Affordable inventory management for makers

Kommentare: I wish I had Craftybase when I started making in 2011 because it's daunting trying to start from scratch with so many products that contain components I make as well as common materials. Adding new components with new products would be more manageable. All my items include components I manufacture myself (laser cutting. painting) so having to enter "recipes" for all components individually is tedious. For example, I can copy a recipe for an ornament (three different components, ribbon, tag) but when I create components, I can't copy the recipe from a similar component (cardboard shape, primer paint, color paint, topcoat) and this gets really slow with all the colors I have. Recently a new client ordered $800 of obsolete items I hadn't entered into Craftybase. It took 10 hours to enter component recipes for 2 products x 4 colorways, some of which had common components and many had common materials. I assumed I'd be able to generate a pick list to total the common components & materials. Nope! Back to the spreadsheet to group common components... but I didn't try to automate the paint required, so I wasted a lot of time going to the hardware store for more primer. Probably not making minimum wage on this order.

Essential for a small product-based business

Kommentare: At this point, craftybase is essential to my business. It has its bugs and doesn't always have an easy way to get pack to my previous screen after clicking through to another element but that is minor compared to the benefit

Vorteile:

It keeps me organized without having to make a million excel documents. Product/material stock numbers are automatically adjusted when you make an order/manufacture. The recipe option is also super helpful because sometimes I can't remember exactly which size/style of hardware I used to create a product

Nachteile:

If you forget to enter a product "manufacture" and update the quantity through a "stocktake", it won't calculate cost for an order. The import function added multiple items from my different integration sites even with matching SKU's. This took a while to fix and ultimately I downgraded my subscription because I didn't find benefit from the higher tier (I also only have a few orders a month to enter so order import wasn't very high on my priority list)

Expensive buggy

Kommentare: I regret spending time on it. Don't use it as you get use to that will be harder to leave

Expensive, poor integrations, no cuctomizations at all. Simple errors not fixed tru years

So glad I went with Craftybase!

Kommentare: It has changed the way I do business and clarified things like my cost of products that I make and sell.

Vorteile:

Not having to do all the calculations in a spreadsheet anymore.

Nachteile:

I only signed up for the Pro version and I wish it had some other features that are only available in more expensive versions, such as handling consignment locations, etc.

I love Craftybase so much! My business wouldn't survive and thrive without it.

Vorteile:

I love their customer service. Whenever I have questions or wants, I just reach out and they are quick to respond and very helpful

Nachteile:

I wish the inventory synced with Shopify so that my inventory everywhere was correct.

Great Product

Kommentare: Very Positive and has been a huge influence on our spending control, material and product organization and also tax time.

Vorteile:

It has helped us realize our disorganization with materials and where we may have spent unnecessary money. Also has been an amazing help with ensuring that we are charging properly for our product.

Nachteile:

The only issue we have had is not a problem with Craftybase but more with how we run our business. It did take some time for me to understand how everything connected within the program, but they do have good tutorials, which I should have read ahead of time. We discovered during our set up that we were not consistent across our sales channels with product names which caused extra work on our part but was again our fault. The program has made us think a lot more about the business side and organizing everything.

I like how easy it is to use and helps with product manufacturing, inventory control, sales and expenses.

Nachteile:

Sometimes it can be very detailed, and while that is good, at first it was something I had a hard time with.

Fantastic for inventory management and finding true value

Kommentare: Overall it has been great, just some technical difficulties that aren't intuitive to fix.

Vorteile:

Craftybase allows me to track manufactures, material inventory, and product inventory, and finding the true value of each. It also makes pricing suggestions for products and see how much I make each order.

Nachteile:

The components and auto-manufacturing feature is a bit tricky to setup. I also have some products that I sell individually AND as a set where it must be a component, but the inventory is always off since I manufacture them as one and sell them the same way. It's a major hassle trying to correct.

Didn't take long to learn, and help was easily available

Kommentare: So far, I am loving Craftybase. It is exactly what I was looking for for my business to help me streamline and be able to order materials more efficiently, make components and products more efficiently and be able to add expiry dates/lot #'s to track. The more I learn, the better it gets. I have to say that I am also very impressed with the customer service as each time I have needed to contact them for any questions or issues that have come up, they have always answered within the timeline that they have laid out in their response emails, and they have asked pertinent questions to help figure out how to solve my problem.

