One of the most engaging and easiest Game Engines

Kommentare: Stencyl has been one of the best game engines I've used, I love the fact that there's a built-in photo editor, the editor was very useful for creating and editing game sprites on the fly. The drag and drop coding system and numerous pre-built game behaviors, make the game development experience feel like a fun game itself. Additionally, the preview and debugger are super useful to perfecting your Video Game. Stencyl is just one of the best out there, soon I would return to using it. Thank you so very much Stency.

Vorteile:

Stencyl, was one of the first game engines I tried out, its code free drag and drop game development environment enabled me to make numerous games in time in my younger years.

Nachteile:

This could just be me, but sometimes Stencyl give a low memory error, this was a few years back, so perhaps its been resolved in newer versions. Also, the games tend to lag if there are too many assets in the games.

New to game development with no coding experience

Kommentare: I had a good experience with the software. I even trained my little nephew on how to use it.

Vorteile:

This software to me is like the basic structure to game design and development. The IDE has everything build into it so there is no worries about having to switch back and forth between software. This is a very good tool to use to understanding coding even though you use the block method to code logic. I would recommend this software to beginners who want to learn about game development.

Nachteile:

More exports to different platforms such as Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox. I believe more people would be quick to buy the software since it's real easy to use.

Great game prototyping and learning tool

Vorteile:

Stencyl is a great start for learning game development and programming, specially for children. It uses visual programming and has an intuitive interface for seeing the results in real time

Nachteile:

It's not a professional tool for most use cases, so if you need more advanced features, look for other engines

Its so intuitive to use and the inbuilt features make it so easy to bring your desired function into the game.

Nachteile:

I wish it had more templates and tutorials.

Vorteile:

Stencyl is a great tool for super easy game design. There's no coding needed, so it's a great place to sketch out prototypes too.

Nachteile:

The biggest issue is that it confined to mobile and flash. With flash being the nuisance that it is that could be troublesome.

Vorteile:

Drag and drop WYSIWYG interface, easy to get a basic game off the ground In-built object behaviours such as 'run & jump', 'bounce off screen bounds', etc. You can customise any of these behaviours or write your own from scratch

Nachteile:

There were no in-built ways of capturing text input from the user when I last checked. I think it should be far easier to create a basic 'text prompt' to allow a user to type in their name or something. Can be a bit confusing when you really get your teeth into customising a behaviour (no more-so than if you are doing textual coding, so this is hardly a bad point)

A fluent game creation experience marred by limitations

Vorteile:

Stencyl is a fantastic tool to make good looking 2D games without the need to code. It has slick UI and the game logic writing process is similar to Scratch, but a more advanced version of it. It is easy and fun to get started by playing with the blocks. There are also lots of pre-made blocks containing game logic that can be reused and remixed, to let you get started faster.

Nachteile:

The free version can only export to the Web, which is really constricted. To export to further platforms, you'll need to purchase Indie and Studio versions which are really not that affordable to overseas game companies whose currency is far less lower than the USD. Stencyl is also pretty limited in terms of what games can you make.

Stencyl is surprisingly fun and addictive. Simple management of game elements and a deeper back end of construction allows for a same exactly the way you'd expect

Nachteile:

In desperate need of different programming language. Price is a little steep considering the competition offers their programs for free

Baby's first game engine

Kommentare: It was a fun way to learn the basic concepts of game development

Vorteile:

Super easy for beginnings, drag and drop code fragments and assets and suddenly you will have yourself a video game

Nachteile:

It is not robust, it is not for anything that requires a third dimension, it is very basic, which is not good if you want something advanced
