A very reliable and easy to use solution for network monitoring

Vorteile:

For us, Pandora FMS proved to be a unique and very flexible solution for system monitoring, and it helped our organization a lot. Pandora FMS has a combination of many good features and it easily fits the organization with big environment. Our organization is multi OS environment and it really fits this criteria, and this was the main reason for finalizing Pandora FMS.

Nachteile:

I have complaints about their support, they are not bad but they really need to improve it to give a better customer experience. The second and last suggestion I am having for them is that they should make their graphics more futuristic to give them a good look.

Kommentare: The monitoring of our business needs a special vision to understand the values received by the monitoring. By adding Python script to manage data in entry, and PHP special views to give correct dashboard, it's a very powerful tool, that gives exact vision of the currently health of your system.

Vorteile:

The Pandora offers a large number of function, growing every month to cover all monitoring. It's customizable through PHP pages, Python Script, and can become a very dedicated monitoring tool. But, as a standard tool, with the Community Version (unpaid), it is already very powerful if you take time to configure properly. With the forum and bi-monthly update, it's always reactive to improvement and correction.

Nachteile:

The default views are a bit too much for developers and IT Manager. Needs some development to make it a great tools.

Having PandoraFMS system has proven to be crucial to us. It help us to evenly track and map out our devices, apps workstation, servers, OS ab and connections in our network. It has also integrated fully with our operations across our organization. It collects information from our operations and network components and summarise into reports and visual custom representation explaining the status, performance or any anomalies in the network. PandoraFMS provide a wide array of advanced features that were overwhelming and caused a steep learning curve at the onset but once we got the hang of it, we treasure the extensive and unified monitoring capabilities.

The business processes and Tech development team are quite agile to our requirements. Though, there are few slip ups often observed while performing integration of softwares and servers across multi cloud environments. We have also requested for bringing in the customized version of the same at lower cost and price to have its maximum acceptability across all vendors and partners easily without any second thought.

Kommentare: In general, a good experience where I have been asked to monitor several servers with Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as network devices, where I have to make SNMP queries and report the health of the device, to generate trends and performance.

Vorteile:

I like about Pandora FMS that infrastructure monitoring can be implemented in a simple way, it already has several integrated templates, so you just have to choose what you want to monitor the device and that's it, the configuration has already been applied.

Nachteile:

I would like you to improve the part where a template or configuration has already been applied, now modify it, in some cases you have to understand what the script is doing.

Kommentare: I prefer used this tools because its to good for initiators in this world of monitoring servers,routers,etc and it is easy to notification with chats online (slack)

Vorteile:

Interface web is really good, not requiered too many knowledge to get report and graphs

I think that way to get and add agents its little difficult in comparison with other toosl (prtg)

The platform offers a variety of features and it’s very complete. I used it for a limited time and found it very convenient and not so hard to use after some time. Good options for cloud monitoring, network monitoring, etc.

May be somewhat expensive for some users. Since it has plenty of features it’s a little confusing at first glance but one can learn quickly.

It can be controlled remotely. Management of SLA and report becomes easier with Pandora. It can also able to create custom modules for users and help it to monitor also

Nachteile:

There is a major issue with its price. It has compatibility issues with different systems. Sometimes it crashes and is not able to respond to the request of the user. I face issues in integrating with other monitoring features.

Kommentare: Started with the virtual appliance which made testing the product easy for evaluation. Once the decision was made it was decided to build as per the easy to follow instructions on the website for a CentOS distribution. It has been a solid experience backed with support by Pandora FMS team and the community. Customization was simple with the module library.

Vorteile:

Pandora FMS allows our company to accurately maintain an up to the minute easy to digest visual on inventory and security through out our network for certain industry compliance of workstations and servers. We are a multi OS environment and Pandora FMS fits nicely as it supports all our Operating Systems with provided modules.

Nachteile:

Better support for custom themes would be greatly appreciated. Ability to have a dashboard with all assets displayed with quick hover over status. Think at-a-glance style view of all assets on one page. Would make it easy for Data center admins to get an overall picture.

The "Recon Server" makes a quick and clean work; after a week the "Prediction Server" takes advantage!

For Debian/Ubuntu maybe a little tricky; the configuration interface maybe hard at glance because is for general purpose along all the program.

Highly recommendable monitoring solution

Kommentare: I just recently discovered Pandora FMS a few years back and am surprised how far its come along in terms of development and integrations. In its latest version we can see how its ease of use and general development have been improved upon largely. It's always been about pure flexibility and customisation, and it just keeps growing in that aspect. You're never going to have to see information about your infrastructure that you consider you don't need. As an IT consultant for medium and large businesses I always recommend it as a less costly alternative to Zabbix or Nagios, since it provides the same features and more at a much lesser price.
Apart from this, I'm very glad to have had the chance to be in touch with the team behind this software and now that they are very willing to help make a company's work as easy as possible with their product. Apart from that, their general customer service is very efficient and has a very special way with customers which always proves to be helpful.
