Super easy to use and saves your files to the cloud.

Vorteile:

I have used many takeoff programs and this program is the best bang for the buck. I really like that is saves your files to the cloud. You can access the files from anywhere with internet. The program is really easy to use.

Nachteile:

I would like to see hatch patterns added to the area takeoff colors. I feel there needs to be more options. I would also like to have an option to turn on the quantity giver window.

Simple and Flexible

Vorteile:

The ability to create involved assemblies of products and simply click to add all the right products for each situation is a serious time saver.

Nachteile:

The product and pricing lists need to be easier to manage and update. We have pricing updates or new products about every quarter. To update that info is a hassle to do it one at a time or having to work through support to get an export then format all the new data then send it back to import it.

Does the job but needs improvement

Kommentare: Your take off software needs improvement. We've waited over a year for significant updates and they haven't occurred. We have subscribed again but we won't be unless updates are made shortly as our business is growing rapidly and we need software that will keep up and OST will keep up.

Vorteile:

It's better than a lot of other take-off software. Is in colour and is easily printable. The support is always there.

Nachteile:

There are many things OST does that Stack does not. 1. Being able to select the dimensions of the 'count' function. ie; 2000x500mm rectangle. 2. Being able to re-assign a measurement to another measurement. ie; I measured an area for 10 minutes as turf but it was actually garden. Select the area, right click, re-assign to garden. This means you don't have to delete the item and waste more time. 3. Being able to overlay plans. ie; Your client issues a new set of plans and you need to check the difference between the old and the new. 4. Being able to calculate multiple measurements in one. ie; I want a m2 area with my measurement so I can calculate mulch however, this is in a planterbox and I also need to calculate the soil depth as well as drainage cell to walls so I really need m2, m3 and perimeter functions all engaged. 5. We're not interested in Stack Estimating as it is all Microsoft excel based, like most other programs, making it only based on rates, rather than being able to adjust accordingly for site constraints using different machinery and access requirements. 6. Your legend key needs updating. It doesn't fit correctly on the page nicely.

Job Cost Estimating

Kommentare: I have literally increased my productivity by 1,000% I am doing 10-times more bids and with much greater accurracy, no one questions my take offs.

Vorteile:

The use of pop-ups when you "Mouse-Over" items is very effective, makes things very intuitive, lessens time-to-learn how to use the system.

Nachteile:

Need to have more than 50 characters when naming take-off items, at least 100 characters.

Great Option for Takeoff Software

Kommentare: STACK is a great solution for takeoffs - I previously used On Screen Takeoff which I really enjoyed using, but STACK offers a better user experience in my opinion. I am overall pleased with how the software works.

Vorteile:

Takeoff is very easy to use, Assemblies feature is amazing and saves so much time once it is setup. I appreciate that the system is cloud based, this really makes things run much more smoothly and easily. Integrations with Dropbox and Google Drive are also helpful.

Nachteile:

Organization of takeoffs could be improved. There is no undo button which sounds minimal but it can be extremely cumbersome at times. I also dislike that measurements can't be set to round to the nearest whole number - who honestly needs to measure down to a tenth of an inch shown in decimal format? These are really minor things in the overall user experience but annoying nonetheless. Overall I am very happy with Stack over alternative options for takeoff software.

Great bang for the buck estimating software.

The customer support is top notch with instant and clear replies with real people. The learning curve for creating takeoff's is very user friendly.

Nachteile:

The proposal generation is limited on what you can show or customize with the layout.

DCC, LLC Review

Kommentare: I use it solely for taking off projects and it is great for that.

Vorteile:

Ease of use of take off feature. We use STACK solely for taking off jobs.

Nachteile:

Not user friendly on cell phone. Wish there was an app so I could look up take off quantities and take something off in the field on my phone. Also, I wish the estimating feature was easier to use. I probably just don't understand it very well yet.

Great Product

Vorteile:

Very easy to learn and use. Can navigate the software very simply

Nachteile:

Small tweaks such as being able to move the plan selection pane to not block the tabs of open plans. Also, a better clouding edit that allows for free-form shapes and that stays where placed when exporting or printing.

We couldn't do what we do without STACK!

Vorteile:

All the takeoff tools available to us allow my team and I to not only perform takeoffs, but do simple shop drawings and sketches. There's always new technology available for no additional charge.

Nachteile:

The only complaint I would ever have would be when OUR internet is slow, something the STACK doesn't control.

Easy to use Estimating software!

Kommentare: We are bidding more projects then ever and Stack is an important part of the workflow.

Vorteile:

We love stack for our takeoffs. Cloud service is an essential service as we like to open plans from multiple workstations and conference rooms. We also have multiple estimators who frequently work from home. This software is extremely useful for all of those circumstances. The software itself is intuitive and easy to use.

