Outstanding Software that is User friendly and easy to read

Vorteile:

Extremely User Friendly and visually pleasing. Allows for scheduling flexibility and visualization No Need to worry about scheduling explosions when making changes (MS Project)

Nachteile:

The software does have a capacity for activities. Somewhat bogs down the computer if your schedules are larger in size.

Netpoint pros and cons

Kommentare: My Overall experience with NetPoint and Net risk is very satisfying and i recommend it to my colleagues . However if you will release official step by step video lectures or tutorial it will be wonderful.

Vorteile:

1) User friendly interface 2) Good graphics

Nachteile:

1) If we can get an option to upload bulk activities and resources via excel through import button. 2) I know currently we have a PDF copy of user guide but if we can get a training tutorials for each and every topic it will do wonders. I have seen people trying to avoid the software because of lack of video tutorials for example on youtube.

Useful tool but poor customer service

Vorteile:

It's a useful and simple scheduling tool. Quick to get on hand.

Nachteile:

Poor customer service. There's no response for license activation email. I left messages on the website, but still no follow-up. It took us more than 3 months to finally have it activated.

Net point is a good tool for Interactive Planning sessions & High level planning

Kommentare: For interactive planning sessions, it gives more convenience than P6. I tempt to prefer it over other tools during high level planning workshops.

Vorteile:

1. Drawing timeline representation of activities is easier 2. Participants are convenient understanding the logic thats being built in a sequence 3.

Nachteile:

1. Navigating among different Fragnets is difficult 2. Zooming in & out could be even better 3. upon inserting a rectangle (specifically), re-shaping it by dragging it from corners is a difficult task. Could be smoother 4. Printing a specific portion of the canvas by selecting could be made available 5. Activity description could have auto fit option

What are you waiting for?

Kommentare: I have used NetPoint for claim analysis, extensions of time determinations, and arbitration proceedings. Nothing convinces non-schedulers more clearly than a real scheduling program that functions with the simplicity of a visual bar/gantt chart. Critical paths change over time. It is difficult to prove/trace the history of the critical path especially if the schedule is not updated properly. Need to show the critical path left of the data date? Only NetPoint can do this. Non-schedulers don't care about the complexity of the calculations. I use NetPoint to tell the story of how events really happened and measure the reasonable impact of delays. NetPoint will not allow the operator to perform shenanigans with activity relationships.

Vorteile:

It's easy to get started with NetPoint. When you go down the rabbit hole to figure out how every feature works, that's when the power of NetPoint will truly become apparent.

Nachteile:

Schedulers by nature are people with OCD tendencies. The display scaling on ultra high resolution monitors needs to be fixed. I'd like to see a refreshed and more polished user interface / GUI. The node control size of objects is limited to small, medium, large..this drives me nuts sometimes. I'd like more options to control the size formatting of objects. I would also like the Global Edit mode to keep things in place when I close the file, sometimes my edits violate various text/attribute placement parameters...this drives me nuts too. Overall if I leave these features at their default settings, its ok. I don't use printing features...cause they're not that great. I use Take Snapshot, bump up the width option, and save to file.

Schedule summarization and collaboration with stakeholders not versed in CPM scheduling.

The layout manager can be cumbersome especially when importing P6 schedules.

NetPoint from a large Global Business

Kommentare: PMA as a business and NetPoint as a tool have been very supportive and successful platform for our business. Our customers request this tool on many projects and is our standard IAP planning tool for the entire organization. PMA customer service is always willing to help very quickly. They have helped us solve many topics that come up with NetPoint.

Vorteile:

NetPoint offers features unlike any other planning software. The viewing capabilities our project teams can see when we move task is above other planning tools. This allows our teams to become more interactive with the schedule and can really see the logic/dates they are assigning activities.

Nachteile:

Currently none, NetPoint functions properly for our business needs.

Great Software for Interactive Planning, Communicating and Conveying Project Execution Plan.

Kommentare: Simplifies interactive planning. Easy to understand by stakeholders for their review and "buy-In" of the plan. Helps focus on critical and near critical path in addition to manage project floats. Great tool to simplify the complex and help upper management in decision making.
Great tool for on the spot "What-If" scenarios. Real time and visual aid on impact on project plan based on changes and progress.

Vorteile:

Easy to use and very intuitively. Great for interactive planning. Prefer software for upper management to understand critical and near critical path. Help team members to focus on critical activities and manage project floats. Easy to export data to Excel including charts. Easy to update and track changes. I used this software on a daily basis with directors, plant managers and execution leads. I will highly recommend Netpoint to anyone who has to work with planning and scheduling. Customer Support is A+! Fast response and issue resolve within same business day.