Vorteile:

I like how there was a checklist available to help on where to start. I have reached out to the support desk a few times and have had great help and I didn't have to wait long for someone to answer my questions. I love the quick at-a-glance dashboard that shows me my products and materials and stock levels as well as the graph that shows profit margins and expenses.

Nachteile:

I would really like to be able to delete products that I no longer have (discontinued) to sell instead of only being able to archive them.

Craftybase Review

Vorteile:

I like being able to cost product with a recipe and for the general works of business management.

Nachteile:

The cost due to exchange rate. Wish I could find a product the same but not have to pay double the subscription price.

Great product but terrrible customer support

Kommentare: None, I was hoping to use it as an essential took to keeping out business in check. I don't know how but if you look at programs like Shopify - they offer such great support and for the same price. I believe you could offer better support if you could grow your business but how fast is the business growing if you have people like me just giving up.

Vorteile:

I loved the fact that it had all the categories I needed to keep up with production and material use.

Nachteile:

What I didn't like is the 24 to 48 hours to get a response and the fact that the data base goes down. I have a small team. Having to wait 24 to 48 hours to sort something out isn't feasible. We kept just going manual and I finally decided the time required to keep it up to date just wasn't worth it if we kept having stumbling blocks.

Just what I needed!

Vorteile:

I love the ease and accuracy of this program. It helps keep our inventory in check, along with organizing our business I would recommend this program to anyone and everyone!! I tried a handful of different methods and programs and this is by far my favorite!

Nachteile:

The pricing may be a little steep, but I am so happy with the product, that I am willing to pay the price.

Invaluable for my small business

Allows me to track, price and log my materials, products and sales with ease in one place. Saves me time and multiple spreadsheets abs helps me keep on track of my small business

Nachteile:

It takes a while to work out how best to use the system and it can be time consuming logging materials, products and manufactures

Could not imagine my business without Craftybase

Vorteile:

I love the functionality of this product. I make candles and cosmetic products and the recipies, manufactures, expense tracking and order tracking is awesome. Much better than my previous overly complicated excel spreadsheet.

Nachteile:

I wish there was an app for imputting expenses on the go or pulling recipies. My office is not near my manufacturing area so I have to write things down before and after inputting the data.

A Game-Changer for a Jewelry Brand

Kommentare: Overall I find Craftybase so helpful. I have a better handle on my inventory as well as accurate pricing.

Vorteile:

Craftybase plays a vital role in my jewelry-making business. It allows me to effectively manage and track the extensive assortment of metals, components, and findings that form the foundation of a jewelry brand.

Nachteile:

There's bit of a learning curve but the videos, and customer support, are wonderful.

Essential Software for Crafting and Inventory Management

Kommentare: Craftybase has been vital for transforming my hobby to a business. I would recommend it for anyone who would like to get a better overview of their inventory and sales (and have already referred several of my friends). It can require a bit of manual input/workaround at times to get it to work the way you want, and I hope they'll keep adding functionalities in the future.

Vorteile:

Craftybase covers all needs I have as a small business owner / craftsperson. It enables lets you track recipes, manufactures, inventory, sales and costs, which is crucial if you're going to run a craft business of any kind. It has a great selection of reports that you can pull - from expenses (for tax purposes), to material overview, to category sales and many more. It's a decent price for what you're getting and I have not found any other software with the same user friendly interface and functionalities. Support is very responsive and usually gets back to you within 24 hours.

Nachteile:

Some minor annoyances, such as no easy option to add bulk expenses (such as 10x postage fees for 10 different orders), edit imported orders, or handle bundles. It means putting in a bit more manual effort, but I'm hoping these are things that will be added over time. I also wish they would keep backup data for longer - I went maybe half a year without renewing my membership, and had to re-enter all the data again when I decided to renew.

Awesome Software

Kommentare: The customer service has been exceptional from the very start of this service and has not waned as they have gotten bigger. They always email me back within a few days if not the next day with a great answer that solves my issue or they tell me when my issue will be solved or put me on an email list for updates about the feature I request.

Vorteile:

I like being the robustness of the reports craftybase offers. I like how it helps me to track my inventory in a detailed way. I like how it helps me figure out the cost of my item and helps me to automatically figure out the least amount I should charge for it on each channel. It integrates with my accounts on amazon and shopify, which makes inventory a breeze.

Nachteile:

I don't love paying every month. Also, recently, I had to do some projections for how much of something to buy. I'd like it to have a feature that would look at my average usage of something over the last year, per month, and how much was currently in stock to tell me how much I should by.

