Vorteile:

It's very cool organizing the data and arranging them in files, also working on them remotely.

Nachteile:

It needs more consideration about the price plans as it is a little bit expensive.

Robust DAM with room for growth

Kommentare: We are in year two of our contract and it has taken us some time to get fully on board using the software. so far, Libris has been a big help as we slowly transition all our files off an old in-house server. We have the opportunity now to review each folder and label it appropriately so we can find our assets quicker in the future.

Vorteile:

Libris has an excellent permissions system. Each collect and gallery can be individually set to be accessible in a few different ways, and then each photo can be set to be expired or rejected.

Nachteile:

There are three different user types: Invited, Contributors, and Library Staff. For our plan you get unlimited Invited users, which only have access to the front end portal and what you decide each user can see, which is fine. Contributors can only upload files--which is a a type we don't really use. Now the last type is called Library Staff and these users are the ones who really hold the power to edit, name, tag files, and set permissions. The problem is that you only get a small number of Library accounts and every additional seat needed is an exorbitant yearly cost on top of the plan cost

Industry leader with superior support and extremely easy to use

Kommentare: PS has been amazing from the beginning. The startup phase was seamless, and today, Ps is used by my entire firm. They are the industry leader, and most of my colleagues working for other Professional leagues and I bounce ideas off each other

Vorteile:

Seamless integration and ease of use. I dealt with the competition, and PS was far more accessible. They offer everything that I desired and more.

Nachteile:

PS surprised me. I was looking for a smaller company that could provide great customer support. I'm so happy with PS, but I was surprised that they are the behemoth in the industry. Now, I turn to my colleagues 90% of whom I recently learned to use PS. Knowing that my colleagues working for other professional networks would have helped me a great deal. PS seems to like flying under the radar, while takingover the industry.

Disappointed

Kommentare: Not pleasant. I was hoping this software would be more useful and be more intuitive.

Vorteile:

It holds my digital assets in one place.

Nachteile:

This software is not friendly for video. I'm unable to bulk-change assets if any videos are selected, and singling them out is not easy to do. I also don't like that you have to create an image to be the placeholder photo for a folder, even if the only assets you need/want to have in that folder are videos. It is difficult to filter through our assets. My team and I spent hours adding custom meta data to our assets just to realize that we don't have a way to filter through them. It is also not convenient that video takes a long time to upload and you can't exit out to another page to work on other tasks. If you can help with any of the above issues please let me know.

The best that's out there right now

Kommentare: Setting up our site was relatively painless and we're just populating our library now so that we can launch our organization image repository int he near future.

Vorteile:

Great ability to connect with Adobe products. Lots of tagging and organization options. The front end is attractive and easy to use for users.

Nachteile:

Setting permissions is a bit cryptic, especially if you're using it as a DAM and not as a storefront for a photography business. Only having 2 included library seats is troublesome when using as an enterprise app.

Libris Review

Vorteile:

I really like how detailed you can be when doing a search for images. Overall it's a nice streamlined system, but I think there is always an opportunity for improvement.

Nachteile:

If you use this system on a daily bases it works well and fairly easy to navigate, but new users seem to struggle. It also feels like there are too many steps sometimes.

Libris only

Kommentare: Libris has given us all the functionality and answers we wanted in a asset management solution

Vorteile:

cloud based, industry standard, support, functional

Nachteile:

multiple downloads from a search result is cumbersome

Offsite management for your digital assets

Kommentare: It is has been a very reliable partner to use in our cataloguing and storage needs. You can treat PhotoShelter for Brands and a tertiary backup in your strategy.

Vorteile:

PhotoShelter for Brands is great because our whole team can rely on a robust system to catalog and manage our vast numbers of photo and video assets for usage throughout our organization.

Nachteile:

I feel like the interface is in some areas not very intuitive and could use some refreshing. Also, the bandwidth occasionally is slow downloading (which I've mostly noticed with video assets.)

Libris Review

Kommentare: Overall we are very satisfied with Libris.

Vorteile:

The software is extremely easy to use and manage. It was the perfect solution for our photo archive and has proven to be an efficient method of delivering video and photos to end users.