Nachteile:

The only thing that really bothers me is just load speed of plans.

The fact that it is all online and our ops guys can see the plans at the jobsite from their phone.

Nachteile:

I love using your software but there are 2 things that I would like for you to improve.Sometimes I upload multiple pages for a project.When I am working on the takeoff you can see On the left the plans that you are working on listed on listed by plan name . It would be nice to be able to go to the pages that you are working on by simply clicking on the page name that is listed on the left side.Slope factorIts great that we are able to measure the basic slope by using the built in slope factor calculator. But that is only helpful for measuring the basic slope of the roof area and the rake and sidewall. But it would be great if you can add the valley and hip factor as well. It is hard to get the exact measurement without that because the hip / valley slope factor is different than the basic slope of the roof. Simple and Easy to Use!

Kommentare: For very quick masonry estimates, nothing beats this software. For more advanced/detailed prints, as long as you take your time this will work just fine. I haven't seen a friendlier piece of software at an affordable price that gives you want you need without being headache to setup.

Vorteile:

We looked for a very long time for a very simple takeoff program and this is definitely it. We have used this program for the past year and a half to get measurements on masonry and it has not failed us. Our trade does not need super advanced features so this suites us perfectly. If you have a properly scaled PDF then you can hit the ground running for your measurements. Otherwise, determining your own scale is very simple to do and I've even taken pictures of blueprints with my phone to roughly estimate one of our simpler prints in under 10 prints from the camera snapping. Amazing.

Nachteile:

Due to this program being available online only sometimes it can be finicky if you have a poor internet connection or if there is some sort of (extremely rare) maintenance. As stated earlier, we use this for masonry so it does not need advanced features. But as with all estimating, you will still need a basic knowledge of your trade's quirks. If you can't see a wall on an elevation because it is returning into the building then you will need to approximately draw it in under your elevation based off of a foundation plan or floor plan. Not super hard but it just will not do all of the work for you.

Great Product

Kommentare: It has drastically reduced my time in generating estimates. All my projects are online through the software, so I can go back years and easily see my takeoffs/measurements and plans. I have also been able to catch errors from subcontractors by checking their measurements through the software. It has made for more accurate estimates, reduced time in generating estimates, and easu project file management.

Vorteile:

It's easy to figure quantities. Very similar to AutoCAD with layers and calculating areas, volumes, lengths, etc. I frequently take screen shots of my measurements to give to the foreman to see how I've calculated materials.

Nachteile:

I come from an AutoCAD background in landscape architecture, so I wish it had more drafting features, i.e. offess, align, midpoint, etc. My company installs a lot artificial turf and I have to configure the layout. Having more drafting options would really help with the takeoffs. It's great for measuring areas, but configuring layout from a landscape architect's drawing can be cumbersome.

Hands down best out there in support and product.

Cloud based and customer service are the best out there. They are forward thinking and always chasing perfection. They may not catch perfection but they kick excellence in the butt.

Nachteile:

I wish I had cheaper licenses for my estimating department.

One of the best available software for estimating

Kommentare: Before I used stack ct, our company used an estimating system known to many; planswift. When we made the switch to stack ct about a year ago, I was suprised we hadn't switched before. The ease of use and ergonomical set up makes this cloud based system great for not only one, but many user to edit all at once. Even better, we upgraded about 2 months ago to the full Stack Pro and are now using the items and assemblies options. I can run a full job and have my estimate in under 30 minutes thanks to this awesome feature.
One of the main reasons I will be staying with stack is their level of customer service, no matter what the problem is, or the time you are having the problem, the service is top level and extremely helpful. So far, I have not had one problem they haven't been able to fix.
I would highly recommend this great product for any estimators looking to make their job more simple.

Vorteile:

Constant Upgrades, high level of customer service, user friendly and very detailed reports and takeoffs.

Nachteile:

You cannot copy an entire project. Also, you can't download all the plans at once. You are able to export marked up files but if you want to download the entire plans that you have uploaded (in case you deleted the original files) you will have to select each plan to download; very time consuming.

Great Cloud Based Software for Estimating & Takeoff

Kommentare: 10/10, all of my users love it and all of our PMs say it's the best takeoff tool thus far in their careers. Even the more seasoned ones.

Vorteile:

Fantastic takeoff features, great training and support, one of if not the first cloud-based takeoff platforms. All for a reasonable price.

Nachteile:

There are no real negatives to STACK that me or any of our users can think of.

Great Takeoff Tool!

Kommentare: Overall Stack is great and is saving our company time & money! It took a little bit for additional users in our office to get up to speed, but they are cruising right along now. Troy and the guys in support always get back to me promptly. I've been using Stack for about 8 years now and couldn't be happier!

