All of the uses for this program are mostly easy to use. Banking, billing and payroll are excellent tools to have at your disposal.
Finding some of the reports is counter-intuitive. Often we really have to search from what we are looking for - and sometime there is no report.

Sage is a good value for the the money I paid
Kommentare: Despite their short comings,I can tell you that sage 300 is the best management software out their with good value for money,and I highly recommend it for either large or small real estate or construction companies.

What I like is the face that sage helps me to boost my project productivity, limiting errors, improving correspondence among parties,and creating adjustible reports

I have been using this software for a while now and my only issues us that I still cant remove some dormant account.that is my only issues

Sage 100 Contractor is a value adding 'asset'
Kommentare: Real and full visibility and near real time results. Utterly refreshing and makes my job that much easier. Excellent reporting.
Vorteile:
Sage 100 C offers employment costing solutions. Following budgets vs. real expenses is crucial in the construction sector, and Sage 100 Contractor assists us (my client and i) in meeting this demand.
Nachteile:
Data migration form the old software and Implementation was full of glitches but the client support were always available and willing to assist.
Functional ERP, not particularly user friendly
Vorteile:
It has just about every feature one could need in a construction ERP.
Nachteile:
User interface is not particularly great - very easy to screw things up with one misclick.
Estimate Management
Kommentare: Overall Sage SQL Estimating is a very stable and robustly powerful estimating tool.
Vorteile:
One of the best things about Sage SQL Estimating is the ability to breakdown an estimate into an unbelievable number of different ways allowing both company standard breakdowns and complex bid form breakdowns at the same time. This also allows standard estimate formatting across all different divisions of our company while working together to complete very large estimates.
Nachteile:
The two most limiting drawbacks of this software is the inability to create a specification driven takeoff system. The second drawback is the ability to error check the takeoff against a specification to make sure the entry is conforming to the specification and/or is correctly entered. Some of this can be done through assemblies, but not all of this can be done and is why this is very limited for the use of Process Piping System.

Sage 100 Software by General Contractor
Kommentare: We are a general contractor and we probably don't utilize all the bells and whistles available in the software that a subcontractor might use to their benefit. We were mislead on the reports available when we purchased the software and spent significant dollars getting a custom report to suit our needs. The software has been very reliable.
Vorteile:
Integration of accounting information with project management information; Real time information/status of the job; Ease of using drop-down to source; Ability to export information to excel and third party reports.
Nachteile:
When the vendor is shown on a report or screen and the vendor number isn't. The reports section is missing a comprehensive (in detail) project manager report that captures and compares budget, contracts, change orders, purchase orders and costs to date. Learning how to use change orders as they impacted reports was difficult.

Sage 100 Contractor - Honest Feedback
Kommentare: It covers the basics of what we need, but really has not raised the level of service we are providing through technology. Sage 100 seems to have a good base, but needs a lot of development to make it standout.
Vorteile:
We liked the fact that Sage 100 has Accounting, Service (work order management), and New Construction (Job management) in one package. Our goal was to make sure all programs are seamlessly communicating by having the same platform. None of these products really standout as special, but have the basic functions.
Nachteile:
Basic functions in Accounting were set up strange and go against GAPP principles. Payroll is cumbersome to manage and Sage does not have a really good field time capture solution. SSO is basic and inconsistent. Basic navigation to look up customers and manage service contracts are not streamlined. It takes to many steps to access information and no easy wildcard "look up" functions.

Timberline Property Management Software Review
Kommentare: When we first purchased Timberline in 2002 we were extremely satisfied with the software. Their Customer Support & Third-Party Consultants provided the best & knowledgeable support I have ever been involved with in over 40 years of use. They still provide great support in answering and fixing my problems, but the response time has been degraded. Unfortunately, once Timberline was acquired by Sage, the Real Estate (Property Management) portion of the software seemed to become "orphaned" in favor of the Construction portion of the software and has not "kept up" with today's technology.
Vorteile:
When we first purchased Timberline Property Management Software 19 years ago, we felt it was the best Property Management Software on the market. It had all the modules we needed at the time and they were tightly integrated to each other. The report designer module made it easy to produce both "canned" and "custom" reports. Bottom line, it fit almost all of our Property Management needs with minimal reliance on third-party software.
Nachteile:
Timberline Property Management Software was acquired by Sage Software and in my opinion over the years since acquisition, became Sage 300 Construction Software. If you look at the focus of the software today, it seems to be over 95% focused on the Construction industry and only 5% on the Real Estate industry.

