Shared IP -> 10% der Mails werde als Spam abgewiesen

Vorteile:

Die Einrichtung war super einfach und schnell erledgt.

Nachteile:

Sofern man nicht seine eigene IP hat, werden die Mails sehr häufig als Spam abgewiesen. Die Shared-IPs sind werden von vielen missbraucht und sind daher in einigen Listen als Spam-IP aufgelistet.

Excellent, powerful service

Vorteile:

Different SMTP users (not able to log in - if someone was to compromise a system and get the SMTP user details)

Nachteile:

SMTP user passwords are auto generated, which in 9 out of 10 cases is fine, however some routers don’t allow an SMTP user password this long.

Great SMTP and email API for a reasonable price

Kommentare: We've used Mailgun for cold email outreach campaign. We were able to deliver tens of thousands of mails with a solid deliverability and extremely high open rates (mostly thanks to a good title). The overall experience has been good and if I had the need I'd use the tool again.

Vorteile:

It has good pricing, is fairly easy to use, and is affordable price. We've achieved a very high deliverability, exceeding our expectations in that aspect.

Nachteile:

Some of the user and account management interfaces were a big challenging to use and navigate. It took us a while to configure Mailgun according to our needs.

Waste of time and money

Kommentare: I've worked for quite some time with Apollo where they referred me to use a mailing service such as Mailgun to expand my email sending cap to over 200 emails/day. So I did. I created the account on Mailgun, ran a couple of tests, got familiarized with the API, and developed a standard operating process around it, took me 1 week.Everything went well in the testing phase.After sending my first batch of emails LIVE (oh the timing) I got my account temporarily disabled. I get to fill in a completely irrelevant form that was supposed to confirm the "legitimacy" of my business. My business is 100% legit. I got my account permanently suspended, because why not, and who cares? It is not illegal in any country to send cold emails. I haven't received any explanation, there was no warning before starting to use the app. Waste of time and money.

Vorteile:

Yes, there are not too many things left to like at the end of the day.

Nachteile:

Takes a lot of time to set up and requires a serious time investment compared to its competitors.Docs are messy and outdated/inaccurate.Extorsion tactics.They disable your account for no reason.There is no support.

Easy to use and packed with features.

Vorteile:

Easy to use API allows for addition of email functionality in all of our apps. Very detailed searchable logs available for each domain.

Nachteile:

Nothing. The best email delivery platform I have used.

Solid + Dependable; I recommend; long time user

Very reliable service for a good price. We use for transactional emails for sales lead captures, dispatched via API. Solid and reliable.

Nachteile:

No concerns, long time user. We probably have some ancient price, so I cannot comment on that.

Great and reliable

Kommentare: We use Mailgun for a while now and we really like it.Currently we're using it as a standard for all our transactional mailings on new projects.Also, when we experienced difficulties and reached out to the support, we've been amazed about their qualified response that helped us not only solving the problem (mail deliverability) but also to improve the quality of our emails.

Vorteile:

Kommentare: While I'm glad I tried it, I probably won't use it in the future.

Mailgun was easy to use, pretty straightforward and user friendly.

The software seemed a little generic to me, no frills.

Paying for something I can't use (the worst experience)

Vorteile:

I'd love to be able to fill this section, but I pay for a plan I can't use. Hence, I couldn't try it.

Nachteile:

I never thought I'll come across such an appaling product and customer service. I pay $35/month for the "Foundation" plan, which includes 50k emails/month. However, my account is limited and can only send email to 9 recipients per email. I provided all the information they asked for, and my account still stays limited. Even more, I have 3-5 days of sending emails, which they keep asking about. So bottom line, I pay money for something I can't use. Now, you might ask - why don't I move on and use something else? Unfortunately, I can't because the Ghost blogging platform only works with Mailgun for sending bulk emails. Conclusion? I highly highly higly advise anyone to avoid Mailgun and use something else if possible.

Great Software Gone Greedy

Kommentare: Outside of them changing their payment tier / plan system I haven't had any issue with Mailgun. I always found their customer service great and the product itself to be fantastic and does exactly what it's supposed to. I just really wish they brought back the routing feature to the free tier.

Vorteile:

Great API, Super easy to integrate into various types of website / webapp setups. I previously used Mailgun for a variety of different integrations and never had any issues. Complete frictionless integration from beginning to end.

