SciNote - Great Intro to ELN & Inventory Mangement

Vorteile:

I like the ability to organize all my lab's projects in one place, as well as the inventory management system that gives me ordering notifications based on reagent use.

Nachteile:

The project organization hierarchy requires a bit of a learning curve.

First choice electronic lab notebook!

Kommentare: It's been wonderful to have all of our team's data in one place - easily coded/laid out for quick access and sharing. It was tough initially to get all lab members to buy in and make the transition, but I think even they see the value in this new electronic lab notebook now!

Vorteile:

Easy sharing of data, SOPs and protocols, results, and program management/tracking tools!

Nachteile:

A little expensive, doesn't interface well with some of our coded software and data analysis tools.

Easy to use but not to edited

Vorteile:

It is logical for experiment and easy to use.

Nachteile:

The thing I don't like most is that this system is not compatible with excel software.

Collecting documents

Vorteile:

I like that you can upload spreadsheets and documents and scinote makes it easy to prevent multiple copies floating around

Nachteile:

Would be nice if you could write the protocol in browser instead of needing to use ms software

Very organized

Vorteile:

Topics are searchable by key words. Which makes it very much user friendly.

Nachteile:

The i-pad version is not fully functional yet.

A much easier lab notebook experience!

Kommentare: My overall experience with SciNote has been excellent! I really enjoy using the software for my electronic laboratory notebook!

Vorteile:

I like how easy SciNote is to use- the features are simple yet super effective. I use the protocol/template features daily when preparing my notebook pages, and I have different protocols to make preparing my notebook that much quicker! I love how I can add pictures, tables, and checklists so that I can really organize my thoughts and results before, during, and after going into the lab!

Nachteile:

I really enjoy using SciNote and have little complaints. The only feature I would like to see is being able to move multiple experiments over to a different folder. For example, I have active and completed projects folders, and it would make organizing my notebook that much easier if I could move a few experiments/"pages" over to the completed projects folder at once.

Opinion Nano1Health

Kommentare: Overall our experience is good, we will continue to use it in the foreseeable future and probably recommend it to other teams of our section and around it.

Vorteile:

At Nano1Health we like to be a 0 paper company. Reality sometimes makes that difficult but at least with Scinote we can manage to reduce it a lot. We can access anywhere the data that we need in a matter of seconds, and anyone in the team is able to access samples and codes when required.

Nachteile:

Sometimes, due to its structure its difficult for some members of the team to find what they are looking for and therefore don't use it that much (just ask the other members by mail). Sometimes it is not very flexible for customizing columns of templates or other hard-set services. Finally, price. Its per-user licensing makes it expensive, especially for small enterprises, in which everybody needs to have access but the revenue is not very big

Kommentare: There have been great improvements since I started using it. Once protocols are made it is very easy to use but making the templates can be tedious

Vorteile:

I like the idea of having an online lab notebook for everyone in a department to see and sign off on without having to use multiple apps

Nachteile:

The format of the notes section. I wish it was more like word where everything moves with you. Also I wish there was a way to enter equations easier

SciNote - A great ELN for many different applications

Kommentare: Fantastic product and service; would recommend to any lab

Vorteile:

The ability to be 21 CFR 11 compliant, easy of use, visibility, customizations, security, and permission levels. Customer service is fantastic and responsive.

Nachteile:

Not many cons, it would be nice if we were able to enable SciNote's updated on our own instead of automatic but there has not been an update we did not like.

Easy to use.

Vorteile:

It is very easy to train chemists to use the system. Once they use it, it's easy to review what was done in the electronic lab notebook.

Nachteile:

The inventory tables are not as easy to navigate. I'm used to using SmartSheets and Excel, and some of that functionality isn't in the inventory tables, yet.

Excellent option for an electronic lab notebook

Kommentare: Overall, I enjoy using the system although it took me a couple of weeks to understand the system and to be able to take advantage of all the features (protocol writing).

Vorteile:

I think that once you understand how the software works and how to use most of the features, it provides a very easy and efficient way to keep a clear record of experiments performed in a lab.

Nachteile:

It is not very intuitive and you have to look into tutorials and maybe discover features through trial-error.

Vorteile:

The ability to create a hyperlink to other tasks/experiments makes it incredibly easy to reference past work.

Nachteile:

The updates are very frequent and often times don't seem to make any substantial improvements making it frustrating to navigate.

Helpful as electronic lab data.

Vorteile:

can be available online and see day to day activity.

Nachteile:

You cannot delete older versions of template or the folders created by mistake. one cannot be used for reporting purpose or tracking purpose. One cannot sort the project by user.

Kommentare: Overall I have a great experience with SciNote.

Vorteile:

That it is an electronic notebook and don't have to use pen to paper.

Nachteile:

The amount of unnecessary updates there is.

How you add steps in protocols, I wish users had more freedom

Overall a very good software/program for lab sample management

Kommentare: Very positive. Scinote is very user friendly and very reliable.

Vorteile:

It is very easy to document experiments or trials in Scinote. The user face is also very user friendly and easy to just jump into.

Nachteile:

The software still seems a little young. The software seems well developed and lacks any noticeable bugs, but small things like trying to copy and paste comments from protocol to protocol does not work the greatest. Typically copy and pasting the comments only works within a single comment and when you want to copy and paste multiple lines, the software just groups them all together within a single paragraph.

Scintoe is very useful strongly suggeting it.

Vorteile:

You can keep your notes in an organized format. Share information with your team through it. It does not get lost. Much easier to find your notes later on, instead of getting through paper notebooks. I think it is 100% necessary, if you are working on multiple projects.

Nachteile:

Changing between folders is time consuming. However, SciNote sacrificed some speed to make it look more organized in my opinion. Also, copying a set of experiment steps from project to another is problematic as it is not always easy to find the target destination folder in the drop-down menu.

Scinote is great, truly recommend

Vorteile:

Scinote is great for keeping samples organized and easy to locate all testing done on it. It is also great that it has inventories where reagents, standards and columns can be organized and assigned.

Nachteile:

Sometimes attachments time out or do not open correctly.

Easy to use and excellent support provided.

Nachteile:

Mistakes require signatures revoked and can take time

The ease of compiling our manually written notebooks into an online repository is amazing

Some updates remove or move features with no warning

Customizable Electronic Notebook for All!

Vorteile:

I really enjoy the customization options and user interface of SciNote as every element required for an electronic lab notebook is available for use in an intuitive, easy to use design.

Nachteile:

Honestly there isn't much to criticize based on my user experience!

SciNote is a Great Lab Notebook Program!

I can easily keep track of all my experiments and keep protocols updated as I progress.

Nachteile:

I have no problems with SciNote. I havent ran into any issues with SciNote.

Vorteile:

SciNote has codes for every project, experiment & task, making it very easy to reference a protocol or data file for another user to access.

Nachteile:

SciNote has minor bugs, such as protocol duplication issues, that sometimes make it tedious to use.
