Gigatrak, The Need for it

Vorteile:

it provides me my needs at my work level. monitoring, unspection, tracking(mostly barcode based)

Nachteile:

when you need to install additional designed report/s, format/s , or functions you have to pay.

Giga Trak

Vorteile:

This is a great tool to use to run reports to see when tools are or who they are checked out to. We also track a lot of information with our vehicles, and this is very helpful, so we don't have to have several different software packages.

Nachteile:

It is time consuming to get set up, but once it is set up it is so easy to use. I am sure that there are features that i haven't even touched on yet.

Vorteile:

I love this system. It works so well for how we use it. I am able to find "mistakes" made by other users fairly easily.

Nachteile:

Needs CUSTOMIZED REPORTING and ADMIN EDIT capabilities!! These two features would tip the scales for this product. The standardized reports aren't ever exactly what I need them to be, so a filter feature or drop down selection of what I want to see would be amazing. Also, when my team makes mistakes, it would be much more efficient to allow me (the administrator) to be able to just "edit" those mistakes (or even delete the transaction so I can recreate it correctly). This feature should only be for the admin though to avoid misuse.

Fast and easy set-up. Support is done in the US and they take the time to explain what is going on.

Kommentare: The overall experience with has been perfect. We got to speak to the same person when we had questions on the software. She was well spoken and knew her job without sending us to some one else. Not a company that were they sell you the product they forget about you. They were their from start to finish.

Vorteile:

I like the ideal that we got a clean inventory of are shop. It made it easier to spot check what is on a job site. Also are driver and shop foreman like the ideal they can move check-in tools from one job site and re check the out to another site without returning to the shop.

Nachteile:

I would like to have a way of changing the network password (not the login password).

A no-brainer & necessary for factual / knowledgeable business decisions

Kommentare: Overall, its phenomenal. The most difficult part is understanding the flow and why it works the way it does. Much like driving a car, once you understand it's operating characteristics, it's as easy as a couple clicks of the mouse.

Vorteile:

If you want to make smart business decisions, the number-1 thing you need is data. Factual evidence to support your goals & motives. Gigatrak helps to provide that data, showing what your assets are doing. It gives you the who-what-when-where-how-why, and implements that data over time, providing you with the evidence based practice information needed to make solid decisions. It can apply to your fleet, tools, even consumables. You can find ways to cut costs and increase profitability through proper reinvestment. The possibilities are near endless. As long as you get the right people, and get them trained in Gigatrak's usage well, it will absolutely be one of the best decisions you can make and implement.

Nachteile:

The cloud software, while excellent still, can be troublesome for intranet/internet balancing with internal networking. Internal servers will need special permissions and routing to accommodate filing and remote desktop usage. Its great but can be an extra unforeseen expense from your tech team.

Kommentare: It has been a good experience thus far, however I am still the only one that uses the system because of how cumbersome the software can be with regards to access and digging up information (good job security I guess). Overall this system has added value to our operations at marginal cost.

Vorteile:

I like the high level overview of all the gear, and the features to track gear metadata and maintenance records. Without these features we would be reliant upon excel and would have a complicated endeavor to integrate these features into 1 cohesive system.

Nachteile:

I dislike how many iterations and passwords I need to enter into the system. I dislike that I need to be logged into the system in order for the automated emails to work. It is in my work scope to eventually pass this system off to an administrator, however I foresee challenges with that due to the amount of facets there are to maintain this system. However there is a learning curve to any software so that's not a huge problem.We frequently buy new gear, and there is meta data associated to that gear that is crucial to job requirements and quoting. I dislike how I do not have options to see the culmination of that metadata (i.e. the user defined fields). So currently I have to enter into each tool specifically, navigate to the page with the metadata, and log that information manually. Why can I not select the class of tool and specify the metadata I need to export en masse?

Gigatrak is very useful to track equipment location for 5000 pieces of test equipment.

Kommentare: Overall, this is a great tool to keep track of test equipment and have recommended for other departments.

Vorteile:

Ease of use - Engineers can easily check in/out equipment.

Nachteile:

There were dificulties getting the system to work withing BSC because of it being a cloud based system - BSC has very tight IT securities.

Honest review

Kommentare: For the most part it’s a great addition to companies that have lots of tools and equipment they want to track and schedule maintenance on.

Vorteile:

We use this daily to check in and out tools to crews, employees, and locations. We also assign barcodes to employees and our fleet of trucks.

Nachteile:

You have to purchase a device liscence for every device used. So the individual employee can’t just use their cell phone to check in or out tools

Inventory

Vorteile:

I do like that the system makes issuing and receiving equip quick and easy, I am able to pull up an item or group to see what's on the shelf to what's in the field, who has what.

Nachteile:

I do find the system too difficult to work as has too many functions that are not aligned, such as Cat to tools to Check in/out when trying to find or issue equip there is an requirement to switch back and forth.

Very useful friendly, easy to navigate. The history is very useful, helping me to track the assets.

Nachteile:

I don't see any issue as of now using this tool tracking system.

i feel like it is designed for a library to check out laptops

Kommentare: simple system. solves some of our problems but i would like a system that we can taylor to our busness better. Gigatrak is too rigid

Vorteile:

the mobile app check in and check out process is good

multiple barcodes are tied to 1 job. when that job is over non of them are tied together so i cant consume them

Kommentare: It's a good system and does what I need it to do. I wish the reports were more customizable without paying extra.

Vorteile:

The tool system is very helpful and including barcodes ad printer for barcodes is very helpful. The app is also useful since my scanner does not connect to the internet.

Nachteile:

The gigatrak scanner does not connect to the internet and Gigatrak cannot help me.

Great Tool Tracking System

Vorteile:

The ease of use, the ability to import current inventory using a simple spreadsheet template.

Nachteile:

I am sure there will be things that are missing that I would like to have, however as of right now we are new to using the system and it is working in the capacity that we need.

Kommentare: So far we truly enjoy it. It saves labor costs and time invested entering and tracking.

Vorteile:

The ease of entry. The customizable fields. Binned item feature. Cloud based.

Nachteile:

I have no complaints yet. This system is much more user friendly that our previous system.

The tool transferring is a bit involved, but not bad.

Tool and fleet tracking

Kommentare: Really good with contact and support very quick to implement program from existing tool program

Vorteile:

Ease of finding locations of items checked to the feild. Tech support with [sensitive content hidden] and sales with [sensitive content hidden] are awesome when comes to training.

Nachteile:

Tool barcode numbers that start with zeros in excel will not recognize them

Quick Reference Life Saver

Kommentare: Working with a company that has well over 2000 tools, we are experiencing less headaches trying to locate tools on our jobsites. Documenting and tracking tools is and will be a continuous process in the months and year to come. I am extremely satisfied with the product.

Vorteile:

Finding tools is key for us. I believe it is easy to use. We are still in the process of inventory do to the large quantity of tools.

Nachteile:

We are a company that had implemented a previous tracking system 12 years ago prior to purchasing the GigaTrak system. As a prior user to a similar system, the transition has been easy for me. We/I really like the phone App that we are implementing. Time will tell if GigaTrak will be a disappointment, but for now, no issues here.

Would Recommend

Vorteile:

The ease of you, and accuracy are my favorite things about the system.

Nachteile:

We use the system for FA management/ accounting compliance. It would be helpful if reports could be exported in Excel. The functionality that exists doesn't work on our system because of the way it was set up. You also can't back date retirement dates.

Simplicity

Vorteile:

Simple and effective, our company started a trial in one project and is now expanding the use to every project.

Nachteile:

The overall feedback is positive until now, we're now working in expansion and integration, maybe we will have some cons later.