Nachteile:

At times we have difficulties sharing lightboxes with other people, but I think that is more user error.

Great for the most part but could use some improvement

Kommentare: Visual and tagged searching is great for our department, but often times we have to share a second gallery via Google Drive for off campus/non-users when it would be helpful to send temp links to external consumers once. Our designers cull lightboxes for projects and pull images one at a time, which is a hassle. There should be an option to turn on bulk downloading for registered users.

Vorteile:

Tagging and importing is easy. Setting permissions for groups is helpful and the interface is mostly intuitive and useful. Getting our archive in front of eyeballs is easier now.

Nachteile:

Users are unable to bulk download images. We're a unique case use in which we own all of the images we upload to our account, but still users are unable to download more than one image at a time from a lightbox. Gallery sharing doesn't always work. No option to share outside of our user base without setting up an account for them. Resorting to using a third party service to share files. Price per TB of storage isn't in line with other cloud based providers, nor is there an option to use a third party cloud provider with the interface.

Great - but with a few caveats

Kommentare: the previous DAM system we used depended on people updating their own copy of a master database file. using Libris, everyone has immediate access to images. this has made life a lot easier in our office. when I've had questions or needed help, the service I received was top-notch: friendly, quick, and very effective

Vorteile:

the ability to send photos directly from the database, ease of keywording, very accessible

Nachteile:

occasionally it will get lost when going from an expanded view of an image back to the original search. the icon will spin for a long time, until I restart the app (impatience). it would be great if there were a way to see a larger grid view for selecting photos with a client. because it is web based, when our server is having trouble the database is inaccessible. of course, this isn't a problem with libris, but it is an issue that comes up once in a while on my end.

No Regrets

Kommentare: The customer service is phenomenal. They tend to take feedback seriously and implement changes, although I haven't seen any changes made to Lightboxes in the last few years. Two thumbs up all around.

Vorteile:

It saves our team and clients a massive amount of time in the photo search and delivery. It also serves as a portfolio for our photography services.

Nachteile:

The Lightboxes are nearly useless and need to be updated to improve viewing, uploading, batch downloading and other options. I'd like to have a few options to customize the preview look. There should be an option to increase the viewing size on previews as clients have a difficult time checking expressions and making selections quickly from a large gallery when the previews are so small.

Easy to use, navigate, and collaborate

Vorteile:

Photoshelter has a great navigation structure that enables you to easily sort, navigate, and find the exact assets you're looking for. We can customize how we archive our photos, which is a huge help. The search function has numerous options that allow you to be as broad or specific as you desire. Additionally, the capabilities to limit who can see which photo sets and to track who downloads what provides brand security.

Nachteile:

Preview images can take a while to load, although I'm not sure if that originates on with our IT infrastructure of Photoshelter's. Additionally, unless you are using an iMac, the metadata and gallery panels take up a substantial portion of your screen, limiting how many photos you can view at a time.

Libris Review from a marketing standpoint

Kommentare: I love that our product images are finally stored all in one place, and that we have the option to choose to make them available through Libris to our customers. It really helps manage and organize our huge amount of images that we need for various projects on a daily basis.

Vorteile:

I love the ease of use. I myself am not very tech-intuitive, and this site allows me to search quickly and easily for images/videos and find what I need almost immediately. I like that the set-up of the site is very user friendly, and it's easy to find my way around. I like the organization of it as a whole.

Nachteile:

There seem to be a couple of extra steps I have to take each time I want to select or download an image, like double-clicking instead of a single click, or always having to check a box for downloading metadata. But those are really minor issues, more having to do with my own impatience than anything else.

Senior graphic designer at a big 10 university for approximately 10 years.

Vorteile:

it's web-based and centralized, so our department of 50+ can access photos anytime, anywhere. I like having a Lightbox to quickly sort through my favorite photos as well. It's streamlined our production process and has made it easier for us designers to be more self-sufficient.

Nachteile:

I was not involved in the set-up or back-end of Libris, but it seems like our department is always having issues with our search results despite what I've heard have been several meetings with Libirs per our key-wording and adding descriptions. Most recently I was using the 'enter' key to submit a keyword search (instead of hitting the submit button), which created issues, bringing up non-keywords/non-global results. In my personal opinion, I'm not in love with the user design interface of the site. Per my rating of customer support, I have had no interactions, therefore have given a 'neutral' score.