Thoughts in the Second Year
Kommentare: Training wasn't smooth. Our trainer was a good person but we were mislead in regards to the cost of getting started so that was a negative from the beginning.
Vorteile:
That it worked well with Procore and gave us a more detailed accounting system.
Nachteile:
The double entry with using Procore and Sage 100. I also don't like that it isn't very user friendly. Lots of clicks to accomplish a simple task. I will use looking at the checkbook register as an example. I should just be able to click and look at at it. It should take 5 or 6 clicks to get there.

The Truth behind estimating
Kommentare: Sage allows all the estimators in the department to work similarly without everyone needing to do them exactly the same. One estimator or company may want 1 line item for windows that includes labor material and equipment. Another might want a line item for furnish while and a separate for install.
Vorteile:
This software is easy to use. Its also been around the longest so its easy to find other estimators with familiarity with the software. Its longevity in the market has created several other software integrations. The product is secure no worry about formulas not working when its sorted a different way.
Nachteile:
The ability and flexibility of the software is so infinite you can spend hours creating templates and short cuts that aren't even needed or actually become to in depth.

What I really like in Sage 100 Contractor is when we start setting up the software it was very quick to go live after short period, The annual revenue for the company I was working for is 35+ million. we shifted from old software to Sage 100 Contractor within two months, I did few demonstrations for my colleague about how to use Sage 100 Contractor and all of them they found Sage 100 Contractor easy to use and very helpful for our business, and reporting in Sage 100 Contractor is great.
Nachteile:
I didn't face any issue or something I didn't like in Sage 100 Contractor. but the developing in Sage 100 Contractor is impossible.

Big Bang for Small Bucks
Kommentare: My overall experience with Sage 100 Contractor has been very good. We've used it almost 4 years and we're still very happy that we selected it.
Vorteile:
Sage 100 Contractor is easy to use and quite intuitive. No one on my staff has struggled to learn it. For the price, I believe it is by far the best solution for my company. I'm generally happy with the built-in reports.
Nachteile:
I would like for the built-in reports to be easier to modify. It's something we struggle with internally. We paid a 3rd party to develop some custom reports for us. However, when Sage has updates it sometimes causes the custom reports to crash. This is highly frustrating.

Best accounts management system for Construction and real estate companies
Vorteile:
Easy of use . Not required any expertise to use this program. We can make functions,modules using crystal reports program. Very easy to build new modules. Maintaing inventory, job postings , invoice design and printing, batch management becomes easy .
Nachteile:
If it has any API to intigration with SIMEM plant, Marcantonin Plant data bases that will be of great feature .
Needs More User Friendly Features
Kommentare: We would not purchase it again and would prefer to go back to our old system, but we've invested too much to do that at this time.
Vorteile:
Widely universal so integration software more readily available with management systems and customer relation software.
Nachteile:
We came from ComputerEase, which is very user friendly. Sage appears to be outdated. The installation and upgrade process is very time consuming and for most would require hiring their services to install or your IT personnel. The biggest issue we have is the font size. If you try to change the font size in your screen, the windows will distort and you cannot access certain information within Sage, so it strains your eyes to view the information. My other big concern, is that when processing applications for payment within Billing, it will allow you to go over 100% on a scheduled line. If you don't manually check via print preview, you can very likely overbill. Additionally, when voiding applications, there are some major hassles when it comes to stored materials on jobs that don't carry over stored each month. Lastly, if you do not post in the order and timeframe that you are trained to do, it results in a large hassle and time-consuming elimination process. There are several other items that are not favorable, but these are the top ones on our mind most frequently.