Nachteile:

Inserting standards "Clip Arts" like arrows, lines, geometric figures not very intuitive and with no options like in MS Office products. Most cases I use a print screen in PowerPoint/Word for better comments. Resource chart and over limit not always easy to convey and understand.

My discovery of NetPoint

Kommentare: I have been using project management tools for many years mainly for nuclear power unit maintenance outages which contain tens of thousands of activities manpower intensive and finely timed windows, also the need to get the unit back up safely and back producing power and earning money. High end scheduling tools were used that were very complicated and manpower intensive. But my main issue was how to show the overall project at a high level from a very detailed schedule.
Well I found NetPoint, at last a program that could show an entire complicated project on one screen that was also a scheduling tool and could be resource and cost loaded. It was very intuitive to learn, but what I liked best was I was able to gather our entire project management team and executives in one room and review the schedule from one end to the other, in away that all in the room could follow and understand.
Another great feature was the ability to very quickly do what if's and scenarios if you have ever tried this with a 20,000 activity project with all it's relationships you know how time consuming it is, in my experience management want quick results to these situations.
This is a great companion tool when client specs call for high end software schedules but also for any applications that do not call for a high end software package.
This is a great scheduling tool, I had searched for many years for a package such as NetPoint. Down load the trial version and take a look that is what I did.

Not much, for its cost and functionality it meets most of your project management needs.

NetPoint Easy

Kommentare: We are using NetPoint to show project schedules to people that need to understand what is going on but don't know how to read P6.

Vorteile:

Easy to learn and use, many ways to show progress of a project

Nachteile:

Nothing I've found yet, you make a good product that is easy to use and understand. It allows us to show others, not in planning, just what is going on at any given time.

NetPoint & NetRisk

Kommentare: I've used Netpoint where schedules were needed to be prepared quickly in front of an audience of non-scheduling experts. I have also used Netpoint together with Netrisk to simply a much more complex P6 schedule for the purposes of running a Schedule Risk Analysis.

Vorteile:

Its an exciting new method of Planning and Scheduling for projects, and Netpoint + NetRisk really does follow the ethos of being a graphical and visual method of preparing schedules

Nachteile:

Often need to be jumping across buttons and menus, and keyboard selection to do this is still quite limited. The formatting of the bars themselves should be more cutomisable.

NetPoint Used for Upstream Oil & Gas

Kommentare: NetPoint is a vital tool being used to assist multiple offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico in planning projects and POB (Persons On Board). Asset stakeholders are especially drawn to the visual aspects of NetPoint and the ability to see the affects of moving activities on the fly. I have been using this program for over 4 years and I find that it is very user friendly. I was able to learn how to use the program during a 1 hour training session and a week later I presented it to a team that made the decision to use the tool for a 3+ year offshore program.

Vorteile:

Nachteile:

I don't like that you can't change the histogram. I'd like to be able toggle back and forth from # of hours to # of POB (persons on board). I'd also like to be able to overlap bars with the ability to bring forward and push back.

NetPoint Use for Civil Engineering Students

Kommentare: I think it is extremely valuable for today's students to know various planning software and be able to use the right tool for the opportunity.

Vorteile:

My undergraduate and graduate students find the software very intuitive and demonstrative. They download a trial copy of NetPoint and this works perfectly for short-term assignments (less than 4 weeks in duration) that are used in several courses in our current curriculum.

Nachteile:

Not that this is a problem, but for the students to have an appreciation of what NetPoint does and be able to interpret their schedule, they need a primer on the GPM algorithm to be able to compare against CPM algorithm that is also presented in my classes.

A great Scheduling Software that will MS Project a run for its money

Kommentare: The best part about this software is that I can lay down schedules of multiple projects on one sheet and see if there are any overlaps between projects. In addition, it is great to make presentations to the board using this tool

Vorteile:

The best part about the software is the ease of operability and the next best part is you can visualize the schedule which is great for presentations and gives you an overall view of the project

Nachteile:

The things I like least about this software is that while being very user friendly and being great for presentations, it fails to solve the purpose a P6 might be able to solve. It does not allow me to have unique ID codes for activities, tasks etc. though being a great scheduling software it does not provide any cost control features provided by P6

Large schedules with many activities slow down computer speed when building or modifying the schedules.

visualization is the primary reason I use this product. It helps to convey strategy better than competitors.

Nachteile:

Netpoint does have a bit of a learning curve and it is not as intuitive as I would like.

Kommentare: I use NetPoint to sell projects and to set them up for turnover to a project execution team. The software is intuitive and learning comes quickly. I still have a lot to learn, but that hasn't been a problem with turning out professional work, which is important in selling and in getting projects started off right.
Customer support has been awesome! Though I have asked for help several times, the NetPoint Team has been there ,with the right people, to get me going again quickly.