I recommend Libris even though it needs just a bit more polish

Kommentare: Libris allows my team to access photos from where ever we might be working. And it provides an easy way for contributing photographers to upload photos to our site.

Vorteile:

•Lack of ability to make the preview galleries larger so I can see more detail •Lack of easier way to clearly understand the permissions for each collection and gallery

Photoshelter has made searching and pulling photos for our company so much easier and faster.

Vorteile:

I like that we can control who has permission in our company to see and download specific photos. It's also very helpful giving those permissions to people in other departments, because now they are able to download the photos they want themselves. We no longer have to stop working on time sensitive projects and do it for them, it saves us valuable time that we need as designers to do our job efficiently.

Nachteile:

For some reason the app doesn't work on my phone, thats really the only thing that I would say I dislike the least.

Easy to jump in and get started with. Once implemented very user friendly and intuitive.

Kommentare: Provides a level of order and access to what had previously been a very disorganized amount of files and photos. Saves my team a great deal of time by improving our ability to search for these images in an efficient manner.

Vorteile:

Ease of uploading the photos and tagging the photos. Great amount of customer support to help get us going. It is also evident that they are used to dealing with higher ed clients and had plenty of experience to fall back on when answering our specific questions.

Nachteile:

Nothing immediately jumps to mind! It would be great if we could more easily manipulate the order folders (as they default to alpha-numeric ordering), but that feels very nitpicky. All in all, a great product.

I think Photoshelter Libris is a perfect solution for DAM. I am 100% happy with the product!

Everything! I like the interface, support, that it is a cloud based storage option and I can upload from anywhere I have a internet connection.

Nachteile:

I wish I would have found it sooner. I had tried 2 other DAM systems and had a lot of issues, everyone love Photoshelter.

Daily use of the product, however I wish asset sharing were easier for people without Libris.

Downloading various file sizes is not easy. There should be an easy selection process for the size of photo I would like to download.

Libris Makes Life Easy

Kommentare: I've been a user and fan of PhotoShelter for a long time, so when the college I work for was ready to shift to a cloud based DAM system, PhotoShelter's Libris product was my first choice. The admin side is easy to set up and navigate and the client side is clean and user friendly. The customer service is tops and everyone at my institution has been pleased with it.

Vorteile:

I love the ease of uploading and organizing images. The ability to create different galleries for different clients has freed up so much time and made it easy to communicate about photos.

Nachteile:

I haven't found anything I don't like about Libris. I am looking forward to PhotoShelter expanding their mobile app for Libris.

Vorteile:

The ease of use and organization. We are still in the midst of setting it up, but we hope this makes searching our photos so much easier and faster for our department, partners and contributors.

Nachteile:

As a non-profit, the cost was an initial hurdle. We are hoping the time and server space makes up for it! The amount of tagger/admin seats are limiting for us, but other than that we love it.

Great product so far!

Kommentare: We purchased this product to use at a university. We needed something that could be shared across campus, allowing for folks to be able to search for the photos they needed. We also needed something that all 12 of us in our office could use at the same time, and something that was securely backed up.

Vorteile:

I like that it's on a cloud, which means we can access the photos at home or at work. It's also easy to give other people access, or to set up Lightboxes for them to view select photos. It's much easier than emailing photos like we used to have to do! We have shared it with several people on campus and they all say that it's been easy to use and easy for them to search for photos.

Nachteile:

I wish that more than one person could be the administrator without having to upgrade to the next payment level. I'm still having a few issues when trying to view the photos --- I'd like them all to be visible on one page, not 20 pages, for example, but I know it's something I could probably figure out.

Love the software

Vorteile:

Libris is very easy to use. We use this for photo sharing and organizing, and compared to other products, this seems to be the best at allowing us to customize how we communicate with our clients.

Nachteile:

The price is the only thing that would ever make us consider trying another product. With companies tightening their budgets, I could see how this would be a stumbling block for some.
