. It is also a very good ticketing software with good tracking

Nachteile:

It is slow when processing large amounts of data and it's not very intuitive when first working with it.

Easy to build application and customer support

Vorteile:

Building Dashboard for Customers is very easy and able to support Users with Customer Support is awesome. Tickets will be auto generated and assigned and able to track the progress easily

Nachteile:

Initial level of training is needed for Admins and also to the Users to get used with the built in functionality.

The availability of features to clearly distinguish your asset inventory both hardware and software along with the SaaS offering to link with other SNOW products.

Nachteile:

Nothing at the moment but may be pricing can be something which can be revised

Kommentare: Highly recommend Service Now Configuration Management Database as a tool to enable and use!

Vorteile:

- Being able to import information external CMDBs and have it available for reporting an dashboarding in ServiceNow. - Ability to use configuration items from the CM database and relate service management tickets

Nachteile:

I cannot find any faults - the ability to bring in all configuration items into the Service Now Config DB is extremely powerful for any service manager in the ITSM space

Kommentare: Overall experience with this tool is great as I need all what I need for my day-to-day work requirements such as periodic notifications, reports, graphs to my e-mail.

Vorteile:

This is a fantastic tool to capture all aspects of Configuration management This tool is in line with other industry standards such as ITIL Large variety of reports can be generated & can be scheduled to your email IDs Customized dashboard to see your most favorite items in "One Click"

Nachteile:

Integration with external software can be made more easier The filter criteria for search selection selection can be improved

Vorteile:

Easy of use is by far the best feature. The user interface is very intuitive. There are popups or roll over texts that help the navigation.

Nachteile:

The visualization of configuration items in graphical format can be improved. Performance tends to slow down when loading high volume of data.

there are a lot of functionalities available out of box, especially around how to categorize different configuration items, the relationship of this module with Change management etc

Nachteile:

Performance when loading a large amount of data suffers badly. Also, visualization of CIs in a graphical manner could be better