Pro's and Con's of a database-driven program - powerful, clunky and not necessarily intuitive.
Kommentare: For those who live within it, it seems to provide them all of the answers they are looking for. For me, a casual user, it is frustrating. It makes me feel like I am stuck in the 1980's, trying to dig through someone else's database. I love Linux, but I don't use it as much as I should because it is always changing, and if you don't remain immersed, you cant keep up - I feel the same way about Sage. You live it or you loath it....
Vorteile:
Sage develops and maintains a large and powerful database. It provides you the options and ability to do anything.
Nachteile:
In spite of of developing and maintaining a large and powerful database, Sage is clunky to use and requires regular embedment in it to be able to perform advanced functions, let alone basic ones. It is not intuitive. In fact, it can be a real pain in the butt!
The best guarantee to complete the work within the budget
Kommentare: I consider myself lucky because the company I work for uses Sega300, as it has a pivotal role in organizing all the functions of the work team, and also a great role in organizing the financial affairs of projects, and through it we avoid mistakes when preparing bills and financial reports. Keeping track of the work by ensuring that you do not exceed the specified budget.
Vorteile:
It is one of the best tools for estimating the business value and managing project finances. Sega300 enables construction companies of all sizes organize and track tasks. In short, the Sega300 tells project managers what they need to do, and owners what their firm is actually about. The Sega300 eliminates duplicate entries by integrating and updating modules in real time. The Sega300 protects data transmission by limiting access to authorized individuals only. It will guard against changing financial data or losing jobs. The sequential and traffic order of customers and vendors helps integrate monthly accounting surveys for settlements and retrieve invoices accurately and efficiently.
Nachteile:
There is nothing undesirable, it just needs some training to learn how to work correctly, and after completing the training, you will find it easy and quick to implement the required operations and extract reports.
Good product, frustrating reporting, is Sage looking forward?
Kommentare: Solid ERP software. Expensive to get all the "bells and whistles". Requires work outside the software to get useful information efficiently.
Vorteile:
Once trained, easy to use. Good security policies in place to allow multiple users with access to only what they need.
Nachteile:
Cumbersome to get information out. If you want Job information about an AP invoice, you need to look at two different inquiries because the job info is in the Job Cost database while you are looking in the Accounts Payable database, or vice versa. Even with daily time entry, the Payroll module doesn't offer an inquiry or report to get daily info about an employee (Job charged to, EQ used, etc.) Finally, why doesn't Sage have any plans to develop a 64-bit ODBC driver? The whole world is going to 64-bit Windows platforms, but have to use 32-bit Spreadsheet software to use the ODBC connection to access the information that should be available from within the software itself.
A few items to improve an already great product.
Vorteile:
My boss has a lot of money going out; with that in mind, I start my bank reconciliation early and keep it going until month end. Sage far surpasses all other accounting software in this particular process.
Nachteile:
Searching for an item could be improved dramatically! Also, if I issue a check by copying an old one issued to the same person. It becomes a journal entry and if I ask the computer for all payments issued to that person that journal entry is not always included. I need to be careful and check job costs, not just payments made. One other item, when issuing a check, I appreciate the manual check choice being added, I would suggest a small tweak, I wonder if you offered the verbiage "Debit Card", as well. I would be curious to attend short 15 minutes or so, info meetings- that would focus on educating users on particular features, for example in estimating and scheduling. Something that would have visual aids not just reading in the Sage Help. Maybe a recording in Zoom or YouTube a meeting accessible through your help site. I am a visual learner reading does not help me as much as a visual coach. One last item I would like to see implemented, I doubt it can be but here goes. If possible when I need to start a help ticket, sometimes what I need say is complicated. I need to type 2-3 paragraphs. I wish there was a streamlined way to get a person to talk to. Using the chat box is great unless it is a complicated issue, I wish I could type ## or something and that would direct me to the call back Que. Thank You so much for asking.

Powerful Construction software

Vorteile:
Job costing, payroll direct deposit, ACH, Reporting, project work center, customized reports, archive features, integration with Outlook, the ability to input suggestions and vote on others ideas, etc
Nachteile:
The initial implementation and setup. Our Consultant was not the best in the implementation process. We have since connected with someone who is FABULOUS and knows how to best help the Client to setup "best practices" from the start. I only wish we had connected with her at the onset. Some of the programming still has "glitches" and boots you out of the program - annoying. F2 should be edit, and pulls up a calendar, Enter key and Tab key don't work consistently with other Microsoft programs - slight annoyance.

Essential Estimating Software
Kommentare: This program is a must have for any construction company. Sage estimating has standardized company estimating practices and estimate formats that has allowed us to more accurately track historical data. Sage estimating has also streamlined our estimating process and allowed us to get away from the human error factor when creating formulas in spreadsheets.
Vorteile:
Sage Estimating is well worth the investment. Not only does it take the error potential out of spreadsheet mistakes, it also allows for a fully customizable database as well as the ability to create & tailor automatic formulas and assemblies to your particular company structure and process. The software is easily customizable in all assets (estimate format, database, sort level, CSI vs. Uniformat, WBS, formulas & assemblies). Another great feature is the ability to easily update production rates, labor rates & material prices in the database with the click of a button, so all team members always have the most current data. Sage offers great support for their products and has a comprehensive online forum for all things related to the program.
Nachteile:
Although it is very intuitive and much more user friendly than previous versions, there is still a small amount of training required/highly recommended to smoothly & confidently navigate and operate the program.
Sage 300 CRE is an average database system
Kommentare: Overall, we have used Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) for 15 years. We stick with it because we have invested so much time and money into customizing it and forcing it to work like we want it to work. It is a good database, if you can figure out ways of extracting the data you want (i.e. Access, ODBC, etc.). In general, the software is old and not as dynamic as others on the market, but switching is too much of a painful process to make us jump ship. We will keep sailing (and bailing) with Sage 300 CRE, at least for now.
Vorteile:
We integrate other estimating and purchasing software for our home building division and that works fairly well. As a database repository, it works well. It is easy to get information in the system and you have a lot of ability to customize and create fields.
Nachteile:
The reporting tools in Sage 300 CRE are not good. Getting information out of the system has always been our challenge. We end up extracting the data via other tools and creating our own reports in other tools (i.e. excel). The financial statement and other report writing tools are not easy to work with, and frequently have issues that need to be corrected (or acknowledged... still not sure why Sage can not figure out how to round properly to make a balance sheet balance)...