Vorteile:

Cloud Storage, Takeoff Storage, Calendar, Accumulating Units of Measurement, Customer Support, Copy/Paste, Upload Times, Legend, Highlight, Labels, Auto-load from Smartbidnet ITB's, able to view takeoffs from mobile version & able to view other user's takeoffs on our account.

Nachteile:

Going through the plan pages seems cumbersome at times. I wish Stack could go back to the Cloud Takeoff Silverlight version, much better UI. Not being able to reorganize the plan sheet tabs by a left click and drag, have to close each one of them down and then go through the correct page sequence to display in the order you want. Chrome issue of having to multi select every item you want to quickly delete. Not being able to share a takeoff instantly, instead we have to download the plan into a PDF and send the PDF.

estimating issues

Kommentare: Up until recently my experience was great. Something has to give in the estimating software area. Has to be made easier. You have to be able to change pricing and add materials easier as you are working on your bid. there are times you forget things that you have to add later. As contractors we need to be able to set our profit and loss. Not have percentages pre-filled into Stacks estimating sheets.

Vorteile:

I think the estimating program as far as taking off in general is as easy as it gets. But when you get you your estimating software that's where the problems begin.

Nachteile:

The estimating sheets do not let you change pricing easily unless you have all that set up in your costs already and metal is changing so rapidly as an estimator you need to be able to change numbers on your take-off sheet as you are working on it. Also the cost calculator worked just fine until recently. Now i can't even send excel sheets to the calculator because they don't work. A month ago everything was fine.

Excellent value!

Kommentare: We have been using StackCT for over two years now and you cannot beat the bang for your buck. Having the owners directly involved with the process gives it a "local, family" business feel and that is something we value and choose to support. It's ease of use and self-explanatory nature make it a no brainer for our small family business. Our only issue is that it can lag pretty heavily at times making take-offs a bit frustrating. Overall we highly recommend StackCT to anyone looking for a great Estimating Software for a killer price.

Vorteile:

Easy of use. Staff and support. Cloud based. Was able to seamlessly work while out of town.

Nachteile:

Very slow uploads. Can lag heavily at times (we are using gigabit internet). Can be slow and frustrating while doing take offs from time to time. When updates are running you can't access your take-off system. No, "offline" option.

Frustrating

Kommentare: REPORTS REPORTS REPORTS. Please work on this section. I think it could be a great selling tool for you if this was more advanced

Vorteile:

I do somewhat like the software and will continue to use it. Autocount can be a great feature but is not worth it right now.

Nachteile:

Uploading drawings they do not stay in the order of the original pdf. Printing takeoffs they do not EVER print in a logical order and I have to spend extra time to organize the drawings. No set Library, there needs to be a set library where I can edit things without being in a project. Autocount is a cool feature but has SO many bugs that it makes it not worth it. I have had a lot of issues with how long it takes to upload drawings lately and the software seems to run slow even when I am just doing a takeoff. The way reports export in excel makes it not even worth it to use that function. I understand every company is different with how they need reports so it would be nice if like other softwares you can pick exactly what you want to export or see on the report. i.e Quickbooks does great at this. I have stopped using chat because I always get the answer that the software had an upgrade or there are large amounts of people uploading documents. Hopefully as the company grows that can get fixed. I had 2 projects in one day not ever load.

You get what you pay for: clean, sleek and useful platform

Kommentare: I have enjoyed the customer service experience, the frequency with which the platform is often updated. The design is modern, surface is easy to use, very user friendly and not technical at all. After a few hours you can easily learn all the software has to offer.

Vorteile:

The software is easy to get used to, and after a few hours of clicking around one can easily (without further support) learn all the features and how to work them. There are more features that just take-off measuring which is awesome for customers who can take advantage of it. We have other ways to get our estimates sent out but for those contractors who want a unified platform they do a great job.

Nachteile:

The price is a little steep, but we have not found another software that is as easy to use and reliable as stack, so we are okay with paying the price. If their prices keep increasing at each renewal however, we might no longer be able to afford it as a small business.

STACK makes performing a takeoff, quick, efficient and easy!

Kommentare: I truly like STACK, everything is in one place and makes my job so much easier.

Vorteile:

What I like most about STACK is the reporting feature. Once I perform a takeoff and run the report I can see quantities and weights of the steel on the project. It speeds up the entire estimating process.

Nachteile:

My least like is the cloud based system. I know everything is cloud based now, but when there is an internet outage or I am on location without signal or WIFI I don't have access to the info.

A must have

Kommentare: Stack is enabling us to put together bids quickly and efficiently.

Vorteile:

Stack has made migrating to new construction a breeze. We were putting pencil to paper to measure off printed plans which was expensive and prone to errors which could make or break a winning bid. With Stack a lot of the human errors are erased from the mix.

Nachteile:

I'm still trying to figure out how to compile a bid straight out of Stack.