Nachteile:

I dislike that the features we used to get for free are now hidden behind a paywall. Features such as routing emails I find to be rudimentary and were previously built into the free / pay as you go tier. Now it is locked behind the $35 dollar tier. This is a pain for small businesses that want to accept a few emails from a professional email with their own domain. Now to unlock that feature they must over commit to a tier with an allowance of 10k plus emails a month. This I feel has squeezed many small businesses out of using their service and it has definately moved me from recommending & using them in future as I would have previously for my smaller clients.

Solid mail solution with good dashboard and exellent customer support

Kommentare: I needed a free solution to send transactional emails on wordpress. And Mailgun came as one of the favourites and also they had a good free plan. Moreover, it has integration with a mail plugin that I was using. So it seemed a good idea to try it. I'm using it for almost 2 years and it was easy to setup and it's working great since then without any need to fix or change anything.

Vorteile:

You can try Mailgun and really use it on your site for free Great customer support that will treat you well even if you're using free plan and don't know nothing about emails. Being one of the most popular company, there is lots of information around the web on how-to-dos. Easy integration with wordpress plugins.

Nachteile:

If you don't have a dedicated IP, your reputation will be influenced by other users. So if someone is using Mailgun abusively and is using the same IP to send emails you may get some problems.

I like the way the dashboard is built, it's really easy to use. Easy to find e-mails.

Nachteile:

I always struggle to find the function of whitelisting an e-mail, but I always get there eventually.

Unacceptable

Not worth my time to post any pros with their software. Same functionality as competitors.

Nachteile:

Our email has been down this whole morning. No explanation or response from Mailgun. After many unsuccessful attempts to log in to our Mailgun account, we got a popup saying "We are migrating some systems" -- no warning of this in beforehand either. Email is a very critical part of our business. We assumed Mailgun would be a reliable partner — apparently not. Please stay away from Mailgun. I can’t recommend this to anyone having a serious business. There are more reliable and cheaper alternatives out there.

Almost a necessity with server configs and email filters!

One of the best SMTP/API mail integration solutions

Kommentare: 10,000 free emails a month, easy to use API, easy to integrate and send emails reliably.

Vorteile:

Mailgun offers 10,000 free emails a month, which is much higher than a lot of the competing services in this category. The web interface is clean and provides you with the information you need right on the landing page. Integrates easy with many services and plugins exist for many platforms (eg Wordpress). API is well documented.

Nachteile:

While the Free tier of 10,000 emails a month is class leading, when you begin entering the paid tiers there are much cheaper alternatives available. Email validation service is pricey for what it is.

Reliable

Vorteile:

I'm using mailgun for transnational emails and I'm very happy I never encountered any problem, the interface is very good and simple, I like the fact we can setup multiple domains in the same account. All in all it's the best!

Nachteile:

Mailgun didn't notify me when my account was suspended for a verification and in that time I lost many emails that may have resulted in contracts if they were delivered! You need to check you account regularly to make sure everything is OK!

Robust SMTP API for your sites, with no comprimises

Kommentare: We use Mailgun alongside other services such as Mandrill and SendGrid, depending on our clients needs for their site/app.

Vorteile:

Mailgun has a really easy to implement API (for devs) with a bunch of different languages support like curl, PHP, Java, etc. - Within minutes, we were running the PHP API on our app, and sending out transactional emails. Also good for devs: the extremely in-depth official docs provided by Mailgun. Along with case examples, and demos, you'll be ready to go, even if you're a bit less experienced with implementing an API of this sort. One of my favourite features is the email validation API, which easily integrates into your forms via jQuery, and uses the Mailgun API to validate email inputs as users type their email. We use it on all of our forms now!

Nachteile:

It's worth noting that everything that operates through Mailgun is through API, unlike something like SendGrid which offers a full dashboard alongside their API. This may or may not be an issue for some people.

Reliable base for emailing in a product

Vorteile:

We liked the simplicity and set it and forget it nature of the product. We never really ever had to go in and perform maintenance since when we first set up the service on our app a few years back.

Nachteile:

We recently had an issue of emails not getting sent out that was due to a different service we had integrated with mailgun. Because of this issue, we had wondered if we were able to go back in the mailgun logs to see the old emails. Unfortunately, the logs only go back to about 2 months or so which meant we had just lost all the old data. It would have been nice if there was some option to perform automated backups of everything or automated exports after the 2 months period.
