I like because is easy to install, to configure and to admin. Also, is very easy to use it, in respect of build complex questionnaires. Collaborative work is very important nowadays and Survey Solutions allows this feature. For designing the questionnaires are not necessary high knowledge of programming or web design. Everything is possible just with the mouse and light keyboard intervention. The possibility of using API in monitoring and admin of the platform is an important step forward to automatization the processes. For complex conditional questions you can use C#, but the basic logical conditions are enough, in general. So, in one platform you will have the CAPI, CATI and CAWI of surveys. Using the GPS capabilities of mobile devices you can have the possibility of geocode the responses in a very easy and intuitive way. The reports tools are included, but most important is that you can create customized reports by using the paradata. Without modesty, I could say that the Survey Solutions platform will become the standard for high quality surveys in the coming years. Together with R and Python, Survey Solutions will increase the capabilities of National Statistics Offices to build "in house" very powerful surveys, with low costs and time bound.

Nachteile:

It is to easy to use and the speed of developing new features is very high. The speed of maintaining the updates into the support materials should be the same.

Excellent free survey tool with free hosting and great support

Kommentare: Thanks to survey solutions we have been able to convert a Fijian village household survey originally designed as a pen and paper interview to be performed using smartphones and tablets with minimal internet. The free hosting of the server also means we are not limited by the total lack of infrastructure in this area of the country.

Vorteile:

Ability to do the surveys offline in areas that do not have internet connectivity. Great user interface for the interview and tester applications to ensure the survey process is as easy as possible Multiple language setup is not hard and enables seamless switching between languages in both the application and web interface. Fantastic support responsiveness. The youtube designer videos were very useful.

Nachteile:

There is no inbuilt data analysis. The formats available for export are not easy to use without either paid software or significant development time. Any changes to the survey, no matter how small (even translation or question tweak) will update the interview version, meaning the user must either export interviews performed with both versions and somehow externally merge them or else run with a suboptimal questionnaire to avoid this issue.

Excellent CAI solution featuring one of the best user interfaces for interviewers I have seen.

Kommentare: It provides a reliable computer assisted interviewing platform, that has a very low entry threshold into development and a very steep learning curve. It has provided me with a means to capture very complex survey questionnaires and implement them in challenging environment with poor internet connectivity.

My cons are not so cons as they are a wishlist of functionality that would make this software even better. Lacking field supervisor app to manage the interviews locally while in the field and with no internet access; Inflexibility in using stored data to support the interviewing while maintaining the flexible allocation of interviews; Lack of question database support (neither public nor private); Lack of CATI functionality

My experience with survey solution has been very interesting. I hugely rely on this application.

Vorteile:

The scripting flexibility, making it easy for someone who has no background knowledge of computer programming to script and upload questionnaire on the application. I am also very excited about the supervisory role (Accepting and Rejecting of Interviews), which ensures the data that is sent to the headquarter is of good quality. Ability to restrict interviewers to the number of interviews you actually want to do per sector or enumeration. It also interests me to know that I can actually sit in a spot and monitor what is being on the field at the real time. Finally ability to download/export data in SPSS and STATA format

Nachteile:

1. The use of the internet to design questionnaire 2. Inability to download questions designed on rostering and those without rostering in a single data file

Kommentare: This product provides my organization with a FREE tool we can use with partners around the world with varying degrees of experience conducting CAPI surveys. I hope Survey Solutions sparks a drive toward standardization in features of CAPI software, to improve the quality of data collected in international surveys.

- format of paradata output is somewhat cumbersome, and not as easy to work with as the response data output.

The software is very convenient and has user-friendly interface. Its very much easy to learn and develop applications with very few logic. It contains all functionalities required for conducting a survey. It makes supervision very easy and most importantly it allows only interviewers to edit data not supervisors. It has several data formats and data can be downloaded any time it is required. Support team works and helps fast

Nachteile:

I think it would be much better is data could be stored temporarily in the device during data capturing, so that in case the tablet gets broken before synchronization, we can be able to retrieve that data.

It is easy to design and use. The best part is it's reliability and consistency of server.

Need to ask World Bank team to set up server space, which they do promptly. All the features mean the learning curve is steeper than ODK, QuickTapSurvey, and KoBoToolbox (but also more powerful)

Best choice for simple large-scale surveys

Kommentare: My organization have been using Survey Solutions for our household surveys and market research for nearly 2 years. Generally, I'm very content with the experience with Survey Solutions, as well as the support from the staff.

Vorteile:

Nachteile:

- Some constraints in designing the questionnaire (linked the questions, have to mannually input one by one question) - The user interface is not very friendly, currently in the scrolling style which is not easy to track for the enumerators. Other software have the ability to swipe the screen to go to the next question, which will save time for the enumerators and reduce the risks of skipping any questions.

Vorteile:

It is quite Easy to use and above all it is provided for free. All the dash board are easily convenient to use.

Nachteile:

When it comes to the validation part its quite difficult difficult as i am not that much familiar with the c sharp.

SS has eased my survey very much. It is a great tool, however, there is room for improvement.

Makes surveys easier than paper based once it has been design correctly. The software setup was made available via two modes cloud and local.

Nachteile:

When designing a questionnaire it is difficult to keep track of all the variables declared such as independent and dependant ones, hence I will an option that will show a mapping of any particular variable, giving the list of other variables that have link to other variables with enabling or validating conditions

The system is very powerful and versatile. I like the fact that Survey Solution is easy to scale up and has great functionality to monitor CAPI-based surveys with ease. Ability to save response offline is also greatly appreciated, especially when surveying indoor, as cellphone signal quickly gets spotty

Nachteile:

There is no feature to designate a question as required question (cannot be skipped).

Kommentare: This survey software is designed for CAPI surveys even in the most difficult to reach areas. It does not require an internet connection during interviews, and enables survey management to review data as soon as it is sent to the server. It provides a generous array of data quality reports, and gives survey managers the opportunity to reject data that are not correct. The only places you need to do any programming are for the skip pattern, or routing, and for validating responses. Even there, it is possible to use very simple logic to enforce consistency and accuracy in the field. Multiple languages are supported, and there is substantial online support available.

Kommentare: Currently using this platform for our surveys the support and use of the cloud servers, the ability to have a quick analysis turn around through the export features

Vorteile:

The platform is very easy to use and require little knowledge of advance functions for the creation of a very simple survey. Graphical user interface (GUI) nicely layout out with access to relevant features and functionality at a click away.

Nachteile:

Limited documentation on the available advance functions with examples, validation can be too complex with the use of the nested logical operators.