Extremely Robust Estimating Software
Kommentare: You are unlikely to find a more robust estimating software. The integration with Sage 300 CRE is very strong and allows you to import your original estimate into Job Cost and any changes into Project Management, which saves you from large amounts of duplicate entry and the potential errors that come with it. The functionality for creating granular or broad markups can't be matched. It is unfortunate that it is an on-premise software that requires a VPN and Remote Desktop to access it from outside the office unless you are going to pay another party to host it in the cloud. They really need to look at modernizing to a cloud environment.
Vorteile:
One of the best features that I use in my role is the integration with Sage 300 CRE. We can export an estimate directly to Job Cost in Sage. You can also import an estimate directly into a change request in Sage Project Management. There are many ways to set and calculate add-ons, which doesn't seem to be the case with other software. You can have multiple tabs to see different views of the estimate and highlight different information. You can customize both the on screen views and the printouts for your needs.
Nachteile:
It isn't cloud based, so you either have to have it hosted in the cloud or you have to VPN in and use Remote Desktop if you want to access it outside the office. For a construction software, where many people are located on jobsites, that isn't ideal.
Best general estimating system EVER
Kommentare: We had 4 estimators all giving the boss spreadsheets that looked completely different, and sometimes contained major math mistakes due to users messing up formulas. Now all the estimators spreadsheets are in the same format which makes it much easier for our chief estimator to review, and they have NO math errors. You cannot mess up the Calculations in the spreadsheet, because they are done by the database engine, not in formulas that the users can mess up.
Vorteile:
Sage Estimating brings together the best of both worlds, a database of knowledge (pricing, formulas, Assemblies) combined into a powerful spreadsheet. Databases are good for storing data, but estimators need spreadsheets to modify and review their information in. The ability to adjust groups of prices by percentages on-screen is a priceless feature, by rolling the adjustments down into the line-items.
Nachteile:
The Digitizer was replaced with eTakeoff that required a bridge program to interface the quantities with the spreadsheet. For our needs, the method of bringing back the measured quantity directly into the quantity field on the spreadsheet was better.

Sage is complex, amazing and expensive.
Kommentare: If I wasn't working such long and demanding hours, I would like to look into Sage University educational opportunities...as I do believe many questions I STILL have, could be answered there. ONE THING that would be useful, IMHO, would be a detailed listing of the online classes/tutorials that are available, and the list of topics/subjects that they deal with.
Vorteile:
Sage is an amazing product, with so MANY complex programs and modules. There are (literally) dozens of reports and functions that I still know little to nothing about (after 3 yrs of working with the product). It's got everything a general contract would ever need, and then some. Customer support (GOLD) is awesome (tho expensive) . 99% of the time, I have had pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful, experienced assistance from Customer Support. The individuals who work in Customer Support helped me make it that first year, and there is no question of that. Their patience and their availability (and their sense of humor) helped me retain my sanity, that first year (04/14 - 04/15)....hands down.
Nachteile:
The complexity of it....each module is multi-faceted and highly complex (and complicated). If a person comes on the scene (such as myself) with no prior construction experience, it's very difficult to simply "pick it up". Also, In order to have Gold Support (a genuine necessity, unless the office employee has a degree in accounting...OR...10 years of prior construction experience) is very expensive. We are a small construction company, and the thousands of dollars we pay, each year, for Gold Support, is not an easy check to write.
Falling Behind the times
Kommentare: I have used The full suite of Sage 300CRE products long before Timberline was acquired by Sage. Unfortunately it seems that innovation and product/feature development has been very slow since the acquisition by Sage. My biggest complaint over the past 5-years is the lack of web access, which in this day and age is unacceptable, especially in a collaborative environment such as construction. This is why we have transitioned from the PM module to Procore. Fortunately Procore is fairly compatible with Sage300 CRE accounting. It’s just a shame that Sage couldn’t keep up with the times and get a cloud based PM product to market in a timely manner.
Vorteile:
Sage 300 cre is robust. It can be all encompassing with “modules”. From Estimating (which is an excellent product) through the accounting modules to project management, the workflow is pretty seamless.
Nachteile:
The annual maintenance cost for a product that is not SAS is pretty high. It is not clouds accessible and project management modules has fallen behind the times, especially compared to a product like procore.