Using Craftybase to Improve Manufacturing and Track Costs

Kommentare: Currently able to describe our costs in terms of US Dollars per gram, and able to average our inventory into a proper Schedule C tax form. Their price guidance feature also enables us to make our business more sustainable.

Vorteile:

- Tools for tracking individual manufacture events. - Tracking material lots, traceability reports. - Expense and material tracking. - Cycle Inventory Interfaces - Category feature allows tracking manufacture failure reasons - GMP encouragement and functionality

Nachteile:

Interface is a bit slow in terms of UI. Some reports could be improved. Small new features are sometimes slow to be developed, despite requesting nearly two years ago.

Good, and hoping it will become great

Kommentare: Overall, I like it, and I appreciate that they keep adding features. The inventory system is really necessary for someone like me, and there are very few programs at this price point that will do it.

Vorteile:

The software does the thing a small manufacturer like me needs most: keeps an inventory of supplies, manufactures, etc. It does it well, for the most part. It also handles multiple sales channels well, and gives me a good idea of costs.

Nachteile:

The difficulty comes when you, say, want to sell off some of your inventory, or make a gift basket from your manufactured goods, or sometimes sell a pack of two instead of one. The software does not handle that well at all. It also isn't a full-fledged bookeeping program (you can't issue a credit, for instance). I'm not sure it needs to be, but it is a caveat.

Great Software for most craft businesses

Kommentare: Overall I have found Craftybase to be useful and I will continue to use this software. If my business were structured a bit different, with less products and a condensed material base I would say this software is perfect.

Vorteile:

I love that I can track materials I use and that each material can be linked to several different products. I can quickly see which materials I need to buy. I also love that I do not have to manually enter any of my sales and my daily accounting is done automatically. I can easily compare sales this month to sales this month last year without having to do any calculations on my own.

Nachteile:

There is a lot of set up to get the materials all entered and then assign them to the products. I sell over 100 products in my shop with each one requiring many different materials. By the time I had every material entered and connected to all my products I had already discontinued some products and added others. My shop is a little too complex to be handled by just myself. To make this software work for me I would need to hire someone to help with updating the inventory numbers, yet I am to small to afford help. This software would be perfect for a shop with 10-30 products if the products only use a couple of materials each. I also don't like that I have to manually attach my shipping costs to the correlating order.

mostly good, but needs features.

Kommentare: i am sort of solving inventory issues, but there could certainly be a lot more automated features to take a lot of time off the process. if it could automatically update inventory in e-commerce systems and if it could send automatic emails to me when a product gets low, that would be hugely beneficial.

Vorteile:

I like that it helps you price your goods including labor costs. it is pretty easy to use if you know the terminology of inventory. i also really like that it allows for consignment which a lot of other software does not. it allows for manual entry of orders which many other software programs do not.

Nachteile:

i don't like that it doesn't update shopify or other ecommerce sites. so i have to update inventory in craftybase and then also go into shopify and update inventory there as well. you can set low inventory alerts, but it doesn't notify you, so you have to manually go in and check periodically to see which products are running low. seems to defeat the purpose of an alert. it also doesn't sync with bookkeeping systems or shipping systems.

Great inventory program for small handmade bus

Kommentare: CB is fairly easy to navigate and learn. Great customer support via email or real-time chat. I was able to run tax reports easily and keep track of inventory.

Vorteile:

Affordable with different tiers and features. Great inventory program for small handmade business. Integrates well with e-commerce platforms and Etsy. Great response time with customer service. Web based and accessible from any computer. Ease of running different reports.

Nachteile:

Would like to see some additional customization options with bundles/gift boxes and recipes. Would like to be able to add amounts of materials in more than one type of measurement (metric, US customary units) Also more customizations with reports

Review of Craftybase

Kommentare: Overrall, I recommend Craftybase. They make it possible to download all the data that has been inputted and see overall projections and uses that accorded. Also, it is helpful to be able to notify us when we are running out of materials and/or it is easy to see where mistakes are, so they can be fixed. The interface is fantastic from a quick glance. Just a few too many steps to input things individually.

Vorteile:

I LOVE that it allows multiple different parts of the business to be tracked. Expenses, products, materials used, and labor all in one place. I also appreciate the ability to download csv files of the data to easily sort out information.

Nachteile:

There are a lot of buttons to press to complete one task, so it is easy to accidentally click the the wrong button and archive materials and/or change the pricing without meaning.
