Great Product

Vorteile:

Without Delphix, my team wouldn't be able to support the business without a significant amount of capital and people. Quickly and automatically virtualizing data for testing and development environments allows our distributed 24/7 teams to focus on what matters - releasing new products quickly.

Nachteile:

As with most products, the UI can be improved, but this isn't a major concern.

Delphix Dynamic Data Platform

Vorteile:

The organization that I work for does a lot of database-centric software development. Our production databases are relatively large and we need be able to quickly provision, refresh and rewind approximately 10 copies of production for development and QA. The database virtualization technology in Delphix allows us to do this in minutes without the need to request additional SAN storage. (Adding a fully-functional development copy of a 5TB production database requires only 100GB of additional storage.) We also use Delphix's fully-integrated data masking solution, which ensures that development instances are de-identified, using masking algorithms that are consistent across all of our different software platforms (on different RDBMS) without the need to run SQL jobs. Delphix has also become our solution for provisioning reporting copies--faster and more flexible than log shipping and as reliable.

Nachteile:

The product is expensive, although partially offset by the storage savings. It is hard to quantify in dollar terms what the product has meant for us in terms of increased agility and software development efficiency but the benefits are considerable and, in my view, more than justify the cost.

Vorteile:

Ease of use, flexible enough to be used for many business use cases of all sizes. Scales very well, we have used to expedite refreshes with a SAP asset with a 55TB Oracle DB. Now takes about 2 hours to do a Virtual DB back to physical. And now this is a "routine" step in our overall refresh process. Development teams now operating in a "self-service" model which frees up project and support resources. Delphix application is very intuitive, easy to learn.

Nachteile:

Needs to move a little faster to keep up with the latest SAP technologies (e.g. S4 HANA).

Kommentare: Database refreshes are faster (1TB refresh natively takes about 2 hours to complete). Delphix refresh completes in under 15 minutes

-parallel (sql server) database refreshes are limited and slower - database properties are not copied from source - environment refreshes required (vdb) to minimize the dSource footprint (in terms of storage)

Kommentare: We are one of the early adopters of Delphix, we love the product and what it can do to meet our needs. Also, their support team is second to none. Exceptionally pleased with the support team providing timely help with everything related to Delphix product and beyond.

Vorteile:

Delphix enables Time to Market to providing an exceptional service to internal IT customers; Developers to support teams.

Nachteile:

Still depending on NFS old protocols. It will be good to see some more advanced NFS protocol supports from Delphix team
